THE NEW PLANET FITNESS IN HOME DEPOT PLAZA 1. I was told yesterday that i can't wear me Crocs Well i wear them because they are soft and i have lower back disc problems and my Neurologist told me to wear them And WHY can't i wear my crocs while others are walking around in their socks ?!?!!!? 2. The bathrooms are new and appear to be clean, as opposed to the Dump called Crunch which is filthy 3. The shower curtains are TOO SMALL and don't cover the opening And why do they have a curtained place in front of the actual shower stall but 1 hook and no bench to put your clothing on ‍‍ 4. The new PF has almost 2 of most equipment, while crunch has 1 of many and OFTEN their crap equipment is broken and takes SEVERAL MONTHS to be repaired 5. People who are paying extra. The so-called black card because there are hydromassage beds and extra amenities should be able to come to expect that. Now the one in Hanover is shutting it down for some odd time. Nobody knows when that's gonna be a back up and the one in Hanson mass all of a sudden the Hydro Massaage beds aren't working. This is not acceptable. You need better maintenance people to get on it. Don't advertise a lot of stuff and then don't come through with it. It makes you look really bad. I cancel my membership before the 17 that is when the payment automatically is taken out of my account. On the 17 the payment was taken out for 30.06. I called my bank to dispute the charge, plus show them the email showing I cancelled my membership. They contact Planet Fitness and my bank account was credit back. Then on February 26 this time Planet Fitness charged my bank account 45.06. It has been two weeks still waiting for Planet Fitness to return my money back. Then I contacted the BBB, which they contact Planet Fitness. They are not responding back to the BBB. I told my bank any future charges for Planet Fitness to be refuse. This place stole my money. I am letting everyone know what they did plus I have proof from my bank account. If i can give less no star I would have. As you can see the response I received from Planet Fitness stating I need to cancel my membership by the 10th and it is stated in the contact. In the system when I cancel there should be reminder stating if cancel today or after the 10 there will be still a charge. Better yet you will you be charged but have until the 30 days to enjoy the gym. Instead of ok to cancel but you cannot longer go to the gym because you cancel. There's an odd, bad smell. The smell literally gave me a headache. The first time I went the women's locker room was flooded, at least a half inch of water in the bathroom/showering area and the whole gym smelled of sewer. This gym is FILTHY. It looks like it's never been cleaned. The bathrooms are disgusting and the showers literally look white from hard water build up. I never see workers cleaning, they just stand around at the front desk and talk. The machines are rusted. All around, I am not a fan of this gym. read more

They have to come out with a no star review. So because of a three month health crisis, I was not able to enjoy my starting weekend. I stayed in all day didn't eat much and took a long nap. I finally got myself together and wanted to pick my spirits up by going to planet fitness, upon arriving there and walking down the long sidewalk that has a big open window so you can see people coming 2-3minutes ahead of time I walk in to the customer service guy Jake talking with his girlfriend so I stand there and he ignores me and I walk past and then he starts yelling you have to sign in. I told him I'd be back and he continued to yell. No, you have to sign in now so leaving two or three customers at the counter he comes and chases me back to the treadmills and let me know that I have to sign in or he'll call the police. I tell him here's my phone number he can punch me in. He said no you have to come back to the counter. I let him know that he should've thought about that while he was talking with his girlfriend so again he comes back minutes later asking me again to sign in. He bought a device. I thought he was going to take down my number and simply punch me in, but he said he was gonna call the police just because I didn't punch in, I told him several times before that I would punch in before I leave and I have done that on several occasions which he said I don't know you I don't care you have to punch in. So going to the 30 sec. workout room in the back I'm stretching and before I know it I'm surrounded by three policeman and Jake standing there and I tell him, sir if you had not been talking with your girlfriend and doing your job this would've never happened. The police agreed that this was a very trivial call and they started talking about my shoes and asking me were they comfortable. Another customer came up and asked if it were him would he Jake would've called the police on him? all in all it was over the top and very unfair just because he wasn't doing his job. So another customer gave me his number and said if you have any problems, you can use my name and give me a phone call and like the police he agreed that that was over the top to call the police just because I didn't punch in. read more

this is my home gym, i have a black card membership. this gym is super close to home so it's an obvious choice. the staff is generally super friendly as well, and i love using the hydromassage after a workout. my only issue is that there aren't many machines, and they are outdated and sometimes rusted. they fixed the rusty glutes machine within this past month, but again their equipment isn't as modern or diverse as the kingston location. side note - there were rumors of s*x trafficking at this gym. personally i never had an instance where i thought someone was trying to harm me or harass me, but s*x trafficking is a real threat and people go missing even here in the hudson valley all the time. please be safe and diligent! i feel safe at this gym but it's always good to be aware read more

My go-to Planet Fitness in the area! Though the staff can sometimes seem dead-eyed and less-than-enthusiastic to be there, I've enjoyed my workouts here. In my experience, folks are good about wiping down machines and even during busy times I've never had trouble finding a locker or an open machine. Amenity selection is nice, though there is no pool (yes, I know it's not that common but I love having the option at a gym). My big complaint is the hours. It's only 24/7 from midnight on Monday to 10:00pm Friday. There's been many times I've wanted to go for a late-night workout on Fridays or Saturdays only to be out of luck. I called to cancel my membership before any Covid shutdowns. I found out today I am still being charged for the membership. After detailing my conversations from spring and offering to provide telephone records, management (Jesse) had stated they cannot do anything because my contract reads I cannot cancel by phone. He refused to proved me information for the corporate headquarters in New Hampshire stating all complaints are bounced back to the local gym, and that no phone evidence would substantiate any request for refund. This is worse than dealing with an international purchase exchange. The service is unacceptable and they should not be able to operate like this. My next step for any kind of reimbursement is the BBB, since they will not work with me. read more

But when I have to use this one by Marist it like nite and day , this one is disgustingly dirty inside and out. I use the showers because I have to go back to work after my work out . Just so many problems--I actually canceled my membership today because I'm done 1) bathrooms that always smell--most likely plumbing issues 2) going late at night is a pain when make counter associates have their friends hanging out hitting on female clients and blocking the path way getting in and out of the gym. 3) today a PF representative encouraged another member in his Jesus loves you talk--directed at both of us at the counter. I am not religious and even if I was I don't want to hear or be preached at when I'm at a gym I pay to go to. As a fitness facility, it had the necessary equipment to serve my needs and was adequately maintained. I am by no means a fitness fanatic or elite athlete. Nor am I a fan of most popular big box gyms, but as a guest -- my experience at this particular Planet Fitness was extraordinarily typical. Coming in, I knew what to expect. And Planet Fitness surely didn't disappoint. There was absolutely no shortage of cardio machines. Most of the treadmills are annoyingly close to one another -- they're practically an inch away from and are stacked right next to each other. The elliptical and stair climbers were spaced only a tiny bit better, enough to let you do your thing without sweating on the next guy. To be expected, there are only 2 free weight racks. And with the local colleges nearby, oftentimes not enough benches for patrons. As far as weight-lifting equipment, it's average. There are a handful of smith machines, but inconveniently no squat racks. The stretching area is tiny. No mats, no foam rollers, no kettles bells or smaller free weights to perform ab exercises, let alone stretch. The showers are gross. Twice I regretfully decided to shower post-workout. Both times, there was a lack of hot water and water pressure. Not only that but it was very hard water. Meaning, water that had such high mineral content, that it left a very metallic-y taste in my mouth. And also evidenced by the calcium deposits, and soap scum residue left behind after not properly cleaning/maintaining the actual shower stall. The locker room itself was spacious, but noticeably sandy/muddy/not clean. If and when I'm in the area next, I may have to try the Newburgh location. As this was just meh. read more

I'm putting my biggest issue first so people read this: WIPE DOWN THE MACHINES WHEN YOU ARE DONE. I come here at least 10 times a week. Facility is clean (except the bathroom part of the men's locker room), the staff is super friendly, and there are enough cardio machines throughout to accommodate people. I wish they could/would enforce a policy to wipe down the machines after use, though. It's irritating to go to a machine, go to sit down, and then can tell no one has wiped it down... especially when you take the time to wipe everything down after EVERY use. read more

Unfortunately although the facilities are just about par with the rest of the Planet Fitness chains, the female manager is one of the most rude people I have ever come across. Although I have an account on the city, I wanted to pop in for a one-off afternoon workout while visiting family upstate. Not only did she rudely tell me no she was adamant that only unless I sign up for a full membership at that moment she will under no circumstances let me in the gym - no guest pass, no one time fee which I offered to pay. Absolutely nothing. As a matter of fact, she clearly seemed to take pride in how difficult she would make it for me to rejoin a gym I already belong to. Her manner was nothing short of indignant, with a clear necessity for a power trip. The blonde, angry manager did a massive disservice to the rest of the staff who were all very nice, smiley and even tried to help and point out gym rules to her - which she interjected and rudely corrected them as well. This woman needs to remember she is guarding a Planet Fitness and not Fort Knox. Furthermore instead of making the gym $5, she has earned them a bad yelp review and I'll be sure to include to friends and family it's not worth going to a gym branch with such awful management. read more

No judgment zone? What are all those belted oiled up dudes doing as they grunt and convene to admire themselvs? I had a free pass and went here with a friend who trying to control his diabetes with good exercise planning. Most of the treadmills/ellipticals and bikes were either out of service or without working TV monitors. The staff were scarce when it came to finding someone who could help us program an elliptical workout. All the equipment is tightly arranged---so if you have any claustrophobic tendencies...thsi is not the place for you. It was free and I went 3 times---theres probably a really good reason they can offer the $10/mo. membership----its only worth $2 so theres a good profit line for them!!! read more

I cant believe what just happened at planet fitness. im still sitting here like, that really just happened. 9/5/2018. 11:15 am: I have to have/need an elliptical machine to work out. I need a nice, long SLOW chug on high resistance for an hour. no WAY is that an unusual request! and it's an absolutely MUST have for me. then I saw the many, many elliptical machines in this gym, so.....I purchased a membership at planet fitness. 11:55 am: returned in gym wear for my very first elliptical machine workout at planet fitness. 12:01pm: got on an elliptical machine and couldn't figure out what it was doing, was beeping and shutting on and off randomly, changing the resistance level in mid stride and yes, that very resistance change screwed up my knee!!! I told staff. staff response: youre going too slow. I HAVE TO GO SLOW! so apparently,.... planet fitness' elliptical machines are TOO high tech to work right,.. because it's top speed or nothing. how do new people start off at top/or even mid speed? don't new people start off SLOW? WELL? somebody tell me!!!and now less than seven minutes into my membership, I already regret it. YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am JUST so,...so triggered. that right there is an absolutely unbelievable deal breaker. (the crappy, beat-up, half broken, filthy, abused old elliptical machines at the Kingston ymca never broke on me, they went as slow as you wanted, and kept on working. no fluctuations.) I truly believe that what im wanting here is not even remotely approaching the realm of "unusual". well, without an elliptical machine in the building that works correctly at all speeds, I have no need for this gym. 12:08pm. permanently cancelled my membership at planet fitness. This is my "school" gym because it's so close to marist. My home gym is in Newburgh and this one doesn't compare to it. The gym is smaller than the one in newburgh, and never crowded. Therefore if you like the social aspect of the gym too (working out with your friends) the gym may not be for you. It's an overall good gym, the staff is nice (however quite quiet compare to the newburgh staff) and are very informative. If you do not wish to see friends at the gym this quite gym in poughkeepsie might be the place for you. read more

Loved it when I started, then for some reason I was charged 32.00 out of the blue, I have the black card membership (21.99)and have already paid my 39.00$ annual fee. I was a little pissed about being overcharged but figured whatever, it's 9$ no big deal, THEN I was charged another 32$ TWO DAYS LATER. I called to see why this was happening and they said I had insufficient funds in my account (which wasn't true, I had the CORRECT amount in there ready to be taken out (had about 26 in there) but it took the 32 from me the first time either way, then they took 32 again! So I don't understand why they had to take an extra 32 dollars from me??? Regardless, I'll be cancelling my membership and going back to Mike artegas where yeah, they charge more, but atleast they don't charge you random amounts and scam you, and they have a pool and daycare. read more

I would say it is ok. I go pretty much daily during mid morning and it's not busy at that time, which is good. The problem is on the cardio machines, over 50% of the TV's do not work, they either won't turn on, don't get sound or you can't change the channel. The other issue is they have put 1 extra elliptical or treadmill in each row, so all the TV's are to the left of every machine and not center. It really is annoying when running on the treadmill having to look to your side to see the TV, all because they just stuck an extra machine in the row. UPDATE - As of November 16th they have changed all TV's and remotes to an updated version, so great job on their part. read more

The men's room, showers are not only in poor condition but are absolutely filthy, disgusting. The walls and floors obviously have not been cleaned in many months. Hair, mold, soap scum, you name it and you will find it there. The floors are so gross the floors are actually slippery. If the NY Health Department did an inspection they would close this place down. Having been a member of the Lagrange Planet fitness I had no hesitation in switching to this planet fitnesss. What a mistake that was. This gym isn't even worth the 10 dollar membership. It is not clean or kept up on. The bathrooms have a constant dirty smell. It is almost impossible to jump on the treadmill with a working tv. I have witnessed the one trainer during her sessions and she seems so unfriendly! I would never even want to try training with her. This is very different from the Lagrange PF which is very clean with numerous helpful trainers. I have since switched to Crunch and have not looked back. read more

I have been a member the Poughkeepsie Planet Fitness going back 15 years when it was "Worlds Gym". If you know what you are getting into insofar as what the Planet Fitness Franchise is all about you won't be surprised by what the gym has to offer: tons and tons of cramped cardio, limited free weights, no bars and dummy proof machines. Limited liability is what this gym is about. I am still a member so obviously I get what I need from it. Environmentally the place has gone downhill and the term "dump" comes to mind. Bathrooms (at least the Men's Room) are gross: water stops working at times (today it wasn't working but no signs were posted--staff said it would be back in "3 hrs") urinals haven't been cleaned in ages, showers are disgusting and water is undrinkable (the warning signs have come down but trust me, UNDRINKABLE) I used to attend a local "Y" before it closed down and the similarities are shocking. And the Y was eventually condemned I'm pretty certain. I actually miss the "Y" compared to this as at least they had free weights and the water worked. Even the small things have corners cut: Garbage is everywhere on the side of the building and the dumpster area is a huge mess. The parking lot is full of potholes. It would pass for an abandoned lot if the lights weren't on 24 hrs. I don't know if ownership has changed hands. The prior owners never treated the place this way but over the past year the place has gone tremendously downhill. I frequent the Newburgh NY PF here and there and it is 1 million times better as far as cleanliness goes. For $14. 99 you get barely tolerable gym experience and an embarrassment to the PF franchise at least locally where the other PF's offer far better experiences. read more

The work out area is one of the best and the equipment is mostly functional. Some things need attention but your place fits my indoor training needs but the place needs help.. Inside, members leave their stuff, their trash on the floor, the showers are filthy, no soap half the time in the dispensers and the shower heads and stalls need a total facelift.. Lots of grime on the tiles, bases are filthy too... today ... no scale....You are running a business, You have paying customers. You a management and staff.
