We ordered one item to share and it was the lemon ricotta pizza. There's something so good about lemon and cheese that never disappoints, and this pizza was no different. The service was quick and attentive, even if we only ordered one item. We had a late dinner on a Tuesday evening, so the place was fairly empty save for one other table and a corporate holiday event at the back of the restaurant that kept the volume up inside. The lighting is moody and there are neon signs with pizza-related phrases for pictures if that's something you like. Very good example of Neapolitan style pizza in Toronto. Quality toppings with a rich tomato sauce and nice crust. I like this location in particular as I have visited it a few times now and have never seen it busy. I have never had to wait for a table and the service has always been efficient. No crowd also makes for a better dining and social experience in a group. To be honest, Pizzeria Libretto has gone a bit downhill since I visited their original location on Ossington for the first time many years ago. However, their pizza still never fails to disappoint. Love the pizzas - can't go wrong here! New location that opened mid town in North York. The restaurant is HUGE and so spacious. They weren't busy at all on a Saturday lunch hour, which is concerning - I hope they stay open because I'm so excited this pizzeria is finally closer to home! Started with their calamari 10/10 - Although it's much smaller in size compared to before at other locations, the taste is still very much there! Crispy fried calamari in a beautiful tomato marinara sauce that just compliments it so nicely. Highly reccommend getting this to share! Their pizza of the day 10/10 - Was a "lasagna pizza" which as you can guess, tastes like a lasagna. However, I thought the cheese (I believe provolone?) was a little too strong for the rest of the pizza. White mushroom pizza 10/10 - Alway a nice change from eating pizza with a red sauce to a pizza in a white sauce. Loved every bite of this! I can't wait to come back for more pizza here. The food and service here were ok. It's nicely decorated with greenery hanging from ceiling and very spacious. You can also watch them prepare your food behind a glass window. Take out is available. I came here late at night, an hour before closing. I found the food to be ready quickly and fresh. My pizza and pasta were at nice temperatures, however I found the pasta to be a bit bland, it may have needed a bit more salt, but the texture of the gnocchi was spot on. The pizzas were flavoured nicely. I had the chance to taste both NYC style and Neapolitan. I came here in a rush as it was late and I was trying to beat closing time for many restaurants, I wasn't disappointed, but I also felt this place has so much more potential. read more

Grand opening day today! We ordered the Meatballs $16 beef-pork-veal meatballs, house sugo, ricotta, pecorino. The meatball tasted good, however a little warmer would have been better. We ordered the 'Nduja $22 spicy calabrian sausage, san marzano tomato, garlic, oregano, fior di latte mozzarella, stracciatella cheese, fresh basil and Duck Confit $23 white pizza, panna, duck confit, fior di latte mozzarella, roasted bosc pear, rosemary, duck fat, parmigiano-reggiano. The duck confit pizza was pretty good, however I wasn't a huge fan of the pear on it. Overall, good addition to the neighbourhood. read more

Was excited when I heard that they were opening a location in North York. Currently they are doing a soft opening but unfortunately I never got to try their pizza despite visiting them today. 1. Waited an hour for the pizza, asked 3 times where our pizza was and on the second inquiry they said they forgot to make it. 2. Servers and staff were inattentive, we watched 3 tables that came in after us get their pizza before us. In addition, our server disappeared for 30mins or so. Must of went on break which is fine but it appeared there was no one that covered their shift while they were on break. Ended up asking another server and host where our pizza was. 3. Pizzas arrived after 1 hour and it was in *Gordon Ramsey's voice* EFFIN RAW! My pizza was cooked but the dough was too thin, which meant the dough got soggy from the sauce and looked more like a shakshuka than pizza. Friends pizza was so undercooked it was soupy. After waiting an hour for our pizza, the restaurant offered to pay for the bill which was a good gesture however we couldn't eat the pizza. In a rush to make up for missing our order, they served up soupy and soggy pizza. That is not acceptable. It shows a lack of quality control in their kitchen. We ended up leaving as we didn't want to wait any longer to have the pizza remade. Also, for a soft opening you would expect managers or servers to walk around and ask guest how the food was so that they can improve before official opening. However, we witnessed none of that so not sure how much they really care about making the food and experience enjoyable and better rather than just wanting your cash. read more

Pizzeria Libretto is a well-known Neapolitan pizza restaurant chain in Toronto with multiple locations. I've been to their other locations multiple times and was excited that there would be a location that is closer to home. This location is located near the intersection of North York Blvd and Yonge. They currently only open on Mon to Fri only but I did hear that they are opening on the weekends soon. They have a large seating area indoors and a small patio section. I stopped by Pizzeria Libretto on a Wed night for dinner. The place was not full for dinner where majority of the customers sat outside. Service was friendly and my party and I ordered the following items: - Kale salad (green goddess crema, shredded kale, gamay vinaigrette, seasoned almonds, and lemon) - Burrata pizza (who burrata di borgo, san marzano tomato, and fresh basil) - 'nudja pizza (spicy Calabrian sausage, san marzano tomato, garlic, oregano, fior di latte mozzarella, and stracciatella cheese) The kale salad was light and refreshing. Both pizzas were great as well, up to standard with the other locations I've been to. The burrata pizza was a bit difficult to eat as a big ball of burrata was placed in the middle of the pizza so we had to take our time with spreading the cheese around the pie. The 'nudja pizza was a favourite - all the ingredients worked well together. Only complaint was there seemed to be a few small flies within the restaurant which made it annoying throughout the meal as we had to keep shooing them away. Gotta try their pizza (takeout) and I'm pleasantly surprised. Had the Nduja $22, Funghi $21, Vegetariana $19, and margarita prosciutto arugula $23. The pizza is the super thin type of pizza. When you chew on the crust you can taste a bit of saltiness. It's definitely different from the chain pizza shop and give you the artisan feel. I genuinely enjoyed all the pizza including the vegetarian one, which normally I wouldn't order at a pizza chain. The funghi and prosciutto one are my favorite. So much mushroom on the funghi one and with the herbs and cheese it's just so good. And the prosciutto one is packed with flavor. Pizza sizes are more like personal size. So yes, much more expensive than the chain one but I think the flavor and taste is worth the price. read more

Ambiance I am personally not a very big fan of how close we are seated to other tables, and the table for two people is a bit small. Otherwise the restaurant looks nice. This place is in a convenient location & easy to get to by transit. The north York subway station is nearby. The decor is all new as this is a new location for Pizzeria Libretto. The tables are a light wood with grey cushions. The side wall has banquette seating. There are only 3 single washrooms at the back of the restaurant. Hubby & I got seated near the door. It was a bit drafty so we moved a little further away from the door. For an appetizer we shared the gnocchi pomodoro which was light & fluffy for gnocchi. The pomodoro sauce was a bit thin for my preferences & tasted kind of ordinary. Like tomato sauce from a can. I had the marinara pizza & hubby had the meatballs. For the quality & price of the food it was slightly better than mediocre. The marinara pizza crust was good, sauce was the same as the gnocchi pomodoro, and toppings were basil with garlic. It's a nice looking, clean place & service from the waitstaff was fine. Though there was only one server she was friendly & doing the best she could. Overall it's a decent place for a meal. I've just had better gnocchi & pizza elsewhere so I'm a bit spoiled. I will give them 3.5 stars because the overall experience was good. I think though they need to use a thicker sauce for the gnocchi. Their pizza crust could be more yummy too. read more

They seemed in a hurry both while taking the orders and in taking away our plates even before we were finished. The pizza was nice yet didn't meet its worth; North of Brooklyn and Slice pizza tasted better. Additional we did enquire for the daily specials but nothing seemed interested in elaborating so we dropped the idea of ordering the wine. The wait times are long which can be okay considering the pizza preparation strategy yet this one could be given a miss. Great Ambiance and decor but overrated. read more

Came here for dinner tonight not knowing that today was actually their first day of opening! Though I've never heard of Pizzeria Libretto before, this chain must have a good reputation seeing as it was almost fully seated at around 7pm. There was a good amount of seating inside (~25-30 tables; some bar seats, some bench seats) as well as a couple of tables outside (~5-10 tables). For a party of two, we ordered one pizza each - the standout for me was definitely the duck confit pizza. It had an excellent flavour well-balanced by the sweetness of the roasted bosc pears, fattiness of the duck, and saltiness of the parmigiano-reggiano. The pepperoni pizza was just standard with a light kick of spice in the cup & char pepperoni. Interestingly, there was a bottle of chili oil by tableside but it was extremely mild. I've got a low spice tolerance and even I thought the chili was barely detectable. Overall, I found that the crust of the pizza was quite chewy - from the bottom through to the edges. It was also quite "floppy" and I wasn't able to properly pick a slice up without all my toppings immediately sliding off. I'm not a pizza connoisseur by any means so I wonder if this is what "authentic Neapolitan pizza" is like.. but it was definitely a bit of a hassle to enjoy without using a fork and knife to either support the slice or use exclusively to cut into pieces. The service tonight was also quite slow although hopefully this is just a growing pain for a first day. One thing I noticed is that their menu is quite small, predominately offering pizzas with few other cooked dishes between, but they only seem to have one wood-fire oven so I wonder if they'll be able to consistently keep up with the pizza orders during busy hours. I also received a voucher with my bill offering a complimentary lunch special to be used within the next month. A nice offer for those who live close by and have the time to dine-in on weekdays from 12-4pm. read more

Mediocre and overpriced food, at least for the items we ordered. Gnocchi Fritta: Very little "bite" to them. Sauce was decent, but I was looking forward to the gnocchi. Duck pizza: We were intrigued because of the pear and duck combo. Unfortunately, the duck was sparse, and the meat appeared dry and pulled. The random slices of pear in the cheese didn't work well, and it was also hard to pair with the duck because both ingredients were sparse. No other noticeable topping or flavour. I did eat two slices because I was hungry. Aperol spritz: got it on the $10 spritz special. Not so special, though, given that it really was mostly club soda. "Vibe": We like the first impression of the place. Brightly lit clean and kinda cute. But you can go elsewhere for that and better food. $62 for the pizza, gnocchi and two drinks. We didn't finish any of the items, as they didn't seem worth the calories (and this is saying something because I very rarely leave food behind). Their other food items might be better, but I can't recommend this place at this point. read more
