You will know once you walk into the dining room and see shelves of card and board games. With that in mind, food was secondary to us. Having a huge collection of board games to enjoy for hours while someone serving you food and drinks was a bonus. The fact that their pizza and caesar salad were all tasty was a plus. It was cold, so we were feeling like eating something warm. This place was nearby so we popped in, however, I quickly remembered why people come here to play games and then order food. We wanted to order tomato soup, but the service said that it's not recommended. We were surprised but took the suggestion and ordered the two cheese garlic bread instead. Turned out to be a little bland, so we got marinara sauce on the side. Now the pizza, we wanted veggie pizza, but the pizzas they had listed were not exactly what we wanted, so we looked at the right side of the menu and noticed that we could choose toppings and make our own pizza. We thought we understood and the server was trying to tell us that it is better if we order a pizza and then sub out toppings based on the ones that we want. But it didn't make sense, because on the very right was a make your own pizza and it said cheese zero dollars and then the rest would be added on top so we got nine toppings it should be about $18 which would equate the same as a pizza on the left side. So we went ahead with 9 toppings and our pizza ended up being $35. Such a fun concept to combine a board game bar and a pizzeria. You'd think the pizzas are just a gimmick but theyre actually very good quality, with a surprisingly extensive menu of options. What a great little spot for families to get together! My husband, daughter and I decided to stop in for some pizza Tuesday night since it was close to dinner time. Ludica had shelves and shelves of board games for us to choose from. We ended up playing Connect Four and Battleship. Pizza was good and they allow you to order half and half. They have a small selection of beer, but the options were perfect for us. There's also a kid's menu that comes with a small pizza or spaghetti, milk or juice and ice cream. Great place if you love to play board game. They have tons of choices of gameboard (even not as many as the one in chinatown location). They have choice for vegan for the pizza. Pizza is good because lots of toppings can be chosen, and pasta is also good. However their service is meh. This location is better than the one in chinatown (food taste wise). read more

This pizza is delicious!! We had the garlic breadsticks, the Duple, and the Pineapple pulled pork, with jalapeños on half (because when it comes to heat I'm a pansy but the men in my family are not) which is a bit of a twist on hawaiian. The crust is awesome, it's soft and has really good flavor especially after being wood fired. The toppings are fresh and flavorful. The beer is local. We enjoyed everything. The pizza is good but the service is terrible we had to get our own cutlery, straws ect. The server couldn't be bothered with any questions or help. If you don't want to be there then you shouldn't be. The food was fine we had it was slow and the place had 2 other tables. I was looking forward for a great pizza and good time the terrible service with the burnt pizza and wait simply not worth it. I would not waste my time here or suggest anyone else does either. My son and I went to Pizzeria Ludica last night for the first time. I ordered him the pizza he wanted then asked them to add mushrooms and olives to my side of the pizza. When it arrived, my half had just peppers and olives. They didn't return to the table to ask how our pizza was. They didn't bring my bill. Then I waited for 20 minutes for them to ring it up for me at the front. They are clearly understaffed and inexperienced. I also heard the staff talking about how disappointing it was that there were families there because they don't spend as much. The pizza itself was bland. The chorizo they used is cheap, greasy and lacking flavour. The crust was soggy and disappointing. The game that we played was damaged and missing a number of pieces. I would have been better off spending the money I spent here on buying a game and ordering in pizza. I really wanted to like this place. My 7 year old declared it the best restaurant ever because he loved the games. read more

I just moved into the area and wanted to venture out and try something outside the typical big chain pizza places. We ordered the Carcassonne pizza and Two-Cheese Garlic Breadsticks. Carcassonne pizza sadly was quite lacklustre. The flavour profile was overall one-noted, with no real distinction of the various toppings and ingredients in the pizza. The sauce was somewhat ok and the crust wasn't well balanced, becoming flaccid with falling toppings the minute you picked it up. Two-cheese garlic breadsticks was honestly just very thinly cut pieces of dough baked with the bare minimum of cheese and garlic olive oil. Again, hardly any pop of flavour there. I probably suggest they fluff the dough up and/or have a marinara or garlic oil dip to go with it to give a little more sensation to the palette. They were very timely with getting my take-out order, which was a positive experience. They had my order done exactly at the time estimated by the person over the phone. read more

Tried Pizzeria Ludica for the first time. It's a fun environment for a group of people to hang out. While the service was extremely slow, we filled our time playing games (which is kind of the point!) Everyone in my group loved their pizzas (so did i) the only disappointing thing about the menu is that they severely lack vegetarian and vegan options. They won't let you custom-make a pizza, but they will let you sub out any toppings to make it vegetarian or vegan. They also have a phenomenal gluten free crust! Probably one of the best I've had. Decided to check this place out for our weekly date night. Absolutely had a great time! There were tons of games to choose from, we decided on battle ship. The pizza wAs sooooooooo good! Super thin crust with delicious sauce and toppings. We got the plain margarita and tuluva. The only negative I can say is that the pizza is pretty small, thin and expensive for what you're getting. Like if you were to compare to getting 2 medium pizzas from Pizza Hut/ dominos/ etc etc, you would be stuffed and probably still have left overs for less. I'll still come here. We ordered by phone...they said it would be ready in 15 minutes...we got there in 10 and the pizza was already waiting for us! The pizza was great...we ordered the Maori...which is basically the adult version of Hawaiian pizza... with prosciutto crudo, pineapple, goat cheese, and fresh arugula...it was absolutely delicious. I really want to like this place as it's close to my house, I love pizza and the staff is really nice. It's just not great. I've given it three tries to make sure it wasn't just the pizza I'm ordering, but each time it seems a bit skimpy on cheese and not very flavourful. It's weird, I can't put my finger on what's wrong with the flavour. Is it the crust? The sauce? Not enough spices in the toppings? It's not terrible, something is just missing. I ordered the pizza bread once and it had some oregano-looking spices on pizza crust, maybe a bit of olive oil. No dipping sauce. It was super dry and I couldn't finish it. Last time I ordered from there a leftover piece sat in the fridge for days until I chucked it. This NEVER happens to me with pizza. I would almost eat a piece I found on the ground, so this is a sign it's time to give up. The main factor for me is price. It's about $15 for one of the vegetarian pizzas I like, and they're not that big. They don't do like small, medium and large there, it's just the one size. If it wasn't great quality but was cheap, I'd probably grab it from time to time and not complain. read more

So many games!!! I'm not going to lie, we do love pizza, but we came here solely for the games. We visited the downtown location twice, and new Westminster once. Both are solid choices The pizza was good, not really something I'd write home about but still pretty good; they have a great variety of toppings and even vegan options. We came very close to opening time and got a table right away all three times but they did have a lot of tables set aside for reservations so if you want to come anytime after 5:30pm, you should probably make a reservation a day or two in advance - at least at the downtown location. The New Westminster location is about a 6 minute walk from the metro station and definitely way less busy than downtown. The service was great, and we were pretty impressed with the affogato, you don't expect a pizzeria boardgame spot to blow you away with espresso but it happened I love that they list the games they have on their website too so you can do some research ahead of time! read more

I happened to be over at my brothers place last night and he lives quite close to this location. He ordered us the Attika pizza and the carcasonne pizza. Similar but both SOOOOO DELICIOUS. We just ordered and picked up but inside was really spacious. They even have game you can choose and play at your table. Pretty cool. Did I mention the pizza was DELICIOUS!!!! Highly recommended . I've been meaning to try this place and I finally did one night when I didnt feel like driving all the way to commercial and Broadway for pizza. We ordered the Vul kar because I love spicy. We got the pizza and when I opened the box, I was quite underwhelmed. The pizza was ok, it didnt taste bad just not great. Also the crust was just ok, if we had let it sit I feel like the crust would'vebeen hard and not re-heatable. I probably wouldn't order here again for the price point and I just wasn't impressed with my 1st experience. A great addition to the New West restaurant scene! We had a great time playing board games (we couldn't quite believe the huge number of board games they have!) and of course enjoying some absolutely terrific thin crust pizza. When I checked out their website, I was intrigued by the modern look and the opportunity to have some fun in between bites of pizza playing board games. The fact that they also had a stone pizza oven sealed the deal for me and I knew I had to check this place out. Boy oh boy it did not disappoint! Absolutely excellent and totally delicious thin crust pizza! Oh and they also had a reasonable selection of wine and local Vancouver craft beer to enjoy too.
