We did the Mat Sculpt Pilates class in their hot room. The room was set up so that you aren't directly across from anyone so you don't have to worry about making awkward eye contact while working. Each mat was set up with the accessories needed for the workout - I just laid out a towel and my friend grabbed me a facial towel. There was a cubby and shoe station by the door with a coat rack. The instructor, Bella, was knowledgeable, easy to hear, and led a positive and upbeat class. There was a warm up period followed by a few distinct sets that targeted different parts of the body. I had to modify most of the moves because I lacked the core strength to do them but I never felt judged or like anyone cared. The instructor was helpful without drawing attention to anyone struggling - like myself. I would definitely be willing to go back I recommend giving LunaSol a try.

I am NOT a fitness freak and often make excuses to be active, so it's saying a lot that I go out of my way to do this. Josh and Tim are amazing! My husband and I trained with them a few years ago after being totally sedentary. I had gained a ton of weight in med school and felt like a blob. Besides losing over thirty pounds in a year working out three to four times a week, I also gained muscle (but not in the unfeminine way that I was thinking I would), strength, and confidence. All I had to do was show up and do what they told me, which was a mix of strength training, flexibility, and cardio. Seriously, I went from not being able to do a 'real' push-up to being able to do over a hundred in a minute after about a year, which was super amazing for me. I like that both Josh and Tim will push you to your limits and give you a really good workout but won't yell at you, judge you, or make you feel bad about yourself. (I'm sure they can yell at you if you want them to, but that doesn't work for me). Their workouts are efficient, always changing, and challenging. They also teach you great form while doing different exercises (with or without equipment), and other trainers I've worked with after them have commented on my form and being taught well. Finally, they can also give you nutrition advice if you want it. Besides all this fitness stuff, they are also just great guys to hang out with and talk to, and you can tell that they are really passionate about their jobs. Do yourself a favor if you want to lose weight or get in shape and check them out for a few months. They have a fitness assessment when you start that can help you track your progress. You'll be amazed at what can happen over a few weeks!

Who wants to be physically vulnerable to someone you don't care for or trust? I've been training with Josh at Infinite Iron for a few years now, and a large part of that has to do with how he works with me: he's great! I'm not someone who responds particularly well to yelling--I want to do whatever it is set in front of me, but occasionally I need help with keeping count and remembering what's next. Josh is highly observant and picked up on that pretty quickly, with no yelling along the way. He's pretty easygoing to start. I've also had the chance to observe him work with many different kinds of people, old and young, and he modifies his style as necessary. If yelling's your thing, he can accommodate. He's also well-versed in nutrition and continuously modifies what we do. When I first started, I had different goals than I do now, and he takes that into account. We've done a variety of exercises using all sorts of things, and just when I think I've experienced it all, he comes up with something new. He's also motivating when it comes to accountability. Initially, I only planned to stay a few months to learn things and then continue on my own, but I realized training with him several mornings a week was a large part of the success of the rest of my day. Check him out! You'll be glad you did.

Is it a five star gym, no it's not, but it could be. First off Courtney is a great ambassador for the gym. She is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very friendly. She is also beautiful and in very good shape. Criticize me if you want, but those things matter. My review is more focused on the weight training/cardio side of the gym. There is a lot going on in this, what I would call, medium size space. The equipment is all in good shape, it's just not organized in a way to take full advantage of the space. Even still, some things are lacking like; a second rack of dumbbells...at least for the lighter weights less than 40 say, there we no small dumbbells either and a lot of people like myself, do high rep workouts so need those small hand weights e.g. 2#, 3#, 4#...up to 10#, a captains chair and/or dip rack would be a good addition as would a Smith Press. There is also a need for more mirrors. I saw some folks doing squats and there is no mirror for them to check form. A lot of the best gyms I have been in had 80-90% of the walls covered in mirrors - the more the better. There also needs to be a dedicated area with matts for people to stretch and do floor exercises. Or at least put some signs up so people do not use the area in front of the dumbbell rack for this purpose. Too be fair, some of the items I mentioned might be in the cross fit area, but if they are, they should be moved or duplicated. Again it's a layout issue for the most part. It might seem I am being overly critical, but I am not really. I am providing honest feedback from someone who knows his way around gyms. However, it does depend on what the owner's goal is. It could be possible Cross Training is their main focus and they want to stay away from, what I would call, a "power lifter" atmosphere....which is fine. Although some of the items I mentioned would still be beneficial. I also do not know how long this gym has been around, but I suspect it's relatively new so things could be in the works. Another thing to consider it the music played in the gym. Being 68 years old I am not a fan of whatever was on, but I might suggest a better mix/blend of different music genres. Personally, I think easy listening/soft rock is best since even young folks can relate. For some people it can be a deal breaker. On the positive side the gym is well lite, very clean with clean bathrooms and even saunas which were hot and and also very clean. it's in a good location and with proper signage and advertising could have a healthy membership. Owning and operating a gym is hard work and even harder to turn a profit. I wish the owners luck with this endeavor because you cannot have too many gyms in my book

It's not a huge place, and most of their space extends the long way back through the building, leaving the actual storefront you see on the street rather narrow and small. When you walk inside, you see the super cool, urban loft style to the studio - one large room with gleaming hardwood floor, exposed brick wall, and Detroit artwork hung about. They offer group classes and personal training sessions only, so this is not your standard "drop in and work out on your own" gym. The schedule has regular spin, zumba, pilates, and yoga classes, and personal training sessions can be scheduled by appointment. Classes are reasonably priced, you must schedule and reserve ahead (no drop ins) because the place is small and they don't want to overbook. But, the scheduling system is online, very simple, and allows you to add in or cancel nearly right up until the class start time. Every class I've gone to was a hit - energetic and helpful instructors and good music! The clientele tends to be lots of young professionals who live nearby in Corktown, Midtown, downtown, etc. and everyone is very friendly. All levels of fitness welcome. I only wish True Body would add a few more varieties of classes to their schedule (kickboxing, please!!!) and maybe some more Saturday day times, so I could go more often. You know the drill with these gyms, they offer you a free week pass but you have to go in person, get the spiel from one of their sales reps, fill out tons of crap, and get hounded with ads and phone calls for the rest of your life until you join - not so here. Go online and sign up with their class scheduler, and if you've ever taken any class at one of these boutique gyms then you're already familiar with the Mind Body Connect platform. Add the "one week free" item to your cart and sign up for classes. DONE. I walked in that same day for a 90min spin class. No calls or questions when I stopped going. Some might prefer more attention, which I get, but I was thrilled with their hands off approach. Totally friendly, worth checking out. For you spinners out there, they have a series of classes that work towards riding a full century. I'm definitely going to check that out when it comes around again.

These 6 people all ranged in athletic levels from couch potato to olympic style weight lifting. I love how PIYO has strength building and stretching. Its follow-the-leader style and set to music, so you don't have to worry about counting. I and everyone I've tried it with say its challenging but it's fun and they feel good after class. I love the inexpensive drop in classes! It makes it really easy to invite a friend to try it out. It also helps if you're like me and your schedule changes frequently. I first came to the studio because my friends and I wanted to check out the hip-hop class just for something fun to do for a night. While I was there, I saw they had a PIYO class. I was curious and dropped in on that one the next week. Now I am hooked. I bought a package of classes and can use them on any of the classes, so I can try out new ones or go to my favorite (PIYO). I love the whole attitude of the Studio. Christy is especially positive and fun. She is always saying things like "exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not punishment for something you ate". The "vibe" is about getting stronger, feeling good in your own body, and doing whats right for you. If you fall behind in class or have to take a breather, she never calls you on it. She provides variations of the moves to meet everyone's fitness levels. I tried Cindy's Boot Camp Class-- another challenging class but I liked it. I would go more often if my schedule allowed it. I also tried the hip-hop class, which is also follow-the-leader style, so it's like a dance party. Very fun and I appreciated the clean music. I feel like most of us are excited about joining a health club, and more often than not, we bypass the understanding that all gyms have yearly fees and cancellation fees; this is completely normal. In my opinion, the highlights of this gym include the space and variety of rooms available to ensure a great workout. They offer 2-3 different machines for the upper, mid, and lower body, which is great! For advanced fitness enthusiasts, this means you won't have to wait to complete your workout routine. For beginners, I highly recommend hiring one of their skilled personal trainers to start your fitness journey the right way. Any day is a good day to practice self-care. So far, one of my favorite machines is the standing hamstring curl; this machine is a gem, and I'm super happy they have it. The gym is clean, the bathrooms are neat, the weights are organized, and they offer spray bottles with towels for you to wipe down the machines after every use. I have yet to try the classes and provide feedback, or the smoothie bar, hydro massage, and sauna. Eventually, I will. This health club has a lot to offer for everyone, no matter what fitness level you are at. I'm glad I started going here, and I'm looking forward to making new friends.
