I've been going to PF Natick for about 3 years but based on the recommendation of a friend, I tried the Franklin location yesterday. It's about 10 minutes farther but it's worth it; I was totally impressed with this facility and plan to visit more often. It's night and day compared with Natick. The first thing I noticed was that it was bright and welcoming and the staff was very attentive. Maybe it was just a coincidence but it seemed like the staff was really trying to keep things clean and tidy. I saw people attending to the machines and one staff member was cleaning the showers in the locker room. Someone told me they went through a major renovation recently and it certainly shows. Everything is new. The machines, the locker room, the spa. Speaking of the spa, I was like a kid in a candy store! I tried a massage chair and the cryovac machine which was incredible. Like a lounge chair that combines a heating pad and an ice pack that you can apply to different parts of your body. eg, hot on your neck, cold on your lower back and vice versa. One major difference is that this location is much smaller than PF Natick which I happened to like. You didn't have to walk far to move from one machine to the other. I have been a member here for years. I took a long hiatus during the pandemic only to come back and lots of the machines are broken. Lat pull down, tons of treadmills, all out of service signs on them. Today I went to shower after my workout and the water was ice cold the entire shower. It never warmed up even a little bit! Then I was drying my hair and a woman stopped to ask me if there was any hot water for a shower. Told her no and she replied with "there has been no hot water for 3 weeks and people are leaving because of it!" A good amount of people come here in the morning, get their work out in and then shower and proceed to go to work or wherever they may be going for the rest of the day. It's too bad because they increase the membership fees, don't take care of the gym equipment, and clearly don't take care of providing hot showers for their paying customers!! Spoke with an employee on the way out about the hot water and he said someone will be there at about 9am this morning. We shall see... not holding my breath. read more

Planet Fitness - New Year's Eve / New Year's Day hours - Gyms Near Me - Franklin, Massachusetts

My review is based on the lack of customer service, accountability, or urgency to make a wrong right. I approached staff on July 3rd about a payment issue and was told that the staff at my home gym did not have the authority to restore the payment plan that was promised to me. However, someone would call me back. I did not get a call back, so I followed up five days later. After connecting with the manager and hearing that she too unfortunately could not rectify the situation, she reached out to her boss and was waiting for a follow up from him. Over the next few weeks I periodically contacted PF since they were not following up as they had promised. Additionally, I tried without success to find a number online of someone higher up that could help and I also sought help via the PF app. I never received a response to this inquiry either. After a month of seeking help and wondering why such a simple situation was still not taken care of, the manager at my home gym said I would have to call corporate for help because there was nothing she could do. I immediately contacted the number she gave me, but found that it led to a series of voice message choices which all ended in "contact your home gym for help." When I shared this with the manager, she finally texted her superior and asked him to contact me. I was assured that "John" would call me within a day if he did not call me that evening. It's been a week and unfortunately I am not surprised that I never received this phone call. The message that no one at PF at the higher levels wants to deal with customer service is loud and clear. I feel that they are trying to "run me down" until I am tired of seeking to resolve this error and will just pay the higher price. I have been with PF for years and generally found the staff to be kind and helpful, the building and machines clean, and perfect for my needs. I am happy to extend grace to PF if an employee made a mistake, but at this point, the lack of accountability and effort to make things right is not okay, and very disappointing. read more

After being a member of Planet Fitness for more than 10 years they continued to take money out of my account two months after I moved away despite my cancelling my membership. I have gotten the round around from the managers who refused to let me talk to someone in authority. As a past Director of Operations I would be horrified to know if one of my General Managers refused to escalate an issue with a guest. The place is dirty, the bathrooms are disgusting, and equipment is always broken and they know nothing about customer service. Run away from this gym and company! Mark A. read more

I'm a bit conflicted with this planet fitness because it is really well kept, it's clean, and the staff has been very nice, but at the same time, it's uncomfortably small. All of the machines are super close together, which makes it pretty difficult to navigate around the gym. It always feels like you're squeezing through machines to get to wherever you want to be or that you're constantly in someone's way. I also had a quite a few times when the showers in the locker room were full after a workout because there's only four of them. Even when there aren't that many people in the gym, it still always feels crowded. Otherwise, it's a very well maintained gym, which is awesome. So I guess I have to just go with a 3 star rating, just right down the middle of the road. It's a good gym, just way too small. read more

Incredibly disappointed with the business/customer service standards. I recently moved 5 hours away, but return to Franklin frequently for business, so I called to upgrade to the black card, in order to work out in both locations. They told me there is no way to upgrade or cancel over the phone OR online!!! I know this is not Franklin's fault, I'm sure it's corporate policy, but seriously??? It's 2016- how ridiculous is this?!? You literally have to go in in person to upgrade (did I mention I live 5 hours away), and go in in person or send a letter to cancel. Absolutely effing ridiculous. I wanted to give you guys MORE MONEY to upgrade- maybe don't make it so complicated. I have been going to this recently renovated Planet Fitness and I absolutely love it. I'm a student on a budget and no other gym has been able to offer a $10 a month membership. I'm partially a cardio type of gym-goer and there are tons of treadmills and ellipticals all around. I have never had to wait for one to open up. There's always one available. Everything always looks very clean and the staff all seem very friendly and willing to help you out. They always greet you as you come in and say goodbye to you when you leave. I love that. It makes me feel like they care. There are spray bottle stations all around, which I hope encourages people to clean their machines after use. The stations are easy to spot. I love the women's locker room, always squeaky clean and spotless. It's been updated so the lockers are really nice. I use them every time I go. The connected bathroom is always super clean and smells good. The other thing I like about this gym is that I feel welcome here, not like people are looking at me and judging me, which I have felt at more expensive gyms that I've belonged to. Everyone here is just here to work out a get healthy! I'm taking away 1 star because this gym is always SUPER packed and if it wasn't for the copious amounts of cardio equipment, you would be waiting forever. I also use free weights, barbell/bench press and pully machines and have to wait to use a few things every time, which prolongs my workout. I kind of feel like I'm being thrown to the wolves and have to fight for my meal sometimes when I get there. This is the only thing I don't like at this gym. Nothing the staff can do about it as it's not the gym's fault. Some reviewers negatively mentioned the candy, pizza and bagels like it's given away daily. Unfortunately due to COVID19, Planet Fitness @ 166 Grove St. Franklin MA had to temporarily shut down via government mandate by the CDC. I choose to cancel my account, due to taking care of an elderly relative, and on the same day, August 3, 2020 I was charged the annual fee for the coming year. My heart goes out to business that have suffered from the shut down but I do not understand why cancelling an account and literally seeing the payment for the annual fee on the very same day can not be waivered. I wish the fitness center well in the future but please be fair to you clients, past, future and present. Faireness goes a long way as does word of mouth. I will no longer recommend Planet Fitness to friends and family. read more

Had to switch to this location because of a recent move and they made switching easy and painless. Friendly staff, clean and new facility. I go at a time where it isn't busy so I can't comment on peak hours. Locker rooms are kept up and there's always a staff member hard at work either cleaning machines, restocking the locker room or having friendly conversations with members. Im just going to start off by saying I've been at this location for 9 years and 3 different owner ships including Planet Fitness. I much prefer World Gym (the previous ownership) to Planet Fitness. In terms of friendliness of staff, cleanliness of the facility and price, I give planet fitness a 5/5. Staff is very friendly, they regularly clean the equipment and locker rooms with other gym goers being courteous and wiping down equipment when they're done using them as well. In terms of actual equipment and services, I give planet fitness a 2/5. I am very disappointed in terms of actual equipment available to use for training. Yes you have your weight lifting machines and free weight section but there's a TON of things missing that I feel every gym should have. There are no dumbbells heavier than 75lbs which may not be an issue for some but is necessary for others. There are no swiss balls if you wish to do stability work, no jump ropes, boxes/stands, squat racks, free barbells, resistance bands (all of which were available to use when world gym had ownership) extremely disappointing On top of all this they offer free pizza and bagels once a month with a jar of tootsie rolls on the front desk everyday, all in the name of member appreciation. Affordable gym with heavy things to lift and then put back down. Like all such facilities, you get what you put into it. Staff is friendly and helpful. Two out of three water fountains are in disrepair. Shower room needs a serious cleaning and upgrade. To be honest I joined for the price. They have a decent amount of basic treadmills but seem to lack variety in lifting equipment. I understand the common theme among most, if not all, locations- no squat racks, no bench press areas, strictly slanted smith machines. If you're looking for a challenge and are not a beginner this place gets very boring after about 20 minutes. Good gym, weird kind of hidden location. Very spacious, well lit, and mostly clean. There is also free wifi. There are a lot of separate rooms for stretching and working out if you are shy and there is good space between stations. Locker rooms are clean but not all lockers can lock. Showers are a bonus because each one is an individual locked room. Populated by a diverse group of people so you won't necessarily feel out of place. Staff is helpful but can be inattentive at times. Some machines need to be updated/fixed but lately they have been upgrading machinery and technology. read more

I've belonged to several gyms in my day....Boston Sports Club, Gold's, a locally owned gym, and now Planet Fitness. This is by far the most affordable gym I've ever joined ...you can't beat $10 a month. The deal was so good, I signed up site unseen. I signed up online, and didn't have to deal with any membership representative types, which was nice. This gym doesn't have fancy locker rooms (although they do have them, and they are adequate), a selection of the latest magazines, individual TVs on the cardio machines, or even classes (which was okay with me, because I don't think I've ever once done a class at all the gyms I've joined) but it is big, bright, clean, and has tons of equipment that is in working order. I think I counted 20-25 treadmills and 20-25 eliptical/arc trainers. There are also two sets of all the weight machines. There is a separate ab and stretching room and some sort of a 30 minute circuit set up in an area separate from all of the other machines. They do have about ten TVs in front of the cardio area featuring five different channels that you can tune into with your ear buds via a little box on your machine. There are also tons of spray bottles and paper towels around for cleaning machines and everyone here appears to use them, which is great. read more

I love Planet Fitness! I work a 9-5 job where I am moderately active at best, so I love stopping by a few nights a week with the rest of the after-work crowd (however I have also gone in the daytime on days off and the crowd is more 60+ and teens, which I think is great). The staff is always friendly and welcoming, I always see them assisting people at the desk or cleaning equiptment/locker rooms. PF is the perfect place to stay fit on a budget, and I love the whole "Judgement Free Zone" thing. I love that they are catered to a more "average Joe" demographic vs. bodybuilder types (cue Lunk alarm). If you are looking for an inexpensive gym with a lot of cardio and weight machines where you can work at your own pace, this is the place for you. However I do agree with the other comment about the pizza/bagels/tootsie rolls, though I think that's more of an issue with the company itself rather than this specific location. read more
