This isn't my regular Planet Fitness and I have only visited once but I'm not sure it's deserving of a two-star rating. Yeah, it's not the best but it's still a decent place to work out. In a lot of ways, it's your standard PF; a lot of cardio and machines mixed with some free weights. My biggest complaint would be the men's locker room. It wasn't nearly as nice or large as the other others I've visited. But it still got the job done. I essentially started a Yelp profile just to leave this review. The issue isn't the staff, who are perfectly fine, or even the location, although the parking is brutal. The problem is the sheer number of people and this location's complete inability to handle the volume. This gym is always packed. It doesn't matter if it's a Saturday morning, a Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., or any other time of day. The odds of the machine you need actually being available are slim to none. The locker room and bathroom facilities also seem to have been built for maybe ten adults, yet there are regularly 20 to 30 people packed inside waiting to use them. It's miserable to navigate, and your workout constantly suffers because of it. I travel for work and have been to more Planet Fitness locations than I care to admit. This is, without question, the worst one I've experienced. I won't be returning to this location. I'm writing this review as much to remind myself as anything else. Dear Planet Fitness corporate: build three more Planet Fitness locations in New Hampshire north of Manchester. There are far more people up here than you seem to think. Ah, Planet Fitness--the "Judgment Free Zone" unless, of course, you're trying to cancel your membership. Then you're judged, delayed, ignored, and possibly hexed by an ancient gym wizard who lives in the front desk printer. I signed up online in five minutes flat. Easy. Beautiful. A purple and yellow dream. But cancel? Oh no. That requires a handwritten scroll, delivered via certified owl, notarized by three witnesses and signed in the tears of past members who also tried to escape. I'm military...I moved across the country! You'd think that would be enough, right? Nope. Apparently, unless I teleport back to the Concord, CA location and hand-deliver my resignation like I'm breaking up with a clingy ex, I'm out of luck. Seriously, you can sign up online but can't cancel online? That's not fitness. That's financial hostage-taking with a lunk alarm. And don't even get me started on the checking account requirement. I have subscriptions to streaming services, AI bots, and even a mushroom coffee startup, and none of them needed my bank routing number. But Planet Fitness? They're like, "Give us direct access to your soul and primary checking account or no treadmill for you!" Look, I don't need a judgment-free zone. I need a grift-free zone. Canceling should not require a legal defense team and a trail of breadcrumbs through bureaucracy. To future members: consider this a warning. I cancelled my membership because of this location. I've moved a lot and had home gyms in MA, NH, FL, and GA. This is by far the worst. The staff are rude and totally unhelpful. There are a billion treadmills but not enough strength training equipment for the number of members typically there. You'll sit and wait forever for a machine. And don't even get me started on the summers when they let teens go free. There's kids just hanging out socializing on the machines. They don't even pretend to be working out. Just taking up space and staff do nothing. Sucks that there's no other gyms in my area. I miss going to the gym but this place is awful and overcrowded with staff who won't help with anything! read more

I joined at Concord NH the club. I asked about pricing and what fees might be additional. There was no mention of a $49 machine fee that came 2 months after signing up. I also found out I was being charged late fees because my account was set up incorrectly and there was no primary payment method. I signed up at the local facility, they did the setup wrong. They would not refund the penalty payments. read more

This location wasn't bad but wasn't great. The locker room was really crowded which I'm not used to seeing that. It had a good layout but with the large number of people, there wasn't enough places to layout your stuff as needed. The showers are super small like the size of a large RV shower. The water was nice and hot. They have the old school mats which slide as you try to stand on them. There are a rows of ellipticals which go unused yet all the treadmills were in used. The reason I will not go back is because they have hydromassage loungers rather than beds. The loungers are so uncomfortable; why would anyone buy these? read more

I have zero ratings for this Planet Fitness. It's absolutely appalling that they allow people who are transitioning to go into the women's locker room. I am not cool with that. I would never even be able to bring my granddaughter. I asked them why they couldn't have added a third bathroom specifically for people who were transitioning and I got a lot of attitude & unprofessionalism! I used to go to planet fitness some years back and it was great but they have totally turned their back on biological women and I just can't figure out how the women that go there are OK with this happening in the women's locker room/bathroom. read more

Incredibly rude and unprofessional staff kicked my wife out for taking a 2 minute phone call. She was away from everyone, quiet, and not bothering anybody. She canceled her membership right then and there and I highly advise others to do the same. Completely ridiculous. read more

Air ducts could use a cleaning. Actually everything could use a good dusting like above the mirrors and the rope pull down thing in the stretching room. Love breathing in skin flakes while I work out, but maybe some people might not? I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Go in to ask about a membership. Im wearing cargo shorts and flip flops so obviously not there to work out. As soon as I walk in the door Im yelled at in unison by three simpletons doing a whole lot of nothing at the front desk to "WEAR A MASK!" Ironic considering Ive heard nothing but how nasty the place is. So I informed them I didn't have a mask assuming that they would have some available if they are forcing people to wear them, but all i got were protests about me coming in. So I walked away informing them they just lost my business. They then snickered about it, not caring at all they just harmed their own place of employment. Seemed they enjoyed kicking people out more than letting them in. Masks are not required by law for customers and guests it is recommended IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS. So if a business such as a gym is going to make you put them on and take them off for no benefit whatsoever, the least they can do is provide the masks. After all if you really believe the masks you are wearing are effective, then why are you afraid to talk to a potential new customer and yelling at them? Again it is not the law. In the future, provide a mask, dont have three stooges yell at potential customers upon entering, and actually give someone a chance to explain why they are there. read more

Great renovation but It's impossible to block out their choice of music because it's so loud. I've tried different earbuds, headphones and even earplugs. Makes the workout experience miserable So I'm thinking of moving to another gym even though we have few options locally. They just need to turn it down by one or two notches. read more

This place is a dump! The Fort Eddy location needs to be shut down and rebuilt like they were talking about doing not long ago. NH's capital should have a better pf than this. The parking and the size of the gym is inadequate. You better be good at coming up with a plan B or even C with your workout if you come during peak hours. The place is dirty and falling apart to the point were I can't see it ever really looking clean and nice again. The locker room and showers make you wonder if you might contract something when you use them. On the good side, the staff are always nice and polite. The new massage chairs are great, and it's kinda close to my place of employment. I could go on further about the ups and downs of the franchise, but this is strictly in regards to this location so I'll leave it alone for now. read more

Decent location. Unfortunately when they expanded, they shrunk the free weight area so it's the most crowded part of the club. They're also keeping it a lot warmer this summer, to the point that even my wife was uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it's because they didn't plan on cooling the bigger space, or if they're just trying to temporarily cut costs after being shut down by the state. read more

Tried to sign up a few times and has been closed intermittently. Made it in today, the plans at the front desk are not as advertised online. Also, planet fitness requires a checking account number and routing number. I will refuse to give that information out more than necessary and a gym membership certainly is ridiculous. You cannot sign up with a credit card. Strange business practices that I disagree with. Staff was friendly and the place looked very open and clean- my review is on Planet Fitness as a business in general. Will be getting a membership elsewhere. Edit: In response to PF: with this requirement for EFT you lost multiple memberships at this location today as we were fully ready to either pay with credit or cash. A bank account number gives your company, the kids working the front desk, and the folks around the desk in line direct access to my account. We are not willing to pay via EFT due to security reasons. Looking through other online reviews it appears our business is not the only that has been lost with this review. If utilities, cable and internet, streaming services don't require an EFT then your gym membership shouldn't either. EFTs should be reserved for real estate, other loans, place of employment for direct deposit... PF should look at a change in business practices and perhaps gain new customers! read more

It's $10 a month. However, I go to the gym to do a daily hour of cardio in the winter. I like to watch TV while I run. They recently changed their TV channels. They now have two screens of info-mercials, a screen of sitcom re-runs, lifetime movies, CNBC, and Fox News. I told their staff that Fox news was propaganda, and asked if they could have a channel dedicated to MSNBC or Al Jazeera news as well....that would be fair and balanced, right? Nope. These are the channels we have..... So we know where the company stands politically. But here is the thing that killed me: NFL Championship Sunday. They don't have the NFC Championship game on, because they have to show the two damned info-mercials, and Fox News instead. Could you change one? Nope. Really? Parking is awful, the locker rooms smell funny. I could live with all that. But I can't watch a football championship game at a gym? That'll do it for me. read more

OK, this place is getting two stars because they need to do some major rethinking of this gym: Pros: Lots of machines, seems to be well kept up and there are good options, open 24 hours, yes in a row, and the staff is very nice Cons: The locker rooms need serious upgrades, the parking lot is a demilitarized zone and many times you cannot find parking, there are pot holes everywhere and getting in and out is a circus. 7 years since my first review. I cant believe I gave it 2 stars at one point. Regardless, in those 7 years the only things that have changed at this cesspool of a gym is the wallpaper, the mirrors in the mens locker room and few TV's were replaced. Oh yeah they also added a missing urinal privacy wall that was missing. yay i no longer have to look at dudes wangs while i wash my hands... This place needs to be bulldozed or relocated. I have been to Planet fitness locations all across the country on business trips and my home gym, in the state capital of the state where Planet Fitness orginated is by far the worst one by a landslide. I maintain the only reason this place stays in business is the never ending flow of new members thanks to NHTI and the lack of competition in the concord area. If there is any glimmer of hope, there was a team of engineers milling around the place a few months ago debating what they should do. I just hope they do more than the wallpaper read more

People say PF isn't a great gym because the judgment free zone limits the intensity of the workout. I disagree with that, I could get a sufficient work out... If the gym wasn't packed. The gym doesn't seem like it can accommodate the huge flux of people it has right now. The parking is awful. I didn't believe it at first when people told me that. But now, I absolutely see it, unless I go at 5am or 11pm. I have a hard time getting a good circuit in because people are way too close. The ladies locker room isn't very bad, but it's not clean either. I never ever use the showers at this location, because the floors are always wet and dirty when I'm there. I guess you get what you pay for. The only reason I'm giving this gym 2 stars is because of the fantastic staff. Kris is a great, enthusiastic trainer. read more

So... started going to this gym years ago, then took some time off, and recently returned. Nothing much has changed at the gym since the last time I was there. It could use some upgrades, but it is better than other PFs in the area in that it does not have that warehouse-like ambiance that so many of them have. I used to go to the old PF across from CMC in Manchester and that was the best PF I have ever been to. This one is the next best thing. Like any other PF, they are open 24/7 except for holidays, which is great. They don't have a pool, and I don't care. (If you want to swim, go to the Y when they are open, and pay the price. A sauna would be nice, though.) That being said, the locker rooms could use an upgrade,, and the parking lot is a minefield. Also, as a Black Card member, I would like to see hydromassage beds available at the Concord location, and as they don't have room for them and I am not interested in most of the BC benefits they do offer, and go primarily to the Concord location, I feel a bit deprived as far as my membership benefits go. As far as the complaints I need reviewer made about continuing to be charged after she called and said she wanted to cancel her membership, all I can say is read the fine print. The only way to cancel your membership is to put it in writing. It's not hard to do. If you can write a review, you can write a letter. I did when I cancelled my membership in the past, and the request st was honored promptly and with zero issues. Write the goldurn letter, lady! read more

Shower water is never hot, half the equipment is nearly broken and other wise is marked off so what good is it. The stair machines do not hook up to the TV. The people there only 2 are ever nice. They do not give directions well will have you waiting for a massage of some sort for 10 mins. Only to have you come back out and they never started it. read more

I cannot believe how absolutely disgusting this gym is. I come in with my friend during the day at about 3pm and the place is a disaster. The trash is always overflowing, the cleaning bottles are always empty, and the staff just sits around and pretends to work. Sometimes I even see the staff working out! How is this allowed? Absolutely poorly managed. I thought the entire staff was incapable of doing anything UNTIL we decided to work out at 4 am (job change earlier made more sense) and the staff was SO MUCH friendlier! They were on the ball with their work, always super positive, and really helpful! It's a bummer they have such a solid team working when not many people are around because they really are spectacular. I definitely will be avoiding this PF during any daylight hours if this is how the management will choose to run the place. read more

I will say this though. The staff here always seem to be cleaning, refilling paper towel dispensers etc. Only problem is you cant clean old showers, tanning booths to the point where they look good. So staff get 4 stars but the gym itself still only gets 2. read more

If you're into that sort of thing, great. visited my home PF for the first time today in months stopped going because the bathrooms are always so nasty. bathrooms are worse than before broken handles on the showers water on the floor by the sinks and stand up toilets. you'd be crazy to shower in these units unsafe and nasty couldn't imagine brushing up against the nasty shower curtains. the floors in the locker rooms are nasty and sandy don't walk bear foot. on top of that I walk out after drying my sneakers to fill my water bottle and start my work out and the one water fountain is taped off so I go to the counter and the lady says you can buy a bottle for a buck or fill up on the sink! really????? I travel all over the country and this is by far the nastiest I have ever been in and the sad thing is its been this way for years. read more

I was in Concord on business. I needed a gym. Planet Fitness is open 24x7 (like my 24 Hour Fitness back home) so I dropped $20 for one work out. This only covered one day. I guess you take what you can. For a gym I could go to 10 PM on a Sunday I'd love to give it 5 stars. I am a weight lifter. This is not weight lifters gym. The dumbbells go up to 75 pounds. I do shrugs (for example) with 120s. There are not stand alone weight benches (flat, inclined or decline). Instead... They use H-bars (the guy rail things that people who are afraid to lift. The bar on these things is not 45 pounds as is the case with a standard bar. I found it hard with the guide rails to get the right balance/arm position. I worked 25 pounds under my normal weight (only 200 pounds on bench) and my chest hurts (okay that is a good thing) in area I am not used to it hurting. Too bad the local Golds Gym closed at 8 PM. read more

The new expansion, renovation and new equipment is fantastic. This is one of the nicest Jims I have been in around the United States and out of the country. The reinvestment certainly paid off and this is the gym to go to. The manager Jen does a great job And the staff is definitely focused on service and cleanliness.
