It has a pleasant physical atmosphere. It's clean and the machines are in good shape. It's great for cardio work, but not strength training. It's more like a library than a gym. People sit down at a machine and look at their phone for 15 minutes while only exercising for one minute. At times I've waited 45 minutes to get on a machine while only two people used it during that time. It's pretty frustrating. It doesn't help to ask to work in a set. The response is always the same - " I'm almost done". It gets even worse. It's not unusual to see someone put their water bottle and phone on a machine, thus staking a claim, then walking away to use the restroom, talk to friends, etc. If your objective is to get a full workout, plan on spending several hours there to do it. read more

Tried to join Planet Fitness today. What an awful experience. I go in and say I want to join. I'm asked to fill out a form on their tablet. I do. I get email asking me to file out the SAME information. Now I'm on my phone, which for me is the worst possible interface (some of us have big thumbs). I fill out the form, with the SAME information. Great. The I get email that I'm in. but I should install their app. I start this, I need to log in. It does not recognize my password. I reset my password. I get email that there is suspicious activity on my account. I try a couple of time to enter or reset my password without success. Very frustrated, I say cancel everything, I don't want the membership. The folks behind the counter say they can check me in by name or phone number. It is not listed. Very frustrated, i just leave. Of course, Planet Fitness now has my bank account information. I suppose they can change me for leaving. To be clear, I don't fault the folk behind the counter. They have no control over this awful process. read more

I've meant to quit my own membership, but since I joined at a club on the east coast, they make it VERY difficult to cancel my membership. read more

I am told that this facility has new ownership. Since my last review the showers have been repaired, the clock has been replaced with a more modern version that actually works, and the broken machines, and the water fountains have been fixed. The folks at the front desk continue to be one of the best assets this gym has going for it. read more

I've had my membership here for 5 years but am cancelling immediately due to the disrespectful staff. I was told that I must keep personal items in a locker. All I had was a water bottle and a towel for wiping sweat off which I kept in a small bag, something that I've been doing for years there with no complaints. Official PF policy states no bags are allowed on the gym floor that are not in use. I was not in violation of this policy since my bag was not on the floor as I was hanging it on the water bottle holder, and I was clearly using it. When I tried to explain this to the staff member, she rudely informed me that personal items must be stored in a locker. But my items were in use! I left in frustration and she chased me out of the PF demanding my name. Unbelievable after 5 years. I'm changing to a gym that lets me keep my workout items with me and has a better trained more respectful staff! read more

During my recent visit to the gym today, I followed my usual routine, scanning my membership and proceeding to the back for stretches. However, upon returning to the front desk to utilize the massage chair, I was informed that there was an issue with my account, indicating a balance due. I approached the front desk associate to resolve the matter, but she responded by repeatedly yelling at me and demanding immediate payment of the overdue balance. Despite my calm demeanor and explanation that I had no intention of neglecting payment, she maintained a cold and dismissive tone. I emphasized that I would settle the payment that day and expressed my concern that if I were to continue my membership, I would face future interactions with staff in a similar manner. I believe that there is a more effective way to communicate potential issues, and I am hesitant to continue my membership if I am treated in a dismissive and aggressive manner. I expect a safe and respectful environment, particularly when addressing clerical matters. The person working last night first name starts with an L. When I Planet Fitness back later on to try to address the concerns I have, I was told that my membership would be cancelled because in her eyes I wasn't kind and courteous. I hope that I can get ahold of a manager before I decide if it's a good idea or not to pay the balance that is due. Dealing with here and unnecessarily getting yelled at and talked down to in front of people was totally uncalled for. read more

Get a damned cell phone policy. Went back to the Corvallis location today after stopping my membership due to COVID and there were many people sitting on machines staring at their phones. Oblivious to the fact that there were people around them wanting to use those machines. Since people are too rude, oblivious and addicted to their phones nowadays to care, I guess they need to be policed a little. Went to the front desk to complain and the person working was no help, saying that they were probably just resting between sets. Really? How annoying. I want to get in and get out quickly but this is impossible here and the staff is absolutely no help. *The canned response below from Planet fitness is no help and dosen't apply to my complaint. Planet Fitness seems to have policies about everything (making too much noise, wearing too little,etc) you'd think they'd also include something useful like not using the machines or benches to aimlessly surf, text and go through social media on your phones. geeze read more

This gym doesn't offer classes, but has lots of options for cardio and weights. Probably not a good option for serious weight lifters. I like the additional options of tanning (although I don't use it,) the hydromassage, massage chairs, and red light therapy. What I really appreciated though was this one guy at the front desk who made the effort to learn my name and says hi to me and goodbye to me and calls me by my name. It's an additional personal touch and makes me want to go back. There are some at the front desk who aren't very helpful and barely give you a smile. It's like they are robots. I know it's just a job, but take pride in it. Make people feel welcome and enjoy coming there. read more

So it seems that the management only cares for the bottom dollar, their bottom dollar.Yes COVID placed hardships on every kind of business. Right after COVID impacted everyone they closed for awhile and eventually opened up as mandates directed except for the shower part of the bathrooms which only recently opened. Due to personal circumstances the showers were the main draw for joining and paying the fees. So two yearly memberships of 39 dollars was extracted with no benefits to me. Today I decided to cancel, asked for a prorated refund of yearly membership. Was told they weren't setup for that. Could only have a refund within 7 days of renewal. I will walk away with 78 dollars less and nothing to show for it. I won't be back. The staff for the most part seemed friendly and upbeat. Except for the guy today who took my cancellation. No sense of understanding. read more

They have actually earned zero stars. Cancelled my account and asked for a refund for an annual fee which I was billed for the same say. Emailed them and called their office, asking for a refund... and their answer, without pause was: "no refunds". Wow... can you imagine running your business like this? Where your first reply, without hearing the details, is simply "no refunds"? Does that sound like good, honest business practices where you consider your customers and hope they leave feeling good about the goods and services you provide? Instead, they value $40 more than doing whats right and whats best. I love the atmosphere, the staff is super friendly and the prices with no contract is great. I do wish they had a personal trainer so I knew how to do more than cardio but the hydro chairs? Totally worth it after a work out. read more

I must say I love having the flexibility to go to many other locations as I travel often. I'm considering canceling my membership due to the Corvallis location. The gym has had so many out of order equipment, the padding is torn and sharp on equipment etc.. my main complaint is the cleanliness of the floors and beauty beds. There's never any paper towels, the door latch has been broken for months on the hybrid booth room. They say to put the yellow chair up to the door to hold it closed!!! The mats in front of the booths are covered in debris and hair. On multiple occasions I've had to get dressed and go back out to ask them to start the bed. They are usually too busy leaning on the back counter on their phones to acknowledge me when I walk up. read more

I LOVED going to Planet Fitness until today. I went in to put my membership on hold due Covid 19. Trying to follow the social distancing recs and because I have an 80yo mom I need to keep safe and not transmit anything to her. I was told that I had to have a doctor's note! There is NOTHING in their policy that says you need this! CLEARLY THEY CARE MORE ABOUT THEIR BOTTOMLINE THAN THE SAFETY OF THEIR MEMBERS AND THE LARGER COMMUNITY!! I went in for a one day free trial and was unimpressed with the customer service. Much more interested in visiting with each other behind the counter than helping me have a good experience. I have come to the conclusion that this gym is just not the right one for me. I am willing to overlook quite a bit given the price of membership but it is getting ridiculous. As with most gyms, it is better to go during off-peak hours and generally better to go earlier in the morning versus evenings. But it seems that no matter when I go, the place is a mess. The women's bathroom is routinely dirty and frequently out of the basics. If this were the case once in a while that would be one thing, but this is the case more often than not. The gym itself is frequently dirty (e.g., paper towels on the floor, dirty equipment). I tried to bring this to the attention of the staff and their general attitude made the experience unpleasant and tedious. (Pro tip: if you're going to talk about a customer on the phone, use the hold button so they don't hear you.) The equipment is good enough for general fitness, although it could use some more variety and general maintenance. The gym has the same issues as many other gyms, such as people who will just sit on equipment while scrolling on their phones, but these issues seem more pronounced and prevalent here. There are a number of little, simple things that could be done to make a big difference instead of just letting the place continue to slide downhill. All in all, this place could be (and was, in the beginning) much better, but someone has to care enough to make the change. read more

Upon looking at the other reviews, I decided to honestly review this gym solely based on the GYM. I understand customer service is important, but it really isn't necessary in a gym. I signed up on my phone, came in the first day, was helped with how to check in and went about my business at the gym all in about 20 minutes. The gym is large and clean from what I noticed, and it has three additional spaces for non-machine workouts. The facility is also geared towards, "no judgement" and kind of a "beginners to fitness" outlook. All of the machines are weight assisted, with no free weight options past 60 pounds. They don't have hex weight bars, free bar racks, or even boxes for jumps and elevated workouts. This is very much a gym for people working out because it's "good for them" as opposed to a gym where people workout because they "enjoy working out." From the perspective of a person who truly enjoys and has made fitness an important part of their life, I think this gym is subpar, I will probably change soon and feel held back due to the lack of vital weight lifting equipment. If weight lifting, calisthenics or body building is your focus I'd suggest somewhere else. The mentality at this gym makes being a "gym rat" synonymous to a negative, "judgey" person who throws weights on the ground. There's a "clunk" alarm in the gym that sounds if someone is "releasing their weights to abruptly" judging or grunting. I think this is literally the biggest joke. I grunt when I lift heavy because that's just what happens. I let go of the weight when I'm done lifting it because I'm done. It makes a loud sound when it hits the ground because I don't lift small, and larger mass = loud sound, that's on logic. Get over it Planet Fitness. read more

My bestfriend, boyfriend and I have been coming here recently and haven't had any problems other than yesterday, it's suppose to be A calm environment as what planet fitness comes out as, but the workers girl friend Coming in, not* to work out but Just to walk around with him And loudly accuse my boyfriend of "staring at her ass" out loud isn't ideal of a calm environment, generally people happen to look over and that was a bit excessive over reaction for Looking over even at the same time I happened to also. I most definitely would hope that doesn't happen to everyone, I wouldn't want to continue paying a membership and working out at this location if it does, as my boyfriend being a guy in this society, that makes him uncomfortable to go back considering that wasn't his intention but to only work out. read more

I wish that I could leave LESS than one star review. I signed up for a membership as soon as this gym opened, but then was disappointed when they opened much later than what they PROMISED. They opened close to a month later. When they finally did open, the accommodations were not even close to being finished and the interior was still under construction including the locker rooms and bathrooms. There wasn't that much great equipment and not many dedicated areas to have a comfortable ab/HIIT/circuit workout without people having to walk around you to get to other equipment. Everything was just OK, until COVID-19 hit and the gym closed (for good reason). They did not communicate well with gym members and since this gym is in a college town this gym had many college students who had to return to their hometowns. This PF was not considerate of these students situations and making CANCELING YOUR MEMBERSHIP VERY VERY DIFFICULT. We had to drive back down to Corvallis from Portland because we had to cancel our membership "in person", when they have a in depth online system that should be capable of canceling memberships on it. They made us pay for the time when it was closed. The only other option was to "cancel by mail" tf? Is this 1950? Very disappointing. To top it all off, the guy that worked at the front desk the day we went in to cancel our membership was rude and not understanding at all. read more

I attempted to switch my account over to a new card. After my new card was billed correctly, and I revoked permission to charge my old card, my old card was charged. As a result of this unplanned charge for an account I was no longer using, I was charged a $35 fee by the bank. The manager Marcus was uncooperative and very rude when I attempted to resolve this with Planet Fitness. As a result, I am out-of-pocket for $35 due to this unauthorized charge by Planet Fitness. I am attempting to resolve this with the bank, but of course these days the hold times are very long and hardly worth the $35. read more
