Plainview Hospital right from ER they treated their patients with respect of course as a patient you have to understand ER will always be crowded and very busy. I wind up having an open appendoctomy luckily my surgeon Dr Jonathan Klonsky very down to earth human, his the best doctor I've ever met . I was in Plainview Hostipal for 10'days and iI've a lot of nurses (male and female) and assistant nurses who are on duty for me, they all very kind, gentle and very attentive. The staff was friendly, courteous, and attentive. I went in with a high fever, an upset stomach, and nausea and vomiting. I arrived around midnight, and was discharged and out by 2:30am feeling much better after being diagnosed with Viral Enteritis and given some fluids. Even the Janitor offered to turn one of the lights off because the room was so bright. read more

Joan T...who's paying you to write this review...spent two nights on the 3rd floor with pneumonia ...thought I was going to lose my mind...filthy...inattentive...etc. etc.....what I experienced was so very much what other reviewers wrote ...it is kind of ironic that you should eave this absolutely stellar care that no one else seems to have gotten. I have always received the best care when going to plainview hospital. Never a long wait,and the staff is amazing. Last Wednesday I had emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. From the triage nurse to the nurses and doctors and the entire staff they we're wonderful. The ladies in sono were extremely amazing, and helped keep me calm. Surgery went well and everyone was so nice,and took great care of me,keeping my husband updated and being so kind. Thank you to an amazing hospital for being thorough and going above and beyond. I had to go to the emergency room Saturday morning around 1am for a Kidney Stone. And I was operated on in a couple of hours after getting CAT scan. The doctor,Haberman, Jeffery (MD), Urology was great and he was there at 4am with his great staff to do the surgery. I was moved up to my room with great nurses and a team that took care of me non stop. I would rather die than go to this hospital. Horrible, horrible people! Why is it that my deceased father's belongings were returned to me 4 months later by another person who lost their family member? I mean are you that lazy and careless that you don't even look inside a damn wallet to see the name?? Not only a wallet but MEDICATIONS with a name on it as well. You people are just handing belongings out, including prescribed medications to all the wrong people. I smell multiple HIPPA violations coming your way. Where is your compassion?? Imagine finally having the courage to go through a bag of your family members belongings only to see that they aren't even their belongings?? Or imagine being me for instance, waiting months and months to hear back from the hospital wondering what happened to your fathers stuff??? Definitely will be looking into all of this. You are so careless with items I can't even imagine how careless you are with our loved ones. Most definitely will be hearing from my lawyer on multiple counts and violations. I can't believe how quickly a hospital can go DOWNHILL in all spheres. I brought a loved one to Plainview Hospital(call it what you'd like)a few days after this Christmas 2018 who I found out just had a heart attack.Did not show typical signs. Got no attention at all NO DR. besides ER doc quickly.(Was so swamped didn't even take pertinent medical history.)Residents then took over & since Plainview doesn't have cath.lab(wish I knew ahead of time) Even 911(EMS) would of taken my loved one to A Trauma 1 medical center NUMC WOULD OF BEEN BETTER. Then what we experienced & I make these statements as a medical professional. Residents & D.O.just out of school(In place of MD's) Plainview REFUSED a transfer request, more kike demand but professionally we call it "a transfer request." that MALPRACTICE, which it is. The place was a sh** hole. SOOOOOO DIRTY LITERALLY VISABLE FECES.Can't image what we couldn't see,THAT'S EVEN SCARIER. Was afraid rightfully so one of us or both were going to pick up some disease such as C.DIFF or a strain of E.COLI to name the most common. Actually we have both now have stomach issues & now need to give stool samples to rule out the above plus some other things.To top off heart attack this is exactly what a pt. needs!!! SOMETHING THAT COULD BE PREVENTED. When they moved the other pt. out of the room for new pt.to come in NOTHING WAS WIPED DOWN. NOTHING! REMOTE FOR TV, CALL BELL PHONE, NOTHING!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. BLEACH IS ONLY CHEMICAL THAT KILLS C.DIFF which is a virulent bacteria, possibility deadly that has been on the rise.They took no precautions knowing my loved one came in with compromised immune system. Which I knew they were aware of since I spoke to nurse about it to confirm.This bacteria use to only be TRANSFERRED from IN hospitals mostly from unsanitary conditions.On another note they had no regard for HIPPA, that's your privacy. There was a patient there with the bacteria C.DIFF & once her diagnosis was confirmed they took no precautions to clean patient(pt.) bathroom in which she used as they put her in isolation. WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US?(unisex bathroom)Considering there was visible feces in bathroom in ER(now imagine that traffic)despite the cleaning person(s) going in multiple times they did nothing to 1.CLEAN VISUAL FECES 2.Replace seat protectors 3.MOST IMPORTANT IT TOOK AT LEAST OVER 4 HOURS (I say at least b/c it was like that when we got there) TO GET THE SOAP DISPENSER REFILLED & THE SINK UNCLOGGED which was filled w/ H20 so one couldn't even rinse hands, not that that would of done anything. NOW THIS WAS THE PATIENT BATHROOM THAT THE PT. WITH THE CONFIRMED CASE OF THE BACTERIA C.DIFF WAS USING. WHICH MEANS SHE NOR ANYONE ELSE COULD NOT WASH THEIR HANDS!!! MULTIPLE NURSES EVEN ADMITTED TO SHORTAGE OF RN's. -REGARDING OVERALL CARE my loved one disconnected heart monitor, blood gas readings, thats tng they put on ur finger, blood pressure cuff & IV for over 3 hrs. Despite what resident & a nurse(nurse ment well just had to many patients & admitted so) said, that they have screen that is read in nursing station AT ALL TIMES by nurses 24-7 NOT 1 NURSE PICKED THIS UP! A HEART ATTACK PATIENT WITH NO MONITORING FOR OVER 3 HOURS. ANY OTHER HOSPITAL THIS PATIENT,MY LOVED ONE WOULD BE IN CRITICAL CARE.(They had no beds but remember refused to transfer which this case called for for lack of equipment)Now this hospital use to take amazing care of my Mother what the heck happened, I have no idea. I had no biases yet now you have 100% truthful information.NO OPINIONS,JUST FACTS.YOU MAKE YOUR OWN DECISION WOULD YOU WANT YOU or YOUR LOVED ONE TREATED HERE. God forbid you get in an accident & Northwell Plainview is closest hospital for example EMS(Emergency Medical Services) will give you a choice if its the closest hospital, Plainview or NUMC. I'd never thought I'd say this but if I had to do it all over I'd go to NUMC if those only 2 choices. read more

ER took a long time to get people in. After they did, I shared an ER room with a violently ill person. These aren't even a real part of my complaint. After knowing I was being admitted, they admitted me and left me in the same ER room with the same violently ill man next to me all night long. He at least got an actual bed, where as my 6'3 frame spent the night with my legs hanging over the edge of a gurney. Oh and nobody even gave me a pillow. They told me to roll up a sheet and use that. Worse yet, they couldn't find out what the issue was. Come 2 weeks later, I'm in the ER that;'s located in Stony Brook, NY. They figure out exactly what's wrong (ruled out by Plainview mind you) and I had thought was wrong in the first place. I guess things went great for these 5 star reviews, but if you're not really close to this ER, I'd pick a different one. Side Bar: The nurses here were pretty great. They were up to their eyes in patients and still remained professional despite taking a while to respond to requests for medicine, etc. read more

My mom and I were there yesterday. Her nurse was Kathy. From the moment we walked in the door to when we left, my mom was treated with the most incredible respect compassion and care. The nurse, Kathy, was so wonderful, gentle and.patient. I believe we were on 3west for an outpatient procedure. First time ever to go to this hospital. Had a procedure done everyone was very polite and efficient. After a few days at home from the procedure I looked into the bag where my clothing were and I saw a thank you card from the employees that had assisted in my care. I thought that was very thoughtful and it made me smile. I also love the fact that they have valet parking. All in all a great experience for an unfortunate situation. There was zero wait time in the ER, which was amazing. LIJ usually has a wait time of 3-4 hours give or take. The staff was also very kind and accommodating. For anyone who wants a closely knit team should defiantly come to Plainview. It just feels more homey read more

My nurses were outstanding, all of them! Erin, Christine, and there were others but in all the chaos due to my late arrival (mix ups, but not the hospital's fault at all) Each was quick to be sure to get me in and worked extra hard as per the situation. The IV Erin put in was a tough spot in the hand but she didn't hurt me or leave a bruise which I have had in the past and was so efficient! All the while with a great attitude (as they all did) Others were working to get my information into the computer and I wish I could remember her name as she also should be mentioned for her professionalism and excellence! After my surgery In Recovery Christine (RN) was absolutely the perfect person to wake up to when you are not feeling g at all well (so sick after - ughh) She was caring and took action in each symptom event that made me either nervous (shaking and convulsive type movements) and or super uncomfortable (vomiting after many incisions around The stomach area (Her is survey Bellybutton) Her comforting words and actions made me incredibly thankful to have this particular nurse during a very touching few hours and without hesitation can say she did everything she could, and then some, to make me comfortable In Every way and I can't thank her enough for that care and kindness read more

Went to this hospital for out patient surgery a few days ago. I will admit that my brushes with this place in the past have been mostly unsatisfactory, but they really have stepped up their game. The intake person at the desk was very efficient and pleasant. All the nurses were VERY nice, very efficient, and the place itself looked very clean. The policy is that you are taken in approximately 90 minutes before your scheduled surgery in order to be prepped. They were running a bit late on the day I was there, and since I started to get nervous waiting I especially appreciated the nurses talking to me, and trying to calm me. I was treated with kid gloves all the way. The only misstep was they failed to call the person who was designated to pick me up when I was ready. The number was clearly recorded on the form by the intake person, but for some reason the discharging nurse was insisting the designated person was in the building, and kept on paging them. They called the following day to see how I was doing. I'm definitely impressed. I hope the other areas of the hospital have improved as well. read more

They got me in and out quickly but DID NOT help at all with my pain and symptoms! The nurse was so sweet. The doctor not so great! I walked in with extreme colic pain in my abdomen I was throwing up but had no fever. The doctor took urine and blood gave me zofran for nausea and sent me for an ultrasound of my gallbladder. Oh and ha e to add Dr did not care about my pain at all did not even try anything to alleviate it! After that she came back asked if I had a history of kidney stones and I do. I asked if the pain could be my stomach she said most likely but you have to follow up with a GI! I asked the nurse cant they do more tests to figure out where the pain is coming from? She replied it depends on the doctor you get. Ok still had pain down my left side and that was not evaluated at all only the upper right quadrant. A CT of my digestive tract should have been the next step. Not a discharge! read more

We sent our elderly father to the hospital when his BP dropped. His 1st night there he had to be sedated in the middle of the night and he was overly sedated and as a result was "out" for nearly 30 hours. During that time he wasn't eating or drinking and he lost a lot of weight he couldn't afford to lose. I later found out that the protocol for sedation is small doses 1st then another small dose if the 1st one doesn't take. The Dr on call gave dad a huge dosage. The nurses at this hospital are great, but some of the Drs are the bottom of the barrel. I believe the above contributed to my Father's recent passing bc he came home in an enervated condition from which he never recovered. This hospital is better for people with broken arms, not for the elderly. read more

Oh my God I have never had such a bad experience with a hospital. My boyfriend was admitted on Friday and we have gotten nothing but different stories from the different Dr's. The rooms are so small regardless of where you sit or stand your always in someone's way. And since the 4 day stay here he has had only one nurse that has been nice and caring. All the other nurses have just had an attitude or have not been around when needed. I mean he hits the call button and it takes 15 mins for someone to show up. I mean if his heart stopped or he was not breathing he would be dead. Don't come here if you can help it. read more

I was in plainview hospital not very long ago critically Ill. There were four doctors taking care of me & so many ICU nurses its unreal. I had to be on a vent & was tottally dependent on mainly the nurses. There is a lot I don't remember but what I can tell you from my own memory is that most of the nurses who took care of me were wonderful. There's one that sticks out above all! I called her the drill seargent of the ward! She was a great nurse & took such good care of me. The doctors informed me that it was a miracle I survived. They were wonderful to me. They're was one nurse who was rude &nasty that unfortunately will not forget! She made fun of me as did other nurses that really had nothing to do with my case all because when the vent was out something happened & I needed a nurse right away but didn't know how to get their attention & called my mom who in turn called them. They couldn't understand why I just didn't use the call bell. Well after being as sick as I was & just comming off a vent I had no clue how to. How I called my mom I'll never know. But all in allthey were great & saved my life. Thank you to all the docs & nurses minus one! read more

Let me start by saying I went there for an x-ray of my finger to ensure there was no bone fragments in the joint. I was sent there for a reason. I understood the fracture had healed, but I was told x-rays then more care. So firstly, the RN who met me couldn't speak English enough to understand me. He couldn't spell my name - even though THREE people told him how to spell it. Once I was in the holding area, I was treated poorly by the nurse. I heard her talking about my case to the doctor and commenting that there was nothing they could do for me etc etc... NO KIDDING BUT I NEEDED AN X-RAY! So the doctor comes over, introduces himself and tells me my x-ray is clear and I need to see a specialist. I should state that my x-rays had yet to be taken. He hadn't even looked at my chart. He couldn't be bothered to help. I listened to them treat a man getting sutures out with the utmost respect but me - like crap. I won't be going to this hospital if I can avoid it. read more
