Good, not great. Three stars seems low for the complaint I have, but this issue is so prevalent, it becomes really annoying and a distraction. We workout late and have done it off and on for years, to avoid crowds. Yes lots of young people are on their phones, scrolling, looking at workouts (maybe), posting for sure! One young couple near the front window, seemed like they were having a date. Lots of touching, wrestling (I am not kidding!) the guy picking the girl up etc., followed by the guy removing his shirt and posing topless in front of the mirror. So much for rules. The girls at the counter were busy chatting and any other workers never see to go near these people. And yes, the 30 minute, yellow room, had various people just staying on one machine without moving. Unless you're going to go up (as another member) and ask them to move, AND clean the machine and reset it, you're not gonna bother. We are super flexible, so we just find equipment that is free, but the lack of any awareness of rules, or just gym etiquette, has to be a direct result of the employees not enforcing nay rules. Somethings have improved, but others have not. 4 stars for not having broken machines, cleanliness (we don't use the locker room, and almost never the bathrooms), and layout and available equipment. Having a 24 hour gym is essential when you work off hours. Unfortunately this gym is allowing a part time employee to LIVE IN THE LOCKER ROOM! It is very uncomfortable using the shower and bathroom while a grown woman over the age of 50 is set up in there like it's her apartment. She has a chronic cough and vapes sending smoke all over the dressing room/shower area. The manager is fully aware as well as nighttime staff who have received SEVERAL complaints about the homeless employee. It's unfortunate that she doesn't have housing but living in the locker room is not the solution! The manager should look into renting this woman a room and or seek housing assistance from the county. If Planet Fitness wants to house their part time employee then they should put her in the back room and provide her a bed to sleep in there away from gym members who pay for a gym not a homeless shelter. read more

Planet Fitness charge you an annual fee even though you cancel the membership after 30 days. They hook you up with a scam offer when in reality they charge you $70+ regarles if you cancel the account , even thought supposedly there's not annual contract. This gym was so disappointing on my last visit with my daughter . This is not our home gym and we were told by the SRQ location , that it's owned by the same entity , it's like night and day , the place was dingy , dirty , no paper towels , tissue in 75% of the bathroom stalls I imagine with staffing issues it's gotta be difficult at times to keep up ,butttt you gotta have the bathrooms stocked for hygiene purposes with soap and paper goods. The machines had alot of signs saying temporarily out of order . And the way they were positioned was difficult to walk past people in fear you were going to bump into them while they were doing leg extensions. I felt very uncomfortable the way the machines were positioned in front of the treadmills , so while I'm working my chest I am directly in front of a treadmill with a creepy guy staring at me only a few feet away. This happened while I used many other machines( I'm a 56 year old women that was fully dressed in leggings and a long sleeve top .so I wasn't in revealing attire to be gawked at. The machine set up at the other clubs they are all in a row and the people on the treadmills are on the side of you or they see your back . And I mean this location was very creepy . Sweating all over the machines and walking away without wiping them down is the routine here . Way too many people use this location , it was packed , the people must not check in because almost every treadmill and bike was being used and we wound up just leaving and going back to our home gym because we didn't feel like we got a good work out I was friends with the late father Denis Rondeau of CEO /founder Chris Rondeau who prided his son's hard work ethic and desire of creating an affordable gym program for everyone to enjoy . Unfortunately a franchise is a franchise and you can't have every person who buys into the concept to put 150% effort into maintaining it . You just can't buy it and expect it to run itself . Like another reviewer posted, I've had the experience of people camping out on equipment. Tonight, some kid was sitting on the only functioning leg extension machine, not using it, but scrolling on his phone for 20 minutes. I confronted him about it finally, but he just a flippant reply and went back to scrolling. This should not be MY job! This gym needs to be monitored so this doesn't happen! Even after multiple complaints they refuse to instruct people on the express workout or enforce the rules. People camp out on the equipment, use their cell phones, ignore the clock and the employees just shrug. I go to the gym because I do like the overall vibe and people working out ...but this particular one is not kept as well as the others I have been too. I never see any of the employees cleaning and see the same dirt on the floor and equipment day after day. All the other locations I have been too have someone cleaning always. The changing facilities here have had the same hair and dirt on the floor for months ...in the same spot. I literally found chewed gum on top of the weights on equipment yesterday which I removed as it was gross. The employees are always standing at desk talking or doing nothing. It's sad honestly. The owner needs to visit or set up cameras to see how bad it is. Check the floors and equipment for dust and dirt! Staff is really nice, I really like coming here. The maintenance team is also amazing, really hard working. Always walking into a clean bathroom when I come in and a clean area to workout with everyone coming here just feels like a friendly environment. Went to PF today. Almost no one wearing masks. Very loose company policy on masks. Very uncomfortable trying to work out. I finally left, but before leaving I froze my membership and will not go back until I feel safe working out there. Disappointing at how unseriously they take the latest deadly surge in coronavirus. Just heard back from PF. They say that their members' safety is most important. That is glib and disingenuous. The proof is in the lax oversight of member's behavior. I was there. The men's room almost always has the toilet or urinal out of order and they need to be cleaned more often. They have been without a bench for at least 6 months in the dressing area. The showers need to be cleaned as the walls are moldy. read more

Locker rooms are dirty, showers are disgustingly dirty with mold on the walls, and several machines have pads that are worn out/cracked and need to be replaced. I am a black card member at another Planet Fitness gym, which is very clean and well maintained. I will not be going back to the Venice Planet Fitness gym. read more

I recently moved down here from southern CA where we had more gyms and workout facilities one could imagine. I must say that Planet Fitness has totally exceeded my expectations! I am hooked! It feels great to say that I am hooked on going to the gym. Here is what I love about this location: Open 24/7 Friendly Staff Clean and functioning machines (everyone seems to be wiping the machines down after using them!) Spacious Clean showers The Black Card Spa is AMAZING! I couldn't believe that for such a low price I can come ANYTIME and use the Full Body Enhancement Machine, HydroMassage and the Chair Massage (I don't use the tanning beds, but they have those there as well) 30-minute group workouts - I love the 30-minute format! You can take it at your own level of intensity, so the classes are suitable for anyone! Looking at the past poor reviews, I can only conclude that the management has done something about it because I don't see anything that one could complain about at this facility. My only complaint would be that they have a pizza and beagle night...which I find it to be absolutely RIDICULOUS. It would be amazing if they had a night that would show their community how to be healthier outside of the gym, not give them pizza and beagles. I have been coming to this location for almost a year and the facility is beautiful, staff is friendly and always accommodating. This being said, I am pretty sure there is a homeless man that is ALWAYS using the massage bed and chairs. Tonight, I rolled into the gym later than usual and surprise, surprise I see him on the couch, sleeping with a foot long subway sandwich (which was stinking up the place). I go get a workout in and want to relax in a chair, come to find out he is in one, again. Now I'm not against him using the facilities, but he is literally there ALL hours using the massage chairs and hydro beds. I get to sit next to him as he is watching football and yelling! He also left a bloody napkin on the chair table next to me! Not to mention he smells horrendous! I am no way shaming a homeless man but come on!! Nobody can do anything and those poor kids just let him stay. I am just totally disgusted and to top it off, only 1 hydro bed is working at the moment. Currently two of the four showers in the men's locker room is broken, one of them has been broken for at least a month. A line now forms of guys waiting to use a shower. The work out floor needs a good vacuuming to clean up the dirt and accumulated dust. Pads on several machines are torn or cracked. Regular maintenance does not seem to be a priority here. read more

I've been a member 4 years with no real issues until last night. I walked in to do a quick workout they place was empty at 8pm on a Saturday I thought great! Approaching the counter to sign in a customer was at counter with 20 different problems ..as she went through them the clerk never acknowledged me just kept chatting with customer (about billing issues) it had been 16 minutes I waited to st least he acknowledge. Nothing no eye contact...when I finally complained a younger girl comes over I tell her what's happening and she tells me no way I was there 26 minutes. This gym is terrible about equipment maintenance. Stepmills in particular. Almost always between 2 and 4 out of serivce out of the 5 they have. They get fixed after months of waiting only to break down again within weeks. Clearly they all need to be replaced. Hi, I went to plant Fitness on 3/4/2023 approximately 8:40 pm to take a shower for work and when I enter the womans shower room it was very very nasty big ball of hair all in the stall, use razor condition bottle on the floor, huge puddle of slippery shampoo water in the stall dressing and shower stall. and plant fitness was'nt busy at all when I arrived it only had approximately 8 people in side of the gym. I was very upset because long as I been coming to this gym it use to be really clean. right now to me this gym deserves a star rate of a two sorry but it does. I have been a member of Planet Fitness for four years at another location. The Venice location is nothing like any of the others I have been to in North and South Carolina. After moving here I visited to get my workout in, the front desk made sure to tell me that I could only "visit" nine times a month. When I joined in NC it was implied that you had unlimited access to any Planet Fitness. The staff seems to be mostly behind the desk. I've only seen one employee cleaning the equipment. The place and equipment smells, my clothes smell when i leave there. Staff needs to be making sure people wipe down the equipment when they are done. As far as equipment it seems to be in good repair and working as it should. The one thing I don't understand is why they only have one chest fly machine that has two different uses. Always have to wait to use this one. Pretty much two of everything else. I am looking for another gym that is cleaner and has a friendlier staff . This morning my daughter's belongings (wallet, car keys, expensive shoes, clothes, about $200 make-up and shower products etc.) were stolen from Planet Fitness. We immediately called the police. Planet Fitness refused to release the security footage to the police without a subpoena. We know exactly who stole the belongings and the footage would have shown her leaving through the front door with my daughter's things in hand. I think it is very strange that they would not protect the patrons that pay a monthly fee to be there an instead are protecting the people that make it unsafe to be there at 5 in the morning. We were not trying to hold them responsible for anything but wanted the opportunity to hold the thief responsible so that maybe this wouldn't happen to someone else. Large groups congregating nearby each other, taking down signs that restrict equipment use for social distancing, people with generally bad gym etiquette even outside of a pandemic. If you are at all concerned about Covid19 and working out. I'd stay away from Planet Fitness. Before today the Venice PF required you to wear a mask coming in and leaving as well as when you move from station to station. I was just there today and 20-30 people in the club and only half even had a mask in their position. I asked the Manager why. Apparently Corporate has changed it's mind. They now only require you to wear a mask when on the "tile". Basically just coming and going passed the front desk. Thus protecting their own staff but really don't care about their customers. And try to get ahold of anyone in Corporate. Ha, ha. If you call customer service, you have to leave a phone message. It'll be interesting to see if anyone will return my call. I really like going here but I wish that things weren't broken so much and that there was more of a selection on equipment. They have a lot of the same thing. I pay for a black card and can't even use the tanning equipment right now cause every single tanning bed isn't working. First of all this place is INCREDIBLE! The staff are really friendly and helpful. They have tons of equipment, and a million high definition TVs. It is super clean; actually the cleanest gym I've been in. And the No Judgement Zone is for real. Everyone in here is friendly.
