This place recently opened in February! They have Bootcamp workouts 6 days a week (closed on…read moreSundays). They're having an offer right now where you can get 3 free workouts!! My friend and I tried it out today, we came at the 9:30 AM slot. There were only 3 other people in the class with us. The instructor Don, is absolutely amazing! He motivates you with humor, dancing, and whatever it takes to get you through the workout! The best thing about this Bootcamp is it's for all types of stamina and people who are at different points in their fitness journey. I love it because they modify the workout for you depending on where you are in your fitness journey. For example, we had to jump up on blocks and my friend Nikki struggles with it because she tore her ACL back in high school. Don was helping her stand up on the block instead of jumping on it. You start off with a 5 minute warmup and then go straight to the 20 minute Bootcamp and then a few minute cool down/stretches. It's super high energy and so much fun!! I absolutely love this place and I plan on buying a membership after my 3 free workouts!!

We easily made our workout reservation through the Orangetheory App and followed up with a phone call to ensure our place in the class. We were told to arrive a little earlier to get a tour of their studio. Parking is really plentiful in this lot, next to a Nature-Tyme and petco. It is much different and larger than ours, with a couple of showers (and sign up boards for the showers), a locker room with locks and a coat room (we don't see coat rooms in So Cal). Towels were available for purchase for $10 each (double the cost than our Tustin location). We signed waivers and grabbed a treadmill card, awaiting class. The day we went you could test out Reebox shoes during your class for purchase later. Hannah was our coach for the hour and she was great! She explained the goal of 12+ splat points and the exercises and switches. I loved the layout of this studio--staggered weight stations so no one was in anyone's way, though not sure how that works on TRX days. She motivated throughout the class and played great music. The hour was a fantastic workout with a 35 point splat day for me! I don't expect to be back in Syracuse in the foreseeable future but if you can take a class here, do it! It's really great!

Being corporate it does give you access to use other locations, but unless you travel routinely the higher price and loss of personality isn't worth it. Personally I don't like the heart rate monitor and comparison aspect of class, but the workout is good and the staff seems helpful and motivating.

I've been coming for a year and I haven't seen any turnover with staff. Everyone is committed and seems to love what they do. Very easy communication as well. 2. Convenient schedule. They have a ton of classes throughout the day so it's easy to find one to work with your schedule. The new facility has showers, which is an awesome addition. 3. Flexibility. You can freeze your membership for any amount of time, even for a week or two at a time. That is pretty remarkable and cost effective. 4. Challenging. There are members of all fitness levels and there are modifications to ease up or push harder. You will SWEAT, burn calories and build muscle. Because this is a monthly membership instead of a pay-by-class, be prepared to make the commitment. If you only plan on going a couple times per month, this probably isn't the place for you. Every class is different, but all classes include work on the bag as well as endurance and strength training. I highly recommend Burn if you are looking to challenge yourself and commit to bettering your mind & body.

At one point I signed up to train with their personal trainer. Our session went fine, and when I arrived for our second scheduled appointment he acted like he had never seen me before and had no clue what I was talking about. Planet Fitness was founded in 1992, in Dover, New Hampshire, when Michael and Marc Grondahl…read moreacquired a financially struggling gym and dramatically reduced prices to compete against better-known brands. Their low-cost business model focused on the needs of occasional or first-time health club members, rather than more experienced members. In 1993, the Grondahl brothers hired Chris Rondeau, Planet Fitness' current CEO, to work the front desk. Rondeau and the Grondahls recognized that there was a greater opportunity to serve a much larger segment of the population if they changed the gym environment, both in attitude and format, by creating a non-intimidating, low-cost model. Planet Fitness then became known as the "Judgement Free Zone," aimed more at the average user than the bodybuilder type of fitness enthusiast. As a fat guy, Planet Fitness is the kind of gym I want to go to. It's cheap, stocked full of plenty of equipment, and while their "Judgement Free Zone" gimmick can be a little hokey, they do tend to be patronized by people of average fitness levels just looking to get a quick work out in, as opposed to extremely serious fitness fanatics who spend hours a day at the gym. Anyone feeling self-conscious will feel welcome at their gyms, as it has always seemed to me that patrons aren't very interested in who else is at the gym or their fitness levels. The club's two membership levels are $10 and $21.99 per month: the $10 per month level includes access to cardio and strength equipment, unlimited group fitness instruction and pizza and bagels once a month; the $21.99 per month ("Black Card") level allows members to bring one guest per day at no charge, access to all Planet Fitness locations, and access to extra amenities, such as tanning booths and massage chairs. This location on Rt 11 is one of the smallest locations in the area, but one of the nicest. They recently replaced all of their equipment with brand new, much nicer models. They definitely have the best and nicest machines in the area now, and on top of that, have a couple extra machines that the other locations don't have, such as elastic cord rowing machines and stairmaster-type machines. This location also has the nicest, cleanest locker rooms of all the locations, and generally clean bathrooms. The smaller spot can tend to get busy, with less room for people to spread out, especially since it is in a pretty busy area on Rt 11. It's in a plaza, so there's plenty of room to park, and easy access to highways. It's also one of the HOTTEST locations, as it tends to be pretty full, has very small fans on the walls, and that many people working out in that close of quarters means a ton of body heat. Despite the small area, it's still one of my preferred locations.
