The staff are fine..now and the Blackcard amenities are valuable and clean. Cant same the same about the equipment. Always dusty, some cracking and poor padding, really lacks choices. Most reviews are about the management or cost . I'm a Sliver Sneaker customer. This program is great. I have used it at another gym and now at Planet Fitness. I'm loving the equipment . My favorite is the rowing machine. Not many people use this piece of equipment. There rower isn't an Aviron but it gets the job done. My only thing that Planet Fitness should change is the way to wipe down the equipment. I don't like the spray bottle liquid into a paper towel. I feel it doesn't clean the equipment down enough. After consultations with different veterans groups Representatives, along with the State of Oregon-Bureau Of Labor and Industry complaint of retaliation towards the businesses involved. This disabled veteran will be cancelling their membership to planet fitness in Bend Oregon. I am a disabled veteran. I have spinal, abdominal, leg, chest, and head injuries along with severe PTSD. I've asked the staff at planet fitness in bend Oregon to respect us disabled veterans. Especially in regard to the handicap parking. Instead of hearing the Veteran, management made up complaints towards the veteran, and when asked what complaints were made and to see them, and why didn't management ever come to this veteran about complaints about said disabled veteran. Management can't come up with an example which makes things seem speculative. It was one of those aha I get it moments. He said people ask what's wrong with you? And I replied what do they say what's wrong with me. Do you ever explain my disabilities to them? He said he tries to explain my disabilities to people there at planet fitness and the customers just don't care. I can tell you what it is... I'm a United States Marine that was severely injured serving his country and the people of the great State of Oregon. It has become a rather apparent that disabled veterans are not wanted to be customers at planet fitness nor to live in Bend Oregon. I guess they feel us disabled veterans are unsightly. Upset about hidden fees... We had already had 15 visits each for the month and randomly got stopped because you can apparently only have "ten" visits before being charged a $5 fee. We have been traveling the country a month at a time visiting planet fitnesses in every city for the past year and have never run into this experience. We only had two days left in the month and they still wouldn't let us in without paying. This is a ridiculous fee especially for already paying premium. I noticed a $10 fee that was not anything I purchased and no reason for that to happen. I called the club and was told they had no idea what that charge was for, at that point I was given a phone # for the billing company. I call the billing company, at which point I am told they have no records of that billing. I call back planet Fitness and ask again about these charges, again: we have no idea, send us an email. I have now been on the phone for over an hour, I am not happy my frustration comes out and the associate tells me he doesn't appreciate how I am speaking with him and calls me a "baby for complaining about a $10 charge" Then proceeds to hang up on me. So I go back and look at what they have been charging me, turns out there was another $20 charge neither they or the billing company can explain, not only that I look into my billing and discover that they changed me my "annual fee" which I was told included the first month, yet they charged me the monthly fee 19 days later. I took a better look and see that after the first year they charged my account the annual fee 3 days earlier and my monthly fee again another 19 days earlier than it should have. Snakes on A Plane! Okay, but seems to be suffering from a common ailment I have seen at gyms over and over again through the years, and that is... Over selling! It gets to where there are too many people arriving, checking in, dressing or undressing, and working out ... at the same time! We are Black Card members, which means we have hydro massage, light enhanced vibration massage, and massage chair for our use. This is not the elegant pass one would imagine, when you are shoved aside from the counter by over sixty year old women with too much time on their hands, attempting to block out a massage time, or demand an appointment with a trainer. All in all, it becomes depressing; after staying just a bit we had to leave. The gym should be an uplifting place to go, a place that inspires one to move and play, stretch physical limits, test abilities... But when it becomes about navigating through a maze of machines and pushy retirees, it's an experience we would rather not have. We will likely be canceling our membership soon. Update: In September the Club front desk person (Scott?) updated my account status - and credited my account properly. My wife owned a CrossFit gym in the Jackson hole area. While the CrossFit gym, and planet fitness are different business models... It's still important to cultivate your member community. One thing that was blatantly missing during the initial Covid shut down was communication from this gym to members. We have several friends from the seacoast of New Hampshire, who are Planet Fitness franchise owners, and who also believe in this business model. Helping your members transition to a home fitness plan, during Covid, and keeping them updated on fees and other important information strengthens your tribe. Best gym in the area! Visited here from out of town on a Sunday morning with my bf and his dad. A guest pass is $20.00. I'm glad I have a membership. The gym was not crowded and there was plenty of parking in the huge lot. The gym was very modern with a HUGE selection of cardio equipment (numerous ellipticals, treadmills, steppers,bikes, rowers, seated bike/ elliptical, and even an ergo trainer). The gym was well organized with a 30 min workout area, abs & legs area, free weights area (no bench press), cardio area, black card area, etc. The gym was clean as there were wipes and sprays available and everyone seemed to be cleaning up after themselves. The equipment was new so obviously in good condition. I did notice that a few of the elliptical needed their feet adjusted as they were wobbly. The locker rooms were very nice and modern. Highlights include the locks you set yourself (so no need to bring a lock just be sure to remember your locker number and the combination) and private dressing areas. The staff was friendly. The vibe was relaxed and friendly. It was relatively quiet and seemed to live up to it's "no judgement" promise. No one set off the Lunk Alarm during our visit. For a gym in Bend, this one rates a 4.6, which rounds up to a 5. *This is not a "heavy lifter" gym. read more

I am on a 3,000 mile motorcycle trip to spread my fathers ashes. I road 80 miles out of my way to go to a city with a gym that I am a member of. I was denied entry for wearing motorcycle boots. They aren't loud or offensive or tough guy oversized timberlands or anything that the "no work boots" rule is made for. Luckily enough a corporate manager was on hand and I very politely requested to speak to her assuming this rule had some pretty obvious acceptions. Riding 3,000 miles on a bike every single square inch of my storage has to be as compact as possible. I did not bring any extra shoes nor do I have any room for them. I was told I could not work out there even in thick riding socks. My only solution was to take off my motorcycle boots at Planet Fitness and ride to a local store in socks and purchase shoes there then ride back and then throw them out after I was done. This was offered as a solution. I really couldn't believe what I was hearing. The corporate manager clearly didn't care about me or the location or her job. I then politely requested to cancel my membership since I was paying for a gym that I am not allowed to enter and that was the highlight of her day when she informed me that wasn't possible. The only way to cancel was to fly to Salt Lake City, Utah and do it in person or have a notarized letter with no particular form or description or supplied address sent to Salt Lake City utah telling them I would like to cancel. The delight she took in being this mean to me for no reason was unreal. I was so delighted to finally get to a gym after a week of riding. I purchased drinks at the front desk and told them how excited I was. To be treated like this just so somebody could feel better about themselves is disgusting. I was extremely rational and offered every possible solution available and was denied. Planet Fitness doesn't even exist anywhere near my home in Houston I got a membership because then are in a lot of cities and it's convenient. They are an awful company and this location is overseen by an awful individual who is acting in her own personal self interest of being a bully. This is a great gym. The guys (and gals?) here work hard and keep the place running smoothly. Sure, they could update some equipment, but it is still well worth the price of membership and cleaner than a lot of the PF i've been to. The locker room is very clean and I would actually shower here if I didn't live so close by. If you have a black card, you get access to the lounge and tanning, which is great during the winter months. I look forward to my workouts here - thanks guys! read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. First off I had to call in 10 times before anyone decided that they wanted to pick up. When I looked at the capacity meter, it appeared that it was low and there was not a lot of foot traffic in the gym. I let them know that I was getting emergency back surgery and that I would need to A - cancel the gym membership or B - put a hold on my account. They would not work with me and said I need a doctors note to prove I'm getting surgery. To be able to cancel they wouldn't do it over the phone with me knowing I'm having issues with my back. They said I would need to come in and cancel and they were unwilling to work with me knowing my current situation. Im disgusted with the way that that this gym is ran and how the staff handles situations. Having explained my current situation, they should have done the right thing and worked with me. I will he canceling and I will continue to ensure that my voice is heard about the terrible experience that I've had with this gym. Kendall, the club manager, is both rude and ignorant. I sometimes cannot wear the required close-toed shoes at the gym because I have a very painful (not contagious) skin disease called pan-sclerotic morphea on my feet and lower legs. A couple weeks ago, I came to the gym wearing Birkenstocks- the only type of footwear I can comfortably wear when the condition is flaring up. I briefly explained the problem to Kendall-- showing him my very red, swollen feet (see photos) and he seemed to understand. I told him I would not be doing any cardio or anything strenuous and he said "no problem." After that initial experience, I thought he understood that I had a legitimate disability and didn't think that I would need to explain the situation to him again on subsequent visits. So when I went back to the gym last week and he was again on duty, I did not tell him that I was again wearing my Birkenstocks. Toward the end of my routine, he saw me walking through the middle of the gym and he loudly scolded me within earshot of many other members. When I tried to remind him of our prior conversation, he acted like I had imagined it and was making it up. He very rudely said, "I never agreed to let you wear those. I can cancel your membership for you if you want." I did cancel my membership and also my wife's membership. But I'd like to know how a company that's advertising a "judgement free" zone can effectively bar people who have a disabling medical condition by creating a rule that they cannot follow? Even aside from the club rules, how about treating people with respect and like the paying customers we are? read more

Started going here in April of '18, and LOVED it. Got easy, consistent access to a trainer for personalized workouts, and the variety of equipment is great. It's always clean and neat, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Daniel (the trainer) is awesome. However, they have completely over-sold memberships to the point that I haven't been able to actually use my membership in a month or two now. They've started mandating parking stickers in/on cars in the parking lot, towing any violators, but it's still a nightmare to find a spot every time I go, and then I have to wait for a turn at accessing a locker (more and more of which are breaking and remaining un-repaired), and then wait for a turn on nearly every machine that isn't cardio. This turns a 45 minute workout into about a 2 hour ordeal of waiting around. Now, I don't know how much of that is attributed to the new year's resolution-ers who will ultimately fall off, but it's to the point now that I haven't been able to use the gym at all. I'm all for having a cheap membership, but maybe enforce a limit of memberships? Or open a second location? The current situation is completely unsustainable. read more

Planet fitness Bend will harass you about pushing the mask up tighy against your face . Scott the assistant Manager constantly patrols the floor even when its slow and there's only a few people in the gym. He insists you "comply" this short bald dork has no common sense. They do allow clear open plastic face shields that do not fit snug to the face even the placards on the doors say masks must be worn. Tried reaching the owner TannerHalton who apparently is too busy. He can however be reached on social media. This facility also has been charging my bank account for monthly dues even though the gym was closed for covid. No response from managment or the owner. The next step is the better business bureau and city / state licensing. I want a refund. This facility is poorly run and unethical. Don't waste your time. read more

To Helen b - your review is quite offensive to older people, retirees, and sounds like you are oh so very privileged & full of yourself (why is your pass suppose to be "elegant"? odd choice of a word). Your comments about a 60 year old woman having too much time on her hands-REALLY! You are so rude - and guess what you too will be 60 one day. Yes-I am over 60. I found the club to be a nice mixture of ages, sizes & shapes-no grunting or intimidation-very nice! If you want intimidation there are lots of clubs you can join. This gym isn't really for people who want to lift weights or get strong. It has around 100 cardio machines but a pretty limited weight machine set up. A lot of the same machine without much variation, for example they have three chest press machines but no incline or decline. No bench racks no squat racks just smith machines. They also have some very aggressive anti body building signs. Very aggressive. I'm not a body builder but I want a gym that I can lift hard at and get stronger without feeling like I'm offending the small army of cardio enthusiasts. Its not a gym I'll be going back to. This is a new gym here in Bend that you can use for $10/month. It is a national chain and this is the newest/biggest PF facility in Oregon. It is located in the old Erickson Thrift way building. The Good: Inexpensive, brand new, clean, tons of cardio machines, plenty of cable/weight stations and machines, a large ab/leg/stretching area, a 30 minute circuit area, plenty of lockers and showers. And if you are into it and want to pay a little extra per month (I am not..) tanning and massage chairs. The Bad: no free weights, no free weight benches, squat racks etc. If you read out of town reviews this seems to upset a lot of people. Also the dumbbells (of which there is a solid selection) top out at 75 lbs (this also seems to be upset so folks). Parking: It gets tight at peak hours but honestly I have always found a spot. The 'Odd': They have built their reputation/business model on being a "judgement free" gym and not being a place for "Meatheads". Maybe not the best choice of words on my part but they go to great lengths to discourage what they call "lunkheads". There is even a lunkhead alarm in the 'free weight' area and some signage as to what a lunkhead is (basically a loud intimidating powerlifting nut with a bandanna and a one gallon water jug. No joke there is actually a graphic spelling this out). This all seems to be a bit much in my opinion but at this point I hardly even notice them. They are really big on this being a gym for anyone especially those with less experience. I cannot fault them for this. Snacks: They have Tootsie rolls at the counter, pizza once month and bagels/coffee once a month. Again, not my thing, odd for a gym but people love it so good for them. Bottom line: It is a very nice facility, I use it 5-6 days a week. If you go at off hours there is hardly anyone there. I have been going to the gym on a regular basis for a long time and it suits my needs and then some. For $10 a month I cannot imagine why anyone would complain. I'm a wildland firefighter and was in town for the summer so decided to get a membership, ended up leaving before I could go in a cancel and now I'm back in Sacramento California, this place I tell you has me stuck with this subscription, I have sent multiple letters to this place asking to cancel my membership, nothing, I have called everyday for a week now asking for the general manager and every time I call they give me the same answer, " he's not in today he should be here tomorrow". Given the situation I'm in being 9 hours away and have sent letters to cancel, they keep beating around the bush to help me with my situation. Don't go here. read more
