Over the past year, she has become increasingly more protective and sometimes aggressive toward other dogs, including my extended family's dogs. It was to the point that I was considering rehoming her. It was breaking my heart. I decided to launch a Hail Mary pass and started researching dog trainers in my area who specialize in dog aggression and I stumbled across Joyce. She has been our savior. Emmie is my third healer and I really felt that I understood this breed. I have had several trainers with my other dogs but Joyce completely changed my understanding of dog behavior and training. She dispelled many myths that I believed were true. Today my dog is a different dog. My family is blown away. She rarely shows aggression toward other dogs and she is able to play and interact with other dogs without showing anxiety, fear or aggression. Although she has very strong herding instincts, which can often be misinterpreted as aggression even by her owner , Joyce has taught me how to redirect her. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable, it is obvious that she truly cares about dogs and their well-being. I am truly grateful for the difference that she has made in both of our lives! I will never again consider rehoming Em. I highly recommend Joyce to anyone who needs assistance with training issues. In a perfect world she would be on retainer! It was exhausting for me at times. My husband thought it was too late to train an almost 7 year old dog but I thought contacting Mona and getting a free demo would not hurt. Boy,was I right! After the demo I knew what I had to do and signed up for dog training lessons. What a difference! I rescued a lovely 6 year old male Portuguese Water Dog who had somehow gotten away from his previous owners and was found wandering around the North Georgia Mountains. I was keen to make sure that the same thing didn't happen again since my new buddy clearly had strong instincts to chase things. He also had no idea that a human was on the other end of his leash and would drag me into his chase with the squirrels too. After just 2 weeks with Mona, my dog was happier, more confident, and wonderfully obedient. And I'm happier as a result too. I am no longer being pulled to and fro and he can walk by a squirrel without going completely nuts. The progress she made with him in such a short time was nothing short of miraculous! I am forever grateful to Mona for her patience, insight, skill, knowledge, kindness and most of all for the love she shared with my new best friend. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mona!
