As a formal worker at Montgomery IL Planet Fitness, I have to say it is hands down the worst place to work. I was hired as a manager, but instead of managing, I found myself stuck at the front desk just in case someone walked in. If you work there, no matter your title, you end up doing everything. I wasn't treated like a manager--I was basically the stock boy, filling coolers with protein and water that hardly anyone buys because they're outdated. On top of that, I was made to play janitor, cleaning the bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers. When I was on the gym floor, I became the "weight boy," constantly picking up all the weights scattered everywhere and putting them back. And when the tanning beds were done being used, guess who had to clean those too? The absolute worst part? They have us cleaning under the cardio machines while members are waiting to use them. How do they expect anyone to be productive or feel respected in a job like that? Planet Fitness treats their employees like disposable workers, and it's beyond frustrating. It's absolutely infuriating how Planet Fitness handles the whole Saturday night closing cleanup--why on earth don't they just hire a cleaning crew to do it? Instead, they choose to make their employees slave away after hours like it's some kind of unfair punishment. It's beyond disrespectful. And as for the owners, it's clear they're completely out of touch with reality. No wonder women are treated poorly and real men are being pushed out of the gym altogether. The place feels like it's lost all sense of respect and fairness. Then there's the Annual High School Summer Pass™ program from June 1 to August 31--what a nightmare! The gym turns into a chaotic mess with unruly kids doing whatever they want, glued to their phones, completely ignoring any gym etiquette. And guess what? Planet Fitness gets government subsidies for this so-called community outreach, which basically means they don't give a damn about the paying members. Your concerns? They couldn't care less. It's maddening to see loyalty and respect thrown out the window just because they can cash in on subsidies and ignore the needs of their real customers. This whole situation is a disgrace. I can't believe we're actually told to force members to give 5-star reviews or else risk losing our jobs. This was the last straw for me. This location is a mess both physically and in terms of service. The front desk staff often seem annoyed to be there, barely making eye contact or answering questions. I've noticed broken tiles at the entrance and other safety issues that no one seems to be addressing. The equipment is outdated, and the tanning booths are practically useless. To top it off, the cleaning crew decides to vacuum or dust right when people are actively using the machines. Not safe, not professional, not worth it. Planet Fitness Montgomery, IL claims to be a "judgment-free zone," but not only do they fail to live up to their motto, they also show no concern for how members behave in their club. I was insulted by another member with racial slurs, and when I formally requested that the club cancel the offender's membership to prevent further harassment, the response was shocking. Although they confirmed the insult after reviewing the security footage and speaking with witnesses, they refused to take action. Even more disturbing, the club manager attempted to justify the offender's behavior. As a result, I canceled my membership immediately and switched to Jakked Gym, which is far superior in many ways. Additionally, I had ongoing issues with the facilities at Planet Fitness. While they have a large number of treadmills and ellipticals, many of them are rarely in use. While enrolling my son, who has special physical needs, I had a distressing encounter with James (regional manager) His arrogance and lacks of professionalism were completely unacceptable. The way he spoke down to me with a condescending attitude made me feel unwelcome and disrespected as a loyal member. If you need somewhere to go just for cardio and you're desperate. So be it. I just know the people in there and the environment was pure BS. These people weren't serious about working out and I enjoy going to higher end gyms for many reasons. Planet fitness has tons of robberies and smells like crap and also has the lowest form of life in there since the price point is so low. I rather pay the premium in this instance, Planet Fitness's whole business model is setup to cash in on people who are the type to get a membership in January, go for a few weeks and then not go until next January while forgetting to cancel their memberships. The owners of Planet Fitness have admitted this in so many words in several interviews. It's not meant for serious people but those who go to a gym on a whim after thinking "maybe I should work out and then give up. Planet fitness of Montgomery IL they hook you in, like every other gym, except in this one when you try to cancel, they become aggressive and threatening. I haven't been in that garbage gym since Aug 2024 because I don't spend a lot of time at that gym anymore. In January 2025 I called to have my membership cancelled; I would've happily paid an admin fee or cancellation fee, but the employee AND the manager on the phone flat out refused to even have a conversation about it. Me and a friend both Latino men stopped out at planet fitness in Montgomery IL, we walked in there no one at the counter, so we walked in and no one ever said a word one person was cleaning the leg press wile someone was sitting in it (how does that work) the person on the leg press was just playing with his phone wile people are waiting to workout. No respect this gym everyone has no Idea how to workout out, there is no one to show them how to workout everyone there is lost. We talked to some members they had noting good to say about this gym, its not 247 like thy say it is. The leg curl press that was not working the button was on the floor .One member said thy have tanning there but the machines are not cleaned ever and they don't go the full time of the tan, what ever that means! I signed up for the gym since it was close to my house and of course they had the most egotistical gym rats that would talk to you as if they didn't work for 11 dollars an hour. I wanted to cancel my membership since the gym was just too small however when I tried to cancel my membership the next day they said I had to show proof of me relocating to another state or joining the military. I am a 24 year old hispanic female and Ive been going to this location since 2023, i recently had an altercation that had a grown man screaming and threatening me in my face as well getting hands put on me by an older woman. Police was called and it was documented. Management handled this HORRIBLY. Aka Jordan Lanclos-Pannell, per the police i was the victim. But Jordan believes that just because the man didn't actually put his hands on me just verbally threatened me twice that he's allowed to keep his membership along with the lady who actually did put their hand me. All that was done was documentation on membership profiles on all three parties (including myself, even though i was the victim. This is not a safe place for hispanic women. The man is still allowed on the premises. Im very deeply hurt as this was my home gym and i literally go here everyday. I canceled my membership 3-4 months ago and I just realized I got charged for my membership the last 2 months out of nowhere. I called once to let them know and get a refund and then a second time to inform them about the 2nd month I didn't realize about before the 1st phone call. The woman that helped me during the 1st phone call was very nice but the man who answered the phone the second time was very dismissive and rude and quickly said "Have a good one" in a rude tone and hung up before I even had a second to reply. Also, while attending this gym, all the team members would congregate at the front desk. All seemed to be young (which is fine) and just talking and messing around with each other even when members would go to the desk. This was a nice location to visit whilst traveling to Aurora. Clean, friendly staff, and all of the standard PF-accoutrements. This is a "newer" location with updated Life Fitness equipment: USB chargers, etc. This Oswego/Montgomery location was very low-traffic on a Sunday morning... all of the machines and weights were open and available for use without any wait. As always the PF Black Card made it possible for a stress-free workout while on the go. read more

I used to frequent this Planet Fitness before I moved to Naperville and switched to a different location. I miss it every day because it is by far the best Planet Fitness of any other PF location and sometimes I will still make the commute to use this gym because it is so great. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The gym itself is huuuge and extremely clean. There is so much equipment so you never have to wait to use a machine. In addition to that, the equipment is all brand new and extremely advanced. I always get the best work out here. Typically, you only have to pay $10 a month to use this gym but I pay $20 a month and I can use their tanning beds, hydromassage beds, massage chairs, total body enhancement machine, and bring a guest with me any time I come in. They have the best tanning beds of any other location and I know that some locations (such as Naperville) don't even have the hydromassage beds or total body enhancement machines. The only problem with this gym is that because it's so cheap and has everything you could possibly need to work out....a lot of people go here. Morning, noon, and night no matter what day of the week it will be busy so be sure to go during the off hours! read more

Both facilities are requiring members to wear a mask 100% of the time, they also closed off the lockers in the locker room and showers, they have separated the sinks but do allow use of the bathrooms and change rooms. Safety safety safety should be your main intention along with a good workout experience. Creating anxiety and not Enforcing your own mask rules does not make sense, we are still in the pandemic and the virus is airborne please require your members to wear masks 100% of the time! Please require your staff to enforce your rules instead of monitoring their phones and socializing behind the desk. read more

First of all the gym doesn't have ANY free weights. You have to use those guided racks. Who would have thought that a gym this big doesn't have free weights. The dumbbells only go up to 75 and the whole gym is nasty. Next thing- cancelling is a huge hassle. On the plus side there is tons of equipment and the bathrooms are clean. Most reps will say thank-you when you check in. (Some are preoccupied with electronics) Posted on the entrance doors and within the building are statements to adhere to mask wearing. That's a total joke! Less than 2 percent of the members abide and no one enforces. The only cleaning being done is by the members which is hasty since they are trying to work out. I did witness some floor cleaning and filling of spray bottles but not wiping down equipment. There are anywhere between two to four people at the counter so not sure why cleaning is not maintained. Back story - I used to be the Ops Department Head at LifeTime in Warrenville - back when it opened. My experience with health clubs / gyms has been on the "luxury" side. To be honest, I took advantage of the free membership at LifeTime and was a wee bit spoiled... that was until I realized how much money I was saving with that freebie. So if you want a rock climbing wall, racketball courts, basketball courts, a lap pool, kids pool, outdoor pool, spa, cafe, and beef cake idiots everywhere... go ahead, waste your money at LTF. Sure, the Naperville cougars are there... but if you're going to work out with the primary reason of watching/creeping on the yoga pants wearing 50 year olds with leathery skin and the Prada gym bag then you may as well just punch yourself in the face for all I care. Planet Fitness delivers - redundant, eh? Yes, they deliver. $10 a month for access to the entire place. I have no interest in fake baking and therefore don't see a benefit (for me) in the black card. For others, go ahead... skin cancer, dude. Anyways, the hours are awesome, the place is always spotless and the people that go there don't walk around like they just fought some douchebag MMA battle. Good people, clean place, good equipment. Simple. In - get my cardio and weight busting process on, clean up and leave... all for $10 a month. Suck it, LTF... suck it hard. Gym is pretty good, staff is OK. One thing that they do different from other PF I have been to is that staff is always behind desk and don't bother checking garbage cans or even cleaning equipment. My only issue is no one monitors the 30 min circuit room, there are a lot of times I can't use the room when needed because there are people just using certain machines for 5 mins or more. I signed up for this gym on break from school, just for two months. When I signed up, the seemingly competent employees stated that it was fine if I only joined for the short duration. Flash forward to seven months later and I've been billed for five more months than I signed up for. When I called them, they stated that it's not usually their practice to have such short length of memberships. I have a Black Card because I like to use PF on vacation - not for the tanning or massage. I personally prefer this PF to others in the area. The shower area seems bigger and more comfortable. That's important to me, since I go to work after my workout. Another review says the area seems "ghetto"... REALLY??? What is that supposed to mean? The locker-room is clean and relatively spacious. My only small gripe is that the dumbells only go up to 75lbs and there is not free weight bench press or squat rack. Everything is new and clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The only thing that kept my review at 4 stars is that ALL the tanning is with beds. At a gym, it's gross. Everyone is sweaty and yes they keep the beds clean but I don't even like to lay in my own hot sweat....Upright is the only way to go at a gym. Planet Fitness is the first gym EVER to not make me feel crappy about myself when going, and that's huge. The signs everywhere, while they might seem cheesy at first, make a big difference to insecure folks like me who need that extra boost to feel welcome in a fitness environment. It's crowded at peak times of day such as 5-7pm, but that's the only downside -- nobody bothers you here, and the staff is hands-off unless you're taking advantage of one of their free classes or training programs. There's all age ranges and body types and everyone (from what I've seen) minds their own business. There are enough machines and free weights that even if something you want to do is occupied, you can usually find a similar enough machine or workout to do instead or just wait a few minutes for that person to finish. Plus they offer free food sometimes but I'm never there during those times. Still, this is by far the best gym I've ever attended! read more

This is a really nice gym. Nothing too frilly, but a lot of equipment, friendly staff, clean, well-lit. I had actually switched to the Oswego L.A. fitness for a short time (my health insurance gave a discount there) and I just didn't like the "vibe" there....just felt too superficial or something to me. So I switched back-I never got that feeling at Planet Fitness. My only gripe (like Jamie C.) is that no one monitors the 30 minute circuit or the 12 minute abs. I have had far too many experiences when I'm following the circuit and have to skip a machine because some tool decided he needed to use it for 10 minutes. I have seen identical equipment on the main floor but some folks insist on going to these special circuits to monopolize the equipment! And I've spoken to the office staff about the 12 minute abs only to be told "Yeah, we ordered a sign..." I haven't yet seen this sign and I'm pretty sure it won't work. I wish the layout was different so these circuits were next to the front desk and could be easily monitored by staff. Okay, my rant is over. Otherwise, it's a nice gym :) read more
