Whisky sour

The shepherds pie was absolutely delicious. Friends told us to come here for great food and they were right. The service was great, we sat at the bar to watch sports, eat, and drink. The bartender was very attentive. It has a bar/ diner feel very charming with plenty of seating. It wasn't happy hour but the prices were very reasonable. Looking forward to next time.

I fell in love with the Irish cider, the friendly, low-key atmosphere. Perfect place when you're just want to chill and relax, not loud nor crowded like a typical bar. If you're looking for a "me" time, this is the perfect spot. Drama-free too lol

French Onion Soup

How did I leave my last review 14 years ago? And I question my rating process with only 4 stars . Thank goodness Cronins survived Covid. They are still sending out the same amazing classics and have added great specials over the years. The French onion soup is still the most amazing concoction on earth and Cronins could only make it better if they offered it via IV. My mom and I love to share either the turkey or roast beef dinner platters with two soups and still end up with leftovers. The side of turnips is a comfort meal in itself. Potato leek is close second to the french onion. The staff makes the place that much better. The entire place is definitely invested in their patrons and community.. Portions are great and the price is amazing

True Score: 4.5 Star Bar The bar that changed my perspective about Astoria. What cool comfortable place with some outstanding food. You wouldn't think going into a simple Irish pub, but this place is pumping out some top notch items. Obviously being a true Irish pub you get some thick accents and people that like to drink and have a good time. It's pretty awesome actually, and the staff and patrons made us feel like we've been going in for decades. Fish and Chips, Shepherds Pie, Corned Beef Sandwich, all delicious. We ended spending 5 hours at this place, the people were so nice and wanted to have a great time. What an Irish a pub or any bar/tavern should be. Tip: The absolute greatest potato salad on the planet, I am not kidding. Just order it!!! Love this spot, thanks

Chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes, mashed turnips, fried fish sandwich with cheese, onion rings.

My wife and I had another great late afternoon/early evening date meal here. We both ordered from the expansive Friday specials menu. We shared a large house salad, which was good. She got chicken cordon bleu with mashed potatoes and mashed turnips. I got the fried fish sandwich with cheese and a side of onion rings. We were both very satisfied with our meals. We each got a pint of beer. Our waitress was very attentive. They give you so much we could only eat half of the food and took the rest to go. There was a nice mix of age groups there between 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. They have over a dozen TVs, most showing sports.

Had come here once before on a Friday night, but their limited outdoor seating was quickly taken up. Second time around, showed up later Thursday night to try some bar food inside. Surprisingly large menu for what seemed like a regular Irish bar. Quickly decided on the Irish Toasty ($12) to go along with a Guinness ($7?). Fantastic pour in the beer, sipping on while enjoying the plethora of TVs showing all the sports available. Sandwich comes out shortly after - a cheese/bacon/onion/tomato offering between toasted white bread. Good balance of flavor, especially with the loaded cheese; served alongside a pile of crispy fries and a pickle. Could have used some more salt, but the bacon in the sandwich helps. Service started off slow, then picked up as the night went along. Fine spot for some specials or a few beers when watching a game.

I enjoy coming to this neighborhood bar. Bartenders Peter and Dave are very attentive and have conversations with you. It is not loud so you can have conversations with friends.

The whole space wasn't too big, with a bar and some high tops. Even though Christmas was a few months ago, the place had a holiday feel due to the lights and Christmas tree. We weren't given a physical menu, just a QR code. Blackbird's offers five flavors of wings: mild, medium, hot, nuclear, and honey BBQ. I ordered a dozen ($15.95) mild wings which to my surprise, didn't come with carrots and/or celery. You do get your choice of ranch or blue cheese. I did like the sauce, though the wings were fried a tad too long. We ordered a side of fries ($7.95) which were pretty good too. The two servers checked on us regularly and were nice. Would return to catch a game!

After debating about staying or going, we were told about table may actually be leaving soon so it'd be more like 5-10 minutes. The wing Special is a dozen wings for $11 and $7 for half dozen. It comes with one sauce and dip and $.75 extra for any more. We put an order of 2 dozen wings in with medium, mild, and Honey bbq Sauces plus blue cheese. There is also a $6 draft beer special. The wings came out piping hot and we're so delicious. I couldn't tell which sauce was mild or medium and when asking a busser, he said he didnt know which was odd. Staff should know what their condiments look like to tell the difference. Luckily the medium wasn't bad so I was able to try it also. The wings are a pretty decent size so I got full after about 5 and took the rest home. Our waiter Leah was very friendly and helpful. She checked on us just enough and was very attentive. It seemed like she was the only server that night so and it was quite busy. She handled it all very well. We only came for the wings but I heard their other food is great too so I will definitely be back. As an fyi, wings day is cash only.

To my surprise the service was such incredibly fast they had juke box atm they had everything that I love in bars and honestly it's such an awesome thing. I don't think they're food here so if you are bar hopping like I've been recently then I recommend looking for place to eat before it but they do serve food for certain holidays and like i assume like Christmas and like thanksgiving and from what I heard also super bowl Sunday. If you are interested in boxes for the Superbowl I highly recommend coming to veronicas bar and have a good night for the bar is so chilled and so fun.
