Since they moved they removed all the rules and do not enforce anything, so it is crazy here, people in jeans, flip flops, phones, not breaking down weights after use, most never use or clean machines, so many on phones talking and surfing taking forever to use all, you are at a gym work out. Fix all these broken machines, just so much is broken here for months on end. Get off your phones! Ironically, many smell so bad of pot here, sad they need to come to do exercise high on drugs. Planet Fitness in Vero Beach is one of the cleanest gyms I've ever been to. The staff clearly takes pride in keeping the place spotless, and it really makes a difference. Even when it gets busy, I can always find something to do--whether it's cardio, strength training, or stretching areas, there's always equipment available. I have been to prob 6 different Planet Fitness locations in both South Florida and Buffalo NY and this one is prob the worst. Not to say it is bad, but it definitely lacks something's other locations have. They don't have the hydro massage beds which is a huge benefit at most locations. They also don't have kettlebells or TRX equipment. The lack of these items isn't a deal breaker but does make this location rather weak. I am sure a lot of the reasons is due to lack of space. There are rumors of a location move at some point which would def help. Or maybe opening up another location out west? The mall has plenty of open space. I have seen department stores converted into gyms. There is a location in the Boynton Beach mall. They have a lot of dumb employees and management here. Yesterday at the peak of workout time at 11am on Wed with the max number of people, they close off huge sections of the gym to clean and you could not use a huge section of the gym, instead of doing it at night or when it is not busy. They do not have any common sense or smarts here at this gym. They always have tons or broken, rusted, and ungreased machines, they just do not take care of anything, it continues from the old site. They have a manager who has no social skills to say good morning, or look at you or smile, they really are ill prepared here and do not put their customers first at this gym. They allow a lot of personal training, although they say it is prohibited. They have so many rules, but do not enforce any of them, so many with slippers on, crocs, so many selfish people here on their phones and one person using many things at the same time, being very selfish. This gym is full of snowbirds who are like hawks, driving people crazy, yet on their phones and do not move. The selfishness and mediocrity at this gym is so apparent, a microcosm of our society today of selfishness and greed. read more

I've been a member for approximately 3 years but had not been active until last November when I hired a personal trainer. The gym has a lot of equipment but they also have a lot of members during the day; on weekends or weekdays between 7 AM and 7 PM, the place is packed and hard to get on the machines you want to use. It's a great value for what it is but unless you just want some cardi bike work during the prime times you're better off coming in after 7 PM. read more

I saw that this PF had really bad reviews. But as a traveler who just needed to get a session in, this gym is fine. Don't let those 1 star reviews scare you like they did me. I was expecting the worst but it was like most other PFs I have been to. I would say that if you have any gym anxiety/ claustrophobia don't go to the gym if the crowd meter is above 3. 3 was pushing it a bit for me because this gym is crammed to the brim with equipment. That being said I didn't have any trouble finding a spot and the piece of equipment I needed. All the cleaning materials were filled. And a majority of the equipment was in working condition. A while back the Gym Hours were 24/7; Then it was reduced to 24/5 with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday closing at 9PM. And finally, now, the current hours of operation are further reduced. The gym now closes at Midnight on Mondays and 7PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Do you see a pattern here? I do. My husband and I now travel and are in the Vero Beach area for the winter season. I belonged to another Planet Fitness prior to coming here. You can never beat the price of planet fitness and I can never complain about that. This particular planet fitness is very small. It's narrow and lacks any space to spread out or a 360 machine. They clean the workout area quite a bit which is great. The bathroom showers are frequently dirty though and also very small. They are currently revamping the bathrooms and have closed off the bathrooms for men for a month or more now. I believe they have some sort of facility for them outside. read more

Corina followed me into the parking lot and accused me of stealing a bottle of water that I'd pay for with the help of another associate. She insisted I'd stolen it, refused to look up the transaction to confirm I'd paid for it, and threatened to cancel my membership. When I went back to workout 2 days later, she approached me during my workout to say I was not allowed to have my bag with me and needed to put it in a locker. I've worked out 5-7 days for the past 8 months, and I always have my bag with me. This was the first time I've been asked to put my bag in a locker. Before I could finish my reps I was on (less than a minute after she told me to put my bag away), she told me she was terminating my membership and I had to leave. I asked to speak with a manager and Corina told me one was not available and instead called the police and I was served with a no trespassing warrant. I cannot believe how poorly I've been treated by Corina and that Planet Fitness doesn't do something about how she treats their clients. read more

I'll be in Vero Beach on and off for a year and needeed a place to work out. Reviews were sketchy but I joined anyway. I love it. I typically do 40-60 minutes of weight training followed by 40 minutes of an aerobic activity 6 days a week. Yes it's small but the weight machines are great and you can move from one to the next at a good clip regardless of the time of day I'm there. I rarely have to wait and when I do it's no big deal. It's clean and the staff are very friendly. Lots of aerobic equipment so a good amount of choices. And the price is great. I'm so glad I joined. read more

This was the worst gym experience I've ever experienced it's pitiful. First off, last year they signed me up for a different membership which was more expensive then the basic one we were discussing without my knowledge. After speaking to the rude manager at the Vero location, they said there was nothing they could do to down grade it without charging me even more money. The gym was always crammed back and dirty so I knew I wanted to cancel the membership. I go in to cancel and the "system was down" so the man at the desk took my information and ensured he'd cancel it. Turns out, he never canceled it, which I heard this location was notorious for. I've been getting charged for months without my knowledge. When I called today to speak to the manager, she was unable to speak to me. The kind women in the phone, lord knows she's the only one I've had an experience with, told me yet again that their system was down. She told me to expect a call back when the system is up to cancel it. The unprofessionalism and way this locations is scamming people out of their money is nothing that I've ever experienced before at any other planet fitness location. Better yet, no one seems to care. I gave Planet Fitness a "top notch" review in the past; however, today I was forced to rescind and update it to a very average review. Here is why: To my shock and surprise, the Planet Fitness in Vero, has reverted back to it's previous confusing, ridiculous and illogical hours of operation, which is very inconvenient for someone like me, who works 2nd shift. Only a few weeks ago, they were open 24/7 and there was big 24/7 sign at the entrance in order to advertise the good news. Unfortunately, they reverted back to their 24/3 + Monday to Midnight+ Friday, Saturday, and Sunday closed at 10PM hours! This selfish and calloused owner seems to think that one should be doing something other than working out such as partying, watching tv, or sitting home on weekends after 10PM. I can't figure out this person's decisions. Why would he or she want to repeatedly kick people out of the gym on Friday Night, Saturday Night, and Sunday Night at 10 PM. Some people unknowingly, arrive there at 9:30 PM or later not knowing that it closes at 10 PM and are forced to rush through their workout because the gym employee informs them that they will be closing at 10PM. This gym owner is very selfish or out of touch, or simply don't care that people want to workout after 10 PM on weekends. What is so special about Monday through Thursday that this owner will open 24 hours on those 4 days? I have never heard of such thinking. It is very unfortunate for people like me who love to workout and burn off some energy on weekends in order to get a good night's sleep. Maybe this gym owner is trying to dare us to quit Planet Fitness and join Anytime Fitness. He or She may get their wish soon. read more

Also, there are so many different people there which makes me feel very comfortable. Sometimes when I'm there the staff help each other out by mopping the floors and cleaning the windows. I was a Black Card member for 13 months. The Black Card membership gets you access to two massage chairs that feel as though they are ripping the spine from your back, and three generic, weak tanning booths.The place gets crowded, and most of the members lack basic gym etiquette. Many won't be bothered to even wipe away their sweat when they finally decide to move on. People are forced to camp the equipment, and the three Smith machines (no bench presses, squat racks, etc.) are next to impossible to find open. The rubber dumbbells are cartoonishly huge and awkward and the machines are not unlike those found at a budget hotel. The machinery causes muscular imbalances. The trainer is unhelpful and either uneducated in fitness or unwilling to perform - either of which renders her almost totally ineffective. During summer break, my 15 year old son wanted to go with me to work out at about 11:30 pm one night and the employee questioned me as to why I "didn't have him home in the bed where he should be" in front of other members. Another time, while attending earlier in the day, a male worker referred to me as "Dunkin" and nearly - though he probably doesn't realize - made me throw a temper. The bathrooms are disgusting, and the cleaning person seems to use the same mop water night after night. I know this because I was forced to start going to the gym at 3 am in order to get to a Smith machine, and the smell from the mopping will gag a man. My wife stopped going 5 months in to our year long contract because she could never get to an open machine unless it was cardio equipment. With the exception of a guy that works nights, the employees are judgemental and rude and largely ineffectual. It would be easy to conclude that management set that example. If you must find out on your own, please don't make the mistake I did and do a contract. There are much better options in this town than this trap and they are not much more $$ - especially considering they are actually real gyms with nice equipment, nice clients, and helpful workers. Thankfully, for me, cancelling my membership was easier than finding an open Smith. The music is OMFG TERRIBLE and the wifi occasionally works well. If you want to ride an exercise bike with bad bearings while wearing house-slippers and sipping down Starbucks, or are in need of cheap and light physical therapy, this may be a good place. I give this club 1 star for the customer service, because either their associates are woefully uninformed about Planet Fitness policies and fees, or they straight up lie to customers to keep them in contracts. I preface this by saying I will gladly amend my review of this club if they would DO THE RIGHT THING and refund us the $35 Annual Fee that we incurred due to bad or misleading advice by their associates, as corporate said is only in THEIR discretion to do. Read on and see how this fee should have been avoided. Here is the letter to corporate I sent discussing the unsavory business practice, fees, and staff problems: "We joined Planet Fitness in Florida, 6/10/13. 3 months ago, in March 2014 we went into our home club Planet Fitness to cancel our membership. The associate told us that it would be $58 to cancel so we should just let the year expire because maybe we *would* use it and this way we weren't paying basically 3 months of gym dues for nothing. She said, "cancel now you're throwing away $58... wait til in runs out, it's basically the same price but you have the opportunity to use the gym." So, my boyfriend trusting in her advice (and against my wishes, as I have experienced with Gold's Gym how your business makes it difficult and expensive to leave) was letting the year run out. June 1, 2014 we were hit with that $35 "annual fee". I do remember seeing that in the contract he signed over a year ago but no, he didn't recall that in March when he consulted the advice of your associate on how to end this contract. That was his mistake but that was YOUR associate's JOB to know and explain when she instead falsely told him letting the contract expire would cost the same as canceling. Going on her erroneous and/or untruthful information has now cost us and additional $35. Vero Planet Fitness said this could not be avoided or refunded despite the bad advice to keep the contract going because "Sorry, corporate policy) , but BTW- I spoke to corporate and they said, NO it was the home clubs discretion to provide a refund. So someone is lying. Regardless DO NOT get sucked into Planet Fitness, thinking "no hassles, no intimidation" because when it comes to charging you fee after fee, they're both. We moved to Dallas June 1st and called Planet Fitness in Dallas that day, changed them to our home club and said we wanted to cancel. They said we can't cancel until AFTER 6/10 or we would be charged $58. We went into the Dallas planet AFTER 6/10 but before the billing date 6/17 (6/12 I believe) on our lunch break to cancel, in person, after June 10th, as instructed, and was told we WOULD be billed for this month because we didn't cancel BEFORE the 10th. Your people told us we had to wait until AFTER the 10th, so what were we supposed to do? It is completely unfair to charge us for another month when we've been actively trying to cancel this membership for 3 months now. I respectfully ask that we be refunded the $35 annual fee we would have NEVER incurred had the original associate properly informed us the cost of canceling vs letting the contract run out, AND the $21.39 that was charged to us on 6/17, as your policies made it IMPOSSIBLE for us to avoid these charge, despite multiple attempts to cancel this membership. The Vero Beach FL Club and Dallas Club blame corporate policies and the corporate response is to take it up with the home club. So if you will not refund it I ask that you provide me a letter I can show the appropriate home club that says Corporate Says it is up to you home club, to decide on a refund, so they can stop hiding behind a corporate policy, and perhaps they'll consider doing the right thing." If the Vero Beach associate would have just canceled our membership in March like we asked, we'd have been spared $54+ in fees for a gym we haven't been able to use since March. Instead, again either being oblivious to the annual fee and other planet fitness policies, OR totally aware but mislead us to keep us in this contract and squeeze more money out if us, she gave us BAD advice and we payed dearly for it. Planet Fitness is a pain in the ass. Find gyms that don't have to keep their members by FORCE, rather clients want to stay for the gym, not to avoid being cheated out of hard earned money. If Vero Beach will refund us the $35 as Planet Fitness corporate says is their discretion to do, I'll change my review to discuss the very nice facilities. But the person from corporate threw Vero under the bus and said that Vero club probably would g refund us bc we don't live there and they do t care if we join Planet Fitness again. The Vero Beach PF has the most incredible crew, the manager Tony is an absolutely OUTSTANDING gym manager and expects the same from his amazing friendly professional courteous staff. They continually stay on top of cleanliness and any repairs that the equipment may need and are always open to suggestions for the continual improvement of their facility. When you come to this gym, it is amazing because Vero Beach is a large town, but as big as this gym actually is, it is like working out with a "family" I can't explain it, the comradery is so refreshing and even though this gym is huge it has the feel of a small town gym. We used to love to go there because the atmosphere is like none other that we have ever experienced.
