We found it has been remodeled. The people were very friendly and very helpful. There was someone going around picking up the dirty plates on a constant basis. Tables were wiped clean. Came on a Saturday afternoon before a basketball game. Buffet food was very old. Green beans stuck to the bottom of the pan, no lettuce and other salad bar selections were empty, crust on top of mashed potatoes as they were drying out, cold pizzas, fried chicken was oily and old. Asked about refills and they said they had a big order being made and would get to it. Finally got 3 fresh pizzas after 20 minutes. Total waste of money. I will not be back. I have been to other locations without issue. Stay away unless the parking lot is full I guess. read more

I've never been to a Pizza Ranch before. I Have been to plenty of Pizza Buffets from Here to California & none have ever left an "OMGosh! I've got to go!" feeling until now. I have been here several times the 1st week. I was really impresssed that even only on day 2 (lunch) I saw no "New Establishment Issues." Employees were still nervous, but overall were quick, attentive & had positive attitudes, especially making sure everything was okay. I went back Friday night (against my own rules as to not visit a new establishment on a weekend the 1st month). Service again was great. It "Was Not" seat yourself, to which I believe added to the smooth flow. Food was continually brought out fresh & kept hot! I saw no temperature control issues at all! All of the food is delicious & flavorful! Pizza's if you dont see something you desire, you can order special. You can have your crust Thin or thick, they will do it your way. I really really liked the Steak & Onion Pizza, Tomato & Basil, the Fried Chicken (juicy, not greasy) & Cranberry Salad!!! ohhh how can anyone forget to mention the dessert pizzas!! Nom Nom Nom! Don't forget to make them à la mode!! This is a Christian based business & any non Christians, or other Faith worshipers should not be offended by great food & service. As they get a feel for the demands, I'm sure they may add another pizza table during peak times like weekends. Fried chicken was excellent, mashed potatos with a buttery and creamy texture and excellent gravy. Dessert pizzas like fruit pies, and soft serve ice cream. Well, maybe it should be called Chicken Ranch instead, because when I visited, the fried chicken was the standout. Not only was it delicious and well prepared; there was also plenty of it. Overall, a pretty impressive place; especially for Maryville. The staff actually seems enthusiastic about working there, and from the moment you enter, you are told that if you don't see the kind of pizza you want, you can ask for anything and they will make it up and bring you some. The staff is also available to clear the used plates and waste so your table always remains clear. Unfortunately, they tried to clear ours away entirely while we were up getting more food, leading to a somewhat uncomfortable moment. The food spread features a pizza island, another island with *real* fried chicken and all the trimmings for a home cooked dinner, including biscuits, gravy, fried potatoes, green beans and probably a few other items I can't remember. There is a third station which is a salad bar, and I have to say that although it is not really huge, everything I tried was fresh and tasted good, which you cannot usually say for salad bars in pizza buffets. The other items I noticed but did not try included several dessert pizzas and ice cream, which my friend would not stop talking about. I tried 3 different kinds of pizza. Of the ones I tried, the best was a thin crust which looked kind of like a margarita style with tomatoes, spinach and a cheese sauce. The others I tried had a "medium" crust (as in medium tough), that I did not care for. Maybe it's just the palate of N.W. Mo folks, but I found all that I sampled to be very bland. My bet is that I made bad choices, but I have a thing about wasting on an all you can eat buffet, so next time I will try some of the others, or just request one that has the thin crust. All things considered, this is a great addition to the Maryville landscape, and I will definitely be visiting again the next time I am in town. read more

if you like a full meal this is the resturant to go to. the pizza bar is always full of all kinds of pizza, bread sticks, and dessert pizza. the fried chicken is to die for. it is better than kfc's chicken. you have a variety of salad makings on the vegetable bar. even dill pickle spears, and pickled beets...now the have blue cheese dressing and all kinds of things to make a great salad. if you still have room take a trip to the ice cream machine and add a piece of chocolate chip cookie or dessert pizza with that ice cream....you walk in but waddle out....delicious !!!!!! one of our favorite places to eat!!!!!! read more

Update. I have visited Pizza Ranch in Maryville several times since my first review. I'm still quite pleased with the restaurant. The last time I visited (mid-week) there was a man strolling around through the tables who would stop to tie balloon animals and "hats" for the children. I don't know if there was a special occasion for his visit or if he is a "regular." (Mind you, he was not a beginner at this, but a truly gifted artist, if such can be said of a balloon guy.) Anyway, the meal was delicious, well prepared with a wide variety of pizzas (traditional cheese, pepperoni, veggie, taco and even a cheeseburger with fries pizza), fried chicken and potatoes, gravy, hot veggies, salads (the salad bar even offers packets of low fat "Ken's" dressings for those of us attempting to calorie-count). The staff is still as friendly and efficient as when the establishment first opened. I'm a simple person. I admit that I'm not really comfortable in "high profile" restaurants with goblets and silver tableware. Western-themed Pizza Ranch in Maryville, MO suits me. I still recommend it. read more
