This is by far one of the nicest Planet Fitness facilities I've been to! The staff are so friendly and always greet you when you come in, and make sure to say goodbye as you leave. The cleaning supplies are always well stocked, and during your session, you're bound to see an employee cleaning and stocking anything that's low. My one knock, and I'm not sure if it's specific to this one location or if all Planet Fitness locations have this, is the red light therapy booth. I had seen it on TikTok and was excited to try it, but the lights inside the booth never turned red. When I asked the manager on duty if I had done something wrong, she informed me the lights stay white with a pink tone, so it's not a true red light therapy. Overall, if you're looking for a quiet gym to get a good workout in, this location cannot be passed up! read more

Went there last night as a guest with my GF. The front desk employee told me i couldnt come in due to an old balance from 2019. I then asked for a print out of what he was talking about because I moved to another state and had another account, maybe they didnt close it or transfer it. Instead of helping me he kept calling me "Boss" and telling me his computer isnt working right but he cant let me in. 15 min later he wrote all these $10 transaction on a sticky note and ended with, "you gotta pay boss! sorry". I havent been so pissed off in a long time and of course there isnt no online support to contact about what the heck actually happened with my account. Thanks alot "Boss"! read more

So, instead of completely explaining why I am signing a second sheet they just tell you to sign it. After asking why they state it is to have access to my liability waiver. Having been to the PF in Belleville my first trips to the Tayler PF were exceptionally good. The facility is constantly being cleaned by staff members on the floor performing cleaning and maintenance tasks. The keep the sanitizing stations refilled, the equipment is all in good repair. Staff is friendly. The Black Club lounge area is clean, and refreshingly cool. I will be frequenting Taylor PF more because of its convenient locale and the cleanliness of the facility. read more

As a chubby gal, I was mortified at the thought of joining a gym. I've toured gyms before and never felt comfortable with the clientele... it's not that I feel they're judging me, it's just that personally I don't feel comfortable working out with a bunch of meat heads. That's the reason I skipped Powerhouse, even though it's closer to my house. This Planet Fitness is large, organized, well-lit and equipped with a huge variety of machines. These were the reasons that attracted me when I went in for a tour. The next thing I noticed was the clientele. I can say it's a 50/50 mix of men and women of all shapes and sizes. I took comfort in knowing I wouldn't be the only curvy girl working out. This gym made me comfortable as soon as I came in because everyone goes there, not just typical "do you even lift, bro?" dudes. The sales process wasn't pushy. We were given all the details of each membership type, including cancellation fees and annual fees. The people at the counter are nice enough when I go in to visit. I usually see them cleaning the gym up, making sure everything on the floor and in the locker rooms are stocked and organized. The women's locker room is awesome. It's bright and open with tons of lockers both large and small and plenty of bathroom stalls, including handicap access. There are also shower stalls with curtains for those who want to shower at the gym. They provide a hair dyer as well in case you've got places to go after your shower. As for the gym itself... they have music that plays (that sucks usually) and lots of TVs overhead near the ellipticals, treadmills and other cardio equipment. You can bring headphones and choose which TV you want to listen to. I've never been on a machine that was out of order or didn't work properly. The weight machines have clear instructions for use, and other members have even stepped in with advice if I was doing something wrong. The worst thing about this gym is its location in a dark, L-shaped shopping center. It's the only business open at night, so the other storefronts are dark. Since I normally go in the evening, I do not feel safe coming or going in their parking lot. There have been stories in the news about muggings in the lot as well. I'm extra-cautious and observant when I come and go. I wish there was a security car driving around the parking lot at night; it'd definitely put my fears at ease. I've felt really comfortable working out at this gym and am really glad I became a member. It's not too fancy for my needs and it fits my budget. The only thing I dislike is its location, which feels unsafe at night. read more

I was visiting in town from LA with some relatives and thought I would do a 24hr pass. I have to say I have never been in a gym this clean EVER! It was spotless, great equipment, everything is new, maintained, cleaned. Not even in LA have I ever seen a gym this clean and nice. Staff was super helpful, everything was COVID friendly. I just hope the manager reads this to know your staff is doing an excellent job and when I come back in town again to see my relatives I am definitely hitting this gym up again. read more

I love planet fitness period.. This location is nice being a black card member, I love the flexibility that the perk brings. In my life that means soo much considering how I am all over the place due to my crazy schedule. This facility is nice quite large an older version of a pf but still good. Equipment is good, clean locker rooms. The staff is always friendly and engaging and the tanning and massage adequate. One issue I don't like is the parking lot (pot hole city ) It is tore up ! However they are right next to Cattlemens and a girl's got to like that! All in all solid location and a good club. read more

I'd have to respectfully disagree with Jessica's review. While I can agree that the pizza and tootsie rolls are a little gimmick-ish, I think this gym has a great atmosphere. I'm not sure what physical condition she is in, but I'm bigger than average, and I have certainly felt the "In 2 weeks, he won't be here anymore" stares from the career gym folks. Average or slightly heavier than average people may have never experienced this. Personally I've never felt those looks at this PF, and I've found this gym has a good mix of beginners (read: bigger people like me), average folks, as well as workout buffs. As far as the tootsie rolls and pizza, I don't really agree with it either, but most diet's or nutritional regimens don't forbid on a cheat day anyways, and I'm pretty sure they only do it once a month. Can anyone tell me they don't splurge at least once a month as it is? read more

Don't believe the negative posters! This club is clean and the staff is always super friendly! The managers name is Danny and he is simply wonderful. I had to get spinal surgery and I was going to cancel, he informed me with documentation from your Doctor and restrictions on working out they could place me on a 3 month medical freeze. I have to say for the monthly dues you pay to join Planet Fitness, it's worth every penny! I purchased the $19.00 per month 'black" membership which allows me to visit any Planet Fitness facility in the US. This comes in handy as I do travel on occaision for my job. I have found fitness facilities in many hotels to be woefully lacking, and this perk to my membership really helps! When I visit the Taylor facility, I feel right at home and totally unintimidated by the wide range and age of people who go there to work out. Not once have I ever had to wait for the cardio or weight machines (ok, maybe 60-90 seconds tops during peak times) the place is immaculate, and there is always someone wiping or cleaning things down. If you need to introduce a fitness plan into your life, definately give Planet Fitness a try! You won't regret it! read more

i come to this gym everyday, about every morning and every night. the staff has been so friendly up until tonight. whoever the girl that you had working tonight, was rude and definitely did not know how to speak to people. sometimes i tan before i workout. so i went to go sign in and i said "is it this sheet for the stand up bed" and she goes "well if that's the one you want or if you want to wait about 15 minutes for me to print up new pages" she didn't even ask me how long i wanted to go for she just gave me the spray and walked away. i went to go tan and the bed wouldn't turn on. so i had to get dressed and go out there and tell her and she gave me the biggest attitude and acted like it was a big deal. she said "well, you didn't tell me how long you wanted to go for huh" i'm very upset, if i go back and she's there, i'll just leave and go to a different location. read more

When I saw the coming soon sign for this gym, I was ecstatic, I've been trying to fit exercise into my schedule but couldn't find a gym that was conveniently located on my way from work and school. I was also very happy to find that Planet Fitness emphasizes that it is a gym for regular people. I am not in the greatest of shape and going to most gyms is pretty annoying as they tend to be full of people posing for themselves and each other, yelling and tossing weights around. It's just not approachable and can be an uncomfortable environment to just go and get a workout at. This place is low cost and without all the frills that I have absolutely no use for. That whole "No Commitments, No Contracts" thing doesn't apply to the more expensive Black Card membership. You are signed into a year contract that you will be charged $60 for breaking before that. They don't really tell you that, though. At least not until you go to cancel the membership. Deceiving your customers like this is the #1 sign of a shoddy business. I will not recommend this gym to anyone. Their gyms aren't that nice to begin with, and this just makes them completely worthless. read more

First let me say I was a member at the Westland PF for a year before moving to Taylor a few months ago so obviously had to transfer to this location. Since I now have a comparison of the two, it's only natural for me to review comparing. Location is right on busy stretch of telegraph in the home depot plaza. I agree, it's kinda scary walking out when it's dark cause it's the only thing lit and that's only closer to the door. If you happen to park farther back, there are no lights on. I think that's a landowner/city issue and not specifically PF though. Setup: I was surprised with how small it is. Plenty of cardio equipment, treads/elliptical/bikes. The weight machines are few and close together. There is mainly 1-2 machines for everything when Westland has 3. There is a section in the back right for ab work and stretching. I don't think they need 2 areas for this. They could put some more machines they only have 1 of. I don't know, when I go it looks like they aren't utilizing the space they have to their advantage. I rarely see people using the 12 minute ab section and I have been at various times on all days and I think I have seen it being used twice. The stretching area is so small when you have the shelving for the balls, and like 15 machines in one area. and it's first come, first served so if you go on a busy day, forget it. Oh, they only have 4 smith racks when westland has 7. While I haven't had to wait for cardio, I usually have had to wait to use the rack or sometimes the other machines. My whole workout flow is interrupted when i have to wait. And what I don't like about the location of the racks is that 2 of them are right in front of someone's face if you are doing squats. I mean, it's really much closer than i think it should be. I am sorry, I don't want my butt (or anyone else's) in the eyesight of somebody. Westland has there's off to the side. oh, right! it's ALWAYS cold in there. ALWAYS. like I said, it's a lot smaller than westland and they have the 2 huge fans constantly going. I can't get away from the air. even in the corner, I am cold. I can't get a good sweat going cause it's always being evaporated lol omgosh I am always shivering in there. ALWAYS. Music: awful. i wear my buds but will sometimes pause to hear what's on. I think I have heard current music twice in the time I have been here. it's mostly country, rock, techno stuff. like A LOT of country it's amazing how much country is played. i can't lift with that lol it's so bad lol and the music they play on the pfitness tv network is loud and when that's off, the music piped in is low. westland has the best music. it was current, pop, dance, 80s, soft rock, hip-hop, r&b... stuff I actually listen to on my ipod. maybe these are independent owners and the music is played according to their tastes but um, yeah...the volume is always up to drown out the pf noise. Saturday mornings tend to be the days they play rock and country and it's blasting. ugh, the worst. Staff: they smile and check me in, they don't bother me which is what I like. they clean often. I mean they are always cleaning. I can't complain about it being dirty cause they are on point with cleanliness for sure. they say hey or smile when they see me. dave, the trainer, helped me on the dip assist machine and haven't spoken to him since. they do what they do and that's it. no issues with customer service but a little issue with upkeep that ties in with clientele... Clientele: mostly older, couples, and females. I think I had and am still experiencing culture shock. (westland, totally different. ethnically diverse, probably 60% female 40% male and mostly 25s-35ish demographic) Taylor is prob 90% female, 45ish-55ish, and 98% non ethnically diverse lol hey, everybody works out and I can't be mad about that. it's just really different and maybe that's why they play the music that they do?? The gym etiquette is a bit lacking. People don't wipe down after themselves as often, people leave weights laying around. A few times I have had to put stuff back. At different times of the day, things just look disheveled and it's obvious they aren't and haven't been in use. Signs are posted but perhaps it's not being enforced? Not sure how staff can curb that. They just need to be aware that while cleaning, they may have to check to see if things are on the floor or are put up. That's annoying. People sit and sit and sit... I mean no, I am not waiting to use the machine. I am still not sure who the regulars are. Westland, I knew and talked to quite a few people. Here, not so much. Westland, it was vibrant and exciting and had an overall fast paced atmosphere, young, fresh and I looked forward to going. Here, not so much. I look forward to working out yes, but the vibe isn't the same. Overall, it's a gym that I go to and take care of my fitness needs. A gym is a gym but the people/vibe make it more exciting to go to and that's why I like Westland better read more

I'd rather have a detoxing alcoholic with epilepsy perform surgery on my genitals than workout at this place ever again. It's only great for beginners that want to ruin their joints by doing any heavy exercise on the Smith Machine or just get a bad workout on the rest of the machines. At this location, the day staff has no problem blasting the "Lunk Alarm" for any perceived indication that someone is actually trying to get real exercise but have no problem with people hogging equipment to sit there and play on their phones. I am currently The Duke but will not be back after switching to a gym that is focused on health, not feelings and free pizza. read more

I love coming to this gym. I have been coming consistently for a few months now, and I have never been this fit. The staff has always been nice to me and they keep the place very clean. Someone is always cleaning the machines, tanning rooms, and bathrooms. The people who work out here are friendly too. When I started lifting free weights, people were kind and tell you how many more sets hey have before they are done. The fitness trainer, Peter, has been a great addition to the team. When I started my program, I was really nervous about the machines and weights. I was most concerned about injuring myself by doing an exercise wrong. Pete showed me each exercise with care and was accessible whenever I had another question throughout the week. I noticed he does the same with other members. He will go out of his way to check on the members that he has worked with in the past. He is even building a sense of community within our gym because his classes allow us to connect with other members. read more

Friendly staff, equipment is well maintained, and locker rooms are always tidy. I frequent this gym several times a week and always, always, always see the staff mopping, vacuuming, and dusting off equipment. The tanning and massage areas are well maintained and always stocked with paper towels. Anyone leaving negative reviews or complaining about lunk alarms are mostly likely douchebags with small pp's. Absolutely nothing wrong with working out at planet fitness. If you can't find equipment here to suit your needs then you're not doing it right. Keep up the good work! read more

I had never been tanning before and wanted to try it. The guy at the desk was rude and looked at me like I was completley stupid when I asked what the diffrence was between the tanning beds they had. He never informed me I needed eye protection. When he asked me how long I wanted to tan I told him I wasnt sure since i hadnt been. He said either 10 minutes or a half hour. I said 10 minutes. Well after laying in the tanning bed with my eyes closed it seemed like it had been awhile. I peeked at the timer it read 18 minutes and so many seconds. I freaked and got out asap. I have never been so burnt in my life. At 1st when signed up!! & this guy named Dan so called trainer Gave me a schdule...I was like WTF! I felt like he gave me a BS schdule just cause he had to do his job! Anyway....he left...GOOD MOVE PLANET FITNESS! They replaced him with this guy PETER....I call him "P" for short! Anyway......the guy was FREAKING GREAT! I told him what areas I want to work on...he was on it!! He gave me a schdule that worked out all my bad areas... He even did a upper body work out with me...showed me all the machines I needed to use...wrote down the setting & how many sets to do! I walked out of there sore from just that one day! & I had been exercising for a whole month & was never sore!! PETER.....ASK FOR HIM! HES NICE.....PATIENT....KIND...NO ATTITUDE...GREAT PERSONALITY!! First off. Let me qualify my opinion. Been a member at several gyms through the years (Fitness USA, Bally's, Snap Fitness & Planet Fitness ((5 years, 6 locations in 3 different States)). I'm no means a 'lunk' as PF tends to shy away from. I enjoyed PF due to the size & price point. Been in retail for 15 years, degree in Marketing, minor in Management. However, This location (TAYLOR, MI) is by far the worse out of the 6 I've been to. Yes, they keep the location clean, but the Customer Service is horrible. I had a issue w/ Scott (he's the reason I'm leaving them). Had a workout overshirt I use to warm up. When I'm done, I fold it and put it next to my after workout shaker on the large metal bench that stays about 3 feet off the ground. I've had it drapped over the exercise bike as I've worked out and been told its a potential trip hazard and to remove it from the gym area. Now, if your location is a stickler for rules, then why allow hand towels next to the machines, trip hazard, right? Why allow water bottles over 20oz (against their rules too)? I've NEVER had ANY other employee from the 6 other locations I've been to (I've done this in every one of them) tell me this in the middle of my workout. I've never had ANY employee at THIS location tell me this. Just him. Now, this location sounds their 'lunk' alarm more than ANY location I've ever been to...so, it seems like a gym that advertises Judgemental Free seems to judge more than its peers ((especially since only 1-2 of the employees I've actually seen work out there). I've written corporate about him 2 months ago. No response. I've contacted corporate about him 10 min ago and left a message (doubt I'll get a call back). Contacted the gym and complained to the manager (Eric) and had some issues w/ my remark about people with hand towels. So, they canceled my membership since I cursed at Scott when he approached me. So be it. The EMPLOYEE is there because of the CUSTOMER, not above the CUSTOMER. I've been to the Dearborn location (heard bad things about them, had a good experience the two times I've been there), been to th Southgateone (always a good experience there) but Taylor, no way, no how. I'm off to Powerhouse or Dearborn Raquet Club. Stay away from this location. If you must go to PF, look at Southgate. read more
