Can't really go wrong with various meats and jalapeno. The staff screwed up and accidentally drizzled honey onto the pizza, but we ate it anyways. It actually works pretty nicely. Good air flow with the fans going for when it's full in here. Very strange that the board games aren't laminated or something when you serve greasy food. Pizza was nice but just a little burnt on the crust. Colleagues enjoyed the beer. The four of us ate two pizzas and they must have had mozzarella sticks or something before I got there. Got loud and another group needed our table so we went next door to Charisma. Not the ideal place for a germophobe. I made everyone use hand sanitizer before we dove into the pizza but after that, I wasn't mixing food with games. This kind of setup needs food with cutlery and chopsticks. read more

This is a very awesome pizza spot in Vancouver. I love the fact that they make it very casual and welcoming with a wall of board games that people can pick from to play at their tables while they enjoy a delicious meal. Our group was spending a few days in Vancouver, BC exploring after returning from our Alaska cruise. Our Airbnb condo was right downtown so ideally suited for walking. We had discovered this little pizzeria during the day, and decided to try it for dinner. It is located in the cul-de-sac of shops at the end of Keefer Pl. by Abbott St. Their menu offers a diverse option of pizza (including GF option) along with salads and soups. The pizzas are personal size 12". We decided on the pepperoni pizza. They use a fired brick oven which gives you that really flavorful char on the crust. The pepperoni was larger sliced sizes that what you traditionally see, and the amount of pepperoni was very generous. It had good flavor and a bit of spiciness to it. The cheese was very buttery and creamy with great flavor, and the crust seemed like it was freshly made dough. All in all a great experience and good quality pizza. What is unique about this venue is that they promote playing board games while you dine. . They have hundreds of games their customers can choose to lay while waiting for your pizza and while you eat. The restaurant was packed with adults and families, it was quite unique and fun to watch. A great spot for a games night with friends over pizza and some drinks. Perfect activity for a rainy day in Vancouver! Best part is that they can fit a large group size, I went there with around 10 people and we were able to hold the table for 2 hours. They have so many games, it's amazing! I'm also a big fan of their food, my friend and I shared their pesto pizza which was cheesy and delicious. It was a thin crust pizza that was fresh out of the oven. I would say one pizza can be shared between two people! Their food prices are also pretty reasonable. My favourite part were their drinks! A revisit for a night of board games. Booked a table ahead of time and it was ready when we got there. That was when the good service ended. It was super warm in the restaurant and we had to ask a couple of times for a server to take our order. As we were ordering, we all decided to get drinks to start and our server asked if we were going to get any food. We said maybe in a bit and she said we had to order $15 per person. I felt that was a little uncalled for because we were going to order a second round of drinks and mentioned this as well. Even looking around we saw tables of 8 people only ordering 2-3 pizzas to share and a couple of pops but the server didn't make the same comment to those tables even though it would have been similar spend to us. The food was ok, meatballs were dry and tastes like they were in the freezer for a while. Definitely not fresh by any means but the sauce helped. Drinks were decent. We had auto-gratuity of 18% since we were a party of 6 but we had no service at all. We weren't provided cutlery unless we asked, our water glasses were not filled the entire time we were there and we were only provided with a pitcher of water when we asked at the counter. I understand we were a bigger party so we were asked to tip more but we received little to no service!! On top of this, when we were given the machine after, it asked for tips again so if you didn't notice the auto-gratuity on the receipt you would have tipped yet again!!! read more

So much fun!! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Pizzeria Ludica with my husband & son. It was an experience that went beyond just great pizza! First off, let's talk about the pizza. We went for the thin crust option, which was perfect--crisp and light with not too much cheese. The sauce had a tad of spiciness to it, which added a nice kick, but overall, it was all good! I tried their Margherita pizza, and it was decently average. I didn't ask about the proofing:/ But what truly set Pizzeria Ludica apart was the fantastic selection of walk games available to play! Went to Pizza Ludica on Halloween night in 2022 with my friends. We got garlic bread and pizza to share then. I returned again with another group in April 2023 and the experience was great as well. The pizzas are to die for. They are perfectly cheesy and the the pull is insane. Especially when you share food between friends, the meal is unbelievably cheap. Both times I went I think I only spent around $11 not including tip. I'm a huge board game fan so I absolutely adore this place. There are so many options and it's always a good time. We grabbed take away from here on our first night in Vancouver. We were so tired and just needed some warm food. We ordered caprese salad, carbonara and a pizza to share. Everything was delicious. The caprese was fresh and delicious. The carbonara was perfect with just the right amount salty bacon. The pizza was perfect thickness and sauce. All around delicious first meal for us! Delicious! I remember the pizza from previous visits as pretty darn good but on this particular visit it was a homerun. Pizzas are 12" inches running around $17-19. Normally, we could easily each devour 14" pies but at Pizzaria Ludica the quality ingredients were generous. I opted for half Parcheesi and half Three Cheese Pesto. There can never be enough cheese right (my head says more, my belly says no more)?? If you're a cheese fiend, Parcheesi is loaded with 5 kinds of gooey goodness. I enjoyed it (4/5) but preferred the Three Cheese Pesto (5/5) that had mushroom and spinach as well. Let's talk about the dough. So thin soo soft. They have ways of organising their board games but unfortunately people put back their games in the wrong spot which makes finding things a little difficult. i wanted so so hard to love ludica, i really did. and it was a lot of fun to play "a fistful of meeples" once we figured it out. but the noise! they manage to pack a lot of people in, everyone's gaming, and it's just a big room with nothing to absorb sound. it's *really* loud. my husband and i were sitting across from each other and we each had to lean pretty far in to even hear a word the other said. then there was our reservation, which was specified as 8.30-10.30. we arrived a few minutes early and weren't seated until 9. i get that it was a saturday, but aside from a couple of vague reassurances that it would be real soon now, no one interacted with us much. we just stayed at the front, waiting, for 30 minutes. there were no chairs. once we were seated, someone brought us some menus and glasses of water. a little later another person dropped off a bottle with water in it. nothing happened after that for another half- hour. we stared at the menus and chatted about our weekend in vancouver. i'd been so excited to find a board game restaurant with such an immense collection. it wasn't clear if you were supposed to just pull a game off the shelf or what. my husband went to the counter to ask how that worked, which seemed to have reminded them of our existence. someone came by to take our order about ten minutes later. we each had pasta, which showed up relatively promptly. i think we were finally served around 9.45, an hour and 15 minutes after we had arrived. my husband's puttanesca didn't taste exactly like what it was supposed to be but was okay for what it was. i was not so lucky, and my tortellini was painfully salty. literally - i kept trying to eat it but the salt was so bad it hurt my tongue. i only managed a couple of mouthfuls. the garlic bread looked like they'd smeared something on the bottom half of a hamburger bun and stuck it in an oven for a bit. fortunately, it only cost a dollar and i only ordered one piece. his italian soda was fine, and my sparkling water was good (it's hard to ruin sparkling water). the game was new to us and we had fun playing it, but we left as soon as we'd finished it instead of staying until 10.30. i'd've asked my husband if we could leave earlier but we had to find out who was going to win (spoiler alert: it was me). fortunately, it was a pretty quick game. we left to find food for me somewhere else, and i have never been so glad to leave a restaurant. i can't even say "well, at least they tried" because it was absolutely clear that they did not care even a tiny bit. we loved the idea, hated the execution, and won't be back. i gave them a third star they probably didn't deserve because the game collection is immense and the game was a lot of fun. read more

Their pizzas are about 6 slices in total. A great place to dine pre or post game at Rogers Arena or BC place. Near Stadium skytrain station. Parking's a challenge. Everything incredibly salty yet not properly seasoned - weird spices - like maybe basil was burnt and oregano was 5x the usual recipe ? It's like a child who is imagining how to make Italian food decided to try making marinara, or pizza dough or sausage. We dont expect Vancouver to have the absolute best pizzas and calzones but these were so inedibly salty and weird tasting we had to throw 60% of the food away . We ate the 40% out of sheer hunger. Ever have those days where you got an itch for something and you really need to do certain things to tame them? Recently I had three big ones: pizza, boardgames, and playing with cats. Upon a long and tiresome search, I realized I would have to suffice with two of the three components. That's where Pizzeria Ludica comes in and helped me find the things I had been longing for. Definitely the biggest draw for Pizzeria Ludica is the opportunity to play games and have a nice meal at the same time. For food, there's the standard Italian fare of pizza and pasta. For me pizza just feels like the perfect compliment for board games. There's a whole bunch of games. Way too many to list but my group was into Cards Against Humanity and Politically Incorrect. Tons of other offerings like Avalon, Secret Hitler, Apples to Apples, Monopoly, way too many to list. Even saw a box for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I have to note is that I love how the restaurant looks and is set up. It's spacious and there is plenty of room to eat and play games at the same time. More hyped about big wooden tables and chairs than I should have any right to be. There's also the cooking area where the chefs prepare food along and that's pretty neat to see. The cabinets on the wall are filled with all the boardgames they have and it's even categorized. Coming in I felt like I was in a fancy place to play games and have pizza. Ordered the Pass the Pigs pizza for myself. I'll just get my one quibble out of the way first. I don't like hard crust pizza. I always end up cutting the inside of my mouth. The pizza served had somewhat hard crust. Not my cup of tea and it was my only disappointment albeit a very small one. Otherwise I was really satisfied with what I have. Tons of toppings on the pizza and it all meshed together pretty well. Great portion size where it was just enough for me. Scored a ton of marks and was definitely one of the better pizzas I got to enjoy. Full-heartedly would recommend Pizzeria Ludica as a place to drop by and have a good time. We happened upon Pizzeria Ludica while walking by and the place looked interesting. There was a 20 minutes wait for a table for 2 so we hopped into T&T next door to pick groceries in the meanwhile. The staff is very friendly, there is an open kitchen and a wall dedicated to all the board games which were assorted by number of players required. Each game had a color code based on the type of game. It was just the two of us, but there quite a few parge groups as well. We ordered the alfredo because we had pizza the previous day. I see that the reviews rave about the pizza here, so will definitely try that next! The food and drinks were ok, but the service and experience was excellent. This is my favourite game place! I went here for my birthday dinner this year and decided to come back for a double date lunch with my friends and partner. The place has so many games and is great if you want to try a few different games each visit. The pizza selection is great. The style is neapolitan and one of my favourites in Vancouver. Lunch time on a weekend seems to be quieter than dinner, which was better for us as we hung out there for a few hours as opposed to dinner. They also have pasta and salads. (way overdue, pre-COVID review) TL;DR: Pizza dough is great, but a little on the salty side. Huge selection of games. Came here with a party of 3 on a weekend at 1pm for a board game brunch. We each ordered a pizza for ourselves - I got the Vulkar pizza, which was a little spicy and a bit too salty for me - then decided to try out Wingspan, which none of us had played before, and was in surprisingly good condition for a board game in a restaurant (looking at you, Stormcrow). Our pizzas arrived just after we set up the game, which takes a fair amount of space on the table, so it was a bit of a mess trying to fit the food on the table without disrupting the flow of the game. While their menu says they're okay with people eating and playing at the same time, my pizza cooled down a lot over the course of the game, and I felt bad about touching the game pieces with my grimy pizza hands at every turn, which made my eating process even slower. In hindsight, we probably should have finished our food before setting up, but they enforce a 3 hour seating limit, which is not necessarily enough time to order, wait for your food, eat, and then fit in a whole new game. Staff was courteous and friendly, though I'm not sure if they would explain a new game, as they didn't ask when we were trying to figure out the rulebook for Wingspan. All things considered, I'd definitely come back. The board games look to be in better shape than the ones at other board game cafés/bars I've been to, the lighting is better, and the pizza I had was not bad. read more

This place is a great spot to go with a group of friends! It's a two minute walk from Stadium sky train station (Gotta love convenience) so everyone can grab a beer and not have to worry about driving! I came here with three other friends on a Friday for lunch at around 1pm, and all their house pizzas and pastas were on special for $11! The size of these pizzas is more than enough for one person, but since we were all in YOLO type moods we were able to finish an entire pizza EACH. However you can definitely share one between two people easily and save a little extra money. I ordered the Carcassonne pizza (originally $14) that came with chicken, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic, feta, and mozzarella. I'm a HUGE fan of feta and sun-dried tomatoes so this was pizza was perfect for me. The crust was thin and crunchy just the way I like it! Load on the hot sauce! After eating we also tried random board games that were sorted by difficulty. If you need help, the owner (I think it was the owner?) can actually help you out. I saw that he stopped at multiple tables and seemed to be knowledgeable of the rules and different strategies involved in each game! I'm very impressed by this!! It wasn't busy so we weren't pressured to get kicked out in case there was a line of people waiting for tables. Surprisingly great pizza! I admit, I came here expecting decent food and nothing more, since a place that emphasizes board gaming for groups can probably expect its entertained clientele to be more forgiving of the food so long they're having fun with friends. But the food is genuinely very good. I like spicy food, so I went with the Vul-Kar!, which was the only pizza graced with two spicy warning symbols instead of just one. Luckily, to me it was mild and yet just spicy enough for the capsaicin to really add to the taste - just what I wanted! And the cheese - I haven't had nice, stringy, soft mozzarella like this in so long I'd forgotten what nice mozzarella on a pizza can be. This is the stuff teenage me couldn't wait to eat when the braces finally came off, a perfect blend of stretchy and chewy and tasty. The crust was nice and thin too, and everything else completed the pizza nicely, with tasty meat and sauce and peppers. The pizza was so good I almost forgot to review the dessert - tartufo, a really nice creamy ball of gelato powdered with cacao. Great way to end the meal. This place is such a hit to bring kids and catch up with friends. Their specialty are pizzas and they're not bad at all. They even have a Nutella dessert pizza which hits the spot but don't be surprised if you feel totally carbed up by the end of the night. This gem of a place has board games galore that I find myself just wandering the shelves just browsing all the weird and wonderful board games I have never seen or heard about. The best is when you come across a game that brings back childhood memories. You just need to entice the rest of your friends to play it as well. I've heard that the winner gets a free meal on a certain night. Great place and environment. There are even servers/helpers who will go over the game with you if you're not sure how to play.
