Cheesesteak

After getting rebuffed for dinner at nearby places, decided to try our luck at this pub on a Sunday night. Plenty of seating at the bar and they were thankfully still serving food. Pretty basic menu of pub favorites and some beers on tap. Settled on the Philly Cheesesteak ($14) to go along with a Sam Adams ($7). Cheesesteak is a simple layering of roast beef, melted American cheese, and onions inside a toasted hero bun. Decent taste and surprisingly not dry. The handful of fries were fresh and not overly salted; going well with some ketchup. Bartender here was super nice and explained which items were still available on the menu (lots of thigs nixed on a Sunday). Would be a good spot for some quick food/drink while watching a game.

What a gem! I went in a few weeks ago on a Friday because of the 5.00/6.00 buck special. Mussels or shrimp. End up having scampi. Huge portion. The portions on everything are enormous and everything looks good. Comfort food served with classic rock and a chill, friendly locals vibe. I'd come back to try the Shepherd's pie.

Yes they are open for takeout drinks and food. Service is being done through the front window. Menu is basically the same with minor exceptions. The prices are the best in LIC. Food is same good quality it's good to see them up and running!!

I frequently hang out at PJ Leahy's. Bridgette and Michelle are the best bartenders in the city. Highly recommend.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 8 Overall: 8 Four of us came here because I heard their fish and chips are very good. I am a sucker for this famous British/Irish deep fried goodness. Well, I can say without a doubt that this version is excellent (8.5/10) as described. The dish comes with three pieces that are crispy and tender. However, they gotta make a better tartar sauce than the ones they served in packets. Also, we switched out chips for onion rings. They were fantastic! I also really enjoyed their French Onion Soup (8/10) and the Shepherds Pie (7.5/10). The soup was flavorful without being too salty like most restaurants, while the pie had relatively fluffy mash potato with tasty ground beef mixture. The only item that was a slight letdown was the Chicken Pot Pie (6/10). The puff pastry was decent and so was the cream sauce. The problem was the overcooked and dry chicken breast meat. Our server was very friendly and always had a smile on her face. Btw, even though the space was basically a dive bar, the energetic 60's and 70's music was definitely a plus. Therefore, I gave it a slightly higher score for decor. All in all, this was a great experience.

At one time, Cronin & Phelan had a terrible reputation. Their patrons would hang out on the corner…read moreand stench up the street with cigarette smoke, then during the COVID period planned super-spreader parties, as advertised by their followers on social media. And that is why I boycotted them. Everything was very lax at that time, with little enforcement from the SLA. In October, my partner and I headed back to try their Irish breakfast and to see how things had improved. At the time, a large party was being held in their backroom, and we were not prepared to wait forever. We asked to speak with the owner, Mike Peacock, and told him we had to be at church to ring the church bells. We appreciated his dedication to getting us our food on time, but to be really honest, the Irish breakfast was not the best that could have been made.

The whole space wasn't too big, with a bar and some high tops. Even though Christmas was a few months ago, the place had a holiday feel due to the lights and Christmas tree. We weren't given a physical menu, just a QR code. Blackbird's offers five flavors of wings: mild, medium, hot, nuclear, and honey BBQ. I ordered a dozen ($15.95) mild wings which to my surprise, didn't come with carrots and/or celery. You do get your choice of ranch or blue cheese. I did like the sauce, though the wings were fried a tad too long. We ordered a side of fries ($7.95) which were pretty good too. The two servers checked on us regularly and were nice. Would return to catch a game!

After debating about staying or going, we were told about table may actually be leaving soon so it'd be more like 5-10 minutes. The wing Special is a dozen wings for $11 and $7 for half dozen. It comes with one sauce and dip and $.75 extra for any more. We put an order of 2 dozen wings in with medium, mild, and Honey bbq Sauces plus blue cheese. There is also a $6 draft beer special. The wings came out piping hot and we're so delicious. I couldn't tell which sauce was mild or medium and when asking a busser, he said he didnt know which was odd. Staff should know what their condiments look like to tell the difference. Luckily the medium wasn't bad so I was able to try it also. The wings are a pretty decent size so I got full after about 5 and took the rest home. Our waiter Leah was very friendly and helpful. She checked on us just enough and was very attentive. It seemed like she was the only server that night so and it was quite busy. She handled it all very well. We only came for the wings but I heard their other food is great too so I will definitely be back. As an fyi, wings day is cash only.

To my surprise the service was such incredibly fast they had juke box atm they had everything that I love in bars and honestly it's such an awesome thing. And in Superball weekend they have calender and to buy a box if you watch the super and you love football then please I highly recommend coming to veronicas bar and playing and having fun maybe youll make some money. I don't think they're food here so if you are bar hopping like I've been recently then I recommend looking for place to eat before it but they do serve food for certain holidays and like i assume like Christmas and like thanksgiving and from what I heard also super bowl Sunday. If you are interested in boxes for the Superbowl I highly recommend coming to veronicas bar and have a good night for the bar is so chilled and so fun.
