facilities are basic and kind of tight, but for the price is fine. the problem is the billing. i got charge a late fee due to my billing information was wrong. i updated it in the app, and it won't take it, called corporate and they wouldn't do it on the phone. i went to the gym and they weren't able to do it on the site. i will cancel if this does get sorted out. read more

All locations have this issue but I been going to derry nh most lately. They need to enforce the young teens who can't stay off their cellphones, as they are tying up the machines and equipment. Walk away and let the people who are there to exercise and not use the gym as a social club get their workouts in. read more

PLEASE NOTE: The previous Planet Fitness reviews are EXTREMELY old and outdated. This Planet Fitness has had an extreme makeover with new equipment and possibly new management. I just completed my work out at this Planet Fitness on Crystal Avenue in Derry. I had a most enjoyable workout and the ladies behind the counter were MORE THAN HELPFUL, especially Danica and Alyssa. They answered all my questions regarding this club. This health club is doing what it can during this COVID-19 pandemic, requiring members to wear masks while they workout. UNFORTUNATELY I found more than one person working out without a mask. I wore my mask through my entire work out with no problem and I'm almost 60 years old. I've always found this particular Planet Fitness to be the best health club in the area and now it's even better! I hope my review helped you in your decision. This place sucks. Staff has no clue on policies. They're there to sign you up and take your money. They're not knowledgeable at all like other reviews here say. I guess you can say that they're good at advertising and taking your money. They'll charge you even after canceling your membership and won't help to return your money. Eff this place. Well I can't give a real review yet. Place looks clean and front staff seem very nice and helpful when I walked in to inquire about joining. I Told them I tried to join online but I didn't complete registration because I didn't want to give them my Banking information. I asked about other options like using a credit card to pay my monthly payments and yearly joiners fee. They told me no. Then I offered to pay for entire year in cash and they said no to that too. I don't understand. The Zoo, Workout Club and of course the YMCA of Londonderry all offer a credit payment option. I Would really like to join PF if there were more payment options read more

I've been to this location as a black member before and had a great time, then couldn't afford it so had to leave for a while. Glad to see that not much has changed but some of the faces. The equipment is still awesome and well maintained, the staff is still super friendly, and the locker room for ladies is still as clean and inviting as ever. I often go with my new roommate, who also has goals of working out and being healthier. The last person I went with was a total drag; so I'm glad to finally have a fitness partner who wants to go as much as I do. This place is great for beginners and experts, because you never feel like you're being judged. No matter what they want people to be healthy, satisfied, and coming often. I like most of it. There's a lot of machines and they always work. It's a large facility with a lot of workout options. Planet Fitness - Derry is a basic gym located in the Hood Commons. This is not my favorite Planet Fitness location and I agree with the previous reviewer's comments about the backwards layout here. Upon entering the weights and strength training equipment are in the front section of the gym and the cardio machines are located way in the back of the gym with the 12 TVs facing away from the front of the gym and only towards the treadmills and elliptical machines. Also, the Life Fitness treadmills at this gym are the cheaper models, which have very limited controls and functionality compared to the "more user friendly" Life Fitness treadmills at other area PF locations (ie Manchester-Huse, Goffstown, Nashua-Coliseum...). There is no manual mode (you have to input your weight after the treadmill starts) and you cannot pause the treadmills here, unless you just let it run at the slowest speed (workout time is still going). Also the treadmills here definitely need a really good cleaning, more than just the wiping down. There is poor ventilation and no fans (overhead or portable stand fans) near the treadmills making for a very hot and sticky workout. I do my cardio workouts here out of convenience, but the cardio workout conditions here are not favorable. I live slightly closer to the Derry location than the Manchester-Huse location, but my home gym is Manchester-Huse because the equipment there is up to date and that location was also recently renovated. That gym does not have overhead fans over treadmills like at the newer locations, but compensates using two portable stand fans near select treadmills and exercise bicycles for a nice breeze. read more

Ok, so the gym itself offers great advice, lots of machines, and a good workout atmosphere. But God forbid you ever want to cancel. I got a job that offered a workout room and showers at the office, so I could not justify the cost of a gym membership any more (no matter how reasonable). THREE YEARS LATER, after moving out of state, I started receiving invoices from them out of the blue. I have called them, sent them certified letters; everything I can think of. They are STILL sending me invoices, and the charges are going up. NEVER sign up for this gym. You are signing up for life. It's hard to rate a chain gym to be honest but it has most everything that planet fitness usually has. I was def psyched when they got the stair master's because not all planet fitness's have that. Also awesome that it's 24 hours because the one I usually go to isn't because it's privately owned. Anyway the staff is what really stands out to be honest , they seem to actually enjoy their job and each other and always address you or offer to help with anything you need and the flowers from the local flourist is always a nice touch. read more

I signed up for this gym because it's been 4 years since I was in a Planet Fitness and I figured things had changed. I'm telling the story backwards for a reason. I quit my membership halfway through the first year 4 years ago due to immaturity people not realizing that you're using a bench when you have your water and drink Etc at the bench with the dumbbells, there is no gym courtesy or etiquette. So fast forward until now it's a 2017, go to the gym the first week everything is good, here on today on my second week back just to find out that I've had three different times during my workout today we're someone has taken over my machine... and not just use it for one rep I mean take it over to use it for the next 15-20 minutes which ruined my workout cuz I could not complete my reps. Planet Fitness is a gym for beginners at best once I move to a spot with a better gym I will most likely release my membership and then join a more professional environment. I do want to end with saying that the staff is friendly and the people who are serious that work out there also very friendly overall it is a good gym it's just not a professional gym for people who really want to work out hard read more

Well maintained and clean gym. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Need a water bottle fill water fountain. Overhead lights can sometimes be overbearing in brightness. Free pizza nights are awesome! Good cardio equipment for 10 bucks a month. Need free weight bench sets but it seems no planet fitness has them. Mostly all life fitness brand equipment. read more

I have been few planet fitness with my BF. This one in Derry NH is my favorite because the stuffs are all so friendly. Once I lost my locker key, Steve went extra effort to find me. Andrew, Kylie ( K) and all are always say hi when everyone comes in and wish you a good day or good night when people leave. Just so polite and friendly. I'm in a out, without really talking to anyone. Never interacted with the staff other than giving up my member number so can't really say much about them. There is a great deal is people just there doing nothing though. A lot of the people don't like to clean off the equipment after using so thats gross. Bathrooms are generally clean and overall, the alarm does not go off as much. Then again, back to people standing around doing nothing. But if you're just going to get a quick workout in and you don't plan on tanning or going anywhere else, $10 a month is a pretty good deal. read more

I met a technician for the first time in any planet Fitness, Patrick Gillis, Because Ive repaired equipment I surely had an interest in Patrick's work. I approached Patrick and asked him some questions. Patrick was highly professional and approachable. He was working on a treadmill. The biggest problem with a lot of treadmills is dirt gets on the sides of the belt and gets pulled in by belt movement. This dirt acts like sandpaper on a treadmill deck. Patrick and I shared a few treadmill stories and I let him get back to His work. If you are new to fitness, competing in competition, or just want to maintain a Healthy lifestyle, Planet fitness Has everything you need. An ok gym but for this older woman, it is kind of depressing. No one ever talks to you (not even a hi, how are you today) and feels unfriendly but I suppose this is the typical of the prevailing puritan New England unfriendly, cold attitude. I smile and say hi but usually get weird looks like they're wondering if they're supposed to know me? So awkward. The rubbery smell of the flooring is kind of unpleasant. I wish the staff would say something to the people who will hog a machine by sitting on it and engaging their cell phone for long periods of time. I've actually had to leave without doing all my workout because the same people were sitting hogging the machine the whole time I was there. I don't want to engage in argument with other customers and it is not my job to enforce the no cell phone use while hogging a machine rule. Manager and staff were extremely arrogant when I tried to cancel my daughters membership. My daughter had been going to that gym for years and loved it. One Sunday she went in and was asked to leave because she was "distracting the male customers". When I called to talk about the incident the first person I spoke to was extremely argumentative, so I asked to have the manager call me back. He did not. So I called and spoke to another 4 days later. The same attitude. They would not even look into the incident, said she violated dress code and he had the staff's back. She was wearing spandex shorts ( that went down to her thighes!!) and a full t-shirt. Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism. A placating answer that they would look into it and they were sorry would have been all I was looking for. I hope they don't treat all young girls this way. Definitely not a "judgement free zone" where "everyone feels accepted and respected" as stated in their mission statement. read more

The customer service is horrible. I went in very poliet to cancel my memebership due to relocating for Military purposes. The nearest PF to my base is over an hour away and the girl, Kelsey, at the front desk was extremely dumb to anything. When telling her she still told me I had to pay the fee, in which my contract says otherwise, and wouldn't give me her managers name or number, her corporate number etc. Upon getting upset kept telling me she "couldn't" give me her corporate number. Since when does a company not give out their corporate information. She refused to give me her managers information, refused to give me corporate information etc. Didn't know how to cancel and was all around useless and ill informed. Also she allowed an adult male who DID NOT work for PF to get involved into the disagreement and put his hands on my body to try to remove me from the grounds.
