This is a solid Planet Fitness. Plenty of machines, the gym stays clean, and the staff is generally friendly. The treadmills and ellipticals are in good shape, and there's enough resistance-training equipment to get a full workout in. Being open 24/7 is a major plus. I get that no gym is perfect and equipment breaks sometimes, but they really need to move faster when the StairMaster goes down. It feels like that repair always takes longer than it should. I have to say the staff do their best so far that I have seen to keep the place clean (I give them a 4 out of 5). However, this review is not about the staff it's about certain CUSTOMERS who are complete slobs! The staff is NOT your personal maid! Pick up your trash when you use it to clean the machine! Stop leaving your dirty tissue all over the place. It takes very little time to walk over to the trash can and dispose of it. Also the ladies taking shower and leaving the bathroom area drenched in water where someone can serious hurt themselves from a slip and fall. Come on people do better! If you don't know Planet Fitness by now you have been living under a rock for 10 years. This is the most basic gym: cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, circuit training area, and bathroom. All of your basics are covered in PF. For this review, I will focus on this location. This location is convenient to get to with lots of parking. Staff: The staff are reasonably helpful, and helped me sign up for a membership. It is very clean, they do a great job at keeping the bathroom and gym area is spotless. Crowds: OMG! This place is like a nightclub from 6 pm to 9 pm. It is WAY too crowded, I would avoid going to the gym at this time. You will be waiting for weights, waiting for machines and no corner to yourself without having a butt in your face. It really is more of a social scene than a gym during that time. A lot of groups chatting and on their phones. Overall: If you are looking for a basic clean gym this is your spot. I have been going here for the past year and it's been faily good . The staff are friendly , the trainer Carlos is very helpful and give great workouts . His words "this does not make sense bc students get a summer special and my staff should not be taking any financial information on a minor...Anyway she got charged and annual fee although they said no contract month to month basis. He said he will refund annual fee ( which shouldn't be questionable) then he tried to lecture me that he could not return the September payment although my daughter attempted to cancel ON Aug 19. He said that the person with the membership needed to cancel in person before September but obviously she is 5 hours away. I feel like my daughter was taken advantage as a minor. I just called now to get proof of any document showing she gave permission to charge her account that's a high school account, so any Financial agreement has to go through the main account holder (me ,the adult) i was not there to authorize this...that's the main account holder . They breached code of security and made fraudulent and unauthorized charges..so i called to get a copy of what ever gives them the right to steal my daughters account number and money by charging fraudulent and authorized charges.He refused to provide "Freddy" said have a good night and hung up on me. I want any documents stating they were authorized to charge my daughter HS account without a parent present. Isn't that the whole point of summer special? Why would they ask for such personal financial information if no minor had to do that?? No one is being held accountable and I keep getting brushed off. Brand New Location Apparently Grand Opening Week or Weekend I was invited as Guest by my lady friend. I was never attracted to this gym for whatever reason but was pleasantly surprised by the set-up, cleanliness and size. Set-up: Good format, easy to find machine and staff for questions. Cleanliness: Very clean, SO clean thy someone can over and asked the woman next to me to give them space to "dust" the sign that was behind her (very very odd) Size: it was big enough to hold like 100 ppl or something in that range for the area I thought that was great. Unfortunately an attendant (I think her name was Amy) was VERY unhelpful in the end when we wanted to use the massage chairs. She kept mixing up the massage chair numbers and started the massage b4 I entered and told me there was no way to start over so I can put my legs in the leg massage part. Then when my friend asKed to switch it to her main gym the same attendant told her she had to go online BUT we asked the next attendant who got on the phone and did it right away. If I could give the Lawrence planet fitness location 0 stars I would. I just left planet fitness after 20 mins of being extremely frustrated and upset with the front desk associate. I came in today, 5/27/21 at 8:43pm hoping to get a nice workout before the holiday weekend. I scanned in and then politely asked the front desk associate, William Perry (if this is even his real name, not wearing A name tag), if I needed to wear a mask or not if I was vaccinated. He then responded by telling me, in order for me to not wear a mask, I need to show his proof of my vaccination. unfortunately I did not have my physical card on me. Thus, I asked him if a photo of it would suffice. He said yes. I then reconfirmed this, and asked, "I can't work out at all until I get my card?" he replied "yes." So I walked away to go to the bathroom with my mask on, and called my sister to send me a picture of my card. After 16 minutes of frustration because of the lack of service in the gym, I finally got the photo. I then went back to the front desk and showed my card. This time, a new front desk associate, a women was there. I gladly showed her my picture of my vaccine card to which she then replied, "you don't need that, you can just workout without your mask." I then got super confused and told her exactly what William Perry told me, she then said, "who said that? Show me" I then showed her William and he then LIED and told me, he was just "playing." He was just "joking around." to which I was beyond frustrated with at this point. long story short, I didn't even get to workout BC of the frustration and I am cancelling my membership asap tomorrow once I calm down. OBNOXIOUS AND RUDE STAFF. Horrible communication skills. One star is too much for this location. In August 2021, I asked for a refund of charges and requested to cancel my membership. Refund was refused and billing stopped. Billing resumed in December, I noticed it on my statement in February. I called the club and I was told I had to speak with a manager. This is by far the best gym I have been to in the last 5 years. It is always clean, the front desk staff Tiffany and Ivan are always welcoming everyone with a smile. Machines rarely out if order. my workout buddy and good friend had a horrible customer experience at this location yesterday and I'm disgusted and disappointed about how she was treated. A white Front desk girl named Hannah spoke rudely and in a condescending tone to my friend who is an African American woman. when my friend addressed Hannah's rude and unacceptable behavior, a random white lady appeared out of nowhere and accosted my friend and inserted herself into a conversation that had nothing to do with her telling her that "she was wrong" for addressing Hannah's behavior. I guess because Hannah is white too, it was an issue that a black woman stood up for herself and addressed a situation that made her feel disrespected and uncomfortable. My friend is a well respected woman of the community of Hewlett, Lawrence and Rockaway Park. Two other staff members stood there and watched as this white woman felt entitled and bold enough to engage in a heated conversation with someone who was already having a bad customer experience. What if this woman assaulted my friend? Not one staff member stepped in to protect my friend from this person and that says a lot about the integrity of this company. Two white women berating an African American woman publicly and this was acceptable?? NO WAY!! My friend called me crying later that evening after she spoke to Club Manager Samantha who told my friend that even though the camera footage was reviewed & confirmed that a white lady accosted her and made her feel unsafe, and after all of the details my friend shared with her about a previous encounter she's had with Hannah a week before, she decided to cancel my friends gym membership and allow the other member to still use the gym. She never apologized for anything and basically approved of Hannah's unprofessional behavior. The entire situation was brushed off and my friend was left feeling like a victim of bold racism. I will never step foot in this gym again and I'll be telling everyone I know about this. Shame on you Planet Fitness!!! This location should be boycotted and shut down!! read more

The employees are friendly and this place is always clean. The spa is beautiful and well maintained.

Fairly new equipment. Every time I go I see the staff cleaning diligently. Locker rooms are clean. For $10 a month definitely worth it if you come often and put in the work! I usually come after work around 4pm and it is semi crowded. I have gone saturday mornings as well and it was semi empty. This is not an Equinox but then again only a fool would feel like paying $200 a month on a gym makes you elite. read more
