I love how close this gym is to me. I don't go for anything other than working out. When will it reopen? How long will the renovations be?

I had an absolutely terrible experience at the Belmont and Pulaski Planet Fitness. I am a current member and I was turned away from this facility because I have a Classic Membership and I am not allowed to work out at this location without paying an additional fee. I have worked out at other Planet Fitness facilities without any issue. The associate Ben was rude, unprofessional, and acted like he worked as a bouncer at a nightclub. The manager Destiny also was rude, and has no people skills or customer service skills whatsoever. I work in customer service and management and I could not believe how awful their attitudes are. You hired the wrong people to work with the general public and for your valued, paying current members. I was shocked by how terrible your staff is and I think your members deserve better. I will be most likely canceling. read more

This gym has great potential I really like it because it's also my local gym not to long ago A lady with curly hair colored eyebrows she's small at least 5'6 Was very rude made us go back home we didn't have an issue but definitely she did and im writing this to let people know so it isn't just me but I wear yeezy most comfortable shoes in world great for workouts well the manager has an issue with him but not with people wearing dress shoes or boots and the location of the gym is mostly hispanic so i can assure you,you will see people wearing the wrong things and it been like that for awhile not an issue to me but if planet fitness has an issue they want to address with me about shoes it's OK but I'm hoping that everybody is getting that issue resolved and it's not just me because that's how it's been with the lady in the front. She's been rude and kicked us out because of the shoes that i've worn and yesterday night March march 4 I went to work out with my dad and my brother and we went to work out on legs and we went to the leg press machine and somehow the screw went flying and hit my brother's leg not an issue for me I told him I don't know what they did, but the machine wasn't working not only that machines has been not working but other ones around it are also not OK. I had fallen from one two days prior and the seat fell down i know the gym has great potential Just the leaders that run it isn't okay the workers there quite literally have to do everything. I really like this Planet Fitness. I think it's well equipped, the membership rate is great ( Black card member), and the staff has always been kind and friendly when I go there. It can get crowded at certain times but that's why I like the 24 hour feature which allows me to go at less popular times. Currently the gym is a bit compromised due to the construction and renovations. I'm really hoping my patience pays off when it's all done and everything is refurbished and back in place. In addition to everything else, the vibe here is pretty good. I've never felt out of place. read more

I finally began using my gym membership here pretty regularly a few months ago (after hardly going for years) . Pros include: incredibly friendly staff, usually a good vibe from other members, lots of access to cardio equipment. Gym is also kept pretty clean. Weight training is easier to do when it's less crowded (not on weeknights). The machines were somewhat easy to figure out, doing a few YouTube tutorials helped me out. Cons: no kettlebells or free weights/barbells. Gets super crowded on weeknights which can make strength training unpleasant and hard to get to a machine you like. That being said price is hard to beat, and atmosphere is generally pretty kind and encouraging. read more

I was aware of the renovations and possibly limited equipment but not having a water station to refill your water bottle is ridiculous.

This is the most despicable excuse of a gym absolutely horrendous. I don't mind the construction I totally understand buildings need renovations but that shouldn't excuse the lack of cleaning or proper maintenance of machines I wanted to use the stair mater only two out of the 6 machines worked and the one I used had disgusting gum stuck to it the machines are covered in salt as well as the floor I'm absolutely appalled at the state of this location. read more

I currently workout 5-6 times a week and I been to many gyms and I'm being honest when I say that this gym you can't even have a good workout. Gym equipment is missing and I don't know if this gym is close to a middle school and high school cause there's too many people for such a little gym. Do you like working out in a construction zone? This is the gym for you! Been under construction for 3 weeks, all equipment crammed into half the room with makeshift garbage bag walls. Dry wall and construction dust floating in the air. All for your normal full-price membership. PF also floods the gym with teenagers every summer with free student passes and does nothing to train staff to monitor these kids who treat it like a playground and break equipment. Groups of 5-6 of them crowding around one machine. Management is apathetic to feedback because that's the PF way, collect that monthly fee regardless of quality. Don't fall for the cheap rate, it's not worth it. read more

There always seems to be equipment out of service and now the roof is leaking. It's hard to find an available power rack weightlifting station. The plus is that the gym is a good value and there are plenty of treadmills available. read more

I really enjoy going to this Planet Fitness. It is very large and in all the equipment is spaced out really good. I also enjoy the fact that they have the total body machine. This is one of the reasons why I join planet fitness, I like the blue light filter. This planet fitness has more weight lifting equipment than the planet fitness on California in Logan square.The parking lot is also bigger than the one off of California. However, I do think they might have more breakings in the parking lot so be careful. I think the crowd at this planet fitness is slightly older and precautions are being taken more seriously in regards to wearing your mask. I like this planet fitness and I try to get here at least one time per week the commute is a little bit further in regards to getting back during traffic hours but I need to hit that total body machine at least once a week. read more

I come to this location frequently and it's really unfortunate that the closest planet fitness to me happens to be the worst one. Over ten cardio machine out of service every time I come. And the machines are super outdated why is it that Lincoln wood has top of the line stair masters but this location can barley keep four functioning at a time. Does this company have no standards? What do we have to do to get working treadmills and working stair masters? This gym gets very busy at times and with summer here and all the kids coming in the gym is in desperate need of an upgrade. The usual plant fitness. Clean, some trainer led classes, a bunch of cardio machines, weight machines, 4 smith machines, dumbbells, showers, lockers, updated massage chairs, and the infamous lunk alarm. No squat racks or free barbells (beside the pre-set ones) to use but if you're creative you can make do with what they have available. It gets very busy in the evening during weekdays. So I recommend going early or late, past 8. They are open 24 hours 5 days a week, Monday-Friday, but on the weekend they close the evening. Staff and people are laid back. No pools, no smoothie bar, but some bottled drinks available at the front. My local dojo. read more

If you take a look at the outside of this place it is clear the lot is not maintained to high standards. It collects trash and it just keeps piling up making this place and the neighborhood look more of a dump. The exterior sets the expectation on what customers will have going here and it is clear that management and employees don't care too much. I seriously don't know how this place is in business. Planet fitness needs to do a better job setting standards for their stores or audit it more often. Please do your part in your community and keep this place clean! read more

1. It's a gym that doesn't have a station to fill up your water bottles. You're only option is two crappy drinking fountains that are equivalent to what you'd find at a crappy public pool. Also, last three times I went to use them, they weren't even working. 2. If you use treadmills, rethink this place. It's frequent you have to bounce from treadmill to treadmill due to them randomly shutting off. Also, a bunch of them are not stable - have you ever went to a restaurant and got sat at a wobbly table? Well Imagine trying to run on one. This is one of the more shocking ones because it's an unbelievably a stupid safety hazard to have machines that are unstable. I started a slow walk warm up on one and the machine was shaking back and forth so much that my water bottle fell out of the cup holder. 3. The sanitary wipe down stations frequently are out of rolls of paper and the station bottles themselves. Also, if you use the bathrooms, check there's actually toilet paper in there first because that's just a norm here. 4. Machines are unbelievably out of date. If this gym was a cellphone, it'd be a blackberry. 5. Just don't use the showers. 6. This 24 hour gym is open 24 hours...four days a week. ONLY PLUS - the staff. read more

Don't come here, my car got broken into along with a few other people. The parking lot is not lit up and they don't have cameras. Planet Fitness does nothing about this and the employee even acknowledged this happens frequently and this location and the Logan square location. If this happens frequently customers should be told when walking in, not after their windows get broken. If this happens frequently, Planet Fitness should install cameras or hire security. Like WTF, who's going want to come back here once their car is broken into? Update: they replied below, what a shitty excuse. I don't care if you don't own the parking lot or not and it does not matter if you own the parking lot or not, this is complete disregard for your customers safety. In terms of basic necessities, it works. In terms of comparing your experience with sister branch in downtown area? Fails in comparison. The workers, particularly females, at this location seem less enthused to help you out. One time I asked about a payment discrepancy, and the associate didn't understand what was happening, nor cared to figure out. Instead spewed out general info. The male associate the next day gladly figured it out for me and fixed issue. This is a bigger location and I believe the only location that has haircuts available - included in black card membership. They also have more workout systems (kettle bell, row machine, etc.) available at this location. Unfortunately though, their treadmills are diff from other locations in where you can't toggle speeds via the hand bar. So if you're running at 10 mph, you have to continually press (doesn't work holding down) your screen until you hit 0. Pretty clean overall. read more

It serves its purpose as being a basic gym with its necessities, and yes the price is reasonable. However, this place can be a total shit show- Half of the people working out there just go to socialize with others while sitting on machines they are not even using! And if you wish to do the circuit exercises like its intended to... forget it! People clearly don't follow the signs. The staff is not attentive and don't seem to care about what the hell is going on around them. Plus side of this gym: lots of treadmill and elliptical machines, and a big parking lot. I like this location more than others in the city. I'm not sure if there are more machines, but there is more space so overall it feels bigger. I dislike how there is no water bottle station, but there are water fountains. The desk people always say hi and bye, no more no less. I don't mind. One thing, the WiFi absolutely sucks. There is no 'planet fitness sign in' like other PF locations. And even when it says I'm connected, it does not always work. Almost never I would say. I double and triple checked that it's not my phone! It really drives me crazy because I use a fitness running app on the treadmill and it won't stay active without the internet connection. Normally I would just turn off the WiFi, but the thick concrete walls cause me to basically have no signal. Ugh read more

I just joined PF Last week. Very impressed with how clean they keep the club. They have social distancing in place. I've had no problem (not feeling uncomfortable while lifting weights in front of men). The employees are super friendly and very helpful. No, this is not the fanciest gym in town, but it has everything you need! Super glad I joined! read more

I am pleased that I transferred to pf! It's a simple gym with the necessities. There's plenty of space which is a plus for me because I get claustrophobic. They provide you with everything you need not necessarily everything you want. They also have this lunk rule. You can't grunt loudly, drop weights, or judge others. No judgement at pf. No need to be intimidated. Pf provides different stations that you could work out in. There's the ab section, the 30 minute express, weight area, and stretching section. It's divided where you can find a specific machine for the desired body part you want to work on. You must get the black card! It's only 10 $ more and you get unlimited guest privileges, unlimited massages, unlimited tanning, and you could even get a free haircut! The only reason I would give them a four star rating is because they dont have all the machines that I use but they have a wide selection. If you want simple and cheap this is the place for you. They don't have a sauna or a gym. If you want all of that go somewhere else. read more

It was about 2 years ago when I signed up at the other location at Belmont and Laramie but moved to the suburbs. 2 years later, I moved back to Logan Square. The Logan Square location is always crowded and had very little smith machines compared to this location or the Laramie one. The best part of it all is that I'm able to actually work out on everything I want to. I sometimes have to wait a bit, that's expected but everyone here is so nice 9/10 times. I'd rather commute here than my actual home gym when I want to do more than cardio. It's an awesome place. The staff members have also been awesome! No complaints here. Much better than my last visit a few years ago. One suggestion would be a cleaner locker room but eh, overall, it's a good workout location. read more

I understand it's a very basic no-frills gym and for that it serves it's purpose......BUT there is just so much fuckery going on in this gym. People hanging out on machines socializing then getting semi-attitudes when you point out that you want to use them. Not all of them, but a lot of the staff is inattentive and sometimes I just see them hanging out talking about how cool they "think" they are and about wha flavor wings they should get from the Wing Stop up the street. This is the place to get busy while the staff snacks on wing stop at the front desk. I ain't even hatin' though. I like this place for the no critics and no gymtimidation and cause I'm only there to get busy myself and move on. Not socialize or sleep or nap on machines like some I've seen. Decent amenities with the black card like hydro massage and whatnot but loss of stars since there are no pools, saunas or courts. But again I understand what PF is and that's everything that Xsport isn't which is a night club. Staff can be very inattentive but most of them are kids. I'm all about customer service though. But for $20/mo I get busy then get gone. Stars could go up if some things were just tweaked. There just seems to be a lack of upkeep. And I'm gone. read more

February 20 4:55 PM I just called this location on Pulaski Avenue only to ask what are the hours of service Monday to Friday. The person on the phone *avoiding my question* asked me my name then asked me if I'm a member. Then without answering my question again recommended training to me and asked me if I had time to talk *again before answering my question*. I really don't appreciate the sales tactics when all I wanted to know was what time the gym is open Monday through Friday so I could sign up to be a member. This is how you lose potential customers. Watch out, extra charges, hidden fees, lies, no Help, and Worst Experience ever!!! I was a PF BLACK CARD MEMBER!... I can just imagine the way they will treat the regular memberships... pfff After a year with the Planet Fitness brand, we had to cancel our membership, and after many many visits to this location, because the people in staff at the front desk aren't capable to help a customer, I finally spoke to 'someone" who was able to look into my membership and said it was ok to Cancel and not get charged for a termination fee. I originally had called this location and a lady over the phone said I could cancel my membership on the 21st of the month of May, she confirmed the date, and well, I went over the next day, a guy on the front desk, said I had to pay a fee, so that I had to talk to a manager, went back another day, another GUY on a Saturday said again, I had to talk to a MANAGER, to return on Monday, Memorial Day, I asked, 'will anyone be here, a manager on a Holiday', he said yes... guess what??!! I went and of course... there was no manager there, and nobody could look into my account details to avoid being charged a fee to cancel... I finally was able to cancel my membership by the 29th!!!! Who was the person able to do it... a "manager", who knew at the time... it was somebody over the phone, well, that person said his name was GREGG, Gregg who? Who knows.... in a very condescending tone over the phone and very unprofessional tone too, asked "When 'you planning to come by" I let them know that same day, that I'll go over that day in the evening, he said he'll leave a memo left at the front desk in regards to this matter. When I went, the staff acted rude, just one of the things to mention, or didn't look at you in the face or looked at you in a challenging way... I was trying to cancel a membership, not take away their position or their pen, or insulting them, but that's how the Guy who cancelled my Membership acted... his signature on the Yellow Form is DH or PH you can't really tell, as well, as you can tell, it was done quickly and in a non caring way at the front desk... I FINALLY cancelled my membership, I asked the GUY at the desk if I had any other fees, he said no, he gave me my Cancellation form and said nothing due, no fees, no balance paid or due, AN EVEN ZERO DUE, nothing to pay! Two weeks later, I got a 39USD FEE!!! when I was told no FEES, NO action needed, nothing owed. NO MORE CHARGES!!! I have spoken to two other different people over the phone, Bryan, who said Michelle would call back, never called back, I called again, spoke to Michelle, she gave me the run around about this situation, stating because of the date, IT HAD TO BE CHARGED, no matter what, but didn't seem to understand that, I had been trying to cancel this on time, but due to incompetency on the staff, now I have to pay a fee for it?? at the end she said her hands were tied and couldn't' do anything...and said a Regional Manager Roger, or Roberts, would call me back, no answer or call back.... The staff here are the most unprofessional bunch I have ever had to deal with. They do not look you when speak to them, they roll their eyes when asked a question. Very poor customer service, indeed. and to this date, no call back!! NO Refund, No action!! Not sure if this is an attitude coming up from their training on customer service or something. I will definitely never go back to their membership, I sure will let FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO ALSO RUN THE WORD, TO STAY AWAY FROM PF, I rather Pay 16usd more a MONTH, receive a smile every-time I walk into the gym and if I need to cancel, no need to go through/receive bad attitude, being treated like we were in the ghetto, and have it done there and done, being specific of any fees. and HIDDEN FEES!!! I'm still to date, waiting for that refund or call back to confirm that refund. Nothing!! I would just say WARNING, WATCH OUT!!! Be wary about signing up with these scammers. If you try to cancel, they will make you jump through hoops and then when you complete those tasks they will find other hoops for you to jump through. I moved shortly after signing up, and called to ask them to cancel my account. Even though I lived right across the street, they asked me to send certified mail to cancel. One I did this, and I had already moved to a new neighborhood, I was told I had to come in and cancel by person. So I did. Which is when they decided to tell me I needed to send certified mail again. Which I did. Six months later, I am still being charged. I've been to the gym (zero) times, I've went in (once) to cancel. sent (two) certified messages via mail, and called (three) times where I was told a manager or supervisor was unavailable. I feel like I'm living some SNL skit. I won't go back to another PF or recommend them to anyone I know. read more

This review is based on my wife's experience and in her words. I've been coming to this gym for a year now. The staff here are the most unprofessional bunch I have ever had to deal with. They do not look you in the eye when you speak to them, as a matter of fact they always roll their eyes when asked a question. That attitude must trickle down from upper management/owners or something. Yes, I know it's only $10/mo! But that is how they see you, "You're only paying $10/mo therefore you don't deserve quality customer service nor cleanliness of any kind!" I had some questions about some promotions I received via email. The girl at the front desk looked at me like I was nuts and she said she had not heard anything about it. Every time I ask for a supervisor or manager they do not have one. I fell in the parking lot because it was icy and they had not salted. When I walked in I told the boy at the front desk to put some salt out there. He said he had just put some out there (eyes rolling). We went back and forth about the ice, finally I just told him that he was going to be responsible for the next person to fall and crack their skull open. About an hour later he approaches me and apologizes to me for his behavior. Next thing I see EVERY ONE of them is working, sweeping, organizing equipment, mopping, dusting. Well low and behold there was an owner/investor there or something and that's why he apologized. By the time I left the gym my entire knee was purple (thank goodness it didn't swell)! The mats are always dirty!! In part this is due to the members being stupid and stepping on the mats with their shoes on!! People don't realize what they may have stepped in on the way to the gym, like dog shit, piss, snot, and/or dirt. Now I have to stretch out on that!! GROSS. I asked the front desk girl to put a sign up saying keep shoes off the mats. Of course I got the typical eye roll, shoulder shrug and no supervisor available BS. There's always a toilette stall, soap dispenser and/or water fountain out of order. I keep telling myself, "I only pay $10/mo; these kids are obviously getting paid the minimum to run this place! I can't expect much more!!" So now, I walk very slowly through the parking lot on snowy days and avoid the little slope by the front doors (drivers trying to get by must hate me now). I soak the mats with their cleaning spray and wipe them down twice. I avoid the staff entirely and hope that I never need them again because they are useless. read more

First of all there is always a large amount of teenagers talking loudly and taking up all the machines here. When I signed up here, I opted for the black card just to get more perks and because I travel a lot so it's nice to go to the gym while away from Chicago. The main thing I wanted perk-wise was the haircuts. The barber here is rude, untimely, and downright lazy. I have gotten my hair cut by her multiple times and EVERY TIME she is 15-30 mins late because she is outside smoking or on the phone or doing g-d knows what. Then she asks me what I want, corrects me, and refuses to be friendly whatsoever while cutting hair. I don't mean to be too petty, but it's frustrating. I asked her for a temple fade and she refused, saying it was "too difficult" and suggested I go for a regular fade (which is cutting off MORE HAIR so more work) I don't know it just sucks. Furthermore the locker rooms are kept at sweltering temperatures and workout area is freezing cold. read more
