Will someone answer why I need to give debit and bank account number information as well as all my personal infowhen enrolling?? I was told it is a third party Biller which planet has no control over but why wouldn't this biller offer say to use Venmo or PayPal which is a very safe form of payment and fully authenticates its members. I sadly cannot be a part to this complete info mining of my personal information. Shame on yall-ur askin for it & i will sadly laugh when i hear the news of some massive data breach bcause u guys (3rd party) have zillions of ppls info. over 10 lockers in the men's were broken into in the past 1-2 weeks. The latches were obviously cut with a bolt cutter or something. This really instills safety. The attitudes of the people frequenting this place are like primitive classic Eastern Mass tough guys and tough girls. Machines are claimed like children claiming a swing at the Playground. People leave a water bottle or towel or doo-dud on a bench or machine, walk away and then tell you they are using it. How can you be using a piece of equipment when it's not in use. There's no spirit of standing up after a set of 10, 20 or 30 are done of letting some one rotate in--you catch your breath, i grab a few for a few minutes, back to you...people here aren't brought up that way. It's about territory, dogs marking their place...showing you who's boss. Sad thing is I think it's up to Planet Fitness / staff to educate people about good gym practices...simply make some of those funny planet fitness signs that talk about out of breath, take a rest off the machine. Getting water for yourself, leave the machine free and accessible..something like that. Put that kind of thing right on the membership card, each machine etc . I do see people coming in not dressed for work out. I don't care what people wear in a gym. I'll let others duke that out---I care that people don't wipe machines down. I like the very ready availability of bottles to wipe everything down, paper towels etc but I begin to think that each machine should have a disinfectant bottle, and a sign again on each and every machine. People here just don't get it. I watched one guy work out, big puffy big guy and lay out 6 different barbells infront of him that no one could touch-=--wow impressive eh--but staff...I think you should just scan the floor all day and simply approach that guy....1 weight set at a time..etc... Go elsewhere if you like more conversant people that smile are polite. This is like working out in a dark alley at night outside a saloon. read more

I only joined because of the convinces of a "24" hour gym and multiple location. Typically, not much phase me but Boston St. staff is rude. One teenage nitwit asked me if I was tired and look that I would fall over and die over a machine... If you actually took your job seriously like having my two jobs, you would look and feel tired. Um so yea, Thanks for the word of encouragement. The gym is not dirty but is filled with people who sit around texting and holding up machines. There was even fights over elliptical machine. People in none proper gym wear like timbs and flip flops... No judge zone but what can you expect for 20 bucks. read more

Lots of lunks. Go on a weekday at 6 and there's lunks working on their biceps IN THE WINDOW. Like 4 across. It's hilarious! You'll build a healthy immune system knowing that no one cleans the machines when they are done with them! Excuse me, sir! You've left something behind! I think it's your BUTT CRACK SWEAT. You'll see guys working out in Timberlands! What skill! You'll get to meet people who like using their phone's speaker rather than headphones! This facilitates conversation, duh! Given that used to be 24 hours and now it's not no longer beneficial to my work schedule have moved my membership to another Planet Fitness.

I give PF in Lynn 5 stars, open 24 hours, good staff and equipment. But, the people who use it drag the rating down to a 3. Why ? #1: the "machine hogs". They sit there and own the machine for extended periods of time checking their phone in between sets. And this leads to #2 #2: unsociable members. Everyone has headphones in, and are living in their own little world. I have never exchanged a word with anyone there, except the pleasant and professional staff. Add #1 to #2: if the members were open to normal human interaction and communication, perhaps I (or you) could get a set in while "the machine hog" rests between his/HER sets. Jeeeshh ! #3: what's up with "pizza Tuesday" !?!?!!! Carusos pizza is excellent. HELLO, I AM TRYING TO AVOID CARBOHYDRATES!!! What next, Big Mac Wednesday !?!?!!! Rant over. Just for those who do not know and pay for the planet fitness black card there's a trick they have! They advertise you can go to any club and work out if you pay the extra $10 dollars, but what they don't tell you is you can only go up to 10 times in a month to the gym unless you pay an additional $5 dollars per visit. You get what you pay for. Although the sraff tries hard, this place is full of nitwits. Most of the equipment is tied up by phone geeks, who have to check their phone after each set of reps. Sit and text, and talk. Their thumbs and their jaws get more of a workout. There also seems to be a group of young spanish dudes who like to hang out in the men's locker room to watch the guys shower. Kind of creepy! read more

Super unprofessional staff. Cory is really rude and obnoxius. Calling corporate and cancelling my membership along with my wife and son. I called to complain and was told to speak to a manager. Guess who the manager is? I suggest every one go to work out world.same price and zero of the rude staff thst seems prevalent on quite a few of these chains in my experience. I'm current member in the Chelsea,Ma club,and that's where i workout.But yesterday,the club was close and we decided to go to lynn,MA to workout,because that club is open 24h. My son is 9 years old,but i have the doctor's note authorizing him,workout with me,because he is over weight.So yesterday when i got to that club in Lynn,MA,the staff was very rude, he did not let us workout,and the way he talk to us,made my son so sad and embarrassing. People was looking at us,so frustrated. That gym is big,looks nice,but unfortunately i had this bad experience with the staff. I ask for the manager,and he told me that he was in charge on that moment.If was just me,no problem,but hurts when is with my son...he is only 9! I hope nobody else go thru this,i really do. I like this gym and the people who work there are nice, but DO NOT use ANY equipment without first disinfecting it, if you care about hygiene or germs. I have been on the treadmill and watched many, many people not clean the machine (weight, cardio) when they are done. Honestly, only about 50% of the clientele, that attends this PF, "cleans" up after themselves and complaints are only responded with "we try". IMHO, it's disgusting getting on a machine after someone leaves sweat on it. Even more gross when they wipe the sweat off their body with a paper towel and you know they've left "residue" on the machine. I've also seen a number of members leave the women's bathroom without washing their hands. It was the same at the other PF that is about 6 miles away. read more

I came to planet fitness in Lynn for the first time today. I am a member in revere as it was the closest location to me until Lynn recently opened. I've never had a bad experience in revere but have to say the Lynn location beats it! The staff member I dealt with today was stellar! She welcomed me as I walked in with a genuine smile and hello. I asked if I could switch my home membership to Lynn and she stated that I could and that it would be a quick process. She was able to switch me over without a problem. I used to go to the Salem planet fitness until i found there was one opening in my hometown and changed here and glad that its also 24/7 like salem which helps because now its a lot closer. I like that they have new machines here and how clean it is considering its been here basically a year now. Great place! read more

I was told to contact staff or the manager about any issue however when I did they basically brush me off saying rules are rules I went in with a Starbucks bottle that was 30 Oz thinking that it's tall but it's not massive so maybe I can use this unfortunately I was spoken to again and made to leave again and if this is the way the corporation of Planet Fitness wants to run their business and show their brand by saying just contact the manager when nothing good is happening then maybe it's just a Bad Company obviously nothing had been done and obviously nothing will be done I don't really care it's not my business but if it was I would do something to make sure the whole family friendly environment was upheld instead of being fought against there is no reason to not be understanding about the subject and for some reason everyone just wants to ignore so if you want to make your brand look this bad that's fine by me read more

So I gave this gym a try and let's say I was disappointed. The majority of the people don't wipe their machine, I see men's nipples everyday due to those shirt with the sides cut out and everyone love to be on their phone while on a machine. The normal waiting time for a certain machine is 30mins-god knows when, people love to take breaks between their set, checking on Facebook, googling about life or just chatting with friends while on the machine just sitting, literally just sitting. There's one guy I call towel guy, he puts his towel on a machine and walks away to use a different machine. Ten minutes later he'll return and use the machine and than Walk away again, leaving his towel as claim that he is still using the machine. If you remove his towel or place it elsewhere, towel man gets offended and will go up to your face saying that's his towel and that he was still using that machine eventhough he disappeared for half an hour. The people at this gym do not get gym etiquette, honestly the big buff dudes at my other gym are wicked friendly yet the average or slightly build members of this gym is everything you see in the planet fitness commercial, the ones that you want to avoid. read more
