I am saddened by the direction this restaurant has gone. My family has been going here for as long as I can remember. We made it part of our family birthday traditions for at least 20 years if not more. I visited my parents this weekend and wanted to reminisce with pizza shoppe pizza. Used to be the best dough I've ever eaten. Got a medium pizza and a salad. Cost us $37. The medium would be considered a small at any other pizza shop. The dough's lost its luster and was actually soggy. We decided as a family, much to our dismay to move on. We are going elsewhere from now on. The quality has declined. read more

Recently, we checked out Pizza Shoppe because we were in the area. For years, we had always gone to the same restaurant for our pizza. The food was very good. I enjoyed our pizza with a sweet crust. The sauce was very pleasant. There were many choices of pies to request which I loved and definitely be back to try the others. The portion sizes seemed above average and plentiful, with enough for leftovers. The price of the food was just right. I was happy that the service was not overpriced like some other restaurants in the area. The service was exceptional. The server really took the time to listen to our order, repeat it back, made sure she go it right. The manager even came over to us to check in our service. Restaurants don't always do this because of the hustle and bustle of their business. I like the atmosphere and ambiance of the store. You felt like you were coming home to sit and enjoy a meal that was cooked to order for you like Mom used to make. The pictures on the wall are beautiful hand painted murals. Everything was clean on the restaurant floor. The bathrooms were clean as well. I always cringe when you see a beautiful dining area but then go to use the bathroom and it is a hot mess. This would make you wonder what it would look in other areas of the shop that were not visible but often used as a food prep area. This was not the case here, the bathroom was spotless. Let's talk about parking and location. The location is easy to get to and there is ample parking for this venue. I particularly like how well lit the parking lot is. This day and age, you cannot be too careful. As we were leaving the restaurant, and new to the area, I appreciated how safe I felt leaving the restaurant and going to my car. I appreciated how the manager coming over and talking to us and telling us a little bit about the history of the restaurant and how it has always been a family shop. While sitting there, I noticed the many regulars that entered the building to dine and pick up their food. Again, warm and inviting, which seriously makes me rethink about my current pizza restaurant. I would definitely come again if in the area. My family enjoyed it too. I was looking to try a new Pizza place so that I can continue to support local businesses and I have to say that I was really impressed with The Pizza Shoppe. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch which was hands down one of the best chicken bacon ranch pizzas I've ever had! The chicken was tender, the bacon was crispy, and the ranch was creamy and perfect. I also ordered a cheese pizza which was also really good! The crust was crispy and the cheese melted to perfection, and the sauce is sweet and tangy. Each bite was a flavor explosion, with the stretching cheese and savory sauce making it perfect!!! All my guests were impressed with The Pizza Shoppe. I have been here a number of times since I was a kid. This place used to be a treat. Despite what I remember the place and food being, I digress. The last 3 times I have been here (all not my choice) I was extremely disappointed with the pizza. It is limp, soggy, undercooked, and just falls apart in your hand. Cooking it longer still wouldn't save it. After the reconstruction, they have steered away from sit down dining and are catering to fully to a bar crowds Ill-equipped seating and no room for more than 6 anywhere. They really pigeon holed themselves into going full tilt into the bar. Not to beat a dead horse, but the most glaring thing is the terrible food. Meatball grinder was cold and likely frozen meatballs. Pizza barely qualifies as pizza. No organization at the seating area and nowhere to sit except back to back at someone else eating their dinner at the table behind you while you wait for an opening. I will not go back, even if it means not attending dinner. Someone somewhere turned a good thing into a circus and completely abandoned everything it had going for it. I had zero expectations walking into this restaurant with the family. Our neighbors said good things about it so we wanted to give it a try. There is good parking and a nice old school New England pizza shop feel when you arrive. We sat ourselves in the dining room with the kids. It was a comfortable family environment, food and drinks and service were all prompt. We order the family Caesar which was completely as expected. The pizza was thin, slightly sweet and cooked perfectly. The square pieces always make it taste better! My favorite was the wings! I ordered the BBQ Gold sauce and it was better than expected! This place had so many fond memories for me of delicious cheese pizza from his long ago was 1973. I had heard some bad things about the pizza and decided to go because I could not believe the reviews. The reviews were correct the pizza is not what I remember. The dough tasted like it was previously frozen and then used to make the pizza. It was very bready, and did not have much flavor. The sauce and cheese were unremarkable. The staff was friendly and the service was fine but the pizza is not what it was and we will never return. You would be much better off having a frozen pizza from a grocery store than this. read more

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Been going here since I was a kid and am a huge pizza person but have never found another place like it. I always get my pizza well done and pie cut every where I go. This place makes it perfect, it has a crisp where it won't droop, but when you bite the dough is soft and has a sweet flavor to it. Sauce is slightly on the lighter side compared to most other places I've tried but personally I like it that way. Cheese is perfect. Great service and employees. The servers here are the nicest. We really enjoy coming here--it is friendly, nice energy, not too loud, and comfortable booths. Been there probably a dozen times since I moved to the area, always good food and good service. Went Saturday Night to get wings to go. Sat at the bar, took more than a few minutes to get acknowledged. Guy threw a couple menus down and walked away. Came back after a few more minutes, asked what we were drinking. I said, I'd like to put in an order of wings to go. Didn't acknowledge i said that and repeated, what are you drinking? Ordered 3 beers, he asked my stepson for his ID. He handed to him, bartender analyzed it for a few more minutes then tossed it on the bar, it almost didn't make the bar. He came back with our beers, I grabbed mine, you could still feel the warmth of it freshly out of the dishwasher so my beer was warm to start. He took our $58 wing order, never came back to ask us if we wanted another one. 90 MINUTES later, we left with our wings. My buddies 1st time there, said he'd never go back. Pizza 1 star Wings 4 stars I would have given this restaurant a lower rating if it had not been for their wings. I'm a huge pizza enthusiast, then again, who isn't? Maybe if they cooked the pizza longer it would have been a lot better, but what we received was gooey, unenjoyable pizza, honestly I've never been so incredibly disappointed in pizza before. But like I mentioned above, the wings saved the day. We got half teriyaki half barbecue chicken wings and they were delicious. Overall the environment in the small dining room is enjoyable, they have a larger room with music and loud bar which was busy when we dined so opted for the quiet small room. Service was ok, it seems they hire mostly teenagers/young adults. I would like to give this place a second chance but I'm scared of being disappointed again and refuse to pay $18 for a medium, tiny pizza that I could get a frozen digiorno pizza for way cheaper and better. read more

I ordered a extra large pizza for takeout and it was completely burnt and covered it soot. When I opened the box after reaching home, I was completely shocked and called them for a refund. But they refused, and offered only an exchange and I had to drive all the way back with my two kids to get a new one. Completely rude and they wasted two hours of my time. New to the area and trying out the different pizza places. The crust here is sweet, as advertised, which is a different, yet good, thing. But the pizzas are smaller than most places, especially for the price. A speciality pizza and a pepperoni pizza, both mediums, was $38. The crust wasn't cooked well and the cheese was barely melted. And I didn't even realize how little I had ordered from here anymore until last night, and it was last straw for me. First time eating there. But my wife wanted this specific pizza. We tried the wings, an Italian grinder and a veggie pizza. The grinder was great, perfect amount of bread to meat ratio. Soft texture great sandwich. The wings where perfectly fried to a golden crispy finish and they where meaty. The pizza, I had a slice was great. They must use a special flour the dough had a bit of a sweet after taste. The service was quick and accommodating. Great experience. read more

Not sure how to rate this one. I have been ordering pizza from this place for years. One of the my favorites in the area, however I dined in this past evening and the service was terrible. I get the concept of hiring high school kids to wait and bus tables but there should be a supervisor. Smells worse than a porta potty and the service has gone so far downhill that its in China. Multiple people left, including us a different evening because it took more than ten minutes to get a drink. Seriously the YMCA smells better. Shameful whats been done to this place.
