The gym policy seems to be strictly money first and disregard and respect or logic when talking to customers. Truly a 0/10 experience and im not sure how anyone can genuinely enjoy coming here. I've been going to Planet Fitness in Danbury for many years. I have been very satisfied with the gym. They maintain the machines adequately and keep everything clean and every interaction I have had with the staff has been pleasant. The only problem I have is the music playing too loud. I go in the morning and the last thing I want to hear is heavy metal and grunge rock where the lead singer does nothing but scream into the microphone. Most people I see working out have headphones or ear pods listening to their phones so I'm sure they would also appreciate having that music turned off. It's 2024 everyone brings their music with them there is no reason for the club to supply it. It is just an unnecessary nuisance. If not for that I would definitely give the club a high rating because you get a great deal for your money. When the music stops I will recommend it to all my friends. read more

Clean and well laid out but music is extremely loud here. When their "house music" is louder than your headphones this is an issue. Especially when you do not like what they are playing (mostly rap and hiphop). I've had this issue several times, but lately it is out of hand. read more

I do like it here, it's two floors and they've got everything and it's nice and bright and clean. I appreciate the glass windows that let in a lot of light in while you're working out... it's very Clean and it's got a ton of different equipment so you can get in the greatest work out. The staff is nice..The one thing I didn't like and it made me start going to other planet fitness locations instead is that they played WAY too much country music here. SCAMMERS DANBURY PLANET FITNESS I have Renew Active membership through my insurance. Planet Fitness participates. I tried to join Friday 12/30, so that I could workout during the weekend. It took a while for the kid at the front desk to look up from his phone. When he finally did, he informed me there was no such thing. He did not want to discuss it. I told him I should not be punished for his ignorance. He said I had an attitude. Yes I did, they were refusing to let me sign. Up. Then a Gen X gal kid who was sitting on the counter, came to his rescue and told me I could not join using this fake membership. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She said there was none available. I then showed them the web site, where it clearly showed that they accepted Renew Active. They still refused. I asked her to call someone. She refused. She said if I wanted to speak to a manager to come back next week. I asked her to call the corporate office to confirm that she was incorrect. She refused. I asked for the number, and called .myself. I spoke to Malakhi. He said I would have to speak to MANAGER ASHLEY. He also said Gen X kid girl said I was yelling at them. LIAR, but I was upset. I had a membership here and after 8 months they told me I have to pay an extra $81 and they didn't provide any reason or proof. I was also not allowed inside, and it happened on the same day, on my birthday, in the morning. When I tried to get in, the representative told me she would call the police. What they are did it was so disrespectful and unethical. So I left there so upset and signed up at the Edge fitness club. I've been a member at this location for 7 years, averaging 3 visits per week. I have however not been since Covid-19 hit in March. I realized today that I didn't know when I'd be able to go back, so I called to cancel my membership. I was informed that I couldn't cancel by phone, but would have to go to the gym or "send a certified letter (!) through the post office." Obviously, if I thought going was safe for me, I wouldn't be cancelling. This runaround is obviously intended simply to make it more difficult to cancel a membership so that PF can continue receiving my automatic payments until I can stop in. Over the last seven years, I've several times recommended this place to people despite the fact that some of the employees have been rather surly. Never again. read more

I was pretty excited when I heard Danbury was finally getting a Planet Fitness, especially since it was being built so close to where I lived. Unfortunately, my experience here within the first week concluded that I would be staying with NYSC for a number of reasons. First off, I came here twice to work out, both within about three days of each other. The line to just check in was outrageous, maybe 10+ people deep before my position, taking about 5-10 minutes just to check in. The worst part? Only one person from their staff was helping. This place is packed. Even after my two visits, I've guested here just to come for some quick cardio (which honestly is the only positive part about this place) and it's always difficult to find a treadmill/bike. Even finding a parking spot is a huge battle. I'm surprised they haven't capped their member limit yet, but then again, I'm not. Coming from gyms like Club 24 and NYSC, I had high expectations for the men's locker room since you'd think they'd be nice for how large the building was. They're pretty...bland and cramped. For the amount of members that sign up, they should have at least compensated with more lockers. I mean c'mon, Club 24's locker room is better and the company is definitely not as big or commercial as Planet Fitness. I should have assumed Planet Fitness would follow the guidelines of "No Olympic lifting" since they stress that they don't want their members intimidated by people who can actually lift, but really, not a single barbell? Really? I love squatting as much as the next guy, but there's no way you'll catch me doing it on a Smith machine. Oh yeah, and don't grunt if you decide to use the Smith machine, you'll get a warning or get get kicked out for being a "lunk." What a joke. Free pizza/bagels once a month at a GYM. Need I say more? Even the staff is a letdown. When I started my membership, I was told it was a no commitment deal and that I could cancel anytime I wanted, I just had to give a legitimate reason. I went to cancel it after my second visit just because of how much I wasn't getting done while being there and they tried saying I couldn't cancel. After about 10 minutes of arguing and talking to a manager I got it sorted out. I wrote down on the "reason for leaving line" that "NYSC was better." If this is the only gym in your price range and you'll use it solely for cardio, go for it. Otherwise, don't bother. read more

It was very much disappointment as nobody cared to even bother to explain or escort around the areas of the gym. I would not recommend this gym to any new joinies. Was a great place to work out but the place is very poorly managed. Was there on August 13th, 2019. All three paper towel dispensers on the 2nd floor were empty. When my wife went down to ask for some more paper towels, the worker behind the counter said they were out. A moment later the "Assistant Regional Manager" provided my wife with a half-roll of paper towels, proving the worker had lied. My wife criticized the fact that Danbury Planet Fitness's failure to order paper towels was a breakdown of the management. She turned and went upstairs when the manager followed her upstairs and warned her if she didn't change her tone, he'd call the police. Ultimately the police were called and she was asked to leave. Naturally I cancelled my membership in which I was a loyal Black Gold Member for more than 3 1/2 years. Regrettable that a manager with a fragile ego could have this kind of impact on a business. His desire to call the police was a huge case of overkill. My wife is 5' 2" and weighs 95 pounds. She was not doing anything illegal or imposing any threat. Better beware! It's be so easy to shit on this place, but I'm a member for a reason. And that reason is I'm a cheap son of a bitch. It's like 15 dollars a month. That's seriously the selling point of this place. If you care about client-business trust, privacy, a sense of community or even diversity of equipment or need a lot of weight this place just isn't for you. This is the sort of place that mandates you surrender a photo of yourself to their files. What do they do with it? It remains a mystery. I have my theories, none are appropriate for help. To be fair the staff has been nice, the gym has been clean and organized and the price is right. Being a naturally buff hunk I'm fortunate in that I don't need to work that hard to have my hard body. However, if you aren't as genetically gifted as I am the lack of basic equipment such as preacher curl set up or even free bench press (you can bench press on Smith machine, still not the same) might be a problem. All in all if you aren't expecting much and just want a basic, sometimes crowded gym at a low rate this place is perfectly fine. Oh and make sure to doll yourself up before your photo gets taken. The 3 star rating is a little generous at this point. I don't know if it is the post- Covid malaise we're all going through or if management/leadership is taking time off. The Danbury location is looking pretty shabby these days. The parking lot has old masks strewn all over and inside the club isn't a lot better. Lots of staff hanging around the desk and every few minutes someone sprays the counter top. The locker room floors need to be attacked as they are pretty grimy. Maybe its time to bring in a cleaning crew at night. I understand machines occasionally break down but they seem to be on top of that. The check in scanner at this gym was not working and the employee, Isaac, insisted I keep trying until it goes through even though it clearly wasn't. Instead of picking up the scanner to scan my phone himself after multiple failed attentions, he decided to snatch my phone out of my hand and scan me in. Unfortunately the gym manager was not there at the time. The employee then refused to give me his name when asked and proceeded to call the police on me and escort me out of the gym. I've been going to planet fitness for some time now recently I was on a machine with a mask on and having a hard time breathing I pulled the mask down a little and one of the workers was walking by and he started yelling that I had to pull my mask up this that and the other thing harassing the hell out of me then his buddies jumped in from over the counter and they started harassing the customers I tried to show them the email that I got from planet fitness that says you do not have to wear a mask on the machines I was well away from 6 ft from anybody I think the Danbury management at planet fitness is really going downhill I was there today the showers were dirty the hand sanitizer that you're supposed to have was empty every time I look over these guys are behind the desk on their phones laying on the counters it's really going downhill quite a bit I wouldn't recommend the planet fitness in Danbury read more

Other than the fact this gym is a bit out of my way, I have gone 3-5x/wk for a year and am totally satisfied! I wish the gym had legit group classes, but I guess for what we pay it makes sense that it doesn't. It is very good if you are self directed, but in the end I actually switched to NYSC simply because it was closer to me and had classes. I like being motivated by other people and having an instructor is nice :) I do miss the massage chairs, the hydro beds, and the free tanning :) read more

I am basing this review on all the Planet Fitness club with in 30 mile area and clearly this is the best. The club is a two level club with plenty of lighting and equipment that is clean and in working condition. I also used the Hydro Massage and that area along with the tanning area were it great condition. I did see some small paper items on the floor but that's on the members. If you're a Black card member like then the next best club is the new club in Mahopac in NY. Friendly staff that was more engaged then other clubs as well. read more

Annual fees are a scam. I cancelled my membership on Jan 1 and on same day i was charged $41 annual membership fee. Each time i call i get a different answer from the staff, from "don't worry, it won't go through because you cancelled", to "the payment is set to go through a week earlier, so there's no way to refund your money". Really? Since when does a business charge you an annual fee at the same time you cancel. None of this was explained or included in the membership agreement. I used to like it here because it's big and it was quiet in the afternoons. Now I can't even get a machine, and if I do I have a line waiting for them. The one thing that royally pisses me off is that NO ONE CLEANS THEIR MACHINE! Cardio equipment is one thing, but weight machines should be cleaned after use. I've complained a few times and no one does anything. It's gross and I've stopped going because of it. The staff just stands around the whole time, no one does a thing! This gym will not work with you if you have any issues. I had been a member since it opened but rarely went because although it's not too crowded during weekdays, if you're planning on going at night or weekend, it's extremely crowded and packed and very difficult to find available equipment. They also don't offer any classes or amenities. When my membership renewed and they charged me a renewal fee, deducted directly from My checking account and without any notification, I immediately went there in the same month as the renewal and asked if they would work with me and cancel my membership and reverse the renewal fee as I hadn't even used the facility in months and they were still getting my monthly membership fee. The manager flat out refused and said "we never reverse fees". Just not a place that cares about the customer. Many better gyms in the area. Just be aware. read more
