After liberally blasting myself with bug spray, I needed a shower before going to bed. I joined Planet Fitness online over the weekend and used their app to find the nearest one which turned out to be here. At 9:30 pm, the parking lot was reasonably well lit and the young lady who was working the counter checked me in (technically, I just scanned my bar code). The gym is large and has all the usual torture devices with 20 screens tuned in to the major television channels. Plug in your headphones to the show you want to watch while you run and you're good. Locker room isn't large but it wasn't busy this late at night. I was able to secure my stuff, change for a shower, have a great shower, change back into clean street clothes and depart. Less than half an hour, no interaction with anyone I didn't want to talk to and I was super clean. Awesome. The shower could have used some attention. There's a rack in there that needs cleaning and someone left a melting bar of soap on the floor. Changing areas were tidy and the lockers were clean. This planet fitness has went nothing but downhill since their remodel everytime i walk in the employees r on the phone having personal conversations it's dirty as hell in there the bathrooms smell like straight piss the second u walk in the locker room and not to mention someone clearly accidentally put bleach in their cleaner for the machines because i just went the other night and only went to the gym and home in these shorts have not washed them and they have bleach streaks from when i sat down it's absolutely ridiculous not only is it dirty now my clothes r being ruined too??! definitely need to look for another gym or bite the bullet and drive to the one in oc instead read more

Went to cancel my membership since the wearing a mask to workout policy and all my kids 100% virtual learning with no end in sight leaves me with no free time to come workout. They still charged me the monthly fee the day after. Contacted them thru their email under contact info and been a week and not a peep. Why have an email for customer service if the crappy manager isn't even going to take the time to address problems? Pathetic. Update: funny that it takes a review for anyone to respond. They know they are the cheapest gym around. So this means they can get away with having thick layers of dust on all their equipment. Employees on their phone and extremely rude not friendly and incompetent and aren't confident at their job. You're lying to yourself if you are proud to be a member of crap fitness. Their whole Moto to welcome new gym goers is a huge scam just to make you feel better about yourself because you have a gym membership that you pay $10 for. I have never and know no one that has ever been to a gym where people weren't friendly accepting and welcoming. Like people it's 2021, no gym is going to allow toxic behavior. It'll be a year this fall that I've been a member of planet fitness. Unfortunately, more times than not, the stand up tanning bed rooms are not clean. The mirror, and bench were also dirty. Now more than ever, is it really important to have a clean environment to be in. I hope this isn't a reflection of the entire gym. The staff has ALWAYS been incredibly nice and welcoming. I just wish/hope they'll pay more attention to matters such as these. read more

I love that this location is open 24/7, but other than that, I was unsatisfied with my visit in Salisbury. I go to the gym after 9pm to ensure it is not busy, and it wasn't, but it sure felt like it due to the lack of space. This location is overcrowded with unused machines, to the point where there is no room to comfortably stretch on the floor. In addition, the strength training/free weight section is minuscule, with only 4 benches. I felt so close to the people around me that I couldn't properly do my exercises. I was extremely surprised by the inefficiency of the layout in this location, being that my home location is located in a small town like Salisbury, yet has none of these issues. If you are coming to this gym for cardio, it would be amazing, but if you want to strength train, I would visit another location or another gym. read more

I have been a member in good standing with the club in Salisbury MD for quite awhile now and have never been treated as badly as I have tonight. The man behind the counter was extremely rude and plainly put, an arrogant ass. It was first time bringing my 14 year old son to the club at which I used to enjoy going to. They denied us entry claiming I must produce a birth certificate, which the corporate website does not state. It states that the teen does not need an id as long as the member is in good standing and current on their bill. The man behind the counter embarrassed both of us and made it so my son no longer wanted to try to workout there. I will be going through various social media channels to also share this experience so that other parents know what they're getting at this location. read more

Planet Fitness is by far the best gym I've been to in 20+ years. The staff is friendly, but not overbearing or hovering. Sometimes it does look like the could use a couple more hands on deck than what they have, but that's just my opinion. Pricing is very affordable $10 a month for basic, $20 a month for Black Card Membership. Any other gym I've been to, charges roughly $40-$50 a month and most visits will culminate in waiting to use equipment. This is not the case with Planet Fitness - there is plenty of cardio and toning equipment to go around. I've been a member for about a year now and even during the "New Year's Resolution" membership surge, I never waited to get on any equipment. Clearly this gym is geared toward overall physical fitness and not so much toward the bulking up beefcake stuff, which a couple of other reviewers looked like they were wanting. I haven't had a problem with the cleanliness of the gym, although since Salisbury is a college town, I have found that some of the college girls who use the showers leave dumb stuff in there because they think it's funny/cute. This is a rare exception. Overall the facility is very clean. The parking lot is large and well lit. There is a bike rack for us cyclists. Their hours can't be beat - open 24/7 except for Christmas, I believe. There's nothing about this gym that I would change. Keep up the great work folks! read more

I have visited many gyms and had been the member of alot of gyms but the trainer of this gym is very unprofessional and his behavior is impolite. The machinery of the gym is up to the mark but the guidance to use machinery as well as floor work out is not taught by the trainer. So I am not much satisfied with this gym. read more

This used to be a clean, friendly establishment when Justin was the manager. Since his departure, it has become dirty, the employees keep their backs to the clients, and the employees spend most of their day on their cell phone. The equipment is breaking down (grinding noises in several bikes and squeaking in a few of the treadmills). All this was relatively tolerable until they demanded MASKS ON DURING A WORKOUT! When this was instituted, I immediately canceled my membership. But, as you can guess, I was charged anyway. When I contacted them about the charge, the caller (though friendly) told me they would not honor the cancelation because it had to be in-person. read more

Don't know were to start. The place is clean , open, and air conditioned. Could be a great gym if it was 90% strength training and 10% tread mills. Since I don't see the need to waste 40 minutes of my day walking inside. I will rate the 10% I use. Well maintained equipment. No barbells or squat racks. No bench rack. But everything else is great. Some of the best leg machines are in the 30 minute circuit that nobody uses, so you have to walk around a lot to everything in. Which takes the place of the tread mill. Weird things. There are bowls of candy everywhere. Also they serve High Carb, High Glycemic Foods to the mostly obese clientele. So anyway for $99 a year it is a great deal and if you don't go in the summer. When i first joined planet fitness i was really afraid that i was going to be subconscious about working out in front of people but an employee (Justin D) talked me through my fear of working out in public and the trainer here offered to make a diet plan and workout plan for me. Never at any gym has an employee gone so far out of their way to make me feel welcome. I'm so glad i joined this gym it has truly changed my life. Thank you so much Justin and Kevin. read more

If I could give this location 0 stars I would. I am very disappointed in the matter in which my membership was handled. I put my membership on hold in August because I was uncomfortable going to the gym given the COVID situation. My family members I live with are immunocompromised, so going out during this pandemic was not an option. At that point in time I was able to put my membership on hold over the phone. I was never told my membership could only be put on hold for 3 months over the phone. I tried to cancel it at the time I called however, you have to write a letter or come in person to that specific location to cancel it. As I was not able to leave the house, I could not go to any clubs or the post office to take action in order to cancel my membership. I feel I was robbed about $65 because I was not told my membership would automatically start charging my account again without unfreezing it. read more

Rude! So I'm road tripping and sadly haven't been able to shower for almost three days. I drive over an hour to get to this planet fitness and because my payment was apparently a few days past due Kristen or whatever wouldn't let me in. It wasn't until after I said I was filing a complaint did the manager feel the need to say it's okay just go and of course now I don't want to. The staff and management of this club really care about their members. They are very helpful and welcoming - making for a wonderful experience. The gym is perfect for a workout, a tan, a massage on the hydromassage machines! I joined PF at the beginning of the month and I have been nothing but pleased there. Everything is ALWAYS clean. The employees are friendly and helpful. While I'm am by no means a "beginner" gym goer, the no gymtimidation policy is great. People that use the gym are friendly and polite to each other. The Hydromassage beds are so worth the extra $10 a month. I also love that I can bring a guest for free anytime with my Black Card. read more

I have shared similar experiences of this gym as the post above, in reference to the cleanliness and the staff. If you plan to come work out in the afternoons and evenings, you will have to wait and it will be crowded. The weight lifting area is WAY too small compared to all of the space given to machines barely used. When my 12 month membership came to a close, I canceled it a few weeks early since I was moving, the staff member told me everything was taken care of. 2 months later, I was charged $30 by Planet Fitness with no explanation or notification. When I returned their for an explanation, they told me my membership was renewed for another year. When I explained that I had canceled my membership 2 months ago and that it was only a 12 month deal, they denied having any record of this. So I had to cancel my membership... again... and the staff said they would not refund my $30. They were uninterested in finding a reasonable solution to my complaint. read more

I like coming here when I'm in school but when I wanna lift heavy I can't do it here. Dumbbells only go up to 65 and I'm not a massive guy nor a small guy but that's not enough weight. Basic gym with minimal amount of weight lifting equipment. Weight lifting area of this location can get very crowded because it is so small. They have floor mats, but no where in the building to put them and stretch without getting in other people's way. This is a relatively new gym and the number of members coming to the gym will decline, but you can find yourself having to wait for a piece of aerobic equipment late in the day. The equipment is basic, no bells or whistles. They do have a two each of hydromassage tables and reclining chairs which are nice and free to members with the $20 monthly membership. Same with the tanning rooms, and some toning piece of equipment that no one, not even staff, knew how to use when I wanted to try it out. If you join, the only option is to have your monthly dues come from your checking account. Obviously for security reasons I'm not a fan of that. I doubt they do extensive background checks on the people they hire. At this stage of my membership my only issues are with the cleanliness of the facility and the attitude of the staff. They have spray bottles and rolls of brown paper on stations around the gym and ask that you wipe down each piece of equipment when you're done with it. Yet the ceiling fan blades are loaded with dust. One day, when it was particularly stuffy in the gym, I asked a member if he could get some air moving. I was told he was afraid to increased the speed on the large fan in the center of the gym because of all the dust that may blow off and down onto the guests. Smaller ceiling fans above weight lifting area were off and very dirty, too. In the men's room there was a sticker from a new pack of men's underwear that had been stuck on the tile wall in the shower area. It stayed on the wall for two weeks, and was only taken down when I pointed it out to a staff member. Whoever they were paying to clean the facilities wasn't doing his/her job. If labels aren't getting peeled off the walls, what else is being left undone? I was told they don't have a scanning device at the front desk so members can simply scan their membership card because they wanted each member to be personally greeted upon arrival. That's not happening. Most of the staff there is simply going through the motions. I came there once and there were five people behind the desk. One was with the manager talking, the others were doing their own thing. I stood there for at least 20 seconds waiting for someone to acknowledge me and check me in with zero results. I simply walked in. I left my former gym because the gym was kept at a temperature too high for a gym (optimum temp for a gym is 67 degrees) and some of the equipment wasn't stable. If I leave this one, it would because of the temp of the gym, cleanliness, and uncaring attitude of the staff. read more
