Coach Danny is a wonderful Ex Pro MMA fighter and pioneer of the sport who is great teaching hobbyists and as well as aspiring jiujitsu and mma fighters at all levels. SoCal Combat Club is great at not overlooking any one's training as Coach Danny is great at prioritizing all students some may have experienced getting overlooked at other gyms due to the sheer size of the classes and though there are plenty of high level jiujitsu and mma practitioners to learn and train with at SoCal Combat club the class size is the perfect amount as to not get lost in the crowd. Three long rows of courts are pretty well spaced, with two-row bleachers at each, plus a TV that should have had the score up but instead flashed advertisements for the concession stand. The concession stand was out of probably half their items by 11:30 and the wrap I had was mediocre, though the fries my daughter had were pretty good (real hard to do a bad job on fries). I've seen some pretty good concession stands at this point, so a bit disappointing, especially knowing the tourney would be this big and they are charging $20 for parking and $20 a head to enter. Grateful for spots like this and hoping they can do a better job with food next time.

Then I found Fitness 19. It's smaller than most gyms, but that works in its favor. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. People actually come here to work out instead of sitting on a machine for 45 minutes scrolling through TikTok and guarding it like it's the Iron Throne. The place is clean, organized, and doesn't smell like a medieval battlefield after three days in the sun. Equipment is where it's supposed to be. Nobody seems determined to create chaos. My only complaint is that it isn't open 24 hours. Sometimes I get the urge to exercise at 2 a.m. after making poor dietary decisions and watching motivational videos that convince me I'm one workout away from becoming Batman. The pricing is reasonable, and they offer additional classes if that's your thing. Personally, I'm just a basic member, and the basic membership has everything I need. No gimmicks, no nonsense, no influencers filming workouts and then asking you to get out of their Oscar Worthy shot. For the first time in a long time,I don't dread going to the gym. Have a lot of outdoor tennis courts along w pickle ball courts. The restrooms are also really clean. Has a shower too. In the area near the office entrance, there are a lot of tables and chairs to sit and enjoy a meal or drink under the tree with shades. Have an ice machine open to use. Located off State College street. Lots of parking available. It's on a same property lot with a big park.
