Friday - May 10, 2013 - 11:30AM I hate exercise! I cannot however, deny the health benefits. For $10.00 a month it's hard to resist. The $10.00 a month permits use only of one Planet Fitness of your choosing. I pay $20.00 a month which offers more amenities. A sampling includes: unlimited fitness training, 1/2 price cooler drinks, and unlimited use of massage chairs. Included are unlimited visits to ANY Planet Fitness Center of which I'm most interested. This location offers state of the art equipment and maximum use of limited space. The first floor features various exercise machines and free weights. The upper tier features only exercise machines. I did not attempt to locate elevators. I have arthritis in my right knee, or as mom says.... Arthur-i-tis. Walking the stairway causes discomfort in my right knee but eases quickly as I return to level flooring. Don't bother finding a Planet Fitness sign on Lansdowne Avenue - none exist or at least it's not obvious. If you're traveling EAST on Lansdowne avenue, turn RIGHT at the Casey's Restaurant driveway. Continue driving toward the rear of the parking lot and toward the right. A large building plastered with the emblematic "Planet Fitness" signage becomes visible. First of all, DO NOT purchase the black card! They will most assuredly avoid telling you this, but the black card is a year commitment, and if you decide to cancel, brace yourself for a $58 cancellation fee. So for the tidy sum of $78, I ended up receiving 3 workouts at this awful, overcrowded place. Now you can see how they make their money! You know the saying, if something is too good to be true, it probably is? It could have been written specifically for Planet Fitness. I knew upon signing up that the low price would attract a large membership, but the staff member to whom I spoke assured me that crowds wouldn't be an issue during off-peak hours. He even presented a paper that supposedly broke down the average usage of each hour of each day. According to the document I was handed, there'd be less than 20 people in the whole place in the 10:30 pm time period in which I was expecting to regularly work out. This was only the first of many lies I'd encounter during my brief week's stay as a member of Planet Fitness. Much to my shock, the cramped weight lifting area was crammed with people even at this late hour. Benches were occupied by "lunkheads" who had openly flaunted rules by bringing jugs of water. Between sets, these guys shadow boxed with no regard for others in the vicinity. I observed a number of individuals using multiple pieces of equipment at once; one particularly roided meathead was alternating between 5 different machines, grunting and loudly dropping equipment the whole time. I waited over an hour on three separate occasions to use a bench, but was thwarted each time when those camped upon them refused to move on to other equipment. "I'll just use a bench and Dumbbells," I thought. Not quite that easy, as a guy moved the decline bench within 6 inches of my bench (I was up against the wall) so he could do sit-ups. Another person actually stepped over me in order to access the dumbbell rack. Simply put, there is a reason this place is so cheap. If you're looking to get a cardio workout in and already have a bench and some free weights at home, then yeah the $10 membership might be a decent deal. But if you're planning to base your weight training here (even at midnight) you're in for a rude awakening. You get what you pay for, but Planet Fitness didn't even live up to the $10. read more

Planet Fitness - Seemingly fabricated usage data. - Gyms Near Me - Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania

My locker got broken into not too long ago at this location. Checked in to Planet Fitness in Drexel Hill at roughly 9:30pm. Placed my usual belongings in a locker. As I was stretching, I remembered forgetting my headphones in my car. Went back to the locker to get my keys. As I returned back to my locker, I noticed two individuals right by my locker (6'2, 200+ lbs, one wore glasses). Took a few seconds to process. I originally thought they had placed their things at the locker next to mine. In fact, one person's back was faced toward me, so I really couldn't tell what was really happening. As I approached my locker, they quickly walked past me. I then noticed that the lock I used was broken off. I then yelled at them. I quickly checked my things to make sure everything was there. Thank God that I didn't leave any valuable possessions. Nothing was stolen. By the time I was done, they had ran out. I told an attendant at the front desk what had happened. He took my information. Later, I even spoke to two other attendants at the front desk. I really hope they catch these fools. I mean there are cameras in the place. EVERYONE should be allowed to work out with peace of mind. My tip to everyone: 1. Leave nothing valuable in your locker. Don't leave your wallet, phone, or keys. Just clothes. 2. Do NOT use your common gym lock. I had one with a combination. It was small. Instead use a strong and heavy Master Lock Padlock. read more

This Planet Fitness is not far from my house and on my way home from work There is to many people standing around and sitting on the equipment on their cell phone talking. A lot of young people. when I'm there a lot of the equipment is broken. I'm going to make the drive out to the Planet Fitness in Springfield, PA . So, at this point it's a waste of my money $25.35 a month. So. if I'm a Black Card member what is so special about that? I pay to watch people on their phone. I hope the one in Springfield is better or I will cancel my membership. Sorry I do not have any photos of people just using the gym as a hangout spot. I want to thank the Planet Fitness in Drexel Hill for reaching out to me to contact them, but I'm good. I like the Planet Fitness in Springfield, it is so worth the drive. This Planet Fitness must be under new management. I was going to the Drexel PF before Covid and it was a really nice place, but not any more it's like being at the playground. I will let the children have their playground and I will go and be around adults. To the management at the Drexel Branch walk around the building inside and outside clean up fix your equipment, put up signage letting the children know not to hug the machines and have an area for them to text and sit on their phones. reinforce the rules and regulations. Since I started working full-time the past 6 months, I needed a place to get my workout in around my home town. This place is $10/month with a $60 sign up fee which is fine. I pay $20/month which permits me with a black card so I can bring a guest. I really thought I'd be able to figure out the busy versus calm hours throughout the week because I enjoy working out in peace. I don't like crowded gyms and I hate it when people hog the smith machine. However, the busy hours here are unpredictable (probably because it's summer too). People are always here and it's so hard to get a machine! If people aren't hogging it for too long, there's too many bodies around for you to maneuver your equipment to achieve your desired movement. My major complaint is that they have no major free weights -- it's just dumbells, barbells and a smith machine. There is also no stair master! This is definitely a beginner's gym with the overload of treadmills and ellipticals. Lives up to the Planet Fitness name. A lot of people who go here don't know proper gym etiquette and there's no enforced "limit" as to how long you can hog a smith machine (there's only 4!) I appreciate the location and that it's 24/7 but other than that, not a very great gym. read more

I think the place is kept clean and I enjoy that ... the only problem I have is I can't believe how many women use the restroom and do not use toilet paper and or do not flush..... It's the most disgusting thing in the world it's not the staff's job to go in and flush .. Yuk The last negative thing is that in the summertime the people that work there keep the air conditioning at 70 degrees... which makes it impossible for somebody to exercise at my full potential,... Because I sweat so profusely I'm afraid as perspiration soaks through my shirt .. I could wind up passing out. I usually walk there a mile and a half to two miles so I'm already warm.. So I usually wind up leaving after 20 - 25 minutes I'd like to see that change I don't mean this in a disrespectful way but let's not worry about the comfort of employees standing at the front desk .. while the rest of the place is sweating like bastards at a Baptist barbecue... It's a gym. It's open 24 hours. It's only $10 or $20 a month depending on if you want to tan and use any of their other locations. The bathrooms and locker rooms are usually clean. All the machines work. Use them. Eat right. Burn fat. Build muscle. What more can you ask for from a gym? I've been to many gyms throughout my life. They are all the same. The main difference is the "cult" of people who use them. Some people need to be surrounded by people who are hardcore bodybuilder types. Some people want a less aggressive gym. This falls into that second category. You can get everything you need here. I don't understand some of the negative reviews I have read here. It is the same way everywhere. Not everyone is clean. Some people will not wipe off their machine when they are finished. Some people will drive crazy through the parking lot. Some people will act macho. Some people will smell. Some people will irritate you. Get over it. It's a gym and their are many different personalities you will run into. Mind your business. Planet Fitness is great. I was a member at another location (Malvern) years ago before moving to Los Angeles. Back in PA for the holidays, I wanted a gym to work out at, so I stopped by to see if I could easily re-activate my membership for one month. The guy that I worked with was super helpful and got me up and running in minutes with no activation fees or any other BS. This would NEVER happen at any of the other major gym "chains". PF is exactly how I remember it - clean and spacious with a friendly staff and a refreshing approach to fitness. I wish they'd open some locations in Southern California - I'd join in a heartbeat! read more

Everything is great about this planet fitness. The only thing that I would love is if they had a pool, especially during the summers.

Just came here around 9 o'clock at night to work out. The rooftop unit caught fire and they had to evacuate the building. This place sucks.

So far, it's fine . because its New. weird rule that states, "hats only. for head-ware". no bandannas? must be a blood/crypt thing. cause this is L.A. so we have to ruin hats with sweat, cause,,,? i don't know y. it's great that the old, nasty junk store is gone. dirty hoarders, tried to stop it. they obviously didn't want to move all the junk. probably got sick touching their junk. too stupid to have a $1 sale. so they moved their junk to other stores. where it can rot forever. away from normal folk,like us. all that junk is gone. thank you, Planet Fitness. read more

Planet Fitness in Drexel Hill. In my experience, it has always been clean, or being cleaned when I'm there. if you are able to go earlier in the day, it's less busy. Night time is usually crowded. I have never had a problem and would recommend this location. I have been a member since they opened and never have i had a bad experience. I have been to many other gym's and I would say this has been the most cleanest and friendliest out of all of them. I come in a few times a week and have had a great workout plan that was created for me through the wonderful fitness instructor there. I am one who judges bathroom's I feel that is the answer to it all, if they are kept clean then you know your pretty much guaranteed the entire environment to be spotless. The staff is just all around great always greeting you when you come in and always wishing you a good day when leaving. Now to those who rated this gym with 3 stars and below Im sure only attend the gym once if not at all and just have nothing better to do with your life and probably A) broke the rules, or B) don't like to have any structure in your lifestyle. This is not to be a site to satisfy your life by posting false reviews. If there was ever a problem I would walk my ass up to the front desk and mention what it was and every time an employee or manager would be right on top of the situation. For instance I lost my iPod once before being careless and I went up the one of the staff members and explained myself and they suggested the "find my iPhone" and had them sound my alarm. I feel if they were such a bad gym then they wouldn't have gave to flying rats asses and told me its your problem good luck finding it yourself. read more
