I have gone here many times over the years. Their open gym experience is as you'd expect from a Planet Fitness, nothing special. At one point I signed up to train with their personal trainer. Our session went fine, and when I arrived for our second scheduled appointment he acted like he had never seen me before and had no clue what I was talking about. Planet Fitness was founded in 1992, in Dover, New Hampshire, when Michael and Marc Grondahl acquired a financially struggling gym and dramatically reduced prices to compete against better-known brands. Their low-cost business model focused on the needs of occasional or first-time health club members, rather than more experienced members. In 1993, the Grondahl brothers hired Chris Rondeau, Planet Fitness' current CEO, to work the front desk. Rondeau and the Grondahls recognized that there was a greater opportunity to serve a much larger segment of the population if they changed the gym environment, both in attitude and format, by creating a non-intimidating, low-cost model. Planet Fitness then became known as the "Judgement Free Zone," aimed more at the average user than the bodybuilder type of fitness enthusiast. As a fat guy, Planet Fitness is the kind of gym I want to go to. It's cheap, stocked full of plenty of equipment, and while their "Judgement Free Zone" gimmick can be a little hokey, they do tend to be patronized by people of average fitness levels just looking to get a quick work out in, as opposed to extremely serious fitness fanatics who spend hours a day at the gym. Anyone feeling self-conscious will feel welcome at their gyms, as it has always seemed to me that patrons aren't very interested in who else is at the gym or their fitness levels. The club's two membership levels are $10 and $21.99 per month: the $10 per month level includes access to cardio and strength equipment, unlimited group fitness instruction and pizza and bagels once a month; the $21.99 per month ("Black Card") level allows members to bring one guest per day at no charge, access to all Planet Fitness locations, and access to extra amenities, such as tanning booths and massage chairs. This location on Rt 11 is one of the smallest locations in the area, but one of the nicest. They recently replaced all of their equipment with brand new, much nicer models. They definitely have the best and nicest machines in the area now, and on top of that, have a couple extra machines that the other locations don't have, such as elastic cord rowing machines and stairmaster-type machines. This location also has the nicest, cleanest locker rooms of all the locations, and generally clean bathrooms. The smaller spot can tend to get busy, with less room for people to spread out, especially since it is in a pretty busy area on Rt 11. It's in a plaza, so there's plenty of room to park, and easy access to highways. It's also one of the HOTTEST locations, as it tends to be pretty full, has very small fans on the walls, and that many people working out in that close of quarters means a ton of body heat. I put a three month freeze on my account but it was only put on for 2 months. I kept getting charged and every time I called about it, I was given an apology and said it was because of the billing cycle or that they didn't see a freeze on my account. I am tired of being milked by this company and their excuses! I will NEVER use them again! read more

Been going to this gym and the one on 31(since it's opening) for the past 2 years and the difference between the 2 are astronomical. This Planet fitness is always packed with the rudest and most obnoxious crowd. It seems like a free-for-all, needs new guidelines or somebody to maintain some-sort of standard. The "Trainer" walks around like King Tut and I don't think I've ever heard him say "have a nice workout" "welcome to planet fitness" "have a nice day" a single time. It's 10 minutes extra to go to the other gym but I do it every day so that I can avoid the people here. Hopefully management makes changes soon. read more

my credit card was used by some else they racked up 500.00 in charges by not paying for the bill under my credit card...two different credit cards two different contracts you can't open a contract under another persons name this is FRAUD ....don't go to planet fitness they are a corporate fraud company who uses other people to scam you out of your money to have someone else get a gym membership this is wrong and I dont recommend giving your card out to anyone not even a gym pay cash or get a home gym jog on road,,, YMCA is 49.00 and they have same amenities....Corporate Scum!!!!Envious Gangstalkers read more

I've been a member of Planet Fitness for a couple years. Now that they've reopened during this pandemic, I attempted to cancel my account. I find it too dangerous to go to such a place with all of this covid stuff going around. I found out my options are either go into the gym I refuse to set foot in or send a freaking LETTER. A letter. In the 21st century. I don't even own a printer! Why is canceling a membership so HARD? My only option is to hand write a letter to them and hope that's good enough. If it's not, I guess I pay forever for something I cannot use? TERRIBLE place. If I can get this membership canceled, I will never ever go back there and recommend no one else join unless they want to follow their antiquated methods to get out of the agreement. read more

If I could give this place a 0 I would. I went to this location for a month and ended up moving further away and they "PAUSED" my account until I could make it to them to give them a letter saying that I want to cancel my membership. The next month rolls around and I'm getting charged for a full month of the membership AND a "late" fee for the annual fee. I brought the letter to the location like requested and they said I had to "mail it to them" and they wouldn't take it. THEN THEY CHARGE ME AGAIN FOR THE NEXT MONTH! I've been trying to get this whole thing figured out for 6 MONTHS now and no one responds to me. They just keep telling me that I NEED to check in every couple days and they even promised there was going to be money in my account by February. Now they don't take my calls and won't answer my emails. This place is one big piece of shit and will take all your money without your permission. I have been a member for about 6 months at two different clubs (we moved), this is the better one. Four stars may be a stretch, customer service is not high on the agenda, but the place is clean, well organized, reasonably priced and I like the 15 or so flat screens. It is worth mentioning that while you can watch Fox news at either club location, MSNBC appears only in the Liverpool club. Come on folks, how about a political fairness policy? Showers are so-so, but I love the lockers, full size, the real deal. I am not a gym rat and know very little about the equipment, but it looks new and well cared for. So many "value priced" clubs are short on maintenance, missing pins, holes in the linoleum etc, these folks have stayed on top of things and hence the forth star. For the record, my monthly fee, which includes unlimited tanning sessions, is less than ONE tanning session in a stand-up booth in California! read more

Faculty was good but one of the managers is pretty rude in the way she talks. I came into the gym because I had been being charged extra fees for no reason when my balance had been paid way in advance. I have the basic $10 a month plan and the manager just has my account set up to automatically be charged a late fee and I have spoken to different members of staff here and when they click the fee it comes up as I don't owe anything. Staff is friendly and they've tried to do a lot of improvements in the past year. Just wish they could fix a few things.... Like change the filter on the water bottle fill- been in the red for a bit. Also when machines or TV's and sound don't work, it takes forever for repairs.... if they get done. But you get what you pay for. read more

Not often do I wish I could do this but I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars. It's not quite 3 and not quite 4. I absolutely the love the location and parking available of this location. There is nothing about that aspect of it that makes me wish I didn't go. It's very inviting and very accessible. I'm also enjoying the interior being a little smaller than the other surrounding locations. It does not feel as daunting. Unfortunately, the lay out of the weight machines just feels completely confusing. There are duplicates of each of the machines and although it is nice to have more than one, how they are laid out makes is just, well...confusing. The machines are a bit rickety and I get the feeling that this smaller location is the younger sibling of the others. They get all the old hand me downs from the bigger locations. Their "Black Card Members" spot within the club is pretty enticing though and I have even considered upgrading to be able to take advantage of the massage chairs and other things. My favorite feature is the filtered water fountain to fill my water bottle. Regardless, I am happy this is my club! read more

It's your basic gym. They have everything you need to workout unless you want some serious weights. It's machine oriented with a full set of dumbbells. No free weights other than five smith machines and two leg sleds. There is a 30 minute workout circuit and plenty of televisions to keep your mind off doing cardio. There is group personal training and certain times of the day. Also it is surprisingly clean. All in all its a solid gym for the price. read more

Gym equipment was good. The space was to small for the amount of equipment they have. The Ladies locker room wasn't very clean. The bathrooms were not very clean & smelled like there was a sewer problem. read more

I am here working out every morning at 5 and it is always clean and the workers are pleasant, even at that ridiculous hour.

Was absolutely offended by one of the staff there. Usually they are all nice and the facilities are decent, however a middle-aged glasses wearing staff member approached me earlier today and told me to change my shirt because it said the word vagina on it. This was a shirt I got from a gynecologist sponsor of an ovarian cancer awareness run I did for my aunt. There was absolutely nothing offensive or inappropriate about the shirt what so ever and so naturally when this man said this I was taken aback, I asked why, there is nothing inappropriate about it, his response? "It's inappropriate and might send the wrong message" What is the wrong message? Am I to understand that Planet Fitness does not support the fight against cancer? Or is this staff member just uncomfortable with the word vagina? If I wore a "save the boobs" or a "boobies" shirt would I be told to take that off as well? I am absolutely disgusted that someone would even think that supporting a family member in their struggle against cancer would be offensive. read more

You get what you pay for. If your looking for a cheap bare bones gym to do your thing and get out.. this is it. Lots of cardio equip (no standard stationary bikes though). Enough weight equipment to get the job done. I don't get went they serve pizza or bagels though, it takes a lot working out to burn those off. read more
