I love planet fitness but this location is TERRIBLE! I had never been to this location and decided to give it a try since I was passing by. Make the drive! Go to a different location! When I first walked in, the staff member was wearing headphones and was on his phone. No greeting. I doubt he even saw me walk by. I went to the women's locker room and was absolutely appalled! All of the toilets were dirty, DUSTY(tells you they have not been cleaned in some time) and had urine or feces on the tank or down the front of the toilet! This location is busy! How can it be that no one is cleaning this bathroom!? The equipment is not well maintained here. I saw at least 3 machines with signs that said "out of order" and one of the toilets in the women's locker room was also "out of order." When I went to leave, the guy at the front was still on his phone, looked up and nodded and then went back to whatever he was doing. This location needs HELP! I highly recommend the Blaine location off hwy 65 or the Coon rapids location at Riverdale! Those are managed very well!! read more

The staff were very friendly. The water bottle filling station has white substance all over it, making me a little weary of using it to refill my water. The workout areas were pretty clean and everyone here has been courteous. All machines were working and they were well spread out. The free weight area had a lot of room so you don't feel like you're intruding on others working out. read more

I cancelled my membership last year when they brought in new machines. I'm 5"1' and a woman just trying to keep my body strong and healthy. The new machines are ridiculously bulky and oversized. I felt like a little child crawling up into the giant's furniture. When I couldn't adjust or figure out how to make the leg lift machine meet the right spots for correct use, I grabbed my things, went to the desk and cancelled my membership. I was angry! This place has a lot of equipment and nice relaxation room. I like the no judgement feel of the place. In my opinion a lot of the equipment isn't high quality and the staff is poorly trained. I have asked staff members how certain equipment works or how to log into a piece of equipment. The response is generally "I don't know" with no attempt to find out. I understand the Peloton type bikes won't actually allow you to login, because they didn't buy bikes that could store enough addresses for a club environment. I like the relaxation rooms but at times a lot of items are not working. This is a low cost leader and if your expectations aren't too high it's an ok place to workout. read more

The staff person said "Oh, you want to sign up for Silver Sneakers?". Which broke my little heart because I'm nowhere near 65 years old! I am starting to consider myself a Planet Fitness aficionado. Hey, it's better than a stick in the eye. This brand new location has everything I need - a convenient location, friendly staff, new and updated equipment, clean facility, tanning, massage beds, and all for an affordable rate. For those who don't know, it's $10/mo for a membership, and $20/mo for the Black Card upgrade, which grants you unlimited tanning and massage bed-ing. BC holders also get 50% off items in the cooler and 20% off New Balance purchases. I think it's silly not to upgrade. And there's no start-up fee. I think this is my third time reviewing a PF in the last year, so here's some things that set this location apart from the rest: customer service. I've encountered some miserable fire-breathing heathens behind the counter of PF before, but not here. And of course everything is updated and clean, since it's new. The machines are of a higher model than I've seen before. They have 20+ HD TVs on the cardio deck and weight room. The women's dressing room often has fresh flowers - one can underestimate the power of a nice bouquet in a room where I just saw a stranger's tits. I often see the employees cleaning and maintaining the facility. And though the machines are pretty close together, there are plenty, so you won't have to wait for your favorite one. They also have a spacious parking lot, so you never have to walk far to your car after you just hauled ass on a treadmill. And though they do not have fitness classes like kickboxing and zumba, they offer training classes and have personal trainers. I'm pretty sure they are included in the membership. Another perk is that there are several locations, and as a BC member, you are able to frequent any facility, unlimited. The last perk is that I am able to afford burning off all of the bacon I eat. I've been away from the gym for a long time due to an injury. Nov 1 fell on a Monday -- perfect! Let's get going again! The app let me schedule a tour and time with a trainer to come up with a plan. Great! I'm also scoping out gyms to recommend my company partner with. I got to the gym, sorry, no trainer. Also no one was able to give me a tour. So I looked for a rowing machine, which is what my physical therapist recommended. I couldn't find one, so I went back to the front desk and asked where it is. "We don't have any. They're broken." I asked if this is the situation at all PFs. The girl at the desk shrugged. "Try Blaine." Whatever she's getting paid is too much. I called the Columbia Heights location and was told there's a trainer on site and yes, they have a rowing machine. This location is less convenient, but at least they have what I'm looking for. Well, no. I drove there, checked in, circled around looking for the rowing machine. Again, I went to the front desk. "No rowing machine?" "No. " Are you kidding me?? This girl had to be the one I just talked to on the phone. "There's a weight machine that might work." I had the trainer show me the equipment and gave it a shot. Negative. Not what I expected. And a waste of time. To their credit, both locations were clean. However... Zero stars, Planet Fitness. Not recommended. read more

Honestly, I have to echo what others have observed. I've been to more than a few PF locations throughout the country, and the issue here is the staff. Most of the time there is no one even at the front desk. I had an employee ask me I needed any of the black Card services when I walked in one day. When I said "no I'm good", she said, "ok, I'm leaving the next person will be here in like 5-10 minutes." This girl actually left the building unattended and got in her car. Again, When there's a couple of employees there most of them are just having a conversation behind the desk or sitting on a yoga ball so that you can't see them on their phone. It's crazy that people are actually getting paid to do this job. read more

I've been working out at planet fitness on a trial basis lately. My only complaints: Definitely not enough cool air circulation. If I got any hotter than what I do, I'd probably pass out. They need cool air! Install fans. Turn the air conditioner on or up. If it gets any hotter in there, it'll stink like BO. The drinking fountain water is way too warm. I much prefer cold water! Again, I get so hot in there I feel nausea and have to stop my workout. Turn up the air and install fans! read more

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They charged my card extra fees and they could not explain to me why, they continue to say that your banking info is I correct and then charge you a late fee, their staff is a joke, especially their "manager" Rylie, the GM told me he would be there until 7pm to talk to me about the extra charges and when I called at 645, Rylie hung up on me because I didnt want to talk to Rylie, and then this poor excuse of an employee hung up on me. Thwn I went to the location to cancel membership and then requested their district managers contact info, and Rylie said that they could not give out that info. BULLSHIT!!!! If its requested, you have to give it out, you just didnt want your DM to find out what a joke of a location and employee you are, RYLIE!! Planet Fitness is a scam, rude employees, unprofessional, and I strong ugly advise YOU STAY AWAY FROM THEM!! I've been coming to this same location for a year, but now I will long longer be returning your staff is very rude, I was told to insert my "damn card" while purchasing a tanning packet. The staff always is talking with one another not focused on helping guess or getting beds cleaned so people can get in them tan and be on there way home. Very displeased. read more

My review will mostly just cover the service cause honestly, I am the type of girl who thinks a gym is a gym. So I have been a member for 8 months now and no complaints. Service has been very friendly- more so than other gyms I have been a member at. Most importantly though- I was there recently and I went tanning and I (get ready- you're gonna think I'm a idiot cause I would) LEFT MY ENGAGEMENT RING IN THE ROOM! AHHHHH! Full blown panic mode. I called the gym at midnight and *praise the Lord* it had been turned in! I do not know who but I just know it was a female employee found it. She didn't shove it in her pocket to pawn or sell online, which she could have EASILY, she was honest and turned it in. It's good to know there are people with some integrity out there and that Planet Fitness hired them! I am very please to be a part of Planet Fitness! As for the gym itself- there are no classes like Zumba or yoga and also, no pool. Which would be super awesome because those are the only things I miss from being at a larger gym. But for the price point I understand. There are plenty of cardio machines and weight machines and free weights have a nice amount of space. I live in Ramsey and Planet fitness in Coon Rapids is my go to gym! I love it because it's never crowded in the evenings as I usually like to workout after work. The staff at the Coon Rapids Planet Fitness make me so frustrated. When I originally signed up in Dec 2014, I asked about the health reimbursement benefit. The person who was helping me said that I need to visit 12 times a month to be reimbursed $20/mo. by my health insurance. I live in Brooklyn Park so I told the PF employee that I would only ever use the Brooklyn Park PF and he said that was fine. I only signed up at the Coon Rapids PF because they had a better special going on. After about a week of signing in at the Brooklyn Park PF, I asked the Brooklyn Park PF employees to verify how many check-ins I had. They told me they could not provide that information because my home club is the Coon Rapids PF and they are a different franchise chain from the Coon Rapids PF. Brooklyn Park PF could only tell me about my last check in with them but no other historical information. I further inquired with the Brooklyn Park PF employees about how I would be reimbursed by my health insurance if no one was tracking my check ins. The Brooklyn Park PF employees told me that they have members who just call into their club each time they go visit another PF. Since they're not my home club, there was nothing they could really do to assist me. I was upset because Coon Rapids had not informed me of this and I had received no credit for all the Brooklyn Park check-ins during that past week. I called Coon Rapids PF and they confirmed that they are a different franchisee and run on a different computer system. Coon Rapids PF informed me that I needed to call them each time I visited a different PF so that they could manually check me in. The only times I didn't need to call them was if I visited the Coon Rapids, Roseville and Burnsville locations because they were owned by the same franchisee. Again, I told them that I would only ever use the Brooklyn Park PF but they assured me this would solve the issue. I was annoyed and thought it was an inconvenient solution but figured it was worth it for the $20/mo. health insurance reimbursement. For the past three months, I've been calling in each time I visit Brooklyn Park PF (which is the only club I go to) and have been signing into the visitor log located at the Brooklyn Park PF front desk. Well, today I called the Coon Rapids PF as I was heading to the Brooklyn Park PF, like usual, so that they could check me in. The employee (Nick) who answered the phone at Coon Rapids said he could not manually check me in because I was not technically visiting the Coon Rapids location. I proceeded to inform Nick that I was following the procedures that they (the Coon Rapids PF employees) had given me. Nick was hesitant but I kept persisting I needed him to check me in otherwise I wouldn't get credit for my health insurance reimbursement. He was reluctant and who knows if he actually did it; but, I think he finally did manually check me in. I griped about this to the Brooklyn Park PF employee who checked me in as a visitor and he informed me that I should just transfer to the Brooklyn Park PF and make that club my home club. He said that he didn't know how to do it but that other members have changed their home clubs in the past. The Coon Rapids PF employee who signed me up as a member should have explained all of this to me. If I would have known it was this difficult, I would have forgone the Coon Rapids special and just signed up with the Brooklyn Park PF. He was more concern with signing up a new member and improving his metrics than what was best for the customer. Additionally, when I made my initial complaint about my check-ins, the Coon Rapids PF should have transferred my home club to the Brooklyn Park location. Again, the Coon Rapids franchise would rather keep my membership dues than do what is best for the customer. Also, why is it my job to train every new Coon Rapids employee on their own policies? Planet Fitness is big enough that they should have figured out a solution for this. The managers at the Coon Rapids PF need to do a better job of training their employees to better inform their customers, as well as think about their customers' best interest. If you sign up for membership at any PF and are expecting a health insurance reimbursement, make sure you understand all the above about the different franchises. Next step is to change my home club to Brooklyn Park (again, why do the Coon Rapids PF not know about this AND if they do know about this, why do they not offer it as a solution?) read more

I was a transplant from L.A. Fitness right around the corner. The gym is just too big and doens't meet my needs anymore, and it was more than I should have been paying for. Joined PLanet Fitness this week. I was hesitant before to join because of all the negative review I saw about Planet Fit. This location, Coon Rapids, MN is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!! The locker rooms are ALWAYS CLEAN! I LOVE the circuit rooms! It's genious! Since I loved Curves, I can now do the circuit as it fits into my schedule so well! One thing to remember, with a 20$/month membership you get what you pay for. So I don't expect these high school/college students to be on top of their game with customer service. However, they have been great so far and very personable at this location. It really is a great buy for your buck! I would say, though, you need to read your contract! Every club has different cancelation policles. It's very difficult to cancel with L.A. Fitness. So read your contract! No one is responsible for that but you. Those that are new to the whole fitness world might face more confusion, understandably, compared to those of us who are more familiar with how clubs work. There can be confusion about canceling, how many visits you've had etc.. Check with your health insurance company to find out how much they will cover - the kids at the front desk probably aren't going to be able to look up that information for you. Honestly, I wouldn't want them to get involved with all of that. I have to take responsibility for my contract and all that involves. If yo uhave trouble understanding the policies, ask a close friend to help you go over it. Once you sign that contract, you are the only one responsible for getting it right. I have never heard of strange things like, not being able to bring a gallon jug of water on to the floor with you. I actually was told I needed 10 visits for my health insurance, but I'm not taking her word for it, I will go to my insurance's website and find out fo myself. I love love love the reward I get aftet my workout - the HydroTables and Massage Chairs and Taninng booths! I have neck issues, and so using these tables really helps me loosen up my muscles after a work out as well as my mind! So far, there have been no staff issues for me at this location. Like I said, you get what you pay for, so don't expect absolutely top notch service. But they have been very courteous so far.. LOVE this club! read more

There are definitely a lot more treadmill so I don't think it would be a concern if you are afraid there would be none left after u get off work. Locker was good. Well my boyfriend and I will never return to this location again. I wrote this on May 22nd, 2018 but I didn't post it until now as I didn't want to risk hurting those involved. A few nights ago(May 14, 2018)we came in to do our nightly workout, I was pretty new to gyms and didn't know much. My mind was put to rest when we came into the gym as the staff on duty (I think their names were Nicole and Tori) were more then welcoming and accepting. I started talking to Nicole and she gave me a quick tour of the facility, was friendly, and went above and beyond after signing me up as a guest to make me feel welcome(not something I was used to having just come out of the closet). After our workout we found that Nicole was just starting her lunch break and since my boyfriend went to use the total body enhancement she invited me to join her. After a while I asked if she was weirded out by me(being Transgender I know I can have this affect on some) "Hey, it takes one to know one. I'm proud to work for a company that gets how to be respectful of LGBT issues." I couldn't believe I was hearing this, she was so open about how this place was a a very safe haven, even the guests who were a little intolerant kept it to themselves. That "The judgement free zone" isn't just a slogan, or applicable to weight, but to lifestyle as well. It was so reassuring to know that someone like me was respected by a company this big. The next night(May 15, 2018) we came back and there was Nicole just as happy as always, and then it happened. After changing I went out to start working out and I saw Nicole and another employee (I'm guessing as he didn't have a name tag but had a bunch of Planet Fitness merch on, and Nicole seemed to be following his orders.) she seemed a little annoyed by something. I heard some pretty loud voices coming from that bathroom/locker room but I couldn't make out what was said. But I soon saw the man leave in a huff back to the desk where his other employee seemed to be annoyed with him. I didn't see Nicole for a few more minutes but when she exited the locker room, that wasn't the same person I saw earlier that night. She went back to the counter and he said something and she seemed to wince a little at it(as I was behind her I can't be certain). After he left her coworker basically took her into a backroom and all I heard was some tearing cardboard and some angry muttering. When she emerged she saw me and tried to give a smile but I could tell something happened. She remained professional throughout the night, refusing to tell me what had just happened but something was just eating at her. So I asked if she would care to get some breakfast after her shift ended.(I've learned a random act of kindness goes a long way) Again she refused but I got the sense it wasn't because she didn't want to go. The next night we came back and Tori and Nicole were behind the counter again but again it looked like Nicole was putting on a brave face and Tori wasn't having any of it. Nicole went into the male bathroom, where my boyfriend found her crying. He again made the offer to go to breakfast and she agreed but it would have to be on the weekend. Saturday came and we waited for our workout until the end of graveyard (or as Nicole sometimes calls it the Vampire shift) and said we'd meet her over at the Denny's down the road. A little over an hour later she came in, and seemed like she was a little distracted. After a little prodding she apologized to me. That she was sorry that what she had told me the first night had been turned into a lie in just 24 hours. She told me she couldn't really say what happened, but it was at the point that she was ready to quit. I asked who it was who she got yelled at by that night and she told me that was the Assistant General Manager. That he had ripped her a new one, but not about her cleaning or her job performance but she wouldn't elaborate. And it seemed that when she called her General Manager she wasn't responding to her voice mail. I'm not sure what is going on but for a company to take one of the most effervescent personalities I've encountered in a graveyard shift, and to crush it, I'm not sure I want to know even if she would tell me! We swapped numbers and called I called her today(May 22, 2018), she seemed back to her old self. She said that there was a good chance she was going to be transferred to another gym. I've been told by several other employees who are there that Nicole isn't the only one who is soon to be departing this location, but Tori and a few others as well. It seems this exodus has only happened in the past 3 weeks. I don't know what is happening but if Nicole sees this, we'd like to know what gym you land in as we'll be going there! I love my Planet Fitness in Coon Rapids! It is a very clean and quiet location. I usually visit after 12AM and there is usually fewer than 5 people in the gym itself. The staff is a little...different but they seem to work hard and stay busy. So far I don't have any complaints about PF. read more

The staff are completely incompetent at this location. There is one girl who is nice, but other than that, they don't even know how to work their computers. One employee, who looks like the creepy guy from Prisoners, took 25 mins to sign me up, when the girl processed 4 ppl in that time. And then confronted someone behind me for "staring at him." No bench press. No squat rack. The locker rooms are average. Only have like 5 benches with the Dumbbells. That might just be planet fitness in general. I guess for $10 it makes sense, but I will leave as soon as my month is up. read more

I have been coming to this gym for 3-4 years now (other locations as well) and have never had a problem. Everyone has always been very nice. Today I want in and decided to tan. Ciara asked me how long I wanted to go and gave me my to ticket for my bed. I went to my bed and got all undressed and my bed had never been turned on. If people tan they know how annoying this situation is! So then I put my clothes back on and came out to tell her my bed hasn't been started. Then I went back into the room and got all undressed again to find out my bed wasn't turned on again! So annoyed had to put all my clothes on again and come out and tell her. She then asked my what bed she even gave me and how much time I wanted to go! Like what didn't we just have this convo when you gave me the ticket for my bed!? I was like full time what!!?? And she told me that I didn't need to be rude to her. I wasn't rude at all and she had an attitude and wouldn't look at me when I talked to her. PF Coon Rapids is clean and has good equipment but it gets over crowded in the early evening. The front desk staff are totally lacking in customer services skills. They've hired pretty young girls to staff the desk that don't know the first thing about customer service, including how to greet their customers or thank them for their patronage. As you check in or leave, they will either completely ignore you or treat you like you're an inconvenience and a distraction from their conversations with each other. In addition, they probably don't know the first thing about fitness training as I've never seen them working out or training customers. Their Manager needs to spend some time training his staff on customer service skills and hire people that are enthusiastic, actually appreciate their customers and know something about fitness training. read more

From what I am finding out Planet Fitness is simply concerned with money. Friendliness, courtesy, and aptitude for fitness are certainly not requirements to work her. I dutifully paid my membership for the entire year, despite only using it for approximately 1 month. My year was up and then I assumed since I signed a "1 year contract" my 12 payments would satisfy them. However, I was brutally wrong. They are continuing to bill me and offer no option to cancel this unless I come in, in person, and give them a signature. Apparently, they do not have a fax machine, email, or the ability to get the US mail. Very deceiving. read more
