Tremont Park is a medium-size green space in the middle of Tremont neighborhood in north-western…read moreBronx. It borders to the north with E Tremont Avenue, to the east with Arthur Avenue, to the south with E 175th Street, and to the west with Third Avenue. On the north-west corner there's an ornate staircase that climbs to some grassy fields. In 1995 the park was renovated, and several additions were made: chess/checkers tables, a baseball/softball field, spray showers, racquetball courts, and some new trees. The place is peaceful... I was here last weekend and there was barely anybody around. You would think that those amenities would attract locals, but it's just not happening. You can tell that, despite its huge potential, this park has been neglected by the city. The staircase is heavily damaged, the grass is a couple of feet high in some places, and there's a feeling of partial abandonment strolling it's paths. It's a pity, because it could look awesome. The close vicinity of this park with commercial and touristic Arthur Avenue could play a vital role in resuscitating its usage. However, the Italian Arthur Avenue is several blocks north, and a few minutes walk from here.

Children playing, and owners walking dogs. If you look close this time of year you will spot squirrels scampering about. Birds of many species are available to the avid bird watchers. There are paths to follow and rocks to climb. I carry my little map. You don't want to take a wrong turn and get lost in the park. While you're exploring visit the North Meadow. Or maybe not! I'll have the peace and quiet to myself. There's plenty of benches to sit on while I Day Dream.

Fun Fact- The Falls: A 77-foot-high waterfall on the Passaic River, second only to Niagara Falls in volume east of the Mississippi. The Great Falls of Paterson is even more impressive to see after a major rainstorm. The falls are more immense and you'll get spritzed. LOL... In the winter time, You can see the falls in a frozen state. An absolutely mesmerizing experience. Hope you enjoy the photos from all seasons.

Paterson, NJ - Paterson Great Falls is the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi River…read more(can you guess the first?), and although it is not as impressive as A-lister Niagara Falls, we are still quite lucky to be in close proximity to such a spectacle of nature! It powered America's first planned industrial city of Paterson, New Jersey, established by Alexander Hamilton in 1792 (before he became a Broadway star), which produced everything from textiles, to locomotives, paper rolls, firearms, and aircraft engines. The park is run by the National Park Service and is free to visit. You can wander around on your own, or join a free guided tour given by a park ranger, which I highly recommend. I was only aware of the falls from the observation deck of Haines Overlook Park and assumed that was the whole shebang. It was not. The ranger-led tour revealed other sections of the park with different vantage points, which I wouldn't have thought to explore. Our tour guide Emma S was very knowledgeable and gave a great presentation. As luck would have it, we went the day after heavy overnight rains, and the waterfall was in full glory. Emma told us this is the most water she's seen in her two years as a tour guide! A new pedestrian footbridge just opened in February 2026, allowing visitors to walk across the chasm for close-up views of the 77-foot waterfall at misting distance. Further expansions and more section openings are planned in the coming years, as well as a new visitor center. Finally: kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge - a program available at most of the 400+ national parks. My child received his first badge here, a handsome wooden pin. So that was very cool. Other nearby attractions include the Paterson Museum, Muth Museum, and the newly re-opened Lambert Castle, so you can make a full day of it.

People might get confused by the two names--Palisades Interstate Park and Fort Lee Historic Park--but it's the same location. Parking is metered, and the rates vary by day. On weekends, it's around $2.50/hour. We spent almost 2 hours here, and it was totally worth it. The park is very clean and well maintained. There are several viewpoints where you can enjoy beautiful views of the George Washington Bridge and the Hudson River. There are also a few historical displays that tell the story of the area, which makes the visit even more interesting. There are plenty of benches to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery. It was peaceful and not too crowded when we visited. On the other side of the park, you'll find old cannons, restored military buildings, and other historic structures from the Revolutionary War period. The views from that side are just as amazing. Overall, it's a great place to spend a couple of hours if you're visiting the Palisades.

The "driveway" is basically a wide paved road so you can also bring a stroller. In terms of scenery -- we went in early November and most of the leaves were dead, but there were some fall leaves around the lake. Taking off a star because the trails were not well-marked. If you want a quiet walk with less scenery but also less foot traffic, choose the Montgomery Pinetum. However, I preferred Greenwich Point Park over the Pinetum since it has better views in November and there were more people.

It features the notable "Invisible Man" sculpture, inspired by one of his writings. Running from 149th Street to 151st Street, it is a favorite place of respite for residents in the nearby apartment buildings. Dogs are common, and visitors often sit on its benches very late to enjoy their food and drinks. It is watered late at night with automatic sprinklers during the summer months, and maintained by the Riverside Park Fund.
