The good- The staff was really friendly. The gym was really nice. Plenty of parking. That's the reason for the 2 stars and not 1. The bad- You can't sign up in person. it must be done online. You MUST give them your bank info, No, not your debit card or credit card. Your actual routing and account number. You can't pay month to month nor for a whole year. It's like a subscription to Columbia House Records back in the day. There is no way you're going to cancel the membership without them getting at least 6 more months of dues out of you. The message said they were experiencing a high volume of phone calls, even though there was not one customer at the desk or on the phone. Same thing happened when I first arrived. Great facility and nice staff! Only complaint is the members who don't wipe down machines after use and the members who use the circuit room as their personal workout so stay on equipment longer. The goal of the circuit is to follow in order so this messes up others work outs! read more

Have had my membership for a year and haven't used it, went into this location yesterday attempting to cancel my membership due to lack of use, and was told by DAYLEN at the front desk that because of my balance I was not allowed to cancel. I told him I would call corporate and he LAUGHED and told me that was "impossible". I called corporate today and was told I AM in fact allowed to cancel without paying my balance, and he was wrong in telling me I couldn't. He was not new, and should know proper protocol when it comes to cancellations. So don't let them trick you into being billed endlessly as that's not the case. So I barely passed my 30 year Evaluation (Anniversary) a couple months ago. My wife made it clear that, even though she was rooting for me, it could easily have gone south in a hurry. She drew reference to my elevated cholesterol, blood pressure, and new family of chins (I have a nice double, working on a triple). She also said something about being twice the man she married- and it wasn't necessarily a good thing. I was encouraged to join the local Planet Fitness and find my passion. Upon entering, I was met by two things: Purple and Bev. The purple was a little distracting at first- purple equates to grapes, which equates to fruit, which equates to apples, which equates to fritters, which equates to Dunkin' Donuts. My stomach started making noises as Bev asked if she could help me. Bev is absolutely great- she gave me a tour of the facility (and didn't judge when I needed to sit down and catch my breath near the ellipticals). She was very thorough- explaining each torturous machine and how much better I'd feel down the road. Needless to say, I signed up (black card- so I can watch the game from a massage chair) and committed to mold myself into a hunk of lean steely-eyed man. Equipment. Machines are new and all work. This is the #1 reason people go to a gym instead of working out at home. What separates Planet Fitness from other gym chains is customer experience. Low pressure to sign up on my trial was a HUGE reason I enrolled myself (and my wife), and the staff is always friendly and helpful.Exceptional cleanliness at this location as well. This is a great gym! Everything is clean and well-maintained. Most importantly, the staff make the difference. Gaby, Eric and Daylen are the type of staff everyone would love to have on their team. They go beyond the company mottos and exemplify the intent behind them. Learning guest names and greeting by sight, being great listeners to better assist, being personable and engaged, making all feel welcome. All under the coaching and guidance of Bev. Today I went to Planet Fitness to discontinue my membership as we are moving out of state. Two months ago I went into this facility to inquire about the process and was told that I should do so before the 18th of the month or else I'd get charged a month. Today is the 13th of February. I was told that due to the 18th of the month billing cycle I have already been charged for the month as of the 10th. Shannon who was behind the counter said there isn't anything that can be done and that I am "Stuck" paying for a full month. I kindly asked her to make a phone call and reverse the charge as I was following the directions as given by her associate. Rather than listen her response was "what do you want to do?" with a condescending tone. My response is that I did not want to pay for the miss representation provided by one of her fellow associates and that good customer service warrants making an effort. This is not about the $10 it is about the principle of doing the right thing. Firstly with the pandemic I have not gone to their gym for over 12 months and have been paying my monthly without a complaint because I signed an agreement and stand by that commitment. What bothers me is that there was no effort on the part of Shannon or the other two associates there today. Planet Fitness like most national gyms survives on their contracts and that is why they deduct from one's checking account, what is not correct that because of their chosen billing mechanism is that a customer prior to the 18th should be charged as long as they get out of their contract prior to that date. It is just wrong and the demeanor of Shannon and the others was wrong. Too bad because the 2 months in 2019 I used the gym it was a good facility. I would strongly discourage anyone signing on to Planet Fitness, they showed no flexibility and I will not be a future customer. I would suggest the same of anyone who does not want to get treated like a number in their billing system. I purchased a pre-paid 1 year membership 1/25/2020 Of course then the virus hit and they actually closed 3/17/2020 .. Not sure when they re-opened but being in the high risk group I did not get to use the facility for over a year. I was never given even an email notification when they opened again but going was simply out of the question. Now, since I have been vaccinated I wanted to continue going there BUT according to the girl I spoke to on the phone today, they will only refund or credit about 2 months since that is when they were fully shuttered. Being a senior and high risk I could not have used the facility with gloves and a mask on during pandemic , even if they allowed it. Well, it seems to me that they have over 10 months worth of fully paid membership which I did not get to use due to pandemic and I think it is fair that they credit me because I did not get to use their facility. If they do come through with a reasonable settlement then I will amend this negative review but I am not a fan of paying for services which I reasonably could not use and they should have been more considerate before they stated that they would not NOT give me a full credit for the membership which I paid for and could not use.
