This gym has finally gotten the face-lift it needed. I imagine it is to compete with the many new gyms opening up. The renovations opened up the stretching area to be more usable and the new machines offer more availability. Waiting on limited machines had deterred me from this gym previously. Literally this is probably the worst ran planet fitness I've ever seen. Most of the employees are absent meaning random people just walk in. This is not the first issue I've had with this planet fitness apart from wasting my money on a black card membership just to not be able to use the chairs I'm paying for!! This Planet Fitness is always very clean and the staff is always friendly and help hype you up a little before a workout! It doesn't get too busy. The parking lot is big so you never have to worry about finding a spot or paying for parking. They always have the fridges stocked with water and protein shakes. Definitely a great place to workout even if you are a beginner. They have classes and great instructors. Its a very friendly environment to get healthy! read more

My wife's car just got broken into here while she was inside for 20min. Nothing was in her car. The thief got nothing and we have two smashed widows and damaged doors. Go to this gym if you want your car broken into! Seriously though fuck this place. Apparently people have had lockers broken into here too, and the parking lot and lockers are "not the responsibility of planet fitness" lol so good luck getting your stolen/damaged car/items replaced In reply to your reply, a police report has been filed, and if caught the offender will be prosecuted. However, he was breaking into our car looking for cash as nothing was taken. This being said the offender probably has no money to be sued for damages, thus I am out all repair costs or responsible for filing an insurance claim which will raise my insurance rates. All because planet fitness can't hire a security guard. I will never return to this location and I will advise anyone contemplating going here to steer clear of overland in general. read more

I strolled in from out of town to get my workout on, my first impressions were awesome! I was greeted by a very happy manager who opened the door for me and wished me a great workout. The staff behind the counter was a different story... no one knew who was what.. how to "check me in" or which tanning bed was occupied. My "happy vibe" was going downhill fast! Just came back from trying to sign up to Planet Fitness and was very disappointed. When signing up they ask for a credit card and my bank routing information. I asked repeatedly why they need my bank information if they were only charging my credit. Come to find out that after two months a charge of $54 {an annual fee) would be taken from my checking account. As I struggled to understand why they needed both account information it came out they they wouldn't be charging my credit card the monthly fee, that it would actually be deducted from my checking account. As I pressed then to know why did they need my credit card info, no one could give me a straight answer. I wanted to join and have the monthly fee paid through my credit card like other clubs I've been a part of in the past, but apparently Planet fitness can't do that though they want that credit cad info. WHY?????? If they were to be hacked, and they have in the past, both my banking and credit card info would be vulnerable. But what bothers me the most is that at first they were telling me the charges would be taken from my credit card when all along they knew it would be taken from my bank account. This location is so clean! The staff are great and keep everything running smoothly. Plenty of space and equipment for everyone. The spa is nice and private. The parking lot is huge, so you'll always find a spot. The best thing about this PF is the showers. They're enormous stalls with private changing areas for each one. Shower heads are rainfall. While the staff is fine, you really get what you pay for here. As a young woman weight lifting, there were many inappropriate encounters/advances from some of the other clientele. For someone who comes here everyday to take showers...these showers are never cleaned. Constant ball of pubic hairs and clogged drains from peoples left over waste. I'm not the type to leave bad yelp reviews but I'm in constant disgust trying to simply take a shower. I'm homeless myself and I can say that my hygiene is a lot better then most people here that come to use the showers. I think the showers need to be washed more often then once or twice a day and need to be more up to date when other people come in to use them. I shouldn't have to walk around deciding which shower is the least disgusting to use. I've worked at a plant fitness before and it isint that hard nor time consuming to clean one. Please take better care of cleaning the showers as some people do not have the luxury to have there own, thanks. read more

I enjoyed my time here. Usually when I go to gyms trainers come up and correct you which I hate. I think what I liked about this place is that it's 24 hours. I think this gym is good to start off. Everyone from different sizes and background was here. I like it. And they let guest come in as much as possible because they value the importance of accountability. I really like that part because it really helped me get into shape. People are pretty nice and a police car sit outside so I feel pretty safe. I like this gym and it is highly recommend. I really enjoy going here. Equipment is super clean, the locker rooms are awesome. The showers are the best model of showers Planet Fitness offers in any of their locations. The atmosphere is also really good! Two minor things annoy me a little, but they are so minor. One being the front desk people.... I have yet to arrive and have them seem like they even remotely like their jobs. But i'm there to work out, not make friends with staff. Secondly, many times I find myself working out with zero music. This location has a lot of time where there is no sound coming out of the stereo system at all. Or it cuts to the interviews about the planet fitness scholarship or something. This is the only location that i came across that does this. Over all though, great location!!!! read more

Husband and I were way skeptical of this place. We bought a house near the area and this was just a quick trip down 170...but you all have probably read the terrible press PF gets. We aren't "lunks" by any means, but we take our fitness seriously and although a brand new gym is awesome, one with a ton of cardio equipment that's lacking elsewhere just won't cut it. We were out one Saturday before we moved and decided to stop in for a tour. That 15 minute tour was all we needed to decide this would be our new gym. Brand new equipment (yes, TONS of cardio) but I'm talking about strength training equipment--some I'd never seen before, more Smith machines than a typical gym has...pretty much everything you need and if they don't have it, it's really easy to get crafty with all they do have. Front desk staff is awesome: always very welcoming and since they know our last name by now, they have us checked in as we're coming through the door. Having quality tanning at the gym is another huge plus. We were able to cut our tanning memberships and save time. Plenty of beds...all are what you'd consider "upper level beds" at a regular tanning facility. Massage chairs are nice to use sometimes; have yet to try out the water massage beds. Locker room is very clean and nice. Water fountains have the water bottle sensors, which makes filling up your bottle really easy. All in all, this is a great place to train. If you're a super serious bodybuilder, this isn't the place for you. If you're a Crossfitter, this isn't the place for you, either. It's basically for everyone except those who like to lift super duper heavy, drop things, and do weird things (Crossfitters, this means you!) and I'm cool with that. This gym couldn't be better if they tried. Staff are helpful and everything you need is there in abundance. Sign up was quick and easy, no typical (read sleazy) gym sales / tactics. I literally walked in, and signed up in less than 5 mins. Walking in everyday I was greeted, and walking out said goodbye to. They're so uniform about it that it almost becomes uncomfortable. But its genuine enough. No daycare, no major frills, just everything you need to get your sweat on and for a reasonable price. Speaking of sweat, plenty of spray bottles and paper towels around to keep the equipment clean. I was really surprised to read bad reviews about this location, seeing as I loved it! I recently moved out to LA full time, and the PF locations here are awful in comparison. The staff at this location is phenomenal! Everyone knew my name, greeted me in and out of the gym, knew which tanning beds I liked to use and how long I would go-- above and beyond with customer service. The manager is the model example for them, too. He's always present and friendly, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the facility, his staff, and you. In addition, you always see the staff walking around cleaning up and checking on the guests, greeting others by name, having brief chats. Very welcoming. As far as the facility itself-- tons of space, tons of equipment, very clean. If you have a problem with this location, I guarantee you're some weird gym snob. I invite you to try out the LA locations, and then go running back to Overland. I wish I could move the gym here with me; I miss the staff!! read more

I have to admit, I was skeptical. I had heard really negative things about Planet Fitness in national media stories over the past couple of years. But, apparently, each location is franchised independently, so it all depends on the local management. Things you will love about this place: - enormous facility - more than enough machines - huge, sparkling clean locker rooms and showers - clean, well maintained equipment - friendly, welcoming staff - free guest passes - extra amenities (for the $19.99 option) including massage chairs and tanning beds So far, this place is way better than past gyms where I have been a member. I still can't figure out why this place is so cheap compared to other gyms in the area. I was quoted $140/mo. for a comparable gym in the area, and $50/mo. for a local community fitness center. This place is only $10 a month for their basic plan! That's crazy cheap. When I arrived, I asked for a tour and the guy who assisted me was very warm and welcoming. I can see how a first time gym goer would appreciate this approach. Having joined other gyms, I was prepared for him to give me the "hard sell" but he never did. He clearly laid out the two membership options and what is included with each. That was it. Easy. I have only one piece of negative feedback - the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. They do not let you pay by credit card/cash. I have security concerns about providing my banking account info, giving them unfettered access to my funds. In addition, they would not allow me to pay for a year in advance for the $19.99/mo. membership. (They do allow prepayment for the $10/mo. option.) I was not given a reason why they accept prepay for one plan, but not the other. If they change this policy in the future, I'll give them the full 5 stars. I had my first workout this morning and had such a great time, I wanted to stay longer. I am looking forward to tomorrow morning when I get to go again. read more

The staff does not enforce the gym rules the same for all members. Some can have bags.. some can't. Some can have water jugs... some cant. And if you question them about it they get defensive. Some staff are nice and other have bad attitude and seem like they do not want to be there or know anything about customer service read more

The location of the gym is very convenient for my workouts, to and from work. I especially liked working out in the mornings before work, my only complaint is the women showers. They are EXTREMELY CLEAN, but the hot water, or SUPPOSE to be hot water, is HORRIBLE. I've complained multiple times, and possibly so have other females. It's not COOL taking lukewarm or cold showers in the Winter!!!!! But I enjoyed the gym, the staff is very professional. read more

I am not a gym-goer (I'm a rock-climber by preference), but I found myself in St. Louis for three weeks with WAY too much time on my hands and not enough money for a rock climbing gym. So I walked into the Planet Fitness in Overland and signed up for a month of Black Membership. If I weren't such an avid climber, I would totally convert to someone who goes to this Planet Fitness weekly. Here's why: 1. Value: For only $20 a month, you get access to any PF anywhere, access to tanning, access to the massage beds (AMAZING), and a free guest whenever you want. How do you beat this? 2. Environment: the desk staff are SUPER friendly and genuinely helpful ("Hi" when I walk in, "C'ya later!" when I walk out). The location itself feels very open and clean (not dingy and claustrophobic). There are enough machines and weights for EVERYONE. The locker rooms are very well maintained. In addition, the whole "judgement-free zone" thing is a great angle. Personal fitness is really personal and it's intimidating to walk into a gym when you feel like you're an overweight scrub. But you walk into this Planet Fitness and you get the feeling like there's a no tolerance policy for judgment. It's great. I understand that not all Planet Fitness locations are this way, but this one is EXCELLENT. read more

I have been going there since they opened a couple years ago. When I started I was very overweight and was nervous about going. I found it to be a very non-threatening atmosphere. The gym had plenty of equipment and lots of times to go when there aren't as many people there. In my first year there, I lost 100 pounds by going almost every day. Now I am not as diligent but I always feel good when I come back there. The staff is friendly and the facilities are clean. The price is also very good-even for the black Card member (allows you unlimited guest pass access to massage bed and chair, tanning). read more

good luck cancelling membership. been trying for 3 months to stop automatic deductions from debit card. 1st wrote formal letter and received call that this wasn't my "home gym" even though bank statements clearly note is was. Then filed Better Busiess complaint and they stated I would not be charged after July. Guess what- charged again in Aug. Requested refund for at least Aug but haven't received and will probably charge me this week for Sept. Do NOT give them a debit card as little recourse to stop or recoup as with credit card. read more

I too had bad experience speaking with Jessica and for that matter any other person there. They want to get you in there and want to charge your card every month but they don't want to give good customer service. I even was given the email of the district manager emailed him with my complaint and have never heard anything back from him. Then when I did cancel my membership they still charged me for the yearly fee which my bank took care of. Apparently they don't believe in customer service. read more

I love this gym but I've went many times to find it closed when they should be open. Got up early the day after Christmas and drove all the way there and they were closed. I've had at least 5 other times that I've arrived there and found it closed so 24 7 not true! They told me it was closed for cleaning a couple of the times when I found it closed. This used to be my Planet Fitness before I moved. I never realized what a luxury the individual cardio TVs were until I went to a city where the only options are neck-craning overhead TVs and no channel choice. Overland, MO, Planet Fitness has some issues--the staff turnover is just ridiculous, it's not in the greatest of neighborhoods, and some people just sit at machines looking at their phones. Overall, though, I wish I were still coming here. I miss GSN, AMC, and Lifetime while cranking out 800 calories on the arc trainer. read more

This is a nice gym, very clean, friendly staff. I really love going here but might have to change soon. The management simply doesn't enforce their own rules. The have a big sign that say, 'Cell phone conversations in the lobby only." Almost every time I am there, people are all over the gym, on the cardio stuff...just chatting away...LOUDLY and many times OBSCENELY. The F word and MF word are used frequently in these phone conversations. I have asked the management to talk to someone about this...and they just don't. They walk right by people doing this and say nothing. Okay if they don't want this rule, they should take down the sign and we will all just use our phones and annoy each other. read more

This is the cleanest gym I have ever been to. The people can be a little overwhelming when you come in, but overall everyone really nice. I come here pretty much everyday and the crowd is tolerable. The trainers that have worked here are awesome! Right now there is a trainer named Dylan and he is great! He is very knowledgeable and down to earth. I love this location and really enjoy working out here. It is the cleanest gym around and everyone is super friendly. I have never had to wait to use a machine and I have been there when it is pretty busy. Free tanning and massage beds are a nice touch. This gym really is no intimidation, I always feel super comfortable. I also love that I can bring a buddy for free whenever I want.
