Disclaimer/confession before I write the rest of this review. I typically *Hate* Gyms!! Gyms tend to not be as hygienic as I like .... I am a self proclaimed germaphobe. Too often I've seen people not wipe equipment after using it ewwwwww their sweat left behind and other germs if they have colds etc. I won't mention what else could be left behind by someone not cleaning off equipment! EEWWWWWW... Some gyms have towels that are reused by their patrons to wipe down equipment EWWWWWW lets share each other's sweat and yes booger's I've seen it! Ewwwwww!!! Some gyms have those who think if a bottle of water is good a gallon is better not realizing they are risking Hyponatremia (medical condition to drinking too much water -- cause the sodium in your body to become diluted. When this happens, your body's water levels rise, and your cells begin to swell. This swelling can cause many health problems, from mild to life-threatening via Mayo Clinic .) anyway these people go around acting like they are mr& mz universe. While drinking their gallon of water they are slamming their weights and grunting so the whole gym can hear. Some gyms are more like social hook-up spots than gyms everyone posing walking around/looking around to get attention not really there to get a workout in. Some gyms sadly much of their equipment is outdated and of broken. Do when Planet Fitness came to town I was hesitant to join; however with a 10$ monthly fee and no long term commitment I thought sure I'll give it a try. I can quit in a month. It will satisfy the man that I gave another gym a chance. We have been members now since day 1 and I actually really like this gym!! Shock!! Why? 1. It's clean! A. They use disposable paper towels and spray for clientele to wipe down equipment. B. They have staff personnel constantly cleanly the premises and equipment as well. 2. They have an no "Lunk" policy. "Lunk" is used by Planet Fitness to describe one who grunts, drops weights, and judges. At planet fitness there is a lunk alarm that will go off if they believe you to be a lunk. 3. It's new so all the equipment works and is new. There are plenty of treadmills, stair-steppers, arc-trainers, ellipticals etc. that you don't have to just hang around waiting to use a machine. 4. really is a place where you can go and feel comfortable, not intimidated by show offs. Where it's clean and affordable for just about anyone. 5. The staff at this location I've encountered are all very nice. Planet Fitness is a good addition to town. I no longer hate gyms. I actually enjoy going. read more

Lompoc Planet Fitness newly remodeled their floor in mid June 2025. It was a huge improvement including the addition of many new stair stepping machines. Staff was nice. It's a cramped space but they're doing the best with what they can. It is filled with people who like to creepily stare, no matter what time you go. Parking is not the best when busy. Tanning beds and massagers are always dirty. Overall, the quality matches the price. read more

I been a loyal customer since they opened but I don't like the vibes after this guy began to work here! He is so rude, a while back he told me I couldn't come into the gym with jeans. I had just got back from work and I was to tired to go change. Plus no one else has a problem with other people coming in to work out with jeans. What does he care? Not only that, another time he was very bothered with me when I asked him to look me up with my phone number. He rudely said "Next time make sure you have your keychain or app up." No other staff seems to have any problems but him. Everyone else has always been so welcoming and kind. Today, just as I walked in, my app happened to be updating, he looked at me with a rude look and said. " Let me just look you up with your phone number" I told him the number and he said "what?" He didn't hear the last two numbers and I repeated it to him. At the end of my workout I was trying to use the massaging chairs and he stood there sitting down with his phone literally not bothering at all. After, 3 minutes I said "hello" I literally startled him. Wow! What service, he makes me feel very unwelcomed. I will be reconsidering my membership in this place, sadly all because of this lame dude. read more

It's a decent gym pretty affordable. The one in Lompoc is pretty clean . You go to work out it's great .

Unfortunately the ladies room and most likely the men's room are not cared for and cleaned. I have seen numerous instances of mold and bugs in the shower stalls. There's always hair clogging the drains. I asked Alisa & Trey when cleaning is done at the gym. They both said cleaning takes place at night. No one is in the gym after they close and the staff isn't cleaning but they always have plenty of time to play on the phone. I don't know what has happened to the working population!!! I have never seen such poor service with younger employees that don't actually want to work. They just want to be paid. Sad sad sad read more

The new assistant manager "Joseph" is very aggressive and very rude. He makes it very uncomfortable to come into the gym. I avoid checking in with him. He does not create a good atmosphere for people coming in. The other day I was checking in and over heard him and a woman arguing regarding her having her guest use the massage chairs with her. He was making up his own policies and saying how he can say and do what he wants. Basically saying they both couldn't go in at the same time??? It was very confusing and he was just mad acting childish towards her. WOW was he very disrespectful and belittling her. Honestly should look at having someone train him on customer service or even just in general being respectful to woman. The manager needs to shadow him and watch how he really acts with customers because this isn't the first incident I've seen involving him. Might switch gyms soon *UPDATE* Sep 22* Two employees that witnessed this incident asked me to leave this review to bring attention to the environment that Joseph has created for the team members and members of planet fitness. It is great that he has made a few connections with people at this gym. But he needs to treat EVERYONE the same way with the same respect. Yes he is the assistant manager but he cannot belittle people and say he's their boss not their friend and make up rules and policies and with his ex military background being so aggressive and demanding isn't going to work. I'm up in Lompoc for a 5 day business trip. I recently visited this PF. The staff is friendly and always ready to help, making it a welcoming environment for both beginners and seasoned athletes. The night time assistant manager, Joseph is super helpful. If you're ever in Lompoc and looking for a place to get fit, I highly recommend checking out this PF. The gym is probably the better gym in the area and is well-kept and orderly. Staff is friendly and attentive to any questions or concerns. Planet Fitness delivers as a clean gym with friendly staff, great cardio and weight equipment. I have been working out in gyms for over 30 years in Santa Barbara (Golds Gym, Athletic Club and Spectrum) and Lompoc (In Shape, YMCA, Pier Fitness) and I can say that Planet Fitness is a solid gym experience with no attitude, foul language, and inconsiderate members who don't wipe down equipment. The atmosphere is supportive, no matter what your age or ability. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Marshall, the manager is always very supportive as well, and doesn't hesitate to help pitch in with cleaning, etc., when they're short staffed. My only real complaint/concern is they no longer have the paper toilet seat covers that they had for years. Other than that, the facility is always kept clean and inviting! I am new at this gym. I hesitated for awhile to be a member here because of them not having the hot sauna, jacuzzi, steam room like the other gym has which I like a lot but since In Shape closed due to covid and I don't see them opening up again I finally had a change of heart. This place is clean, well-maintained. You can see the staff doing routine rounds of wiping the equipments. This place can be crowded, almost there's no place for you to do anything at times. I like the perks for the black membership, I love the water massage and the total body treatment. I tried to come here at least every other day, if not everyday. The staff are nice, attentive. Parking can be problematic if you wanna park closer. I like it here, give them a try. Get your body ready for summer. Lol. read more

This company requires additional form of payment to just to keep my Membership. I have a payment method on file and it has never been rejected by my bank in the years I've worked out there. But they simply want a credit card on file. This is simply bad policy for the consumer as it's a proliferation of credit card numbers and created liability to Planet fitness if they ever get hacked. They wouldn't budge so I decided to leave. It's sad that they would send a paying long time customer away because I don't like spreading my credit cards out to just everyone who ask for it. read more

This is an excellent gym with all the equipment you will need for a good workout. I went at 4:30 PM on a Sunday with minimal crowds and everyone was cleaning up after themselves. The Manager who helped me, Joseph, was extremely professional, ex-military, who was warm and welcoming to each guest. Huge fan of the gym - will return! read more

After deciding to finally go to the gym and tighten up, Right Brain and I chose here. We like their "Judgement Free" environment. Nothing worse than snarky snickers, stalker stares or hey look at me people. The equipment is new, clean and maintained. Facilities are perfect and the staff wonderful. I frequent the Los Angeles and San Diego Planet Fitness gyms often and the thing I noticed about this one is that there is no one cleaning, not patrons, not employees, no one. The culture starts from management from a education standpoint down to a monitoring standpoint. Saw several machines sweaty nasty. I'm willing to change the review rating if this changes by the next time I'm here. In the LA and SD gyms patrons are always cleaning due to being reminded to if staff notices someone using machines without cleaning, they'll also make rounds cleaning several times per hour when they're not at the front desk, they're never just sitting at the desk on their phones like Lompoc. Maybe it's time for better management and/training in addition to training/expectations/evaluations and wage increases for the ground level employees. Management 101. read more

The facility itself is great. It has all the equipment you need and some great services (massage chairs/beds, tanning).This is why I am giving it 2 stars and not 1. The problem with this place is a common one among planet fitness, and that's how it handles membership cancellations. I stopped going to this location in 2020 as I moved out of state, I walked in to the location before I moved to cancel but was told "our system is down today", so I signed a form declaring my cancellation and was told I was good. It is now 2022 and I have been continually charged by them off and on for almost 2 years. I have had my account froze twice upon request, and told that I needed to send a physical letter to the location informing them of my cancellation, I did this twice, 3 times if you include the form I signed before actually moving. Only to find out that I was still being charged. I spoke to Marshall the GM recently (Feb 2022) who then informed me that he could cancel the membership himself over the phone (magically). I asked him about getting refunded for the almost year and a half worth of charges that I have and he told me his Regional Yano Baptiste would be giving me a call that same day to discuss it. Well that was last week and still no phone call. It just goes to show that this place just wants your money and has little respect for customer service. I have records showing my multiple attempts to cancel my membership via phone and email, which they did confirm over the phone...but still nothing. I would avoid this place, but I know there aren't many options in Lompoc. Good luck. read more

Massive disappointment. I am local physician, came to try restart exercise after very difficult year on the frontline. So, I got interested in no commitment, month to month payment-- because I am not sure whether my health will allow me to exercise. Came in, 7/16, gave my information to join gym, everything seemed to be done deal. Got paged back to hospital, before leaving I asked - are we done? Yes, we are good. Return 7/19 -- nope, we were not done, moreover -- promotion is over!! Waste of time, really -- I attempted to talk to manager, hey, it's not my mistake, yours, give me courtesy and agree for what was so attractive on Friday. Wasted my time, she was unyielding. When I signed up a few months ago and mentioned I would be moving out of the area in a few months that it was no problem because I could cancel any time with no penalty. I thought this was perfect and signed up. I moved about 35 miles away and called to cancel. I was told that I could NOT, that I was in a 12 month contract! Requested a Manager to call me back because I was blatantly lied to and don't live anywhere near a Planet Fitness any longer. UPDATE: Received a call back and was told I can email cancellation request but would have to pay a "fee" of equal to 2.5 months. Manager told me that was because the basic plan allowed me to cancel without fee anytime, but because I let the salesperson upgrade me - now I have to pay. Waiting for District Manager to call me now. Every time I speak to someone (4 if you include comment by their customer service below)...is a different story!!! Do NOT recommend! read more

Been a member since the very beginning and it's everything I want and need in a gym. Classes would be nice but they just don't have that YET. Personal training basically for free. Since COVID I never felt safer in ANY building; they took the highest precautions. Hope it reopens soon because I need the gym to get rid of my extra Covid weight! Massage at the end of the workout makes my life complete and ready for the day. By the way, this is the most affordable gym anywhere I've seen so bear that in mind if you have expectations for more (like pool, steam room etc.). The bathrooms are always clean too. read more

The staff does not know how to use the computers. They have not been trained well. Nice but not trained. Joined back in August and there are still no classes. Had an encounter with the manager while trying to pay my bill and guy was rude, did not listen. I asked how to cancel my membership and he could have cared less. So I'm newly a full time traveler just exploring the world and this is my second Planet Fitness I've visited and all the other Planet Fitnesses I will visit are going to have a high bar to meet !! Marshall helped me figure out the infrared bed and went further to get me additional information regarding its benefits ! And today when I went in the sweetest girl Michealla or maybe spelled another way but the point is that the people that serve this gym are kind, thoughtful, real people; they aren't just there doing a job, they are serving their community powerfully and lovingly ! I felt seen, I felt supported, and I felt like part of the community ! The showers, bathrooms, everything was super clean too ! The music is quality and the flow of people isn't too busy but not not too busy so you still get the motivation from the idea that people are watching ! Really aggravating when you use the tanning bed and only one gal that works up front asks to see your googles. It's not good enough to tell her I have them in the bag, she has to see them. I signed a waver that they made me sign taking responsibility to wear Google's while using the tanning bed, last time I checked I am an adult. Even if she sees them, how does she know I use them, maybe she needs to come in and witness me wearing them! read more

The proper procedure would have been to ask if they could hold and make the person in front of them a priority. Don't expect to be treated with priority if you're coming in. read more
