This facility has recently undergone a major change in equipment. Despite their promises of being an "intimidation free" environment, the current proportion of free weights and "body builder" space far exceeds the amount of space for simple machines. They have removed most of the easy to use standing weight machines so that there is now a wait for that equipment and they are all very close together. Unless you are a fit body builder interested in using free weights, do not believe the hype this place is NOT for you. The company has changed focus and has changed their core values form "non intimidating" to a focus on "strength" directed to their largest segment of 18 -44 year olds. if you are not young fit and interested in getting "strong" they don't want you there. read more

I needed to change a couple of memberships and not only did he help me OVER the phone but he was extremely helpful & professional. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I've been a member of PF Mount Laurel for the last couple of years. I've had multiple billing issues over the the last two years. I don't go nearly enough (especially with COVID) and decided to cancel. Upon going into the club to cancel I was interrogated as to why I wanted to cancel and they abruptly attempted to persuade me to stay. I explained that I wasn't using it enough and continue to have persistent billing issues. I asked why my last bill was significantly higher than my normal. Apparently, I was charged a yearly fee for 2021. Considering I am canceling prior to 2021, I requested a refund of that charge and was told this is a non refundable fee despite the circumstance. Absolutely unacceptable. If I ever wanted to go back to a gym, it would never be Planet Fitness. Completely garbage customer service. read more

PF Mount Laurel review: My wife and I Joined PF approximately 3 1/2 years ago. We initially liked it because they keep their facility clean and the business model discourages ignorant meat heads and steroid jacked morons from wanting to join. For the most part, members tend to be friendly and respectful towards one another. Most just keep to themselves. It's a comfortable atmosphere to workout in mainly because no one is in competition and gawking stares are at an extreme minimum. Which can be appreciated by both men and women. The Machines at planet fitness are not top of the line Machines (Cybex are the best I have ever used) but they are of a decent enough quality and get the job done. In terms of variety, there's more than enough options for your choice of gym equipment. And overcrowding is not an issue due to the size of your typical PF. If I were to stop here, then I would probably give Planet Fitness a 4 or 5 star rating. Unfortunately I cannot... Back sometime in 2018 the Mount Laurel facility was having a major renovation and was closed for months. I'm pretty sure I was still being charged even though they were closed to members. Later, when I inquired about my membership status, I was told I'm being permitted to go to another facility without needing a black card membership. This was very thoughtful of them (sarcasm) but driving an extra 30 minutes to workout at the Delran gym was too much. I only went to the Delran gym one time (45 minute drive) just to see what it was like and the staff and facility was absolutely perfect in everyway... very friendly and professional. Mount Laurel on the other hand, is a different story. Before Covid, the only minor annoyance you had to deal with was hearing the "lunk alarm" go off when/if someone slammed the weights down or an extended lunk alarm 10 minutes prior to closing, which was completely unnecessary. Not that big of a deal though... After the covid state mandates went into effect, most of the staff went into full blown gestapo, Authoritarian mode enforcing mask wearing even when you were lifting and oxygen deprived. The Planet fitness website states in their general policy that you can go without wearing your mask if you're in the process of lifting weights or doing cardio. The MT Laurel facility doesn't allow this. Ironically enough, it was perfectly fine to remove your mask to drink. Somehow, drinking from your water bottle or the fountain has an anti-virus affect...go figure. Also, with all of the overly obsessed cleaning of the machines and forcing people to return cable machine attachments (grips, handles, straps) you would think that the NPC, (non-thinking) drone staff would realize that they haven't cleaned the handle on the front doors or the plates on the smith machines which literally every single member comes in contact with. Why cherry pick what you're going to sanitize? Why do things half-assed. If you're so concerned and fearful of a virus or a state mandate then go 100%. Cherry picking only exposes your hypocrisy and reveals insincerity. Anyway, Today my wife went in for a workout while I entertained our kids. 30 minutes later I get a text with her telling me she is being kicked out for wearing her mask below her mouth. Later, I come to find out she was on her 4th set of squats and was out of breathe. She felt if she didn't remove the mask temporarily that she was going to pass out. The only other closest member to her was about 30 ft away. She was then approached by a very irritated and arrogant manager by the name of Greg who told her: "This is your first strike, you need to leave, you're disrespecting other members." No warning, no questioning... just get out! ..wtf!! This had to have been an intentionally, personal attack towards her. I say this because I have witnessed several other members who were approached by staff (including Greg) who had been given warnings for (sometimes multiple) either not wearing their masks over their mouth or for having their mask below their nose. I personally witnessed one woman on a treadmill receive 3 consecutive warnings for wearing her mask below her nose and she wasn't removed. I, myself have been given 2 or 3 warnings in a single gym session. Sometimes my mask would slip off below my nose on it's own and other times I would pull it down when out of breathe. I would explain my health condition that makes it absolutely necessary for me to momentarily remove my mask but I won't due to HIPAA laws. For a gym that "pretends" to care about it's members health, you would think that they would be even more concerned with the risk of causing someone's death from the combination of oxygen deprivation, stress from a workout and the added stress placed on the heart from lack oxygen. The potential for a lawsuit is high and I suspect that one single lawsuit would most likely put this mismanaged business under. Continued..... read more

Continued PF Mount Laurel review: Under wife's yelp profile After meeting my wife in the parking lot, I decided to take her and my whole family back in to the gym to discuss the matter and to cancel both our memberships in person. The young blonde girl behind the counter was very friendly even after I told her we both wish to cancel our memberships. I asked her if she had a printed copy of their policy specifically on mask wearing. She claimed they didn't have a policy. They only base their policy on the state mandates concerning all businesses for the state. This of course is not true because I had this very discussion with the manager Greg a few months prior to this incident. At the time Greg told me, the Policy on the Planet Fitness website allows for a member to go maskless when working out but their facility requires permanent mask wearing. This same Greg who gave me multiple warnings for not wearing my mask and other staff members who have clearly stated "we give a few warnings, then after a few, we will have you removed". Had suddenly, on a whim decided he's going to implement what he called a "one strike rule" as of 1/29/2021, specifically to my wife and without any explanation. Speaking with the polite blonde girl behind the counter who was in the process of canceling our memberships comes Greg, back from his break. I then turned to Greg and asked him if he had a printed copy of their policy on mask wearing and in full grandiose, egotistical fashion, this mentally impotent manager enthusiastically says: "You're cancelling both your memberships?!? That's fantastic! You can leave now!" He then turns to the blonde girl and tells her: "you don't have to cancel the memberships for them here and now. They can cancel their memberships at home on their computer." I asked Greg what was the reason for Kicking my wife out of the gym without warning. He dishonestly claimed: "It's a one strike rule!". I asked: since when? Myself and every other member in here have always received forewarning. He said: "It's always been a one strike rule". Throughout the whole interaction I remained civil but Greg was visibly on edge and emotionally attached to the issue as if we had directly harmed him in some way. As we proceeded to leave, I told the kids: "come lets go, we're leaving now" and as I followed my family out the double doors to the large open lobby (full of fresh air from outside) I noticed there was what appeared to be a notice on the glass door which looked like a policy associated with COVID-19. I pulled my mask off and proceeded get my phone to take a picture of the policy (Photo attached on bottom). Greg rushed to the double doors where I was standing, pocked his head out into the lobby and said: "The gym facility doesn't end at these double doors, you need to put your mask on and leave the facility!" I told him: "yeah ok, I'm leaving anyway but I'm going to take this picture first". He replied: "YOU NEED TO LEAVE NOW!" I then told him: " Now you're just harassing me at this point... you need to back off" He replied: If you don't leave I'm calling the cops. I replied with a chuckle: "Go ahead and call the cops, I'm taking this picture and then leaving" Greg immediately rushed off to call the cops at the front desk. We sat in our vehicle for a few minutes and took our time leaving. I'm pretty sure the cops are tired of this nonsense as well. "Belief compelled through fear is not belief, it is blind and forced obedience." ~ Carlton Pearson Take a good look at the policy placed on this gym facility's (inside) lobby door. Notice how the gym claims to care about it's members health but could care less if your health is at risk from physical exertion combined with the risks associated with mask wearing while lifting weights or doing cardio. Even without exercise, mask wearing reduces oxygen intake (approximately 30% decrease) while it also recirculates some of the exhaled CO2. This causes increased blood pressure and increased afib (for those that suffer afib). For some it's a subjective condition induced by increased temps within the mask along with discomfort that attributes to the increased BP but make no mistake. The restricting flow of Oxygen plays a direct role in the stresses your body is experiencing and exercising while wearing a mask greatly exacerbates these stresses. At the very body of this policy there's a convenient disclaimer which states: "By making use of this club's facilities, you are assuming the risks that you may contract COVID-19 at the club or from someone". It's funny how they note this as they change their own rules based on their mood. read more

Where can you go and pay $10.70 per month and get a spacious and ventilated and clean gym? ~~ No where, that's where. I have left two different gyms to come here and I am VERY pleased. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They are not standing around and staring at themselves in their new Lycra outfit or flexing in the mirrors Any time that I have interacted with a trainer or staffmember, they have been courteous and informative. The management HAS changed recently and I have noticed that there is a HUGE positive difference. I have seen other people bring their kids that are adolescents and junior and high schoolers, which I think promotes healthier lifestyles within your family. It is roomy and people aren't breathing down your neck to get onto the machines. The cleanliness and more upbeat attitude from staff and management have made me look forward to going to the gym. So much for customer service... I'm a Black Card member (like that means anything) who visited this location tonight with my wife (another black card member) figuring we'd watch the Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets game and hit the treadmill while watching the game instead of going to the bar. I was surprised that the game wasn't on (5 mins after tipoff) so I went to the front desk and kindly asked if the channel could be changed. Much to my surprise I was told "No" and that they didn't do that because it's against the rules. I then headed over to meet my wife at the treadmills where I counted 16 ppl including the two of us using the cardio equipment (in sight of one of their 22 tvs) and another 20 members using the weight training equipment where the TV's aren't visible. Correct me if I'm wrong but their are more tvs available to watch than people in sight of them so it's not like I'd upset someone by turning off their program! What bothers me most is that instead of the 3rd round of the NBA Playoffs they have The Food Network (Cake Masters) on, HGTV, and a few other channels that do nothing to motivate a person to push harder. Shame because I've been patient having no locker room to use during the renovation and having to use a port-a-potty outside the building the past five times I've visited... That was no big deal and I understood that the company was making the place better. After tonight I think it's time to look at other gyms in the area. BTW... Visited for my first time using the one time free pass that was on the their webpage. Their low prices definitely sparked an interest so I figured why not try it out. My favorite color is purple but the amount of purple in this gym actually gave me a headache! There were a lot of cardio machines which was nice but definitely not much else. Also they are currently doing A LOT of construction so the place kinda seemed a mess and some equipment was closed off. Management is discriminatory & have canceled my membership without valid cause. They lie & refuse to hear me out, when this is the only gym location I can get to and have done NOTHING wrong. Think twice before letting these guys into your checking account. There is no point of escalation or backing from PF corporate office for disputes either. There is apparently no recourse, and only now do I see the many pages of similar complaints. BEWARE - there is apparently no THERE there at Planet Fitness. Mt. Laurel, NJ club suddenly charged $76 in October 2020. Last time at the club was 3/11/2020. Went into club asking for refund/adjustment due to COVID and surprise charges. Was told cannot be helped. Escalated to PF corporate who says "sorry, club can charge/do whatever they want" - they will not help. Interestingly, they will not accept email as official communications FROM me, but they claim the emails they (allegedly) send TO me to be binding. I never missed a payment during my time there, and was an extremely regular and loyal customer until I had to stop due to the pandemic. Their unwillingness to step up and do the right thing for customers during tough times is why will see the PF logo in the dustbin of history soon. Especially given their marketing stating otherwise. Would not recommend this club and will never use Planet Fitness again. Management like this will only hurt staff in the long run, when they close for good, as more burned customers find better alternatives and spread the word. After I wrote, called, emailed and complained on social media, on 10/28/20 I got a call from the Mt. Laurel, NJ club manager yelling at me for complaining, and telling me how wrong I am. A great location open 24/7; but always disappoints. Don't believe the hype. Planet Fitness is a franchise, so every location customer experience is probably different and the Mount Laurel location disappoints on several key points. Employees and the manager on duty are always on their cell phones. When you report an issue you get a blank stare or the usual response there is nothing I can do. The employees play spin the dial with the thermostats resulting in a very warm gym. Company policy is for all the thermostats set to 67 degrees. Gym not clean, could be much better does not make sense since the employees stand around on their cell phones. Broken soap dispensers, TVs, and machines broken for months. Paper towel is out in the men's room often. The Mount Laurel location is way past due for a remodel. read more

This is the absolute cleanest gym I've ever been to. The people working here are always friendly and keeping things tidy, even moving equipment to clean underneath it. Seriously they work their asses off. Everyone cleans up after themselves and practices common etiquette. I've been with a few dozen gyms primarily along the east coast and am pleasantly impressed with this one. It's a nice place to workout, with nice people, and I'm not afraid to take a shower. Also it's right near an aldi and indian restaurant so you can't go wrong. read more

I have been coming to this Planet Fitness for 3 weeks now and I have no complaints so far. I have been to numerous gyms for years and I have never been fully satisfied. Whether it be the employees, the atmosphere, or the price (one or all of the above), it's always the same BS. From someone most recently coming from Future Fitness, I am very happy I down graded to Planet. I never utilized the pool, sauna, free one hour training session only one time a month, there are no guest passes, and I was paying $40 a month. Not to mention, it was a constant social hour. Everywhere I turned, people were stopped and talking, walking around aimlessly. I've literally had people come up to me middle of my routine, headphones on, and stop me to converse, or flirt (men, women, young, old.) Ugh. I needed a change. The basic membership for Planet Fitness is 10.70 a month and I paid a $39 start up fee (not including tax), which was a promotion. I think, normally it's $49 down. You get charged an annual fee $29 plus tax, no cancellation fee and no charge to upgrade to a Black Card, which is $20 a month and no money down. It allows to use any location, guest privileges, tanning, use of their massage chairs, and half price cooler drinks. If you start with a black card membership and want to downgrade to the basic membership, you will have to pay the start up fee. Both memberships have unlimited training. There is a schedule you can sign up when you go in for different muscle groups for the time and day, or make an appointment to "design your own program, " also at one of their scheduled times. I haven't done any training sessions yet mainly because I usually go in between the scheduled times, but I'm open to going a little earlier or later. There are a ton of cardio machines (minus stair steppers), good enough equipment, a 30 minute circuit area, and a space in the far back corner to warm up. The only socializing I see between two people is if they are working out together. The locker rooms are clean, and the staff have all been friendly with greetings when you walk in and out. I have been going to planet fitness in Mt. Laurel for about 3 years now on and off. I am APPALLED at the customer service that myself and my husband got. Wow. It seemed like everyone just had a bad attitude, making us feel like we were burdening them for being there. No "hey how are you!" or "hi good morning" no "good to see you again!" no acknowledgment of my existence whatsoever. NOTHING! I would walk through the door and when I got to the counter to scan my card they would stick the thermometer at my head and say "okay your good" My husband walked in one night around 8:00pm and he actually did get greeted by the girl with the blue hair behind the desk. He walked in and she said "We close at 9:00" boy what a greeting! You do not welcome someone by telling them when they need to leave. Then when it was about 8:45 and my husband was almost ready to return his equipment an employee walked over to him and put his cellphone in my husbands face to let him know it was 8:45 So so rude. My husband told him he only needed it for a few more sets and reminded him that they close at 9 o'clock not 8:45 then the employee continued to tell him that he needed to return the equipment at 8:45 so that they could clean and sanitize the equipment and my husband said no I am paying for this membership to work out until 9 o'clock and that he really wanted to finish his set they continued to argue with him to the point of starting to use foul language towards him and then the employee with the blue hair came over and started telling my husband that he was acting like a little boy and that he needed to turn in the equipment because they needed to sanitize it for the health and safety of all the members And my husband said I'm not going to turn it in yet because I'm paying for my membership to be able to work out until 9 o'clock. this has nothing to do with health and safety you can sanitize the equipment after 9 o'clock when all of the members leave the gym. then they threatened to cancel his membership which they did after that night. Then the employee continued to tell my husband that everything needs to be sanitized because of COVID-19 (witch obviously we understand and appreciate that! ) but as the employees they should wait until the gym is actually closed then take the time to wash all of the equipment. She said it's because of people like him who choose to work out during a pandemic that they have to work hard to clean the equipment! She actually shamed him for working out during a pandemic saying that it's because people like him that she has to work?! that the mood and atmosphere that you get here i'm not saying that all the employees think the same way as the blue hair girl does but that is definitely the mood that I have gotten from almost every single employee in there UNBELIEVABLE!! And then my husband called the manager and he is just as bad! He even admitted to my husband on the phone that having equipment be turned in at 8:45 had nothing to do with keeping members safe for COVID-19 it was only because the owner of planet fitness Mount Laurel gives his employees a hard time about leaving at exactly 9 o'clock so that he does not have to pay the employees past 9 o'clock. The time has nothing to do with sanitizing to make sure everyone has clean equipment it's just so that he doesn't have to pay his employees past 9 o'clock. Your gym should be the one place that you can go that you know you will have a positive experience. For most people including myself working out is not always an easy thing. Half the time I struggle to even get there in the first place so when I do get there I would hope to be treated kindly I mean employees of a gym who are hired to be greeters, they should be welcoming! People in general should be kinder to one another especially during this hard time where normalcy seems to be a thing that is very far out of reach. We should all have empathy for each other we should all be kind to one another. ESPECIALLY employees at an establishment that promotes healthy living physically and mentally! read more

So pre-COVID I would have given this location and Planet Fitness in general 5 stars. Gyms just opened in NJ 4 weeks ago. We decided we still aren't ok going back. We wanted to cancel. Can't do it over the phone which I tried to do on 9/26. The woman told me to make sure I did it before the next billing on 10/5. I canceled in person on 10/2. Cool, right? NO! They still billed me $41 for my annual membership dues on 9/28. When I called I basically got "too bad" that's our policy. Plus you have to cancel 7 days BEFORE that date to count. "It's in your agreement" he told me when I called about this. Yeah well a lot has changed. What about the 6 months of my membership dues I didn't use because they were closed. I get they are hurt by this. But this is just sneaky, underhanded and opportunistic. When the time comes that we're comfortable going back to the gym, it won't be to @planetfitness. read more

Don't bother going. The gym was closed for months, I notice my CC statement charging me for a yearly $42 fee and monthly fee even though I had not gone in months due to them being closed, nor was I notified the gym was even open. I go in to cancel my membership in person, only to be told I cannot be refunded for the yearly fee nor the monthly fee even though I have not gone in and am afraid to because of COVID. I was told an email had been sent out that there would be a yearly fee, only to check my inbox there in person and find no email from planet fitness in both my personal and spam inbox. I was told to call corporate and tried to call their number with no avail. This place will just take your money in a pandemic and not even give you an option to give you your money back. read more

The situation with the construction and the men's locker room is really unacceptable. The men's locker room has been closed to the public since Halloween. And what space were they given to compensate for this? Why, being the generous company they are, 6 lockers and 3 changing booths in the window enclosed entry area! So, if it happens to be busy, and all the changing booths are full, you can undress in front of the whole parking lot! Same goes for lockers, where if they're all being used, then you're just out of luck! They also tend to prop open the doors in this area for some reason, so enjoy the streaming 14 degree air! The men's bathrooms are just as abysmal. You have to walk outside to the back exit of the gym, where they have 4 bathroom stalls that smell atrocious and have no heating. But, maybe Planet Fitness thinks that people enjoy relieving themselves in cold, smelly porta potties! To put a cherry on top of all this fun, I went to Planet Fitness today, and found yellow caution tape encircled around all the lockers for men, and signs saying the lockers cannot be used. So, there are currently NO lockers for men. In addition to this, Planet Fitness doesn't seem to care when construction takes place, so enjoy the sounds of hammers, drills and other sundry construction equipment while your trying to stay fit! I was informed in December that construction would be over by the second week of January, but apparently they were not correct. There still appears to be a lot of construction currently going on and lots of unfinished spots inside. My advice, steer clear of this Planet Fitness and try another one, or better yet go to another gym. Planet Fitness management of this renovation has been embarrassing and I don't how long it will go for! read more

They just completely renovated this gym and all i can say is WOW. Great machines, stretching areas, clean and roomy bathroom/locker room areas. The staff is decently nice and helpful. Great tanning facilities as well as massaging chairs and a "total body enhancement" room. My only complaints are that it could definitely be cooler inside, some of the new machines are weird and less comfortable to use, and there is only one place to lift free weights which is where a lot of the big guys go and try to act tough, so this can be deterring to me. $10 for a basic membership and $23 for a black card membership. Im a black card member and you truly can't beat the price. read more

I just recently wanted to upgrade my membership to the black card and didn't have the proper information on my account to do it through the app. So I decided to call the club even though it was closed (due to the pandemic) to see if they would help me. Greg was on the phone with me and was able to run over to the club from his home to go get the proper information for me. This gym is made especially for the New Years resolution patron; nobody serious about fitness goes here. The few people that are serious belong to other gyms and strictly use this gym out of convenience to maintain. The employees are either kids or someone that has no idea about fitness and seem to care little about safety. I brought to there attention numerous times about somebody using a piece of equipment in an unsafe manner which could have been life threatening if the equipment slipped, but there response was "we can't tell people how to work out". We'll hope they have good insurance and good attorneys! A real gym would have warned the patron, educated them on proper use and if it continued they would have asked the person to leave the gym. read more

Overall I'm very happy here. Sure there is no pool and no fitness classes, but it's nice and big, only costs $10.70 per month, and it was easy to sign up (light sales pressure to pay for a trainer, but easy enough to reject and move on with the process). Great environment. Very friendly and informative staff! The equipment and machines always seem clean and the bathrooms are spotless. The staff is always vacuuming, cleaning the machines, or mopping the entire gym. The manager, I think his name is Greg, is very charismatic and approachable. Helped me with an issue I was having with my account and showed me where all the equipment was after the renovation. 5 plus stars to this location. read more

Just a gym thats it! Nothing fancy but a great basic gym to come and work out for an hour. Basic showers restrooms and bathrooms. They also have 2 types of memberships one for $10 and one for $20 the latter includes a visitor's pass each time you visit and unlimited tanning too. read more

I've been going for several years. It's a great gym, nobody ever bothers me, and whenever I go it's not packed. Whenever I do interact with the staff they're always friendly and helpful. The reviews that complain about the reconstruction should be removed because, although it took some time to complete, was a major benefit to this location, and has been complete for quite some time. read more

I am a black card member, and I was denied black card member benefits at the Mount Laurel location. The system was not working correctly, as when I scanned my card, my information did not show and the manager had to look up my information manually to sign me in. I had brought a guest, who has been to this location as well as two other locations. He was not showing up in the broken system (obviously) and the manager stated ID was required to entire the facility. However, my guest did not have ID on him. My guest has NEVER been asked to show ID at any of the 3 locations he has been to. When I told the manager that my guest has been to this exact location and was not asked to present ID, she responded that she would "educate her staff on procedure." We were denied access to the facility and I, a black card member, was denied privileges I pay for. I am severely dissatisfied with this location, and especially with management's handling of the situation. She has no customer service tact and was actually rude to us. I am considering cancelling my membership and finding a new facility that honors card memberships, has better customer service, and trains employees in detail regarding procedures and customer service. In addition to the zero customer service abilities of the manager, mostly judgmental high schoolers attend this location. If you choose planet fitness, choose one of the other locations. read more

This planet fitness is great. Nice staff, clean locker rooms, and all equipment you could need. My only wish is that there were more room between the machines. But it's a gym, so whatever. It gets the job done. read more
