Lots of broken equipment. So many people sitting on the equipment texting and not working out. It's pretty clean though and one worker was filling the sanitation stations. I've been to OF in more than 20 states across the country, and the one in Seffner, FL, is more in need of a full time maintenance person than any I've seen. The onsite manager is aware of multiple issues with equipment, but seems unable to get things fixed. I hope that the equipment will get professional attention soon. read more

I really love working out at the seffner location. My ex goes there so I've been going to the Plant City location for about 2 months. I dropped in last night and, well I saw her with her new pea-dough boyfriend. Long story short, with my heart in the dumps the staff member, Liam, shot me a thumbs up and a smile, and man, I tell you what, it was like Jesus among us, man. As a over the road truck driver and black card member I frequent planet fitness all over Florida and most of the east coast. The gym was nice and organized weights weren't scattered all over the place like other ones I've been too. Overall nice impression. However, the showers were another story. I've been going to this gym since they opened. I really enjoyed the original assistant manager who made manager, Carlos but he left before COVID to another location. The management since him has been less than mediocre. I've witnessed the current manager get really nasty with customers at the front desk & it sets a negative vibe throughout the whole place. I recently went tanning and was extremely burned from the bed having hot spots. My skin was literally blistered & there was no apology regarding the accident. The staff was well aware of the issue as the tanning bed was out of order for several days after. But hey, you sign that agreement that doesn't bold them responsible. Regardless of faulty equipment that they neglect when complaints are made. Anyway, it's atleast clean inside & the equipment is of good quality. Hopefully management improves. read more

I really wanted to give this gym 5 stars but i cant. The staff is nice enough. It is the cleanest planet fitness I've been to and I've been to 55. They have great, new equipment. The trainer is a good guy that knows his stuff. They offer lots of t.v but not one shows national news (fox, cnn or msnbc). So the problem? They refuse to turn down their overhead music. With ear phones on and turned all the way up i still cant hear what im listening to. Ive asked the staff to lower the volume. Ive tweeted plant fitness asking them to turn it down. No one listens or cares. The music is fine just to damn loud. They dont seem to understand how the acustics work and the impact of their acustics and even when explained to them they dont get it. Ill be deaf in a few more work outs so i guess this noise issue is only going to be short term. Great gym. Clean gym. Nice staff. Planet Fitness Gym is located near my offices off MLK in Seffner in a shopping plaza next to a Save A Lot, Dollar Tree, SunTrust Bank, KFC, Checkers, Taco Bell, and Beef O Bradies. We come to Planet Fitness Gym during our lunch break around 1pm with coworkers during the weekdays and the gym is never too busy. There's 2 rows of treadmills, 1 row of ellipticals, 1 row of bikes, 2 rows of Weight machines, a dumbbell area, an assisted squat rack area, a 30 minute workout station on the left, a stretching area on the right, an Ab workout area on the right, and a PF360 obstacle course type area on the right. There's 2 of every weight machine type so if someone is using 1, you can still use the other. Planet Fitness has tanning beds, massage chairs, hydro massage beds, and even a new total body enhancement machine. The gyms colors are purple and yellow with all the gym machines painted purple but it's not too obnoxious, girly, or tacky luckily. There's a funny lunk alarm that goes off if someone's being too loud. It was pretty funny when the loud trainer set the alarm off. Considering the area of our offices, gym options are pretty limited and the Planet Fitness gym is the closest to our offices, the best gym in the area, with the most equipment. However, in the Tampa area I do prefer a gym with more free weight options, like Crunch Fitness or LA Fitness. I love this place and frequent it often. Would love to give it 5 stars but their music is so freaking loud and with most of their clients bringing their own earpods, we have suggested and keep hoping they will turn the music down to background instead of blasting. Also it always seems warm and they keep the fans low. I hope someday they will be mindful of keeping the fans up for circulation and thermostat down for comfort. Great place for a work out but you need to make sure your staff shows up on time to open the place on weekends. There was a recent Sunday one of the employees was sitting outside by the door because the person with the key didn't show up. Lots of people left, I stuck around until 730 and left because nobody ever came to open. Today 3/27/2021 I got here at 707 one staff member was just opening up and let everybody in and people were allowed to workout in darkness because she couldn't figure out how to turn the light on. I joined this gym to prove a point! I'm a lunk. I am. I'm an undercover lunk. I've been building muscles for three years. I used to power lift until I pulled my back out, now I just lift heavy weights and have a great time. And eat. I eat a lot. The gym owner at my old gym upset me with his misogynistic comments and consistent inability to take constructive feedback. I went there for 17 months. I made some fantastic progress, and I'm a natural- regular gym rat if you will. I love being in the gym. Anyhow, yes. I'm a lunk. PF gets such a bad name from my big male counterparts. Let's face it. I'll never use a 110 lb dumbbell. I'm off of the oly bars for a bit, due to injury- so we are going light weight more reps. Guess what? Still a lunk. This. Gym. Has. Everything. Except a squat rack. Dumbbells, loaded barbells, machines, lots of cables, benches, etc. The staff here is super friendly. They were patient during registration. They answer all of my questions, including my "do you guys really have Pizza?" Question. They answered with a "you don't like Pizza?!?!" Omg of course I do. Who doesn't like pizza?! I just hope it's not from Papa Johns. Me teenager has been with me free with my black card twice now. I love that it gives us this time together, and that he's completely comfortable working out here. I don't think it would be the case at my old gym. Here's to many many workouts together PF. I have been going to PF Seffner for well over a year - and I want to give a shout out to Brian Jaglal, the trainer there. Since I've been taking his classes, I have lost over 10 lbs as well as inches from my stomach and hips. The classes are only a half hour. He encourages you to give your best effort, is careful about form, and is happy to give you modifications to a given exercise if you have an injury or other limitation. Brian's classes have made all the difference in my physical status. (I've been able to reduce blood pressure medicine, too!) The gym itself is clean, and happily, most of the members are very good about Wiping Down Equipment after they are through with it. The culture of cleanliness is well above other gyms I've been to. So I want to piggy back off the last truck driver that left a review. Because I also drive over the road and usually don't leave reviews, but this is pretty unacceptable. He left a review a week ago. And I'm here a week later looking at the exact same thing he complained about and obviously nothing has changed. You can't preach cleanliness and nothing is being cleaned. Mold is something that is built over time. It's very uncomfortable trying to get clean in a shower that isn't clean. It seems as though the root of the problem is that there aren't enough employees to maintain the gym as a whole. You can't expect one or even two employees to tend to the front desk, assist customers in person or on the phone and still properly tend to the cleaning of the the gym and locker rooms. The least that can be done is have spray bottles left by the showers so ppl can spray before and after they shower. read more

I suggest not to go to this location!! I have read some of the reviews online and decided to give it a try anyway. I did not have a good experience when I arrived. The manager RAFAEL was very rude and had an attitude when I asked him a simple question. He was talking to other employees and I guess he was overwhelmed, but should not have been so nasty. I called Corporate and since this location is a Franchise, they advised that the management at the club level will be giving me a call. I can't wait to tell them about their Manager and he needs training on Customer Service as well as multi-tasking. read more

My mother was humiliated by the manager Jeremy at this location. "Judgement free zone" is their slogan but that is not how she was treated at all. The amount of disrespect she experienced for no reason is wild. She went in to utilize the tanning beds like she had been doing for a couple of months, she was stopped by someone at the front desk and was told to wear protective eyewear. She stated nobody had told her to do that before and Jeremy walked up to confirm she needed to wear them. She made a joking comment to him about returning another time while he wasn't there and he immediately canceled her account and when she stated "you can't do that I haven't done anything wrong" he stated "I just did." Instead of showing compassion or even just giving a warning that he'd have to terminate her membership if she tried to use the tanning bed without to eyewear or anything polite, he took her joke offensively and acted out of emotion and wanted to hurt her by doing what he had the power to do. She didn't violate any part of her contract by making the joke, she didn't attempt to go to the tanning bed without the eyewear in fact she had it in her car and was going to go and grab it. Some of her clients and coworkers were at the gym at the time and this experience left her feeling extremely humiliated and so upset crying to me about what just happened to her. He was full of attitude and disrespect I cannot believe they would allow someone to manage this gym who would embarrass an older woman for no reason or for making a joke. We then attempted to get her membership back and spoke with him over the phone, he yelled at my husband and was talking and yelling over him and ended up hanging up the phone and not answering when we tried to call back, refusing to speak with us telling us to call corporate if we had a problem with him and he wasn't going to reinstate her membership. This whole experience has been so awful, this manager Jeremy needs to be put into a position where he doesn't have to deal with customers because this is not how you treat customers or people in general. read more

I have been a member with Planet fitness in Seffner Fl for some time and I love it there. When Covid hit I canceled my account over the phone (I thought) due to being g high risk. However, My account was continuously billed. I called in November 2020 to find out why and to get a refund and was told I would have a manager call me back. NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. Fast forward 1 Month later my account is charged again. I called and spoke with a manger he was HORRIBLE AND DISRESPECTFUL. THE ABSOLUTE WORST KIND OF PERSON NAMED KEATON, told me I'm not getting a refund and after I explained my situation to him asked me if I'm going to keep on going (speaking) or can he tell me there policy!!! First of all... he ALREADY EXPLAINED what his policy was at the start of the call and I needed to come In To cancel or send a certified letter!..... which is the reason I was responding and telling him I was not happy with the misinformation I was receiving from previous reps and I am high risk. I was never rude or disrespectful over the phone and was very surprised at his response to me. I then advised him to NOT DISRESPECT ME over the phone by speaking to me that way. He then HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME!!!! I have never in my LIFE BEEN SO DISRESPECTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!! I'm so upset! I went up to Planet Fitness and yes I was loud while asking him to NEVER IN HIS LIFE SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT AGAIN and I TOLD HIM HE WAS DISRESPECTFUL!! Of course he asked me to leave and I did. I asked them to please CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP AND ONCE AND FOR ALL STOP STEALING FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT!
