Ordered delivery while we were in town for a football game. The website was easy to use to order, I even realized I forgot something and when I called them to ask if they could add to my order they did it quick no questions asked. We ordered jalapeno poppers, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, pit sticks, and a black olive and green pepper beef pizza. Everything was really good! Perfect ratio of sauce, cheese and ingredients. We ordered delivery from Pizza Pit and got a pepporoni pizza, breadsticks, and a ground beef/veggie pizza. All of the pizzas had a great crisp and solid undercarriage, no soggy slices here. I've read several reviews that the interior of the restaurant needs an update because it is "so 1980s" so let me put my vote in that I like it that way and I have since I was a student at ISU actually in the 1980s. The nostalgia of many wonderful meals in a place that is recognizable is a great comfort. Now the Pizza is my favorite in the entire world. There are definitely better places in the world but no one has had a kind enough heart to point them out to me. I'm also enough of a pizza heretic to enjoy pineapple on my meat lovers pizza. Pizza Pit is by no means gourmet but they do sling some solid pizza that was reminiscent of Godfathers or Gambino's. I had both the pepperoni and the taco. The taco exceeded my expectations and was better than most but not on the level of the taco offered by Godfathers. I also enjoyed the pit sticks which were similar to cheese bread/sticks offered by other pizza joints. The interior of the restaurant is in desperate need of updates. It features cheap artwork/posters straight from the 80's. Maybe college kids in town like the throwback vibe but to me it looked tired. I'll also add that the place was nearly empty which made me question whether I picked the correct spot to get some 'za. I realize that it is summer in a college town so most students are back home and it was shortly after 5 which explains why most patrons were older. Just got the beer battered boneless chicken wings from here and the smell, driving home, was sooo good! Fresh, hot, best taste I've had from a boneless chicken wing that doesn't have sauce on it! The aroma was that like I remember from mom's chicken, very fresh. We got three dipping sauces with the wings and they were good as well, but you don't have to dunk 'em to get the great taste. Clean. The pizza is edible from past experience. We went there this past Saturday night at 7:30 PM on homecoming weekend and they said they were closed for takeout and eat in orders? Never heard of anything like this. You might as well put up a sign that says we don't really want your business and we don't care if you come back. I won't. Pizza Pit Extreme is more than pizza, it's comfort food. I frequent many pizza joints in Ames and I have several favorites but Pizza Pit is the best. It's the sauce and cheese along with tasty toppings that really make the difference. Pizza Pit Extreme is a staple of campus town and the Ames scene. I can't tell you how many Meeker Elementary school fund raisers I attended only to find the owner severing a mountain of pizzas to hungry kids and parents. The pizza is amazing. The crust is crisp and flakey around the edges. The cheese bread is "everyone's favorite" and that's the truth. My wife thinks that they make some kind a special Ranch. Bit, that has not been confirmed. Nevertheless, she loves it. The wings are fine, but it is not what they are known for. The decor and furniture are probably the same as when it opened. But that makes the ambiance special. I especially enjoy the huge live plants by the TV. Also, bring a handful of quarters because they have a retro video game in the building. read more

A few days after I went here I was in Wisconsin, and I found a real life soda fountain, too. The midwest is like a Disneyland fairytale. It's so cute and awesome, I almost can't stand it. We don't have pizza parlors in California. We have pizza hut and dominoes, and Italian restaurants, but no honest to goodness, polly-pocket-like pizza parlors. Anyway, I don't have much more to say about this place than that. My boyfriend loves the fried cheese balls enough that we made a special trip here to get them before we left town, so that must mean something significant. They changed their ranch since he last had it, though, and he was sorely disappointed about that. Apparently this place used to have the best ranch on the planet, and now it's gone. If the owners read this, please take that to heart. It was a big deal to him. Oh, oh, they have Micky and Minnie Mouse as gender markers on the bathroom door, and a big epic poster of the Starship Enterprise on the wall when you walk in. I'm visiting town on business, this place was easy web ordering, and online pay. Location was easy to find but parking is limited. I got taco pizza, jalapeño poppers and cheese bread! I search for deals and I think the bread ended up being less the $2 with marinara sauce. The order time was quoted and they were pretty much on the dot! These are crazy times and I saw 3 team members working and all wearing mask, and practicing distancing. The counter was set up to shield the customer from the register with a thoughtful bot saying to speak up! As we all are finding out the barriers and the mask are making it difficult to hear. I always order their fried drumsticks and wings to go. They are small, fried, and delicious. I can't say anything about the restaurant itself because I have never dined in, but every time I'm in Ames, I have to order their fried chicken to go. They are always super yummy. This last time they were a bit burned I thought but still tasted really good. My friends told me their pizza is really good too and so are their Hot sandwitches, although I have never tried them but I'll take my friend's word for it. read more

There's been a long-standing controversy concerning the best OG pizza place in Ames. When my mom went to ISU, the place to go for a quick slice was Pizza Pit. Now that I'm attending ISU, I've had the chance to experience the campus town food both sober and after a couple drinks. I can confidently say Pizza Pit has satisfied and comforted me in both situations, whereas a longtime competitor was a letdown in both scenarios. I've only had the pizza but it's made fresh and the wait is minimal. All in all, Pizza Pit is inexpensive, great pizza in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. I also recommend getting a punch card for that free slice every 10 you buy! read more

Today one of the deal apps in ames had a small one topping pizza deal that I called in about to check if I was able to place an order over the phone with the deal. The man who answered the phone was very condescending and rude when answering my questions, especially when answering specific details of the deal/order. I had never been to Pizza Pit but had heard good things, figured I would try it out. After this short experience I am certainly not planning on trying it. This is my go-to place for indigestion pizza. I don't know why I love it, but the over-salted sauce calls to me. Throw on some extra cheese and the topping of your choice and you're in heaven. (or I guess I am) I know some people don't like that the sauce keeps you up all night, but as a night owl, I'm a big fan.
