This is one of the cleanest gyms I have been to. Management here runs a tight ship. Imelda one of the managers, always greets me with a smile. She always asks how am I doing and is extremely welcoming. The morning front desk and afternoon employees are always kind. It should be just as easy to cancel as it is to set up an account. I called to cancel my membership and the front desk lady was rude and not helpful . I shouldn't have to physically walk in to cancel when I opened the account up via app. I have not once checked-in because they immediately charged $25/mo when I thought it was $10 . Fantastic gym, very professional staff, and spacious. It gets crowded sometimes, but that's what happens when you have more to offer than just a sign-up and go. One of the best PF's I've ever been to. Super spacious, with lots of different kinds of machines I've never seen at the others I've gone to. Not even my home gym has them. The equipment here actually counts the reps you do per exercise !! I love that because I do sometimes tend to lose count . Horrible HORRIBLE HORIIIBLE PARKING!!!!! Every time I come I deal with going in circles for over 20 min looking for parking. People sit in their cars for long periods of time. Gym is PACKED where we have to resort to only using dumbbells (if there even are any available). This gym is spacious, and on the weekend MORNINGS the parking situation is fine. But if you're looking to come on the weekday... forget it.. you'll be going round and round when instead you can be inside working out. read more

Horrible customer service and high hidden fees. Paper towels and sanitizer spray not monitored. If they run out they don't check it till u have to tell them. Late fee is $20 even if it's a bank error. Their literal excuse for not trying to wave the fee (literally a few days after)was management "doesn't want to push for that". I travel a lot for work but this is my local location. It is much cleaner and less crowded before noon here than the other locations in the area. The crowd meter never goes above 3 little clicks even when it is packed which is how I found out the hard way this place is jam packed at night. There seems to be new people working almost every time I come in now but they are friendly to everyone except there are no purple tootsie roll signature candies to look forward to haha at least all the equipment is functioning right now read more

Unfortunately this gym can be summarized in one word a 'dump'. Here's just a brief summary of the issues - plenty of broken equipment everywhere - missing/stolen equipment (no rope pull-down, spring clips, padding -- you have to sign out for them) - incompetent, rude and frankly dumb employees -- they hire anyone with a pulse - overcrowded, most people here strangely don't wear workout attire. Not sure why that is but there's a lot of people dressed like gangsters wearing jeans, chinos, extremely baggy clothing, covered in tattoos. Probably the staff is too afraid to say anything. - the only planet fitness I've been too that doesn't have a water bottle filler. And has extremely low inconsistent water pressure so you can barely fill up your bottle. How cheap the owner must be to have such a decrepit water fountain, that is always broken! I doubt they ever changed the filter or ever will. Tastes horrible! - barely functioning A/C, this gym is at 82°F or higher at all times -- that's insanely hot for a gym! - the only Planet Fitness I've been to that doesn't have a single fan! wtf? how are you supposed to do cardio without those giant fans PF normally has. The owner is so cheap they literally cut every corner imaginable to offer the absolute bare minimum, idk how PF corporate isn't embarrassed of this dump and allows it to run like this... - extremely loud music (and staff is not allowed to touch it per management instructions -- same with A/C) - 'summer special' allows children/tweens to workout here for free, they come, crowd the gym and stink up the place in large obnoxious groups and sit on machines holding them hostage on their phones - staff singles out random people to harass while others are seemingly allowed to break rules - dirty locker room and disgusting bathroom, graffiti and lots of broken lockers - Dirty parking lot covered in graffiti and a drunk man who as I write this review is literally walking around in circles. Be careful, it's dangerous here and of course theres no security or even the suggestion of security whatsoever... so lock your cars and hide your valuables. - lastly careful for trash, debris, bottles of piss, and broken glass from cars that have been smashed into and trash everywhere in the parking lot. - I guess the silver lining here, "if you can call it one"; is if you're hungry there's plenty of unlicensed people outside making food on the street so you can do squats while munching on a burrito or pupusa! ********* @PLANET FITNESS CUSTOMER SERVICE I saw your message below. While I applaud your attempt to craft a message that tried to deflate the urgency and severity of these issues and remove your responsibility to fix them; I do have to point out that you have failed and quite humorously too. The issues with your gym are listed here both plainly and clearly, in simple English. If you have the ability to read, then you have the ability to fix this. Feel free to address all, some or none of the issues listed above, yourself or allow your establishment to fall into further disrepair and neglect. It's your business, it's your choice. As you can see in the other reviews, this place gets PACKED in the evenings, to the point that there's absolutely nowhere to park, and you have zero chance of touching the smith machines, cable machines, or finding a speck of mirror to stand in front of while using the free-weights. Yet the crowd meter NEVER goes above three bars out of a possible ten. Clearly, management is responding to the complaints here and is aware of it. And does nothing. I've also tried showing up at 5am when they open. In the time it takes for me to put my things in the locker and warm up for three minutes, all the smith machines are full and most of those folks will be on the machine for 30+ minutes. I'm very flexible about my workout, I'm willing to roll with the punches, but usually at least two nights a week, it's nearly pointless unless you only want to do cardio and aren't picky about which machine you use. Every strength machine is in use, often by a group of folks all chatting and rotating through. If you can come work out in a group, that's clearly the only strategy here as far as the strength equipment goes. Make it fun and efficient like those folks. I regularly find loose bolts on the equipment. Today I had to try three different sanitation stations before I finally found one that wasn't out of paper towels. When I tried to let staff know there was just the one poor staff member at the front desk trying to manage some folks trying to sign up and other folks unhappy about the parking situation. I gave up after a while. Basically, I really regret signing up for this place. When I got my membership they'd just opened, and everything was new and clean and perfect, and it was never crowded. And then it just EXPLODED with people all at once. Wish I'd shopped around, I'd definitely pay a little bit more to actually get to use the strength machines with enough consistency to actually improve. read more

MANAGER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I've been coming to this gym for a few months now and dealt with the broken machines and limited space, but this experience took things over the edge. On 12/3/24 at appropriately 7:30pm, what appears to be the manager was walking around the gym barking orders at the surrounding guest. She yelled me stating " you can't have your bag on the floor, you need to get it and put it in the locker" then walked away. I was unaware of that gym's rule due to not having signs. But her interactions, just rubbed me the wrong way, she yelled me at like I was her child! I plan to cancel my membership due to her interactions. I don't recommend anyone go to this gym! read more

New facility - not well maintained equipment. Poorly planned, doesn't even have a water bottle filler. Broken equipment in a new facility, doesn't have signs on the equipment making it a game to see which one is working. Manager does not like to hear comments about the broken equipment or trash in the parking lot and will instead black list you instead of proper maintance and cleaning. Manager wasn't helpful at all. I called another planet fitness explained my situation and they were going to fix it. But I wasn't able to because I did not sign up there. So I called this planet fitness and tried to have my issue fixed but the manager didn't seem to care or want to fix my issue. So I just canceled my membership. I joined this gym a couple of months ago. The price was right and the location is perfect. They have plenty of cardio equipment to use but it is always too hot in there. I think it's just the design of the building with the ceiling two stories high and plenty of glass in the front of the building. The thermostat was set at 61 but it was 78 in the room. Today I tried to go there to work out after work and it was 85. I asked the girl at the front desk if the A/C was broken, and her short answer was "Yes". I left. There is a room with equipment that is supposed to be used for a quick circuit, which it clearly says on a sign outside the room. It also says that it is monitored for that, which is a total lie. People park themselves on machines and scroll on their phone. So much for a quick workout. I will give it another month and then back to LA Fitness. read more

I recently switched from crunch to PF because it was closer, better parking and a new facility. All of that remains true. My issue is that on 1/17 (my first month of billing) it said my dues were paid. Now 4 days later I get hit with a $20 late fee for late payment after I was given no notice that it was in fact late. No email, no call, been here every day so it wasn't even on the app. I express the issue to the front desk expecting them to fix the issue and all I get is a "sorry". It's whatever as the first "month" was technically a dollar but I'm really unhappy with how uncustomer centric a gym I just joined is showing itself to be. A huge bummer when you don't feel like your business is appreciated, especially with other cheap gyms on every block of van nuys. Do better, planet fitness. read more

I love this gym!! As a customer/member of Planet Fitness, I love this brand new location that has plenty of parking in the parking lot and all new equipment. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the entire gym is always clean! Not to mention the size of this gym is huge so even during busy times I do not find it overcrowded. Plenty of space and all new fitness equipment/machines. The bathrooms are all new and there is a locker room and showers! As a black card member, I go to the hydro massage after my workout and it feels amazing!! 5 star gym for an incredible price! read more

I've barely been a member at this gym for 2 months and had to cancel it for many reasons. The gym first rubbed me the wrong way one morning after I checked in at the front . I scanned my bar code and walked to the rest room. I did not realize my check in didn't process at the front and no one told me anything as I walked all the way to the restroom . When I walk out of the bathroom the manager is standing there waiting for me so she can walk me back to the front to check in again. I don't know what about catching people off guard like that and waiting for them outside the bathroom she thought was okay. I was in the locker room for at least 5 min and to walk out and find someone there waiting for me put me on guard and ruined my workout from the very beginning. I have memberships at many gyms in the area and have been in gyms for years. There is a certain gym culture that's welcoming and create a motivating and positive gym vibe . The staff here is NOT that at all and you can feel it. The staff here have ruined my workout the way they have approached me and everyone looks miserable. This gym is not a welcoming environment to workout and they walk around the gym floor policing people while they workout. My last straw was when I was working out on the smith machine with my shoes off (socks on) and my bag on the ground . The staff came up to me and said I can't have my shoes off and my bag has to be locked in their lockers . Like I said I've been apart of MANY gyms and I've never had this issue. I'm also not going to store my belongings in their lockers when I have gym equipment in my bag that I actually use when I workout, that's the point of a gym bag!!!! I canceled my membership, the management should really stop policing members while they're trying to workout . After being a loyal member for many years and just newly moving to the area, would not let me transfer this as my new home gym unless I physically went to the other one. Took about 30 minutes in the lobby for them to figure that out. I was just stunned, and asked if I could at least work out here until it gets sorted since I just fought through traffic to get there. They laughed me off the edge there as I can't even believe it. I say that this is really upsetting and insane right and it makes me want to just cancel the entire membership and the lady legit goes cool let's do this right now and starts going into her computer. After a few minutes of here "calling my bluff", or whatever that even was, she says "oh can't actually do that either, you gotta go to your home gym. Sorry!" And goes to physically walk me out as if I'm some big problem. As I did nothing wrong and was quiet and polite and literally just wanted to work out. Does the lunk alarm even work at this location? There's always these group of men around 5pm during the week that like to slam weights and grunt when working out it's really disruptive even with my music on . I feel like this is why one of the smiths machines was broken last time they like to add so much weights that it slams and the noise grunts!!!!!! Cust service sucks . I moved out of state sent the. Cancellation letter but still charged for this month. Can't use the gym this month because of location and was told letter came in two days after billing cycle 10 yh letter came 12 th charged on 19 th. Right thing to do was to refund since I am not even in the same state to use this month no told can't do anything. They suck a$$. Don't waste your time or money. Just recently switched to this location from the Burbank one and I absolutely love it. Machines are up to date, location is clean, layout is well done and staff is very friendly! I like everything about this location, except the fact that you do not have a bike rack outside. I live 10 blocks away and would like to ride my bike to the gym and be able to secure it outside. Josh, the trainer at this location (Van Nuys, CA) is fantastic. I have only been working with him for a few weeks, but he is already my biggest supporter. I had been contemplating switching to a different gym, but Josh is 100% of the reason I stayed at Planet Fitness. Josh makes going to the gym a fun experience. He makes me happy to be there and excited to work out. Before I began training with Josh, I had no idea what I was doing in my fitness journey. He sat down with me and created a routine that catered to my physical abilities and knowledge. If I ever need any help or am ready to move forward in my journey he is happily there to assist. Taking fitness classes with Josh feels just like you are working out with a friend. His positive attitude makes you want to keep signing up for more classes. He pushes me forward in my workouts and has proven to me that I am stronger than I ever thought I could be. He has strengthened my confidence and understanding not only in fitness but in myself as a person too. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his clients and loves the work he does by the way he takes the time to thoroughly explain and demonstrate each exercise. He will continue to explain until you understand and get it right. He never makes you feel like you are doing a bad job or are not capable of doing the routine. He will always meet you on whatever level you need him to be at. I have never had a negative interaction with Josh, and he continues to bring joy and laughter into my daily gym routine. When I finish a hard workout or beat a personal weightlifting record, he is the first person I want to tell and celebrate with.
