Super early weekday morning and this Planet Fitness was nearly empty. Perfect. I had no problem at check-in or finding a locker to store my stuff. A few minutes of stretching and then the 30 minute circuit went well. All of the equipment was working and no one else in this area so no sharing! So excited to write this review! They have improved the gym! I honestly used to consider this my main PF gym location, but left for about a year due to the machines being so worn and old treadmill belts, bikes, etc. Well...THEY HAVE updated and improved EXCERCISE EQUIPMENT!!!! Bikes and treadmills are fixed and in good condition now. Yayyy!!! It's so beautiful and new inside ! They also moved the equipment in a way that is more natural and less cluttered. I love the staff and management they are so friendly. I'm so pumped to work out here now again . Here I come 2026! It's also so spacious, clean, and parking is easy. read more

Not my favorite planet fitness that I've ever been to.... But it looks like maybe they are in the midst of renovations? We stopped here while visiting family and needed a workout. It's one of the smaller ones we've been to for sure. It seemed a little disheveled and like I said, perhaps in the midst of renovations ... but the locker rooms were the issue. My husband said the men's was filthy - to the point that he wouldn't use the bathroom there. The women's was clean, but the shower was COLD. If I could have, I would have skipped it all together. I come to this PF five nights a week. I am single at 3 o'clock in the morning. There is something disgusting, dirty or not done here. The paper towels are always empty, FOR THE LAST THREE NIGHTS THE FILTER IS RED FOR WATER. The filter is never changed. This is the only PF ran like this. Even Portsmouth is ran more efficiently. Only concern is that for last couple weeks, TV's were replaced, and for over two weeks only sound on 2 tv's and nobody knows when there being repaired, plus several areas around are covered preparing walls i guess. The only side eye about this place... I was in the building late Saturday night and a few stations were empty - no paper towels to clean off the equipment. Other than that, this place is legit! It gave what it gave and I was pleased...the business! I needed to use my time wisely last Saturday night, so I headed to Club PF for about three hours possibly longer. From 730pm to 11pm, the facility was not packed at all. I was able to use all the equipment needed without having to wait my turn. I loved it!!! The ladies locker room was spotless and roomy. From what I could see, the water stations and machines were all functioning. No complaints just the concern about about the paper towels mentioned above. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this location. Parking - plentiful. And after your workout ,there are places nearby to choose to dine or go shopping. Check them out! Perfect for me and my wife to stay fit and active over 65! We use PF 3-5 times a week and really enjoy the abundance of cardio and weights available. The place is friendly, clean and at 10 dollars a month is much cheaper and better than a more expensive gym membership we had in the past. read more

An absolutely filthy place. I've have been to a million gym but never have i seen so much grime and dirt build up in the bathroom. Then when confronting the after jumping through hoops to speak to a manager who was not at the facility. The police were threatened to be called on me by McKinsey as i was speaking to Ray over the phone. Then he just started repeating after her. Its almost 2021 I hope we are not still treating black people like this...... Stay safe people covid is not the only thing to be afraid of. read more

I mean how can you beat $10 a month on a gym membership!? Such a great deal and with the array of exercise machines you will definitely get a good work out. This location is pretty big with plenty of treadmills and ellipticals that you would not be waiting for any of it. But I am disappointed there's a couple of machines I use every time I go to the Norfolk location missing from this Chesapeake location. Bummer! The staff is great and one thing about Planet Fitness is they are constantly cleaning the machines and keeping the place tidy up. read more

Was my gym for a year before covid. It's nice and big and clean. Every time my husband and I went we always saw employees wiping down the equipment. And always the treadmills they did great detail clean on those we would see the belts being lifted and cleaned. The coaches were good at what they do we would always see them helping people. It's definitely a gym that gets busy so you should avoid peak hours. But we would go at 5am and you would see like 5 people. And of corse you can't beat the price. read more

Not much to expect from PF but at least the machines should work. Half the time the paper towel dispensers are empty despite a staff of about 5 at the front desk, you often have to switch from machine to machine because the clock stops working randomly and they only have about 5 workout mats here so stretching can be a pain. The only consistent item they keep in stock are the candies at the from desk. Most importantly there is a lack of diverse shows on the tv stations. Would not recommend if there are other options around. read more

Ahh that new gym smell! The first Planet Fitness in Chesapeake has opened earlier than expected. Located in Greenbrier Square across from Kroger with over 24,000 square feet, this one looks to be the most spacious of them all but with more of a bright, upgraded look. They have everything just the same as the other gyms: abs and stretch area, 30 minute workout room, free weights, a variety of weight and cardio machines, Smith machine racks, and for the Black Card members, the Black Card spa! There's also a fitness trainer on site to help meet your fitness goals. My first visit here was just as I expected to be, busy with it being only the second day of it being open. Finding a squat rack is always a challenge most days and with only 4 of them here (Holland has 6) I still managed to grab one. Overall, love the layout, staff seemed very helpful to all of their members- new and old and I'll definitely be returning as a regular here! read more

Earlier this week upon arrival at the Chesapeake Planet Fitness off Battlefield, a young man sleeping or passed out in a car was parked in handicap zone at 9:30 a.m, trash around it. Today he parked in a different spot. After voicing my concern to management, was told that they are aware of this and that corporate policy says anyone is welcome to live in their parking lot as long as he or she buys a membership which this particular person did, so what's the issue? Anyone see where this policy is leading? Canceled my membership. Needless to say, they weren't concerned about losing my business. read more

I'm a regular at this Planet Fitness. The convenient location - close to Kroger, not too far from home - was too much to pass up. The husband and I eagerly dropped our overpriced YMCA memberships and zipped over to Planet Fitness to sign up. We've been members since probably the 3rd week this location was open, and I attend daily to get my workouts in. The staff is usually kind, very attentive, and usually keep the towel dispensers full (usually). The shiny equipment has already started to break down a bit, so there are a few machines that will be down for a day or two while they are fixed, but usually isn't a problem as long as there is a second one to replace it. I appreciate that I see people of ALL SIZES at the gym. All fitness levels. You still see Joe Steroids every once and a while, and Suzy Skintight, but you also see people of all ages, all sizes, working to improve themselves. Negatives: 1) when we originally signed up, we booked appointments with personal trainers. These appointments were cancelled with ZERO notification as to why, we were not called and informed, nor were we offered to reschedule. 2) I'm mostly salty because the abductor machine was down for 4 days, but that's more me than anything. 3) Staff has keys to the wall lockers, and will unlock and open any of them for folks who forget their key codes that they put in, or if they forget which locker they picked. There is 0 identity confirmation done for ownership, so definitely don't put anything in the lockers that you wouldn't be okay losing to a random Joe who might claim it belongs to him. In the last couple of weeks, I've had mine opened by staff members 3x for patrons who forgot. Luckily I usually just tuck a hoodie in it, so I'm not stressed, but do be aware! Tips: 1) There is candy at the front desk and monthly pizza nights. This isn't a negative or a positive, as keeping the people chunky keeps them coming back, but if you're triggered easily by food addiction, be warned 2) the black card is worth it! Good tanning beds, massage chairs, etc. the ability to use any PF gym is nice, too. 3) Sunday nights are BUSY. Most towel dispensers run out of towels and staff doesn't catch it til after the fact. This causes most folks just to skip wiping things down, so you might be sitting in somebody else's nasty if you don't clean it before you work out and wait for it to dry. 4) It isn't as busy as it used to be, but most evenings from 5:30-8:30 are usually pretty busy and leave a near-full parking lot. If you prefer to work out without people invading your bubble, go sooner or later. All in all, I'm satisfied and will continue to return. Not every place is perfect, but neither am I. read more

I believe this is one of the newer PF in the Hampton Roads & you can definitely tell by the equipment. Easy check in with your app & you're always greeted by the staff. The womens locker rooms are always clean when I come in. The staff is consistently filling up the cleaning stations with cleaner & paper towels. There are plenty of TVs for you to watch while you're doing your cardio. I've been going here for about a year on & off & it's definitely one of my favorite PF in the area. You can't beat $10 a month for a gym! Highly recommend if you're on a budget. read more

I'm glad to be back at Planet Fitness. Previously I was at the Military Hwy Location. Left for a while and now I'm back because of the new facility being close to me. Signed up for a Black Card Membership this time because I travel alot. Although they seem like nice employees, I don't think they are well trained on doing new member sign ups here. I basically got a key chain and was told to sign here and here on the signature. I would have appreciated a tour of the facility considering I've never been there before. Does PF still do welcome packs? I guess when i go back I will roam around and figure out where everything is for myself. read more

We were told to send in a letter for cancellation. We sent the letter December 13th and followed up on December 29th only to be told that they did not receive the letter somehow. This is obviously untrue and linked to incompetence or disorganization. We are located in the same city and the letter should have been received within two days at the latest. They have made cancellation a complete hassle and when we rejoin a gym it will not be with Planet Fitness. We will be sure to let anyone else know about this ordeal as well. I was visiting for the weekend and came here a couple times. I am an LA Fitness member but this PF made me consider switching over - really friendly and welcoming staff, the building is spacious, the machines are well taken care of and plentiful, and the bathrooms are super clean. To be honest I really thought that I wouldn't be able to get a full body workout because I know it didn't have a lot of free weights and it only dealt with weight machines but after going in there for the first time I see I can still get my full workout and I like that especially it being cheap for the membership it's very clean the Personnel are very nice and friendly and willing to help read more

I love everything about this gym - it's clean; there's a wide variety of equipment; the staff is friendly; and it's always open so it's convenient anytime I need to go or want to go. Since my home club is in another state I'm using this club whenever I visit. It's great to feel welcome and get the most out of my membership especially not having to miss a work out. read more

They did their best to take my money. took advantage of covid. specially in military. i just started my membership in March since i am in the service we are restricted to go in public gym. they probably figured it out that we cant go so and cancel later they already charged me for annual fee already not even a year. i finally decided to cancel my membership today they said i have to pay that too till October. not ever going back to that place ever again! i regreted for trying. definitely Not reccommended for military. specially pandemic still going on read more

Portsmouth facility on Victory Blvd. has a couple more abdominal machines that this new facility does NOT. Additionally, this facility does not have the water massage beds, only the massage chairs. Also, contacted the regional manager David H. because the facility manager cannot authorize changing television channels??? To ask that he add MSNBC to their T.V. viewing since they had fox and was pretty much dismissed out of had. Really?? They also need to keep up with the simple things, (paper towels and sanitizer filled, to wipe down equipment). read more
