Update: Please excuse my rant. The previous experience simply served to boost my motivation. Get up earlier. Work out earlier. Quit complaining. I arrived at the Gym good and early this morning and had an efficient and intense workout. My apologies for breaking my first rule: Don't let anyone turn my attitude sour. Today's experience was unacceptable. I arrived at 5:15AM and went straight to the two Smith Machines that were still operational. One appeared to be unoccupied, but had a gym bag and two water bottles on the floor beside the bench. Two women who were using the cable machine had apparently "Reserved" the one remaining Smith. I went about my workout, keeping an eye on the Smith. After 45 minutes of watching the two members scroll and converse and occasionally do an exercise, I left. On departure I did inform the team member at the reception desk, but he just shrugged. Perhaps management can institute a policy of periodic PA announcements reminding members that proper gym etiquette is required at all times. With that said, as much as I have enjoyed my Planet Fitness membership, regrettably I may NEVER return. read more

Good local place to workout. However, machines often are out of service and takes over a week sometimes two before it's fixed. Also, too many people sit on the machines for too long between sets and scrolling through their phone. Best to go before 8:30 or very late morning before noon. Too many kids during the free summer program and it wouldn't be bad if they really worked out and not jump from machine to machine and take selfies bothe male and female. Otherwise close and convenient and easy to get to if you are local. read more

Small leaving very little duplicate cardio equipment which is bad when it takes months for repairs., From day one the staff was between dis interested or unfriendly at the front desk. As a 20 year PF member never having a complaint about me in over half a dozen clubs I was suddenly told one night there were "numerous" complaints about me from members and I was not welcome there. During the summer teens are allowed to use the clubs for free, the staff never took a few minutes to explain proper use of the equipment to them basically turning the place into a playground at times. read more

A 3 star rating is very generous considering machines that are broken can take a considerable amount of time to be fixed, free membership for ALL local high school, middle school and college who inundate the gym in two's, three's and groups of 4. No excuse for cleaning bottles or paper towels to run out. Hardworking manager but Lazy workers who are rarely seen cleaning anything! Maybe they deserve more like a 2 star rating but can reach a 4 with recommended improvements. read more

This gym gym could be a little improvement too can be cleaned sometimes could be there too in the shower and all that stuff to the gym is too small. That could be bigger also. less crowded because people make a mess and they also leave a mess in their sweat and stuff on the on the machines too. read more

I would have preferred to report this to a manager rather than write a negative review, but no manager was on premises. Broken lock on door of Body Enhancement room for over one month. Was ensured by staff a few weeks ago that area is monitored, however, someone opened the door while the room was in use. This is such an easy fix. Switch out the door handle for another or place a temporary lock on the inside for security. Was this reply created by AI? Maybe your staff member should follow up with management. Yes, I was at this place, but it's incredibly dirty. The people who work there are professionals, but the people just sitting around open their mouths in front of us are filthy. The bathrooms look like they've been used for dead people. It's a terrible place, absolutely terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to the owner. This business is damaging the franchise because it hires people who are dirty and poorly groomed, like they're on the street. They even go outside to smoke marijuana with some customers. That's not what a professional does. It's unforgivable. I would never employ someone like that in one of my businesses. read more

Too many members not enough equipment , be prepared to sometimes wait 15 minutes between Machine exercises and bench's just to get a daily workout. There's no employees walking the floor to stop anybody from holding or hogging multiple machines or to manage long periods of phone watching between sets. I definitely would say it is worth the price for 10 bucks a month. Front staff is excellent . * Note to the manager: Possible think of a way To reserve a few benches and squat machines. I usually come here 5am, but today i went around 10am ish. The female staff was doing her job cleaning up, but i had a whole set up by the leg press with different weights since it was crowded, and she just grabbed them and put them away in the middle of my set. Didnt ask if i was using that or anything. I put my weights back when im done. read more

I don't know why this gym franchise (Merrick, NY) insists on having Fox News on all the time. I go to the gym not only to work out, but also to decompress from daily life. As a paying member, I shouldn't be subjected to someone's political ideology and I resent being forced to watch this channel while I'm getting my workout in. I should be able to go to a gym (or any public place), and be able to relax and decompress and not going out to raise my blood pressure. I have repeatedly complained to staff at the front desk and have been told to email management because the orders come from them. No, I'm not interested in emailing management to discuss this because politics should not be a part of a business plan. If this problem persists, I will be joining another gym. read more

It's not high end, but it's not supposed to be. Staff are pretty friendly. Wish they'd post signs telling people to not use cell phones while on machines (huge pet peeve!). Pretty decent place overall! read more

I'm not sure what is happening at this planet fitness. All the television sets that were set to different channels seem to repeat the same station. I am watching 5 CNN stations and the ONE tv that had fox is no longer visible? The desk stated that the manager is the only one who can change the station. They don't believe it. Immediate customer service when you walk in the door... why because nobody stays at desk to greet you. , nobody is at the desk. You just stand there and wait there until they're ready for you to come to talk to you ... at least that's what I was told when I found somebody to ask me for help if they were pleasant it would've been one thing, but they were not. Then the person next to them decided to chime in and tell me to go back to the desk, as well as if I was their child I was actually there to sign up... just to walk in the door was hard to commit to a gym membership to be told to go back to the front desk and they'll be with me when they're ready to me. I am someone who has an eating disorder and has gone through it all. To actually get myself to sign up to a gym with a huge step for me and I was excited until l walked in and got spoken to so unprofessionally by one of their staff so if that's what you're looking for then go to planet fitness in Merrick and you will get to be treated like a piece of Sht read more

It's been almost three months now that there is no working water fountain... what type of gym doesn't have a water fountain?? For god sake we are sweating our a****, and they have the audacity to refuse paying patrons with complimentary water bottles. New machines but the chest press is still broken and water fountain still broken for months. read more

Not the best maintained Planet Fitness. Several machines not working, paper towels empty and trash cans overflowing. Men's room, urinals had paper, gum and other debris, and not clean for two days in a row. Sorry, this planet fitness does not meet up to the standards others have. read more

Out of the 5 elliptical machines that I like to use at the Merrick Planet Fitness, 3 (# 50, 51 & 54) of them have broken or missing toe guards. I've informed staff over a month ago and nothing has been done. Staff also clean and dust these machines regularly so they have to be aware. I don't understand why they haven't been fixed. read more
