Amazing location ! I was originally a member at a location in Brooklyn by my home and I cancelled it because the customer service was mediocre and I constantly had to hear conversations about the employees weekend before I could pay for a water to check in. With that being said, when I went to this location after moving to Jersey I was reluctant to sign up again. I signed up anyway because I planned on going in frequently and the front desk was pleasant. I have been a member for over a year and the front desk is always pleasant, gym is sanitized regularly by the staff. I had an issue with my membership and I walked in and was helped swiftly. An associate named Rico was thorough and patient when helping me fix my membership. I will stay a member with PF just because of this location !!!! read more

I went into the gym this morning as I do everyday. And the front desk person Anaya always gives me an attitude anytime she sees me. She rolls her eyes sucks her teeth if I even come up to the desk to ask for a cushion. I lost my wallet over the weekend and my phone broke Friday. So I made a new account. She came to me a said I owed 218.00 when I asked to see the screen she refused to show me. The threw me out the gym and said racist comments She needs to be terminated this is disgusting treatment and completely inappropriate to treat members. I am nice to all gym staff a some I personally know. I will be pursuing a lawyer for discrimination she does not know my name or even my last name. She picked on me out of pure spite. I will be going to corporate a district about this! Update went in today on Sunday to work out. She was still working there and I will no longer go in to check in when she is there. I guess this establishment allows racism and rudeness towards clients. If she is not terminated I will be filing a lawsuit against planet fitness for discrimination. read more

By far one of the worst gyms I've been too by connivence of it's location but will not be coming back. The staff is always gots an attitude never acknowledges you when you come to enter and act like you should know where to scan in while they play on the phone. This is also in a dark and sketchy area. I was at this gym today, while in the Yellow Room customers were working out with weights near the machine I was on. It felt very uncomfortable, I was afraid of getter hit with one of the weights they were using permitting me from completing my workout. I think this is a dangerous situation and more enforcement of the rules need to be implemented. No weights should be used outside of the designated areas. Small! I was told by staff that I couldn't workout with my.backpack which I was wearing on my back just to walking the treadmill. I needed to have the backpack while in the treadmill to.simulate my.outside walks and strengthen my back. I WAS told by staff that I couldn't so.I left the gym.and never went back. The worst place to go to workout. It is not safe to leave your bag on the lockers in the rooms because this poor people always looking for steal it. Every single new day there is another machine out of service in this place, and it can stay like that for one month. read more

Today for the second time I was approached by a Planet Fitness employee being told I need to cover my stomach and I can not wear a sports bra. The first time this occurred; roughly 2 weeks ago I was approached by the cleaning lady so when I went to the front desk to speak to a member rep I was told not to listen to her, that's not policy and even confirmed she was in the day prior working out in a sports bra and as long as I'm not coming in exposed I'm fine. With that said I went on my Mary way. Tonight, October 14th around 7:30pm I went in to workout and when I approached the front desk to ask for a mat; mind you towards the end of my workout which means I've been in the gym for 30 plus min already, I was approached by the manager and was told once again I need to cover my stomach. I asked him to show me the policy which he directed me to a plaque in the gym which said nothing about not being able to wear a sports bra or having to have my stomach covered. When I made this aware he informed me there is a plaque in the woman bathroom as well but of course when I made my way over there was no plaque, he convenient informed me it must of been taken down. Let me mentioned here I took a photo in front of the wall last week where such plaque was suppose to be hanging and once I reviewed my photos there was no plaque. I told him I wanted mine and my fiancé membership cancelled with no penalty fee which he took care of but before I left and asked for his name he provided me with a copy of my signed agreement where he proceeded to highlight "Rules and Regulation" and "dress code" so I did a little reading. "Rules and Regulations as per PF club @ Newark Ave, Elizabeth NJ location " club rules vary by locations and all signs posted in a club or on the premise and any verbal communication from PF shall be considered a part of club rules. " "Dress code" "PF management and staff may enforce and you agree too to abide by a dress in all areas of the club. Clothing that maybe perceived as intimidating, revealing or offensive, as well as clothing that may present a safety hazard or damage equipment is not allowed" So I asked the manager which one did he consider having my stomach showing since it's "policy" to cover it - intimidating, revealing, or offensive? response, "I'm not saying that, I'm just stating this is what you signed off on. Let's keep in mind I signed up and worked out the same exact day in a sports bra and every attendance since I've warn a sport bra scanning into the facility and never once was I told by a member rep it was against dress code. So I did some more reading and I found out Gregory Laughlin is the owner of this facility. Mr. Laughlin can you show me where anywhere in your facility it is posted or on your website where it states a woman has to have her stomach covered and is not allowed to workout in a sports bra? I've belonged to 5 different gyms and attended multiple others so contrary to my size I am not new to the gym game and never once have I've been told at a gym I can not workout in sport bra nor my stomach can be exposed. PS. I'm confident in my body as a thicker woman because in the last 5 years I've worked my ass off going from 250lbs - 175lbs; I recently signed up at PF for its convenience since I had a baby 4 months ago and I was starting to get back into my fitness routine, but for a "judgment free zone" you pull this on someone who is self conscious and is trying to get out of their comfort zone and embrace their body it can be detrimental. In addition are booty workout shorts allowed because I see smaller woman wearing them all the time and I don't see them being spoken to? The gym doesn't really have much to offer for a real workout. It's only ok for cardio and women. The one I go to is usually packed so to reduce the hours and forcing people to go in in a smaller window of time makes it MORE likely you can contract the CHINA VIRUS. Who was the genius (Sarcasm) that thought of that idea?! The ONLY reason I joined was because of it being open 24 hours. Anyone thinking of joining, DON'T. I've been going to this location for close to 2 years up to today. Very clean, well serviced equipment, staff over all very helpful [so why such a low star rating?]. On 1/17/19 around 5am I accidentally locked myself out of my locker. I asked the young lady [anna] at front desk to assist me cutting the lock and she without hesitation said **NO** an that she is the only one there and cannot enter the mens locker room so I would have to wait until 8a.m. (around 3hrs) to be helped. Now for a 24hr gym in order to get a lock cut thats seems ridiculous. She was very sassy in her tone as if she knew she was in her right and refused to even attempt to provide me with any more customer's services than she already was. So as I waited I then saw a guy in the office. Mind you I've seen this guy around the gym early mornings working out so I had no idea he was the store managers. He never said hello or interacts with other members. So I asked her [anna] if he could do it he out loud says "I'm not on the clock". So after I actually get the lock cut its obvious customer service was not priority to me a 5year member of PLANET FITNESS. I've always sensed a slight hint of racism in the way they react and respond to other bilingual people that go to the gym. They ended up writing that I was a rude member in the computer that now shows up everytime I swipe in to enter a planet fitness gym. I did not curse or raise my voice yet now this is how they brand me as a member. If your not bilingual....stay away!!! read more

This place is awful. The cable equipment is unusable because they have no clips. They never replace them. Half the gym is unusable. When we complain they do nothing about it. The mens bathroom is awful. Always out of toilet paper also. They just don't care for the place sadly. It use to be so much better. Don't let them tell you it's COVID, it's not. Has nothing to do with lack of staff. It's lack of caring. read more

Worst planet fitness EVER. I called 500 times to cancel, as i have moved away. To then be told i have to come in person or send a letter to cancel. I have since sent the letter and i receive. Phone call today at 11:43amCST from a NASTY RUDE manager woman named Rushell, who said she will not honor my letter and infact will keep charging me because i have a balance.... She also indicated she KNEW i called my bank to stop the charges, and ADMITTED she kept charging, and infact threw in some additional fees in there. I realized she was too confident saying these crazy things so i decided to go over the contract and there it was. Even though she had my letter In her HAND, she failed to remind me the letter needed to be certified. Why? So they could make money off of your debt. Stay away from planet fitness the hoops and depressing atittudes you need to come across to close a membership are not worth it. The letter situation can be looked over on a (shameful by the way) " technicality" basis; Because of that miserable manager i will never consider planet fitness ever again. I'm sure this location is no different than other planet fitnesses, but this place is HORRIBLE! What place calls itself a gym, yet does not have a single open bench rack or squat rack. You are limited to Smith Machines and other form of machine lifts only.. not to mention they don't have a single dumbbell over 75lbs!!! What a joke. Oh, I can't forget about the hours.. 12-12.. really?? Their even too lazy to get up at 6am to cater to the early bird lifters... bottom line, planet fitness is a complete joke if your someone that is serious about your fitness. This gym is really nice and has a lot of cardio machines, great low membership fee, and the environment is great for getting your workout in. My only complaint is that they don't have a standard barbell bench press, you're forced to use the smith machine. Other than that though, the place is super clean and I'm happy I joined. read more

Nice gym. New equipment. Bosu balls which i havent seen at PFs before. 360 machine which is great for trx ciurcut type workouts. Nice staff. Very helpful with my transfer from an out of state gym. Large locker room. Clean showers. All around nice facility. read more

This location is great! Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Nice and clean and there are plenty of whatever machine you are looking for. I love the massage beds, great addition to any workout. Women's locker room was clean and well kept. As a matter of fact there was an attendant cleaning as I was there. Plenty of paper towels and cleaning solution to wipe down the machines when your done. I know it's new but I hope they keep up the good work. read more

So I've been going here since feb22 for about 4-5 days a week. I must say I'm so pleased with the staff. Robinson, Jeremy and the manager are so so friendly, they all are but I can't remember their names.. I take classes 4 days a week with daryll and he really takes passion in what he does. Not only is he professional at all times but he's nice and he gets results!! I lost about 15 pounds since I've been with him and I'm so happy I'm going to continue my journey with him!! read more

So sad. Lets begin with the staff you meet once you come in. I went in to sign up..... no one at the counter for 4 minutes then a young lady who looked upset came by and said just scan your card there, I said no I'm signing up... she let out a sigh and says someone will be right with you and leaves.... okay..... another 4 minutes pass by and now there is a line of people. Another lady came up sweaty with a gallon of some sort of drink.... she too looked annoyed... none the less I'm there to work out not socialize so I try my hardest to look past the annoyed expressions I'm getting. I tell her I'm there to sign up she tells me and I'm not kidding ...."ugh well I need your routing number and checking account you have that?".....hhhmm...is there a polite and professional way to say that to someone who is about to start giving you money? Now I'm feeling uneasy giving this person my personal information she then says I have to take these people could you go over there and points to a table near by ....again please and thank you go a long way. Its called manners and they open doors everywhere. She moves the line of people who want to check in and then goes to me ok I need your id phone number and email and she waves a post it note at me so I get up and walk to her she then says oh and its going to be 30(something don't remember the exact amount my blood started to boil by this point) so I said well your ads say $10 to sign up and..... she cuts me off and says in a very stern tone.... not this location!....... she was right.... definitely not this location not this gym no way I should give my hard earned money even if it is $10 a month to people who obviously are annoyed by my very presence. read more

This gym's customer service is the worst, PERIOD! My locker was broken into, so I go to complain at the front desk, they followed me to the changing room to confirm my story, then proceed to leave, so i asked who the manager was, apparently it was the lady that came to the changing room with me, so I proceed again to the front desk to continue my complain, when I got there, she was already attending to another customer, so i tell her to please do something about my situation, she just bluntly tells me I am being rude! I was shocked! I was upset, but proceed to remind her that my situation was ongoing before the customer came in, but she only managed to convince the customer that "You are being cheated" by the look she gave her. I suggested that she can let other staff members handle the customer, She proceeds telling me I'm too old for the display of emotions i was showing, from my key cars, wallet, house keys, credit cards, money being stolen. She tells me if I am not satisfied, with their service, to go out of the building to call the cops, which I eventually did. After all this, it wasn't surprising to me as I waited for the cops to show up, that every customer that met me had something negative to say about this so-called manager, a customer was so disgusted, she gave me a personal phone number to someone at the corporate because she had to get to them about an incident she had with this so-called manager. Was a member of this PF for over a year. Overall my experience was good. They keep this place pretty clean and the attendants are always helpful and greet you as you walk in. Staff are pretty cool here. Plenty of machines and I found not many issues with broken machines or dirty machines. Someone is always walking around cleaning. I was a black card member so I took full advantage of massage area. Massage area has a few machines but after going to another location in another state I realized how basic this massage section is compared to what is out there. Now for the interesting items, time of day is everything with this location. If you go during the day not so busy after rush hour on weekdays forget it this place can get packed. Weekends are surprisingly empty so that s a good time to go. Also during fall/winter of 2016 there was a series of cars that were vandalized in the parking lot right in front of the location. Cars were parked in planet fitness spaces as members worked out and some miscreant decided to break windows and burglarized some cars. That turned me off from going to the gym for months. Overall the area is pretty safe but always be aware it is still Elizabeth! read more
