The only thing I still hate about this place is I wanna go there to work out and there's always someone sitting on a machine on their phone pausing for a very long time. I had three machines to go and all three machines had someone on it sitting there for at least 10 to 15 minutes, just looking at their phone.Why is this allowed? One of the better Planet Fitnesses in the area that has been around for a while now. I used to come here in high school and nowadays, come here at night time when I can't make it to my main gym that closes at 9pm. Has just about everything you need except squat racks (only smith machine) and limited selection for kettlebells. I like this one because it's 24/7. I honestly only like the Planet Fitness locations that are 24/7. They have a bunch of treadmills, a couple stair masters, and depending on the time you go here, you might not be able to get an assisted squat rack smith machine. This specific location gets busy around 5pm-10pm and usually not many people after 10pm. Membership is quite affordable and good gym to go for the price point. Bathrooms are clean and everyone here seems to be pretty good about wiping down equipment before and after use. read more

Been a member on and off for awhile. Dedicated since to the fitness journey. This is def one of the better locations around. Open 24 hours Monday-Thursday, until 9pm Friday and 7pm on weekends. The space is always clean, where as many commercial gyms sometimes let their practices go a bit. Staff has always been nice here, and the members here in general are super chill. Everyone is willing to help if you need it, I've personally joined in and created a community here. Many of the faces you see everyday become friends after a while. It's nice to push yourself, leave the ego at the door and better yourself. This commercial gym is affordable, black card bring guests to build your own gym squad and keep growing, motivating etc. There are no barbell benches anymore or decline, but they do have assisted racks. Dumbbells to 75#, cables machines and what have you. There are also plenty of treadmills, bicycles, new row machines, hand crank machines, stair masters (10 of them i think i saw). The layout here i prefer over the 2 floor style of the neponset bridge side but we hit different locations all the time but quincy is my favorite. Yes the allure of more expensive, spa like gyms with more advanced equipment has its place but sometimes like Rocky training for Ivan Drago. You got to improvise and get a bit gully with it. You can definitely get a workout plan and routine together with the equipment available and see results. Time, nutrition, dedication and consistency without ego. Talk to people. I use my membership mainly for tanning but I am 100% cancelling when summer starts. Older man running the tanning sign in this morning is really strange and rude he could not explain to me at all why I had to wait 10 minutes (which ended up being 3 minutes) for a booth when the booth I was signed up for was empty. When I questioned him on this he told me angrily twice "come back in ten minutes" and spoke to me as if I was a child who needed to be disciplined....I've never had to "come back in ten minutes" I have really busy mornings and need to be in and out. An older lady with glasses finally explained the situation to which the other man was very rude and had no customer service skills and then continued to loudly yell across the gym at me that I was part of the generation that "needs it yesterday". Somehow they must be allowed to act like this at work by management but it was really disturbing to say the least. The older women joined in saying how awful it was that I asked for someone to properly explain to me why I had to wait 10 minutes for an open booth. Both of them together should go through a customer service course as I see that I am not the first person to have a negative experience with them based on other reviews. read more

A strictly ok and so so well kept facility. I like the size and the overall design of this gym. The cardio machines are plenty a many. The men's room is clean and so are the showers. I am glad they expanded the stretching area. The machines that are broken get fixed pretty fast. So that's a good thing. The only suggestions I would have is there should be more directions for users to clean the cardio machines. I take my time picking a cardio machine to work out on and always clean them before and after I use them. Clearly - half the users think they don't sweat which begs me to question the existence of brains in their heads. And then - the staff. The staff is a 50-50 toss up. Some are really nice. Some - meh! The fact things are in the right place, it's mostly neat and tidy to walk to your equipment - and there aren't kids causing a ruckus - I like this PF out of sheer convenience of being closest to me. read more

I'll start this review by saying, "Don't listen to anybody's opinion about what YOU should like. Go to Planet Fitness, ask for a tour and see for yourself if it's the place for you." Now, onto my review. :) Like a lot of people, when I first heard about Planet Fitness it was from a lot of angry/hate-filled people. They said you can't make gains at PF. They said you can't drop weights at PF without setting off the lunk alarm and getting kicked out. They said the only people who go to PF are people who just want to pretend they're working out... you get the idea. So, at first, I was skeptical about this place. I mean, I'd initially intended to join solely for the cardio equipment, so I knew they had me covered. (I have a home gym in my apartment, but the neighbors are super sensitive when it comes to loud noises, so... no treadmills at home for me.) But, when I walked in and saw all of the weight machines that I'd never be able to fit in my apartment (seated cable rows come to mind) I knew I was in the right place. I literally walked the distance of the gym, turned around and signed up on the spot. The staff has been nothing but kind and courteous to me, and everyone else I've seen come into the gym. The members I've seen in the morning and in the late afternoon are all different, physically, yet all the same in the way they treat one another. (I hate to say something as trite as "It feels like a family," but that's pretty close.) The place is clean and most of the members (that I've seen) wipe down their stations when they're done with whatever machine they were just using. The (men's) locker room has been well maintained and aside from a few potholes in the parking lot across the street, I can't find one thing that needs to be changed. (At the time of this review, they were doing some work on the inside of the gym - making room for tanning booths/beds, I believe. However, in no way did this alter my workout, nor did I see or hear anybody else complaining about it.) So, back to the haters' comments I mentioned: You can't make gains at PF? I saw quite a few members (men and women of varying ages) who would argue against this. OF COURSE you can make gains at PF, it just depends on how intelligently you train. Can you do a 500 lb squat at PF? No. But, if you're at the level where that's the only way you can grow muscle, then no, Planet Fitness is not for you. Don't whine about it, just go somewhere else and take care of yourself. Don't hate on others who aren't on your level. You can't drop weights at PF without setting off the lunk alarm and getting kicked out? I saw someone drop 2 heavy dumbbells to the floor. No alarm. No fire breathing dragons. No ejection from the gym. In fact, nobody even batted an eye at them for doing it. Now, does the staff have to have a word with a member every now and then? Probably. But I've been to other gyms and the only place where people were dropping weights consistently WITHOUT getting spoken to about it was at a Crossfit box. So, if you can't control yourself and absolutely NEED to drop weights on the floor, join a Crossfit gym. (I love ALL training methods, so don't think I'm hating on Crossfit - I'm not.) The only people who go to PF are people who just want to pretend they're working out? Bullshit! Most of the people I see at Planet Fitness are there to get shit done. Period. Are there people who are there to socialize or waste time? Sure. But again, I've been to other gyms and I've seen people walking around, texting or chit-chatting instead of training. They're everywhere. Who cares? They are NOT the majority, and for those of us who go there to work on ourselves, we hardly even notice them. In conclusion, it seems to me that a lot of the hate Planet Fitness gets is baseless and unfounded. It's easy to watch a youtube video by an established fitness model whose sole purpose is to troll the staff, but that is not indicative of the PF atmosphere. So I went down the street and signed up at northeast which was a 2 minute process no bank account needed. Unlike pf who does everything but a colon check. BUYER BEWARE! I tried to sign up on a Saturday, really excited about a clean, huge, new gym in Quincy with plenty of parking open late at night and early in the morning. I checked the website to see that they had a special for $15.00 per month, wow-great price! I called to confirm the price and the hours. The hours were right and the prices was right and was told to come in with my credit or debit card and I could sign up and work out, great right? I told the lady on the other end of the phone I would be paying for one year in full, so 15 per month x 12 months plus the $29 sign up fee it would be 209ish and I would write out a check because I know how these gyms work, they won't ever stop taking money out of your account once you give them access....won't EVER do that again! (Done it twice before). I was told that I couldn't pay in full, they only allow you to pay by credit card or debit card. I told her I didn't have either of those so cash is it, and she told me no and to speak to her manager on Sunday which I did and he seconded that policy. Just so we are clear, I am a customer who wants to give this company money and they wont take it!!! When I grow up I hope to own a business where I can turn down customers, it must be nice. GO TO BAYSHORE IN BRAINTREE ! couldn't believe it, i go to this this gym 5 times a week EVERYONE DOES IT!! but yet I get my membership canceled for thinking it was okay to do it because i saw everyone else do it. but hey who cares if you were a BLACKCARD member for FOUR years right? . ...anyways. this gym is only good for cardio which is always filled up. weights ? yeah they have 3 benches, and 6 smith machines, and dumbells that only go up to 70lbs. one word ? Still a one star gym. Unfortunately, there isn't much to choose from in the Quincy area. I'm going to checkout Northeast Fitness but I went when it was called Quincy Athletic Club and it wasn't worth it then. Maybe a new name means new management? I'll find out soon and write a review. Meanwhile, Planet Fitness is a joke. They brought in more useless machines for people to use. Love it when all the slobs rush to use the new latest machine. They have no clue how to use it, swing around like a toy and then strut off with their chests out as if they somehow got their chests swollen after popping 20 lbs on the tricep press. I've been going in the afternoon and the locker rooms (mens at least) is always out of paper towels? You can find 2-3 rolls at different sports on the floor in the gym but why is the bathroom always out? They bought 4-5 new mats to stretch out on but kept the other ~20 ratty ones. Why not just replace them all? People are still nasty. You'll see a guy walk around barefoot in the locker room. He'll go to the toilet stall barefoot and step in all the pee that's leaked on the floor, then come back, put his feet on the bench then rub lotion on his toes and touch everything else. What is wrong with some people? Mainly it's the old folks that do this too and with their weakened immune system, no wonder I see the ambulance here every couple weeks. I've gotten yelled making too much noise on the smith machine. I would rack the bar by using the hook and it's obviously metal on metal so there will be some noise. Yet, the overweight lady using the lat pull downs to work her biceps is yelling at me for making too much noise. Lots of crossfitters go here. Doing all sorts of useless exercises. Partial rep dips and squats. Partial curls. Everything is done half-arsed. You even see guys in the stretch room doing martial arts. You just want to ask why? Don't they have a dojo for that? This place should be called Planet Useless. Oh by the way, they don't allow you to jump rope! Really jumping rope is banned. Then the dimwit has the nerve to stay around and watch me to see if I continue jumping rope. Wow they are really testing that $10 a month I give them. Serious, the only other gym in the area really needs to get on the "no-contract" program so I can sign up. Oh, and only the seriously out of shape folks eat bagels and pizza in the gym. You never see anyone with a decent level of fitness eating that crap. Why don't they get some healthy options? read more

Planet Fitness gets a bad rep by some, but if you're paying $10-$15 a month, what exactly are you looking for?? That said, PF in Quincy is a nice, clean facility, and whether you're going during primetime or non-primetime hours, there are machines available. PF doesn't have classes; but again, it's $10-$15 am month! I see an upside to that though: I find that I plan much better workouts that involve cardio AND strength training (the latter being one I think that females may overlook when there are classes at their disposal). My only real problem with Planet Fitness is its lack of proper grammar. It's the "Judgement Free Zone." Now, I'm no English major, but shouldn't it be "Judgement-Free Zone"? read more

I enjoy going to this gym. It is close to my house. There is always a machine available. You see all age groups there. The staff is friendly, you are able to purchase beverages and headphones if you forget to bring your own. I don't feel intimated there and I like using a variety of the exercise equipment. Averve place to work out. Right after work is usually really busy. Recommend coming after 900 is you want a machine or any floor space.

For ten bucks a month, you can't complain too much, but is not the best gym in the area by a long shot. This is a new facility- it's a little too open in my opinion. There isn't any private or semi private women's area- it's all one big room. I'm sorry, but occasionally I would like to work out in peace without gross men constantly watching. There's a reason 90% of gyms have this feature. Even the stand up tanning beds are in the main workout room. Yes- not connected to the locker rooms or anything. You walk through the gym with your lotions and towel to go tan, then back through the gym to get to the locker room. What really upsets me about this gym is that I was a member at Planet Fitness for OVER two years. I was going to the PF in Weymouth and transferred to the one in Quincy when it opened. I went in to cancel my membership at Quincy and was forced to pay a hefty cancellation fee because I had only been at the facility in Quincy for 10 months. The contract is unethical, the employees are rude & unhelpful. I would avoid this place altogether. They make it very difficult to get out of your contract if it expires after you move out of state. You have to send a certified letter which requires standing in line at the Post Office and paying $4.05. Things are often gross or broken. read more

If I could give this gym negative stars I would. Went to the gym a few times always brought my little sister and it has never been a problem. No one has ever said anything. We work out and we leave. Today we go over there again and the lady said I'm not allowed to bring my younger sister unless I'm her parent. She told me it is their policy. Staff at the gym need to get their policy straight. I don't pay $20 them to waste my time. On top of that the gym is dirty and I never see staff cleaning up like I do at other planet fitness locations. I'm so disappointed by this I'm getting rid of my membership to planet fitness and joining a better gym. For $20 a month I'm not at all impressed. I'll remember to tell friends and family how horrible this gym is. If I couldn't bring my sister to planet fitness this whole time I would have never made a membership. read more

Am I the only one who thinks this place is way too hot? I recently moved and switched from the Dedham location. I loved PF Dedham. The staff was awesome, they had plenty of machines, the temperature was comfortable for someone engaging in physical activity. The second I walk in here, every time, my first thought is "God why is it so hot in here?" I brought it up as I was leaving the other day and the employee's response was "must be all the body heat." It is humid and very uncomfortable. I can't run for more than a few minutes before I am completely drenched in sweat. Also, the number of terrifyingly frail anorexic people constantly doing cardio is very worrying. read more

I almost joined this place before - thank goodness - finding Super Fitness. I had been a member of Planet Fitness in Taunton which was mehh, okay - sometimes I had trouble finding a machine and people liked to just sit on machines and hang out a lot of the time. But the Quincy one is so much worst. First of all - CROWDED. Like if you are okay with working out like you are on the Red Line during rush hour - be my guest. Second of all - when I went in there to ask the staff about joining, the girl at the desk first ignored me and then was so incredibly rude and abrupt, I'm still kind of annoyed to this day. She basically threw a pamphlet at me and told me "figure out what I wanted." Third of all - no classes! But thankfully my roommate worked out at Super Fitness and highly recommended it, so I lucked out. Avoid this place. Planet Fitness is the kind of gym where you'll end up NOT going there more often than not. Super Fitness is a real gym. Planet Fitness is a chain with a nice cushy corporate sponsorship. read more

I don't need much for a gym, I just need a place to go for about an hour or two and get a good workout. For $10 a month, Planet Fitness is it! I used to be at QAC, but $32 a month is too much if all you plan to do is use an elliptical machine, some free weights, and some other things, especially for someone on a budget. It's important to remember the peak hours for the gym (5-8pm) when everyone is coming out of work or finishing up their dinner, because the best time is after that, around 8-9. This gym is open until 11pm and that's a very good thing when you want to get your workout in without having to wait for someone on a machine. Plus I've never been to a gym with so many TV's, with so many running and elliptical machines going at the same time. Also, the machines are very well maintained and cleaned, which by and large, is very professional in this day of sweating all over the gym and walking away. Thumbs up! read more

Along with another yelpee I got the $99/yr if you pay up front deal, best price I've ever seen offered for a gym. Everything in the gym is new & clean, everything works, the locker rooms (at least the ladies) are roomy and convenient. I have never had to wait for a cardio machine, even at peak times (5-7ish M-Th). The abs/floor area does get a little crowded sometimes but it's never a really serious problem. There's plenty of parking on the street & in two lots. The one drawback for me is lack of classes/group workouts, but I suppose you pay for that at other gyms. I would rather this great price at a totally utilitarian gym than pay more to help cover child care and saunas and all that other foofy stuff. :) read more

I have been a "black card" member at this gym for about a year. I belong to another gym in the neighborhood and decided to add on a PF membership so that I can work out with friends and family (unlimited guests) and work out when I'm out of town. This gym is CLEAN. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I cannot say that enough. There is always soap, toilet paper and paper towels. You'd be surprised (and horrified) at how many gyms do NOT have these basics. The machines WORK. And the broken machines are quickly fixed. There is never a wait for the machines and there are plenty of them. Their new stretch room is FABULOUS. You can also work abs in there and they have plenty of weights, mats and medicine calls. It's a dream. And the hydro massage beds are TO DIE FOR. The only thing that works my nerves to no end is when people come into the 30 minute circuit area and jump in and out of the order. It is disruptive and rude and there are plenty of signs telling people NOT to do that. The downside is that there are no classes... and that is the main reason why I kept my first gym. I have also picked up memberships at other local fitness places for spin and kickboxing, so sadly I think I will have to cancel my PF membership to save a couple of dollars. But I have to tell you, it's a pretty great place. read more

I used to be a BSC loyalist, but then Planet Fitness opened up across the street from my apartment. The convenience factor coupled with the fact that I'm saving $60.00 a month on membership fees made the offer too good to pass up. No, they don't have individual TVs on their machines, or fitness classes, but they charge you a minimal amount for a ton of weightlifting equipment and cardio machines. I wish they had a little bit more variety in types of cardio equipment, and I wish they had more than 3 women's restroom stalls (surprising given a gym this size). However, if I let myself get annoyed at the lack of stair steppers, or having to wait in line to use the bathroom, I just chant, ten dollars a month, ten dollars a month, and all is well in the world. Do I miss BSC's facilities? Yes. Do I miss the price tag? Absolutely not. Overall, this Planet Fitness is a great deal and gets the job done. read more

Horrible experience at this location. Have been going here for years and was okay with the equipment and somewhat old styled showers. Recently they renovated their equipment which is nice but they completely renovated the women's locker room also and MEMBER Beware! They have now made the entire showering experience the absolute worst I have ever experienced; -Lower flow shower heads than before (and before it wasn't that bad). -No dressing area immediately outside the shower like they had before. They have removed the small dressing area outside the shower so you could shower and come out and change before you entered the main shower area. Now the shower curtain opens directly into the shower area and you have to Dash across the area in your towel to one of the TWO dressing rooms - pretty pathetic and unsafe when you are soaking wet. So if part of your working out experience involves getting clean afterward, do not join this Planet Fitness. It is clear they are trying to save money by implementing these new features that will deter members from showering at their location but they have made it unbearable to stay there as a member. I will be looking elsewhere and I advise all potential members to also if cleaning up after your workout is valued at all. I should also note that they removed the big mirrors in the ladies area also and replaced them with new fancy round mirrors that only show your face and a little of your chest area. News Flash for Planet Fitness owners - People who workout tend to come and go from work and need to see what their outfit looks like before going out to the gym area to workout. Also, people need to see what their work clothes look like before heading back to work after working out. Clearly another owner-directed initiate without any planning or research on what the MEMBERS need. Overall, pass on this location because of their stingy and cheap upgrades to save money and their ignorance of what their members need versus what they think would look "pretty" with their un-user friendly upgrades to the ladies lounge. Not a bad planet fitness. The location is good and parking is plentiful both attached to the building and across the street. The gym itself is very clean and the staff is helpful. I used to go to a PF in tewksbury that had TVs inside every machine that you could control. I loved that feature and it made it a little easier to stay on the machines longer. I have yet to find another PF that has this :( for $10.00 a month you can't ask for too much though. Also, I recently canceled my membership (was paying for far too long for something I just was never using) and when I went in the person at the desk didn't give me any grief about cancelling which I really appreciated. read more
