It's very quiet here today. It's Super Bowl Sunday and I'm glad because there's lots of clear space for me to work out. It's very clean and last week it smelled real bad. They have an air freshener at the door when you come in but once I got inside it wasn't good at all. So today is better. read more

The manager Raquel is never around when you need her. I see her walking through the gym always on FaceTime acting ratchet!! Someone broke into my locker and she looked at me and said "what do you want me to do about it." I don't recommend this gym to nobody! This pf is so filthy. It always smells like feet, armpits and hot breath. I understand its a gym and people sweat but not even a little bit of fabreeze ? The air doesn't seem to work at times and you end up feeling like you're going to pass out w all of that mustiness. Not only that but theres times when there is no spray/tissue to wipe down the equipment. Its just not sanitary. The toilets are not cleaned properly. When you squat down you can see all the build up of guck on the edges. To top it off the staff is so rude. DO NOT COME HERE !!! read more

They have stopped spraying as they use too before to ensure if anything airborne it's eliminated immediately, the cleanliness is very poor at times I ask myself am I in the Projects or is this a business of establishment. The male lockers rooms, bathroom, dressing room will look horrible for days and the employees will walk right past it like nothing is wrong or they simply don't want to do the simple requirements from their job. Some staff are friendly and some have an attitude which apparently they forget to be grateful they still have work and their health while others are still suffering. And the best of all is being told to properly wear your mask when some staff are not following what they are implementing. I honestly can't tell the difference if I'm working out in the Projects or an actual business, frankly I don't understand why their aren't weekly inspections overall. read more

So il admit my mistake, I didn't know how to use the machine but yes the staff was also confused It was a misunderstanding, the manager is amazing she was polite and showed me how to use the machine. This place is clean , has all the equipment and is big. People who frequent here are not well mannered and don't know gym etiquettes but thats not the fault of the staff or franchise. The one in lower east side manhattan was small yet people were well mannered. One hack is if someone is trying to claim another machine like putting their bag so when they done using the machine they are using they can use that simply let the staff know and they will help you. No point of arguing etc. read more

1. There are not enough cleaning supplies around the facility. At first I wondered why so many people brought their own wiping materials, but now I know. 2. SO many freaking mosquitoes. It's like they are breeding them for the buffet in there. I spend half of my workout swatting at mosquitoes and I'd like that not to be the case. 3. Staff doesn't seem to enforce anything. read more

Planet Fitness is well, just that. I don't expect luxury when I go to any PF but this location is significantly better than others I have frequented (mostly the Union Square location which is a HOT mess). There are only two squat racks at this location and they are usually occupied which tends to annoy me BUT there are three floors at this location and the treadmills/cardio machines are plentiful on the second floor. The locker room is always SUPER clean and the third floor is my personal workout sanctuary offering great floor space to do your own workouts/stretch. Of course there are creeps, hell even some women are creepy. In fact, there was a woman in the women's locker room with a Hennessy bottle.. and I do believe she was sipping it and just being outrageous. So, yes, this place can be full of characters but overall the staff is helpful and there is ample clean space to workout! read more

It hurts me to give this gym 3 stars because I actually love this location. The staff is friendly, the gym for the most part is clean but I truly hate the inconsiderate corny people that go here. I've been a member here since September 2015. I go consistently between the hours of 11am-6pm and this gym is always packed by the free weights throughout those times. What really upsets me is that the weight rack is completely cleaned out every single day because certain people hog about 4 different pair of Dumbbells at the same time. This is ridiculous !!!! On top of that they don't even put the weights back. The treadmill area for different cardio machines is pretty huge and no matter the time of day you will always find a machine available. It sucks that a lot of inconsiderate people that attend this gym ruin what is actually a very good location. By the way if you even think about catching a free bench to squat or bench press--- forget it ! This has forced me to attend the 3rd avenue location, which is surprisingly really empty at those hours. read more

Despite a few nasty customers who don't clean up after themselves, this gym is pretty well kept. The front staff is always friendly and the place doesn't smell like a butt. However, I have never been here when it wasn't jam packed. Morning, noon or night, always packed. Probably because it's literally the only gym in the area, but still, it's crazy. You'll be able to get a cardio machine, but if you're planning on lifting weights, forget it. Good luck. Each machine has a group of guys patting each other on the back and bro fisting, that hog the machines for at least an hour at a time, easily. I walked in at 7AM, the bench press Smith machine was being used and I called next, by 7:45, the guy was still using it, came back at 8, still, so I had to leave without completing my workout. I guess he was training for the Olympics. The other 2 machines like this were occupied by groups. There should be some type of queue or appointment system for using the weight machines, particularly the bench press/Smith machine, that way everyone can get a fair chance to work out. Otherwise, the place is great, there's at least 2 of every type of machine for you to use, when you're lucky enough to be able to anyway. read more

I'm really impressed with how clean this place is, as well as the ease of using the equipment. I started with a $10/month, no commitment membership to make sure that this is what I wanted. The woman at the front desk was very understanding about this and not pushy at all. After 2 months, I told them that I was ready to upgrade my membership, and they processed this upgrade quickly and efficiently. Definitely a no frills gym, but it's wonderful for what it is. read more

I need the staff to enforce the face mask on rule because it's unsafe especially in covid time and very unsafe

Most of the men hog the weights and bottom part of the floor. Someone needs to fix that issue.

I have been a member of this location for years. While this location is most convenient for me to come to, over the past few months the quality of the gym has significantly declined. The machines seem to be well taken care of but the gym itself is poorly cleaned and over the past 6 months it has been having a horrid smell of dead rat throughout the gym that makes it unbearable to breathe. At times the smell makes me gag and I find it so difficult to complete a session. It's literally nauseating and it was extremely embarrassing when I brought a guest with me to this location. Spoke to the manager multiple times regarding the situation and it still hasn't been resolved. The staff walks around with air fresheners and are sometimes spraying it but it doesn't help whatsoever. I often see the mop sitting in black dirty water and they use the same dirty water to keep cleaning the gym. Not sure if the smell is from not using fresh clean products such as a clean mop or clean water, (which is concerning for a place that should be extremely cautious on their cleanliness since there's so many germs and bacteria around the gym) or an actual infestation in the gym that's not being investigated. I've called corporate to make a complaint and have not heard back. A lot of people use to come to the gym no longer come to this location because of the issues that aren't being fixed. It's really discouraging and I haven't been going to the gym lately due to these issues which I'm not too happy about. I'm considering canceling my entire membership and taking my business somewhere else. read more

If you're looking for a good work out this is not the place. The concept of this gym is great but the regulars that go to this gym in packs will take over any good weight benches, weights, and machines. Planet fitness will not give these groups time limits so you can get your reps in so you are just SOL if you have a work out plan. The staff somewhat friendly but for the area don't expect anyone to go above and beyond and I'm born and raised in this area so it's expected but after going to gyms in nicer parts of the country it's just a complete let down. Even the one in New Rochelle is a lot nicer and friendlier place. So ladies beware for the men here are relentless and I have to be a hawk in protecting my fiancé from creeps. read more

This location is a bit small but I like going at night because its not crowded at all and it's pretty quiet. It's close to 2 train stations (Simpson 2&5 train or Hunts Point 6 train). The staff is really friendly. The locker rooms at this location do not have the long slim ones so don't bring too much stuff with you. read more

Creepy, I avoid the place and cancelled my membership because I felt so embarrassed by some group of men straight looking at my rear and making unpleasing comments. I think lots of men are just exposed to male environments so when women creep in they find it confusing and don't know how to act. read more

A Planet Fitness is a Planet Fitness wherever you go, but this one gets five stars for the excellent customer service and cleanliness. There seem to only be two of the push-up bar setups, but this Planet Fitness does have an aqua massager along with the upgraded massage chairs. read more

Compared to the planet fitness on castle hill I prefer this one. It's bigger, clean, staff is friendly. It's not hot and stinky. Lord knows I hate working out, but the environment is comfortable and keeps me coming back. It also convenient, I stop by on my way home from work when I get off of the train. read more

I love working out here! Especially in the morning with Ms. Ruthie. She's the personal trainer there and she is definitely the truth. She's patient, understanding, she will work you hard but you'll love the results. Especially her biggest loser class. When I first got to planet fitness I didn't know what to do but the staff there show you the machines, how to use them correctly and the facilities are always clean. This gym is only good for the price. Although it has a lot of treadmills, elliptical machines and weight machines, this particular location is smaller than others. I must say, it seems like there are so many weight machines because you see a lot when you walk in. But don't be fooled, there are 2-3 machines of the same workout machine. It's good because you don't have to wait for someone to be done to use a machine. But it's bad because there isn't much of a variety. Also, I expected to see other workout equipment like a medicine ball, kettle-bells, and other freestanding equipment but that is not the case. It would also be nice to have some kind of studio space to do workouts that don't require machines. The top level has additional treadmill machines and that space would be more useful if it was studio space. The locker rooms are smaller and were freezing! I'd only recommend this gym for a quick workout, nothing major. read more
