I have hired a number of personal trainers in the Danbury CT area over the last 15 years and my experiences have been from disgusted to helpful and good. Some trainers have put me on machines, count reps, while looking at their phone, and telling me to run on a cardio machine for 10 minutes to "warm up" amidst my paid session!....This is not acceptable when I am paying around $60/hr! Other trainers are more engaged, and had me use free weights which are a lot better than machines to burn calories. However, a few of these trainers pushed heavy weights on me which I DID NOT feel comfortable lifting at the risk of getting hurt! I have had a couple good trainers that got me in better cardio condition but I sadly never seemed to lose weight because they didn't talk to to me about my nutrition. I had a 45 minute in depth consultation with the coaches at TFW and then they evaluated by body composition with this fancy machine that even let me know my water weight. Then they explained everything and let me know what I need to improve on, how they can help through both training and especially nutrition and would re-evaluate me monthly to make sure my numbers are going in the right direction and I am happy with my results! I have been coming to TFW 4 days a week for the last 6-1/2 months and I have a training package(without contracts) that has me doing a 1on1 session with the owner Andreas & 3 1-hour group classes with his associate Debra. They both push me & motivate me safely to my potential and I always feel like I got a great workout feeling good and wasn't crushed above my means. The other clients in the groups are really nice, supportive people that I have gotten to know personally and can call them my friends. A great friendly environment where I feel like part of a family. Fit For You is a must add to your workout regime or a great place to get started and take control of your physical wellness. If you strength train, I think a Pilates session once a week is a great addition to your weekly routine. I truly believe that the programs at Fit For You have made my core stronger, as I've seen advancements in my yoga practice, and it has helped me maintain endurance in strength training. It's really the best way I've found to tone and build muscle stamina. The private sessions solo or with 1-2 others on the Pilates Reformers will help you feel your best by working on areas that you want to target. It's a total body program, but you always can say if you want to focus more on upper or lower body. And even though this is a low impact exercise, it doesn't mean you aren't going to work. She'll sneak in some killer motions that you'll feel the next day and she won't put you on a weight that's too easy for you. I like reformer best for core and arms, but if you really want to focus on your lower body, I would mix in some of the barre classes that the studio offers! I partially dislocated my hip in a different exercise program and Alysa helped me slowly regain strength and get back into exercising safely. She is very knowledgeable and trained about movement and offered helpful advice for at-home stretching and modified exercises. It's been about 5 months since I was cleared to fully exercise again and Alysa still checks in with each movement to make sure it's not putting pressure on my hip.

i really like the spin classes here. the only complaint i have is that i had a package of several…read moreclasses that were purchased several years ago. i called to confirm that they still had them on their records and was told that i was good to still use them. then when i went in for a class i was accused of making it up, that i had old classes and that someone had called me back to confirm that. basically the woman at the front desk said it sounded phony and there was a good chance i was lying and trying to get free classes... which is ridiculous, especially since they are like 14 bucks a piece and i'm in college away from home so i would think they would find it very reasonable to have old purchased classes that i never used. i was very offended and they called me the next day saying that they (once again) had record of the classes. I think this is all partly due to their poor record keeping (should be on a computer and easily referenced for customers).. but mostly just rude and poor customer service. but the next time i was in the woman (a different woman) was very very friendly.
