Most of the men hog the weights and bottom part of the floor. Someone needs to fix that issue.

Interesting gym, and depending on who you are, what you're looking for, what your goals are and…read morewhat "needs" you want met, then you're either going to love or hate this place. You're either going to either feel out of place, intimidated, overwhelmed or embrace its grittiness and appreciate the atmosphere. Daro's Extreme Fitness isn't a gym for everyone. It's gritty, it's ugly, its no frills its more for people who just want to get in there, do their work and then get the heck out. Basically, it's a gym for the "hardcore". For the people who want to work out then scram. For the bodybuilders, for the athletes, for the ones who can embrace hard work in an ugly environment. Personally, I don't have a problem with this but if you're someone who needs tanning, towel service, flat screen t.v.'s, Zumba classes, who needs to be accommodated with more "finer things", then this isn't the place for you. Equipment: This place has all the bare essential needs for your weight lifting pump. The machines are great, work well and there's several types of machines for every part of your body. Some of the dumbbells might look rusty and old but they serve their purpose as much as any brand new dumbbells, and personally, I like thay they look like that. In addition to the machines and weights, there's a little fitness bar/jungle gym in the middle of this place for all your body weight exercises. There's a boxing bag and kick boxing bag, and towards the back, there's a pro-wrestling gym. Yes, pro -wrestlers get trained here. Of course there's treadmills, bikes, and all the good stuff for your cardio needs. Facility: Okay, this place is ugly like I mentioned before. There's nothing pretty about this place at all. Its dark, dim, industrial and grimy looking. It looks like they are trying to fix the place up more or they were trying but just put down all the home improvement tools and finished halfway. Its medium sized, so you won't feel cramped and the place doesn't seem to ever get too packed even during the busiest of hours. The locker room is spacious enough to change but my gripe is the bathroom. Like I said, I don't mind the grittiness but the bathroom is ridiculous. Its very small, very cramped and looks all shoddy. The toilet and sink work but the shower has no curtain....So yeah, I don't know how to go about that. The bathroom is good just for one person, its VERY, VERY small. I don't got to the gym for the music but like almost any gym these days, get prepared to hear top 40 crap and if a lot of Dominicans are in the house, they'll pump up some of that crappy bachata-merengue mixes. This is not important to me for I block out the music but if it is to you, bring your headphones, MP3 and own music. There's also a small lounge area if you're waiting for someone, with a pool table. Staff/People: This is one of the things I really enjoyed about the gym. The people who worked here were super nice and made me feel like I was apart of a great group of friends and answered all the questions I asked with no problem. They definitely try to make you feel welcomed and comfortable, so that means a lot to me. And the people who come to this gym seem cool. Yeah, its a "real gym" but no one really tries to be the king of the hill. No ego's here. Pricing: I was able to get information on membership cost before I get to that, if you just want to come in for a day and workout, its 5 dollars, NOT BAD! And if you want to do some pro wrestling training, its 10 dollars. Here's the membership fees (the numbers are the cost). 1 month=$35, 2 months=$60, 3 months=$90, 6 months=$120. There's 2 one year memberships but its goes like this, 1=$75 dollars BUT you have to pay a dollar every time you come to workout instead of 5 dollars a day for if you were to do a walk in. 1 year=249 dollars and covers everything. In essence, if you live in the Bronx and close to the area, and just want to workout somewhere that's not expensive, if you're the type of person that goes to a gym just to workout, then this is the place for you. If you want a tan, spa, towel service, oil body rubs, flat screen t.v. pristine, shiny sparkly place, classes and many more, then this place won't do you justice. Overall, its a good gym, good atmosphere and it can more than get the job done. NOTE: Until the Yelp team changes some of the business info, here is the actual address: 1123 Close Ave, Bronx, N.Y, 10472 And the nearest train to the location is the 6 train to Elder Ave and walk 2 blocks to Close ave or you can take the 2 or 5 train to Simpson street and walk straight down on Westchester till you get to Close Ave (about 5-10 minutes walk). Hours: Sun=7Am-4PM, M=7AM-12AM, T-F=7AM-12AM, S=7AM 6PM.

Took a weekday afternoon tour recently…read more The front desk lady welcomed me cordially. To which I then asked if it would be possible to tour the gym. Within moments a young gentleman came to assist. During the tour I witnessed clean areas, with what I'd say were diehard gym members maintaining their fitness goals by either pumping iron, running on the treadmills, stretching in the group fitness room or swimming laps in the lap pool. Quite motivating. The young gentleman who gave me the tour walked me up, down several stairs and throughout all accessible areas of the gym. He was thorough and answered all of my questions without being pushy. The Pool area looked really appealing and the Ladies Locker room looked neat and well kept. The one thing lacking for me was a squash/racquetball court. I know this is not a popular take for all, but I think indoor courts could have been considered in the plans as the Waters Place area is a sprawling piece of land which could've easily accommodated at least two courts in the build. Another plus in having indoor courts is the accessibility during the colder months. Also at this stage, a racquetball court could have been converted into at least one Pickleball Court...definitely a missed opportunity. In my opinion, Owners/Contractors fail to realize that Bronxites are avid racquet sports players too. Imagine getting a great indoor court workout, and then an option to take a few laps in the pool, conveniently located within your area instead of having to trek across the bridge to another LA Fitness that has this amenity. When joining a gym you'd want these conveniences factored in to encourage you to visit as often as possible. Unsure of their membership fees, but at a glance a nice looking gym. Outdoor parking was available during the time I visited. And an indoor garage is also available. 3.5 Stars

But even though the space is in the middle of a rebrand and with some areas under construction, the staff still manages to keep everything clean, organized, and safe. As someone who goes 3-4 times a week, I really appreciate how the workers check people in while staying friendly, and keep the vibe calm instead of chaotic while they have work being done inside the gym. I always get friendly smiles and am told, "hope you have a good workout," which is something small but really makes the experience great. Yes, equipment being covered up can be annoying, but the team makes up for it. If the people weren't so helpful and welcoming, the rebranding process would feel much harder. Overall, I'd recommend it, especially knowing it's only getting better. And it has 3 floors of equipment, which is way more space than a typical public gym. And even when it's technically crowded, it doesn't really feel like it due to it being such a big space.

I was working out And she was getting in the way of my workout dusting and cleaning up. I feel like there should be certain times that cleaning is done so that you're not triggering people's allergies or in the way of their workout
