The issue I have is not the facility itself. The issue is with aspects of the summer policy where high school students (14 to 19 year olds) can work out free during the summer. The program is poorly managed, if they manage it at all. This program has made this gym a hang out for unsupervised teens. I'm not talking about inside the gym, i'm talking about outside the front doors and parking lot. My wife and I pulled into a spot near the front door. We sat there for about 30-45 minutes while our phones charged before going in. There were 10-15 teens hanging out outside the front door. Yelling obscenities and racial slurs at each other. There was also a strong majaurana smell in the air as well. Then these teens started running around the parking lot chasing each other. PF employees at the counter, inside, periodically looked outside, but never came out to do anything. We decided to leave rather than go in because we no longer felt safe there. I understand the "giving back" aspect of the program, but, PF has a responsobility to provide supervision if they are going to promote a program where minors can be on the premises without parents. PF is a well equiped gym, clean and well structured, the only problem is that people have lost respect for fellow users in other words there is no Gym Etiquette. Let me explain - People are not using machines to train but to pass time on their phones, not giving a damn about people waiting to use them, happened to me last week when a guy was on the machine for over 20 minutes playing games, that was after I asked him how many sets he had left and he said 2., this happens everytime I go to the gym, I have a suggestion to make, the passage way behind the treadmills could be lined up with couches so the people could train their thumbs in luxury and comfort and not bothering people that want to train the rest of the body. I really dislike making public reviews like these... but I've been a member with Planet for about 5 years. I visit all throughout all the Houston area. Try to make it in at least 3x a week. Started my membership in Katy, and now visit the two locations in the Pearland area. I drive approximately 20-25 minutes to the gym. This particular night I brought my 2 sons (one on my black card) other High schooler. This particular night a gentleman I'd never seen work here before I believe his name being Kendrick. Approached one of my boys about having crocks. Mind you I've gone more than 20x with crocs. So I checked the website, note it doesn't say anything on website about about not being able to wear crocs. (Not open toed) Mind you if I'd ever known I'd have never left the house otherwise. No where on website does it say this, nor on the door, nor any email, about any updated terms/policies. Instead he demanded my son not participate on any area of the gym. I told him I was going to cancel, he then presumed and pushed me to cancel more than 5x. I'd think I'd have more courtesy especially being a member of your gym for so long. His customers service was nothing about customers but instead going around bullying people, Planet needs to update policies, and make people aware of these changes instead of pushing paying customers out the door, never did he apologize, nor say hey I'm not the one but the companies policies. The light weight dumbbell weights are always taken and I finally asked management if they could get an additional tree and mirrors for another section since there's always a line/wait to use but they denied it. This gym is too busy for the size it is and management won't make any changes to help accommodate the volume of people vs available equipment. If I could give negative stars, I would! The manager "Stephanie" is not only rude, disrespectful and racist, she also enjoys harassing patrons that come to the gym. She followed me and my husband into the tanning room, she banged on the door after I closed and locked it and when I asked who it was she continued to bang on the door without answering. When I opened the door she walked into the room and told me only one person was allowed to tan at a time. My husband is black, clearly he doesn't tan. I explained that he was only there to help me apply tanning lotion on and that he would leave to get a massage while I tanned once he's helped me. She she shook her head and said she didn't "care whatever we had going on" he needed to leave and when I asked her to give us a minute to collect our things, she proceeded to say "I'm canceling y'all's membership"... at this point we just didn't care anymore as this was quite a frequent situation we found ourselves in when she's around. Recently I was in this fitness center. I check in, go to the locker room, change clothes, lock my locker, and head on to the gym floor. I get on the ArcTrainer at 1:50PM and finish at 2:20PM, and then head back to the locker room. When I get to my locker I find the lock has been removed and my wallet has been stolen. When I first entered before my workout there were two young men in the locker room playing video games on the phone. They were not dressed to work out, so I thought it weird for them to be in the locker room. I am not saying that these two young men did the job. I am just saying that they were suspicious looking. I immediately went to the counter, reported the theft, found the two on treadmills, and of course they denied everything. In the meantime, 45 minutes after I had entered the gym three of my credit cards had charges at Best Buy, 5 Guys, Target, and Advance Auto. Someone took that wallet after busting open my locker and handed it off to someone outside and immediately handed off the cards to go on a spending spree. The point of this review is to identify an issue. This Planet Fitness allows anyone to enter. With three staff members at the counter, maybe one of them could walk through, especially the locker rooms, to see what kind of activity is going on. Why would they allow someone who may not look dressed to work out hang out in the locker room? I know Planet Fitness is not liable, and it's my responsibility to account for my belongings. But this gym is so over crowded. I had a tough time using this facility this past summer. They were allowing high school students to use the gym for free. This really overcrowded the place and allowed for students to just hang out. More staff to help protect it's loyal customers would have been nice. I was member, since 2009, until this event. So far Planet Fitness looks to be a beautiful gym with great equipment but they are definitely having some growing pains. PF Pearland opened just 3 days ago and I have been twice now. Each time there have been very long lines to check in that are pretty slow moving. This morning after waiting about ten minutes to check in with 20+ people still ahead of me I just walked in and worked out then came back and checked in when the line was not as long. I really love the 30 minute circuit that offers a total body workout along with the 360 circuit. And I will totally be using the assisted pull up machine to help me finally achieve my first pull up! The gym is clean and of course all the machines are brand new and in great condition. And there sure are a lot of machines! There are many classes offered but the majority are during the work day. The schedule seems to alternate with mornings on Monday and Friday, evenings Tuesday through Thursday and nothing on the weekends. There is only one trainer so the schedule is pretty limited. There is a limit of 5 people per class so already the classes outside of work hours are booked a few weeks in advance. We were told in the future you can book online or on the app but since neither are up and running yet you have to book with the front desk. The staff was very nice but seems like they are all still learning. It took me 30 minutes to get two classes booked. With the black card membership comes access to the spa which I was super excited about. There are no instructions posted anywhere telling you how to get set up with a hydromassage so you have to wait I. The long line at the front desk again to be told that you have to find a chair that is not being used, report the number to the front desk and they will turn it on for you. No one checked your membership information so anyone can use them, regardless if you have a black card or white card. There are 4 chairs and one is already broken. The huge problem with that system, other than not being communicated, is there is not a wait list. So you just have to hover around like a creeper until you see someone leave a chair and hope you can report to the front desk before one of the other creepers also waiting. And even then I saw someone go to the front desk and request an unoccupied chair be turned on, then by the time he got back to the spa someone else was already in it using his time. It's just not very efficient and pretty frustrating. Hopefully they will come up with a better system in the future. They also have some infrared body enhancements. I had asked the staff to explain what it was and she did. But what she explained didn't seem to make much sense so I googled it and seems like a lot of things the staff said was inaccurate. So more staff education would be really helpful. They also offer free pizza the first Monday of the month and free bagels and coffee the second Tuesday of the month. Overall I think Plant Fitness is going to be a good gym once everything gets settled in, especially considering how cheap the memberships are. read more

I was quickly reminded today why I closed my account with planet fitness many years ago. I opted in for auto payments the 2nd of this month, which was also the same day I signed up, to be taken from my account. Like many others have posted, I also received a notice via text that my payment had not been made and they would waive the late fee if I made a payment. I found this odd as I saw the day before they processed my monthly payment. I called and spoke to a lady who told me they would waive the late fee if I came in and made a payment. I explained to her that I already paid and could submit proof. She then stated that my account and routing number was wrong so they charged my credit card. I knew that was bs because I use auto fill for this exact reason. Late fee because y'all pulled the money late? Oh ok. She told me to wait for the "manager" to contact me. I called back to speak to such manager and he basically told me and I quote "it sounds like you are the one having a problem not us" no s***. Believe the reviews. I'm filing a complaint with BBB. Rebuttal to your response: Your claim that my club is compliant is false. Next time I will take pictures and upload them for everyone to see. Failure to IMPLEMENT the ban incurs a $1000 fine per occurrence. I saw at least 5 people today without a mask at all. I can also forward the evidence to our county HHS and sheriff's department. I'll also report this franchisee location to PF corporate. I would appreciate you prompt resolution to this issue. It's great to have a lower cost gym option nearby. This one does pizza from Papa John's and bagels once a month to make sure you have an excuse to come back and visit. More on this in a bit. The facility itself is very nice and new. There's a ton of equipment, and even when it's swamped with people, you can usually find something open. The equipment is fairly basic though. You won't find many options for programming, or you have to do things manually, but everything seems to be in good working order. The TRX and 360 options are pretty nice as well to change up your routine. There's some free weights, but no barbells, so this can be limiting. There's a lot of TVs to keep you distracted from a grueling workout, and the black club vip section lets you get massages if that was just too grueling. Staff is relatively friendly, but lines can get backed up sometimes. As for the food, I'm not really sure how this works. I showed up Monday evening to find some boxes of pizza laying out, but wasn't sure if they get restocked or not. All of it disappeared pretty quickly, though there were a couple boxes stashed away at the front desk, maybe for the staff? Lots of people went away empty handed, so pizza night probably needs some rework. read more

I have been trying to get in contact with this location since the beginning of the pandemic to cancel my membership because I no longer live in HOUSTON OR NEAR A PLANET FITNESS. Reading these reviews, I feel like people just want something to fuss about. I've been going to the club faithfully the past 3 months and they have been doing an awesome job. I see people cleaning machines in between uses and the staff are constantly cleaning and wearing their masks. There was a point when we had to have masks on but at machines they allowed us to take them off, but that has changed. Masks have to remain in the whole time. I frequent this gym as much as I can during the week to get in some form of exercise .I like the new location have never had an issue .however poor service is intolerable .the young lady working at the desk today when I visited the gym at 1:30 PM, LAURE was quite rude and insufficient. she lacked customer service skills and critical thinking making customers wait to check in while she attended two customers who needed more time and attention one must multitask. While she was attending to a gentleman I placed my tag on the counter and stepped back so she could scan it while still attending to the gentleman.instead she made me wait until she was done speaking with the gentlemen (about 2-3 mimutes) and then looked at me blankly as if to say I needed to hand her the tag to be scanned in. I recently switched from another local gym. When I tell you the gym is super clean, I am telling no lie. The front desk staff is exceptional. The clients clean up after themselves when they are done with the equipment. The equipment is nicely kept, new, and clean. I called around several local gyms to find out what they're COVID-19 protocols. were and I decided upon planet fitness because they clean hotspots every 20 minutes and mask are mandatory. I found it to be very comfortable considering our new normal that right now. I am super excited that I decided to open a membership at this gym and I cannot wait for my next workout session. There are so many fees here. I paid over $40.00 of yearly fees in October 2019. I paid $30.00 a month. I didn't go because I was not seeing any classes. The machines were OK, but after coming from LA fitness CA, the machines had no ear plugs to listen to TV. I decided to end my membership in February 2020, and I had to pay $68.00 just to terminate. In LA Fitness I paid no entrance or exit fees nor yearly fees. A lot of money lost for a gym that has the vibe of old. The customer service is unfriendly. She been giving me the run round since September 2021 saying she needs to speak to higher management. Planet fitness is a scam. During the worst time of the year, planet fitness decides to scam money from their loyal customers. Instead of calling, emailing, or even mailing their customers,they decided to charge and withdraw money out of customers account. My story... my membership was up in April, due to Covid-19 I was unable to go up to planet fitness to cancel my membership. When they opened back up they decided to take money out of my account without at least getting in touch with me to see if I wanted to continue my membership or not. Contacting my customers is what I would've done so I could continue to gain the trust of my loyal customers. If I was able to rate this company with zero stars, I would have. Planet Fitness is a great addition to Pearland. It's bran new so all the equipment is clean and in great working order. My one complaint is that all the TVs can't be heard when you plug into the treadmills. I informed staff of this & was told a technician would need to be contacted to resolve the problem - after 2 weeks I'm still waiting. They've stepped up their customer service since the last time I came down in July. Before, the front desk associates were off in their own world, socializing and laughing amongst themselves. Anyone off the street could've hypothetically walked in and used the gym. But now they've actually got people who acknowledge you and tell you to have a good workout. That's a really good step in the right direction. However, they need to work on their cleaning a little bit, especially in a pandemic. The trash cans are often full, at times overflowing with paper towels, and unlike the PF I go to back home, I haven't seen the employees walking around doing housekeeping. Twice now in the ladies locker room, the sink counter and mirrors have been covered with water. I know it (clearly) doesn't matter to most people, but it should matter to the management and staff of this facility. Lastly, there's a reason why people choose Planet Fitness as their gym, and usually it's because they don't want to workout in a "bro" environment where people grunt, shout, and slam weights around. I've encountered all of that at this gym. I know it's hard to control, but again it's the first time I've been to a PF where that happens. Overall I think this location is improving. read more
