Robert helped me get an idea of creating a workout specific to my goals. They do their best to keep it clean and paper towels stocked for cleaning the machines post use. read more

The bulbs in tanning beds haven't been replaced in over a year. More than half of bulbs burned out for months still haven't replaced them

The Naugatuck planet fitness has been extremely unprofessional. The weekend staff I've never had issues with. That being said I can't say the same about the morning staff nor afternoon. These staff members like canceling memberships without letting the member know. which I was not notified. One woman text which in fact works mornings skinny blonde told me she was scared to say something to the higher up because the persons whom canceled it with out notifying me where both mangers that I will not name. She also said she called them both and said that that's F*** for doing that and not telling me. One of them says who cares I waved her fees. There's was also a conversation with a member via instagram about me slandering/ defaming my characte. This was also told to a few non members that go to the gym. They also let people with no membership work out and tan. They are constantly on there phone. Early morning staff take turns tanning on their shift. This is not a judgement free zone at all. They don't follow the planet fitness code of ethics at all. NO Naugatuck planet fitness is one of the worst planet fitness by far along with the employers that they hire they are very immature very very rude talks about each other, talks about members in front of other members. One brings it to the regional manager and surprise the regional manager doesn't do anything about it. You try to contact and get things done about it instead they retaliate against you and cancel your membership stating that you violated a planet fitness policy, this has been an ongoing occurrence for quite some time now. The gym has been nasty water leaking from the ceiling, etc. I've literally just been canceled for having a conversation with My Mother that had nothing to do with anyone in the gym. I was in the general lounge area after I've been reporting the staff and what's been going on in the gym. I ended up being retaliated against by the regional manager the managers and staff members also talking behind my back falsely accusing me calling me names harassing me, telling others when they see me they want to hit me. At some point something needs to be done. They also scam you out of your money, and cancel you and do whatever they want to do. read more

Since the voyeurism incident with the former manager, it's gone downhill. Something is always broken, be it equipment or something in the bathroom. The staff is mostly if not all young adults and they sit in the corner (not behind the desk) on their phones and not payng attention. One time I went to the desk to ask to use the massage chair and stood there for 5 minutes, and these guys didn't look up even once. I finally confronted them about it and they really didn't even seem to care. They said just walk up and ask them. I said they should be doing their job and paying attention. Regardless of the scandal, the old staff was much more attentive. It's a shame they all left when the former manager had to. I even said to they guys they old stafff paid better attention and they shrugged and said, "well that was the old staff." I worked in retail before and believe me, it I talked to customers like that I'd have been in big trouble. People have left this club in a mass exodus and if I didn't have the Black Card to use other clubs I'd be out too. Unfortunately, the Naugatuck club is closest to my home and the most convienient. read more

Given the current situation with the manager filming someone with his phone I wish the company would ban the use of cell phones altogether. I went to the locker room this morning to use the bathroom. Some guy sitting on a bench playing around on his phone. Not saying he was doing anything hinky, but you never know. I don't undress or shower in any locker room. Had a situation years ago with a pervert at a YMCA. This individual who was filmed by the manager should get a good lawyer file a lawsuit against the franchise. This shit should have never happened. I was ok with planet fitness until recently when they had an issue with the account and customers were charged twice First time I called when I noticed the money put the guy was very nice telling me it should be back in 3 days I called back in 4 days giving them time the lady that picked up was a lil rude so I figured maybe because a lot of people was calling and it was overwhelming so she told me by next week again I waited a lil longer so I called to find out more because I was tired of the run around and because no one was even bother to send a text or call to let customers know The guy was talking over me and did not give me a chance to talk and when I was complaining he got fed up and hung up on me when I called back telling him that he should treat a customer like that and I'm need to cancel my membership he replied that I was yelling on the phone ( which was a totally lied ) and told me go ahead mam we will cancel your membership and hung up for a second time on me. I did not yelling nor sworn at him so I was just a concerned customer calling. I do understand it could be frustrating and overwhelming because a lot of people calling for the same reason but no matter what he should never ever treat a customer like that and he shouldn't be a manager read more

This gym is extremely well maintained. Everything is spotless. The other patrons keep to themselves, which I like. If toure an introvert, this gym is a safe space. A downside are the hours, its only open until 11 pm weekdays, 7pm saturday, while other Planet Fitness locations are 24/7. The staff are friendly and helpful. Many of the weight machines are duplicates, so one typically doesnt have to wait. There are always open cardio machines. read more

Basic gym. There are always plenty of treadmills free, although some of the other types of cardio machines can fill up. The weight machines only have a couple of each type for the most part, so it's pretty common for those to be used. Off-hours are better. Always see people signing up, but it never gets any busier so I figure all those people paying $10 a month to not go to the gym are subsidizing my cheap rates. If you don't want the hard sale, I suggest skipping the free personal trainer consultation. read more

The new gym is awesome! All new machines, much bigger & better layout and great new black card lounge! Dustin was great with showing us around and explaining all the ins and outs! I've been a member for years, but to be honest, stopped going to the old facility because of the condition it was in. Exciting for the new place, and hope they keep up with it and it continues to stay great! My one observation is that the woman's restrooms are quite often either running out, or completely out of toilet paper. I think they need to have a check in maybe every hour or so. read more

Very fair monthly price and yearly sign up fees. If you're new, I'd wait for their specials. The parking lot is huge. The staff is great. There are plenty of machines to get your workout done. They have a 30 minute workout zone that you go from one machine to the other without skipping. It works well. This ensures you don't have to wait long if someone is ahead of you. One of the better locations for PF that I have been to. The machine area is a little tight, but the nicer tanning, weight circuit room, and locker room facilities have it hands down over the other locations I frequent. Each tanning bed has its own private room, giving Black Card members a much more "professional" tanning experience. The staff is helpful and friendly without being overbearing and I have not encountered any unpleasant or unsavory folk while working out. I usually go at 6am on week days or 5:30 pm- I will say at 5:30 it is extremely busy with almost every machine being occupied- but if you have the opportunity to go at another time, the morning for instance, you will find plenty of flexibility. read more

Very clean, and the equipment is decent. However, the climate control is terrible. It is way too warm in the cardio area. Also, there is no room for floor exercises, if you are into that. My final complaint is the locker room. The lockers are shallow, and the floor is just tile, with no skid proof matting, which is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I have slipped leaving the shower a few times. I belong to multiple gyms, and this is closer to my home, so I use it most mornings. But in the afternoon I'd rather drive an extra 20 minutes to go to a better, more comfortable gym. read more

This is a review for the new, updated Naugatuck facility. I was previously a member of the old PF and had discontinued my membership due to a few different reasons - for one, there were never any machines open for use, two, it seemed like more of a hangout than a gym to some people, and three, it was starting to get really crummy as far as upkeep goes. I then had a PF membership with my home club being Waterbury; it was a bigger, nicer gym with more parking and amenities than Naugatuck. However, I hated going there because I lived right down the street from the Naugatuck one. I just rejoined PF last week at the new Naugatuck facility. I'm really very impressed; the facility is big, clean, and welcoming with plenty of parking. The women's locker room is clean and updated, in good condition. The machines are all in good working order (as far as I can tell, I haven't come across one yet that hasn't worked correctly) AND there are so many more machines to accommodate people. No more waiting for a treadmill to open up. Tanning facilities are clean and have new tanning beds/stalls. I was afraid they'd cart the old ones over, but they didn't. They added massage chairs and aquamassage in the Black Card Lounge. I'm very happy with their decision to move and update things! read more

I have been going over a year now and I have been satisfied with the staff and facility. It is clean and very rare that a machine is in disrepair. Staff has been professional and friendly which makes a difference to me as I have been to other planet fitness and had the opposite experience. Hours are great. Ha! I went into this gym on 9/13 to get a final tour. Here is how my encounter went and a little info on me. I already know I am 100% signing up for the gym. I already know I NEED a black card membership for the multiple location use. I already know about the classes, times and what they offer. I have done my research very well and was hoping to get a final tour before enrollment after going back and fourth between a gym in Wallingford (24 hours and close to work). After consideration, even though the Wallingford gym was overall better and had way more accommodating options, I decided planet fitness would be better so I wasn't restricted on days off. Now I go into the gym around 1pm on a Tuesday afternoon, its not very busy. I walk up to the counter and was greeted by James. He was nice enough and I was passed off to a Luis or something or other. He had a hyphenated name. I wouldn't remember it because he didn't tell me and from the moment I met him I was annoyed. I handed him my ID with my name on it and he asked me multiple times how to spell it... As I said, I went in with an agenda, so I began to tell him why I was there. Mid sentence another customer walked in and he turned his back to me to help them. When he was done I repeated what I had said because he obviously wasn't listening to me, which became more evident as the tour went on. In the process of still standing at the counter reiterating what I had JUST said, another customer walked is and he turned to help them, leaving me standing there awkwardly for multiple minutes. FINALLY, he walked from around the corner and I decided to just sum up what I had already said twice. Certain things were important for me to see while I was there. At this point before my tour even started im annoyed with this staff member. He walks me over to the class board (Which I had now said twice that none of the times worked for me at all whatsoever). He spends the majority of the tour here which annoys me because I stood there telling him that I couldn't possibly go to any of the classes. Here is how our convo went as close as possible. May not be 100 percent accurate as I could barley hear a thing he said. Him: This is the class board. Me: I have seen the schedule on line and determined the classes are all at hours that I will not be here. Him: Yeah but theres classes all over I mean you could always go to this one or this one. Me: ...... I go to school from 9am to 1pm and would be here from about 1:20 to 3. NONE of theses classes fit into my schedule. I also work 4 to 8 and there are no classes that late. Him: Yeah but I mean you could make it work. Me: ... Also your Friday classes end by the time I would be here so there is literally NO classes for me so lets move on here. Then I made the mistake of asking him about a personal trainer. Some gyms have a trainer there you can "Rent" through the gym. Him: Well all of these blocks (In the times I will not be at the gym) are times James does something like personal training. Me: I just looked at him at a loss for words. I had just gone over this all 4 times. After we got away from the board, which I thought would never happen, He showed me the 30 minute room, some "Other" equipment and the rest of the gym I looked at from afar. I would have liked someone knowledgeable to take my hand and explain what each section does, as I am gym illiterate. He showed me briefly the black card suite, where I asked him about a piece of equipment he had zero knowledge about. He just stared at me and said no we don't have that here. (you do) Did I mention this man did not walk with me, but in front of me, and when he did speak I could hardly hear him. We returned to the counter and I said thank you have a good day. I was dragged back to talk about signing up. If he had listened to me in the first place he would know I was all set. On a scale from 0 to 5 stars, it deserves a 1 because it is a clean facility and equipment was okay. Such a shame Planet fitness. read more

Ok, so I'm torn about my review; I love the staff and the cardio area, but I hate the PF corporate idea around getting in shape and the lack of space for free weights. I understand PF's whole marketing idea around "no lunks" and "judgement free", but you ARE a gym after all. For anyone who reads anything (books, magazines, online articles) about fitness, you'll constantly read how important free weights are - whether you're trying to build muscle, burn fat or both - to getting in shape. However, PF feels the need to load up on weight machines that lock you into a set pattern of movement, not allowing for the assister muscles to come into play. I would love to see PF remove some of the weight machines (that NO ONE seems to use) and allot more room to free weights (open floor space, adjustable benches). No matter what time of day you go into PF, you have 20 people trying to squeeze into the area where the free weight benches are - an area made for 5 people, tops. There must be 3 rows of about 10 - 12 machines each, and the most I've ever seen being used at 1 time were about 10 machines (out of about 30 total). Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of having the smaller fenced-off area with MORE weight machines?? So my review of PF for weights is about a 1. I do have to say that I LOVE the fact that they have a ton of cardio equipment, and no matter what time of day you go in you can always find an open treadmill or elliptical machine to workout on. I would give PF a 5 for cardio equipment. I do have to say that the staff is very friendly, so this is no reflection on them - this is more of a complaint about PF Corporate than it is about PF Naugatuck. PF can go a long way toward being a great gym if they would simply remove 1/3 of the weight machines that never get used, allot more room to free weights and keep the cardio equipment like it is. read more

Joined with a $99.00 for the year membership. Compared to other planet fitness's I've been to this doesn't seem very clean. Looks like they took old equipment from another gym and installed it without cleaning it first. The staff won't look up from the pc/phone/magazine they are reading to greet you and asking a question will get you dirty looks. I was expecting more from a planet fitness. It's worth dealing with for $99. But I wouldn't want to pay more. read more

I've been going here for years, but recently there is new management so I really felt I had to write a review. Prior to the new manager I would have given this place 4 stars. I liked it, it was clean, the people where nice. Since the old manager left it is not clean at all. I use the tanning booths as well and I have to say, as of yesterday, I was completely grossed out. You can tell things have not been cleaned in a while. The whole place is not as clean as it used to be and the workers all stand behind the counter and do nothing-and are not very pleasant. I know the old manager went to Waterbury. I may have to follow her.......no longer a happy customer. read more

I went to cancel my membership in January 2020. I was told by the woman at the desk that I neednto come back mid month in March. If I cancel before that I would get charged the annual fee also. So I waited until this week to drive back there just to cancel. Hayley at the desk told me Since its mid month I will be charged for March and no refund on the annual fee. I explained to Hayley and Monica what was said to me. I was told they don't train their people to ever say that. No employee would ever say that. So I asked so you are calling me a lair? No, just saying no one would say it. Customer service is extremely important to me. They way Monica and Hayley handled the situation was beyond rude. So I got roped in to paying membership for February and March, and the annual fee again. All because "no one" at PF would ever.say that to a customer. Well they did and I have found a much better place to exercise. Now to go to the Better Buisness Bureau because I feel they are misinforming people so they get to collect more money. read more

I am not a gym rat, workout snob or exercise guru. I am an average joe who occasionally visits the gym when I get motivated (not often)I have belonged to several gyms in various towns including other branches of planet fitness. The Naugatuck branch of Planet Fitness has a very friendly and attentive staff but the equipment is fairly old and outdated even for a novice. The worst thing there unfortunately is the treadmills. Many are out of service. Most that still "work" often skip while you are running which can be very dangerous and uncomfortable. The price is great for this gym but it would be great to have access to better equipment. read more

Staff is very friendly, they greet you with enthusiasm every check in! any small issue is resolved immediately. facility is always clean. the upgraded facility has great parking, a lot safer and well lit. The new facility is awesome. The facility is more than spacious and the equipment is state of the art and user friendly for those who are new to the gym. The customer service has been outstanding. Dustin took the time to show me around and always makes himself available for questions without making me feel like a bother. The staff is friendly , helpful and really contribute to holding up to the company standard of being a judgement free zone. The Black card area with the tanning, hydromassage tables and massage chairs alone make it all worth your money and are a nice treat for after your workout. Keep up the great work! read more

I've been a member for 3 and 1/2 years and will remain so. The new facility, which opened this week, is beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The staff remain, as always, friendly, polite and responsive. All of the machines are new and easy to operate. The building is clean and well ventilated. And, of course, the price is right! My only suggestion would be to add more full-time staff in both the training and maintenance depts. It would be helpful to have staff circulating in order to address concerns and safety issues. More maintenance staff makes sense to me given that the new building is twice the size of the old one. Good job, PF! read more

Is a decent gym for a cardio junky. They have the most treadmills I've ever seen plus a good assortment of ellipses and bikes. I also rarely ever saw a machine broken down for an extended period of time. They have a generous area for their free weights as well. They do have some cons that resulted in me canceling my membership. First, even with a ton of cardio machines you will find it hard to find one during peak hours. Second, the parking situation is unacceptable. I'm not sure if the parking lot is under their control to upgrade but it is really bad. Spots were limited and there were potholes in the pavement. During the winter they end up losing more spots as the snow piles up. read more
