Hello, my name is Brian and I would like to share my story with you, hopefully what happened to me doesn't happen to more people. I joined my local planet fitness in Bellevue Washington. The club was decent and at first a good deal. A few weeks after joining the gym I was doing bench press and ended up tearing my left rotator cup. I immediately knew something was wrong. I went to the doctor and they sent me to physically therapy for 3 months which didn't impress the injury. During this time i ask the manager to cancel my membership because i couldn't lift anything. He said you just paid your yearly membership so why don't i pause it. I did that and continued to getting a MRI and finding a Surgon. I realized one day my account was being billed and i called in and ask why i was being billed. The manager said i will work on it and you won't be billed tell you come back to the gym. Here I am a few years later and I just realized i have been paying for my membership for months. I went in and talk to some smart kid maybe 20 years old that basically told me there was no one i could talk to about this. No managers name, told me no manager was there. Said there was no phone number i could call to get my money back. No costumer service phone number???? Anyways I asked to cancel on the spot and they said your still getting billed for this next month......I got furious and felt like i was really just a number and not a person. Finally a manager cameout and helped me cancel. I was billed close to $1000 dollars over the last few years and i asked to have my account paused. If you do join, make sure you watch them like a hawk, only work with managers to get things handled on your account and know there is know one you can talk to if you ever have a problem with your bill. This location has quite a few newer machines. The layout for the weight machines is actually really nice. The machines here have a counter for your reps & a timer on them. Although the counter was not always working. The weights in the machines are in both kg and lbs. The crowd here gives gold gym vibes. Lots of men in the free weights in front of the mirror. And everywhere else it seemed. There seemed to be less room here to do free style exercises whether it was by the free weights or in personal training area. I didn't check out the black card area but it looked nice from the outside. Definitely looked more comfy and more inviting than the one I use at my standard location. It seemed like there were plenty of cardio machines for the crowd but definitely less than the location I visit. read more

1. This facility use a male doing routine cleaning in Woman's locker room. I do shower after work out , and seeing a man in the bathroom. it was super uncomfortable. I reported , but it did not change anything. 2. Today after work out, I went into women's bathroom, doing a shower, finding out there was no hot water, I waited for about 5 minutes , still only cold water. I wanted to have someone around to inform the front desk. but I was the only one in the bathroom. I then wrapped myself with a towel, walked to the door, sticking my head out , seeing a lady walking by, So I asked her to inform front desk that there was no " hot water ". 3. A black lady walked in , I know she works there, so I ask about the hot water. She instantly accusing me that I should not walked out " without cloth on" . I was shocked about her accusation and very angry. a. She totally did not know " customer service" . b She was very bossy , speaking in a extremely disrespect and impolite tone. c. She should be fired. d. Later on I find out she was the vice manager. not fit for the position . 4. Do not go here if you have somewhere to go . read more

This is a clean gym. The workers are very friendly. They always greet you and someone is out on the floor cleaning every time u have been there. I have found a few pieces of equipment that were broken and the staff immediately came over to take a look. I am impressed by this gym. The only thing I would say that could be better is the "busy" meter on the app. It never changes, no matter how busy. But that's a small thing. read more

after explaining to the associate at the front that I needed to put money on my card because they don't accept cash the nice male associate said no worries and allowed me to work out. while I was working out a woman named jasmine abruptly disrupted me saying she needed to take payment when I tried to explain what I did to the man up front she interrupted me saying no she needs to take the payment now. Terrible customer service I've been a member at this gym for 10 years and I'm honestly thinking about canceling my membership all together. there are so many other words I'd like to use in this review but it wouldn't see the light of day. Overall, it's a good gym, but I think they should take a cue from the Ballard and Issaquah locations by removing the circuit training area and adding more free weights. There's also barely any space for people who want to use mats or stretch, which would be a big improvement. Add a hip thrust machine like Issaquah read more

This gym is good and clean. Stinks something FOUL sometimes (if you know you know...) but it's a gym, people sweat, that's to be expected. Maybe invest in a couple more fans though. Not sure what they're paying these staff but they need a raise--they're always incredibly nice. Didn't give me crap for downgrading my membership a couple months back. Wish I knew the names of the staff because I'd give them a shout-out, every single one has been kind. The dude that's complaining about "locker break-ins" clearly just didn't have his locker locked. Pretty easy solution. Buy a lock. I suggest the master lock speed dial, it's what I use. For gods sake this is Bellevue, it's where all the soft rich people live, this is probably the safest gym in the entire Puget Sound. Sometimes there's teenagers that behave like morons but they're easy to ignore and they usually don't actually lift and leave pretty quick. It's annoying when 6 little kids hog a smith machine for an hour but it's rare to happen in the first place Special shoutout to the chill jacked old dudes that seem to be here every day. When I first came to the gym one evening, I met Nahome, whose friendliness and warmth really stood out. He made the whole experience inviting, so much so that I decided to come back the next night and ultimately joined. The gym has a welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of TVs showing different stations, and the people here seem laid-back. It was difficult to downgrade my membership. I ended up going to another local gym. Note that many of the replies the owner commented on people's reviews say cancellation "typically" requires signature. They don't need a signature to cancel your membership. It took to the extent of me breaking down in the lobby and having to go to the bathroom to hide from embarrassment and calling for my partner to come pick me up before staff cancelled my membership W/OUT my signature from how frustrating it was to downgrade my membership. It took to that extent. I felt bad for the staff who had to deal with me and absolutely didn't expect this level of emotional damage from signing up for a gym membership. Management here decides the rules. They just want to make it as hard as possible for you to downgrade or cancel to keep your money. If your emotions/sanity matters to you more than a cheap membership/ money, don't sign up here. I live in the neighborhood walking distance, and I rather drive to my current gym than walk to Planet Fitness to get my reps in. read more

This is a followup on my previous review from July 19. After the locker break in last month and police being called to this gym, I started carrying my gym bag with me while working out. Planet Fitness did not replace the broken lock or apologise for the break in or the theft. Today, the bag attracted another manager who announced I could not carry it with me, and demanded that it be placed in a locker. Explaining the recent break in at their location and the theft of my personal items (wallet, keys, car) did not help. She said my membership would be canceled and honestly, I did not argue. I gave her my account details and left 5 minutes later. Consequently, Planet Fitness has lost my membership. Customer service is pretty much non-existent. About 10 minutes later, I opened an account at another gym nearby (different company) and started my workout, while carrying my gym bag with me and without being harassed by the staff. read more

Best location in the cluster of the others around. Staff is friendly, facilities are actually well maintained and cared for. Kayla is a Rockstar! Injured myself fairly badly and she kept her composure and helped explain to me where the nearest urgent care was. This location is the only reason why I keep my membership going. read more

Two out of four showers in the men's locker room do not work. Queues can be created. That's very bad.

This planet fitness is really clean and has lots of machines. It doesn't get too crowded and has nice staff. It's purple everywhere and is open concept, so it can get overwhelming. read more

I signed up at Planet Fitness just after it opened. The machines were shiny and plentiful, the locker rooms and gym clean. I go to the gym irregularly, but when I do, my cardio workouts are HIIT intense followed by strength training. i usually have about an hour to complete my workout, so access to the machines is crucial. I went in the other day around 2:30pm after being away for some weeks. In the locker room, were three middle school age boys. They had somehow brought their scooters into the locker room and were using their phones. They were dressed in street clothes and apparently had no intention of exercising. How were they using their phones? Email? Internet? Recording? There was no way to know. Out on the gym floor, only 2 of the 7 treadmills I tried would connect to my Polar H10 strap. Only one displayed the same HR that my connected Polar app did. In the weight area, pre-teens and barely teens lounged on several of the machines. They weren't dressed out or exercising, just sittng on nearby machines while one or two of their friends exercised. Gym etiquette is at a minimum, especially on the pec machine. I watched one man do 10 sets of 12 with a one minute recovery between sets. He ignored anyone who was waiting. I've found the staff to be pleasant and helpful but generally tending toward the lackadaisical. Maybe that's why they tended to barricade themselves behind the front desk instead of doing frequent checks of the locker rooms and enforcing the posted rules. Until the operation at Planet Fitness Bellevue is tightened up, it will be more of a stage for fashion statements instead of a place for serious workouts. read more

It would be great if the staff answered the phone. I have tried for over a month (prior to opening) to fix the membership. I went once and the AC was broken and lacking benches. I should have canceled while in there but held off. Again, nobody answers the phone and when I tried to go in, it was closed at 12:30pm for AC. They are closed after the billing cycle goes through so the only way to cancel is in-person or certified mail. What a joke this place is. Just go somewhere else. read more

How are they going to advertise a 5/24 schedule, entice new members to join (especially those relying on early morning/late night access), and then update their schedule to 10am-6pm on weekdays and 9am-3pm on weekends? My membership was revoked today for "taking pictures of girls." That is creepy and untrue. I took pictures of people taking up the equipment while texting on their phones. Of 23 pictures, there were 3 pictures with females in them. I have complained about this previously, but there has been no response. Planet Fitness allows members to tie up equipment for quite a long time while texting. It is well accepted. I go to a fitness center to exercise and then to go to work. I want to go in, do the physical work, then leave. I do not appreciate the members taking so much time using the equipment for texts and phone calls while in the gym. That indicates that the fitness center is a communications center or a phone center. Crossroads Mall is close, the KCLS library is close, even the lobby is right there. It is not right to take up equipment for phone use. I would like a gym rule that tying up equipment for texting and phone calls is not allowed. You have a rule against recording it. read more

I've been going to planet fitness for years. A co worker advised me to change after the high costs at LA fitness. I've been very happy with planet fitness. The only reason I writing is because of a negative review. Yes, there could be improvement on the cleanliness and member using a machine too long. But that's with every gym. But as for lack of community, that's not the case. I am a person of gender. I don't see the lack of community. If so, I don't see the black or special needs members being discriminated. I've never been bullied at planet fitness in fact the opposite. Every work environment is going to have issues. But thinking you're routinely privileged or prioritized over another is not right no matter. I highly recommend the Bellevue Planet Fitness. read more

Okay - the showers can have cold water; but this is an unsolved problem for the last 10 years (Crunch Fitness had the same issues). The timing being 10-6 on weekdays? Seriously? It has been 5AM-11PM for me. I think you are being ridiculous. You people did not mention the super clean new equipment that is a pleasure to use. Compare it to the very busy and very "aromatic" LA Fitness. Easy parking, new equipment, focus on cleanliness, plentiful lockers, timings that are better than any other area gym... I love this Gym - still have my membership at LA Fitness but the dead animal smell as soon as you enter the change area is a complete turn-off and I have not been there since PF opened. You want PF to improve something? Ask them to install small Saunas in the bathrooms - they have space. Ask for more Kettle Bells. Otherwise, it is the perfect gym for people of all levels. I absolutely enjoy my workouts here! Everything is clean and there's plenty of space for everyone to not feel cramped. The black card spa is the best benefit by far! I was a little confused on how to get started and what each machine in the spa was for but Brian was super helpful and knowledgeable about what each machine was and what were the benefits. I'm a new member of Planet Fitness and the hours work for me. Also it's not very crowded when I go which I'm happy about. I wish their A/C made the place cooler - it's a bit warm in there when I exercise but it's very clean, and the exercise equipment is new. For $10/month with a low annual fee, it's well worth the money, I would recommend it - besides it's right next door to the police station at Crossroads. 5th and Final Cold Shower at Planet Fitness. Open for barely a month, I have had at different times every single one of the four womens room showers only run cold water. I was given endless nonsense excuses. The first shower that happened I was told that particular stall shares a valve with a maintenance sink behind it and the valve prioritizes the maintenance sink. Does not work that way according to the plumber in the family. Second time water was cold I was told the newly half installed AC system must be the reason why. Don't need to be a contractor to know those are separate systems. Third time same staffer asked me, "What do you want me to do about it?" How about informing management who have the authority to address the issue? Fourth cold shower I asked for the name and business card of manager. Got a first name and apparently no business cards existed. I left a note explaining the situation and asked to be contacted. Two full business days later and zip. Tonight after my 5th cold shower I canceled my membership. The excuses reached new and absurd highs. It was peak capacity, that was why. Huh, a bulding rated for 300 people had 25-30 present. Nobody was showering in the women's room when I arrived, as I showered or at the time I left. I was also told my prior four cold water experiences were all due to peak demand. Except my visits varied widely at different times and days of the week. Honestly I never once saw the place busy. My favorite excuse tonight was, well, we have been checking and checking the water in the women's room constantly. Sure, that is why I found garlands of paper towels all over the floor in a bathroom with only hot air hand dryers. Also got to enjoy assorted personal care products a prior guest had left in the only shower to reach barely tepid before suddenly reverting to ice cold and back to possibly approaching lukewarm. Staff has clearly been checking the state of the ladies room so often they didn't notice the ADA stall for folks with mobility challenges had the seat down with the removable showerhead on full force for who knows how long before I found it in my search among the stalls for any water less than freezing cold. But sure, must have been the high volume of clients none of whom were using the women's showers during my entire 1.5 hour visit. I am sure the cold water this final visit was due to the water being left on for an indeterminate amount of time prior to my discovering it. It is the only situation thus far that has made sense. After cancellation I asked for a print out reflecting the termination. Front desk computer terminals are not hooked up to any printers, nor do they have internet access so a confirmation email or even a screen shot sent to me was not an option. I had to make do with taking a picture of the screen with my cell. On top of all that there was a billing hiccup with my first payment. Eight phone calls to customer service and an ignored message left for the Crossroads location manager and I finally got PF's error resolved in two weeks while I continued to get text messages letting me know there was a problem. I can't believe what a clown show my less than a month with Planet Fitness has been. The endless nonsense excuses I was given would make a fantastic comedy set. In this situation they were simply insulting as if I could not possibly know what utter nonsense they were. Perhaps the guy who doesn't understand basic plumbing and assumed I don't either should go into creative writing instead. read more

My son loves working out at Planet Fitness. We love the price. It's so nice to have a neighborhood gym that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Parking is plentiful and if you go later in the evening, it's never too busy. My only request is that they add a family plan as more of our family members would like to use the gym. read more
