I have been a member of planet fitness for a long time from Elizabeth City , NC to Matamoras in Pa to the Poughkeepsie area and there all very clean .The difference is not all of these gyms have the same equipment.The corporate owned ones have more including glute bridge machine and another one you step up to and push the weight you choose back and I need those two to strengthen my lower back and upper legs as the private ones are nice and you wouldn't know the machines are missing if you hadn't been to the other gyms .Ive walked out of the once that don't have those two as I have the black card .The price is very fair and friendly staff . read more

The staff are young and inexperienced. They don't all know the club rules. They're too busy socializing with each other. Machines are reported broken but not fixed for days or even a sign placed on them. Bathrooms were broken for 4 days. I called to ask I they were working and they said yes, and I got there to find out they weren't! I know why they're $10 a month.... read more

And here I thought the Poughkeepsie location was good. This Wappingers location blows me away! The exterior is pretty bland but tucked inside is a really stellar PF location! The gym is very neat and clean, laid out very well and a lot of good options. There's a section of cardio up on a cool second level that overlooks the main machines area. The staff were very accommodating with helping me get acquainted with the layout. Great GREAT location, wish I was in Wappingers more often to visit! read more

This planet fitness is quite large, and recently updated. It tends to get crowded at times, but that is normal for all PF locations. Staff are mostly friendly, and the only complaint I have is that the paper towel dispensers are often broken or empty. I recommend this location if in the area. read more

This franchise is is the worst option out there. Let start out by stating that they refuse to take American currency!!! They do not accept credit cards either. They just want direct access to your bank account for a gym membership. they wouldn't even accept a check for the yearly total amount!!! They have more rules and regulations than are needed. The equipment is OK, but they lack basics like a regular bench press and squat rack with a universal bar. Is EFT is only for planet fitness benefit....I can manage my own money. I don't need PF to automatically bill me for membership fees. You hope people will forget about their membership and incur a reoccurring fee. read more

This location is reminiscent of a retirement home/style gym complete with naked old men walking around the locker room & having full conversations with their friends without clothing. I brought in a gallon-jug of Poland spring & I was told a water container of that size was not allowed in the gym because they didn't want people to be "intimidated". Along with taking away most of the free weights & related machines/benches, this was the last straw. I am now a happy member of Golds. The only thing planet fitness has over them is the ability to work out at any PF in the whole state. But with the way they are running things, why would you want to? read more

I travel all over the United States with my job and I can say I've been in over 100 Planet Fitness locations throughout. This one rates right up there with the best of them. In my top three actually. Super clean facility, great staff and one of the best laid out places I've been in. I had read a bad review on it before I went so wasn't expecting much. I'm glad I didn't believe it and now assume the person that wrote the review was just having a bad day or you wouldn't be able to please no matter how hard you tried. I should also add I owned my own gym for 15 years so I know what it takes to maintain the facility at the same time please every customer that walks through the door. This place is worth the workout. At times this location is a 5-star gem. Other times, it's a single star dredge. So difficult to tell until you walk in the door. Most recently... - front desk staff is quick w/a friendly hello but needs to stop telling customers that "sunless tanning in 10 minute intervals can't lead to skin cancer". I overheard a staff member say this to a customer. He's wrong & the customer looked really angry after his statement. - floor staff keep all sanitizer & towels stocked but they should check the restrooms regularly. Sink countertops & the floor under them are usually drenched. - where did the high-rise sit-up benches go? - beverage machine is always stocked & always cold. read more

I would have given this gym a 4-star, but in the summer of 2014, they had switched ownership. Meaning, that they had removed essential equipment including the barbells, as well as some flat-benches and heavier weights - this places significant limitations on those who wish to seriously workout. That said, if you are a beginner / novice individual, then you will unlikely notice the difference. THE STAFF are not as engaging as they should be, but for $99/year membership, I expect that low wages are how they keep their prices low. Not a bad gym at all. It's pretty clean, lots of cardio equipment - ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, stair climbers, and so on, so the few times I've been, there's never been a wait for any of these. Small amount and area for free weights, but it's usable. Lots of weight machines and circuits as well. Locker rooms are pretty clean. Beginning to show its age. read more

This is a revision of a previous posting. I've raised my rating to four stars. Let me start off by saying that you get what you pay for. Yes, Planet Fitness is cheap compared to other alternatives in the area, but you will see why in the low overall quality in repair of the machines or TV's when they break down. Sometimes a stationery bike could be down for 3 weeks. Many times, other equipment is out of order for long lengths of time. I was told by one of the staff that the repair person has to service 10 locations in the area and that's why it takes so much time to fix the equipment. The music that blasts through their speakers is too loud and geared to a younger demographic. I've brought it to the attention to those at the front desk many times and some of them even agree with me, but lament they now have no control over it since the renovation. I come to Planet Fitness to get a body workout, but that does not include my ears. They indicate they are open 24/5 on the front door and 7 to 7 on weekends. I take 24/5 to mean 24 hrs for the 5 weekdays, but no, they close at 10:00pm on Fridays, just when I got there the other night. So, then why four stars? Well, mainly because the staff is so friendly, check me in promptly and helpful in whatever their capacity allows. There's always a greeting when I come in and a goodbye when I'm leaving. Basically, it's a low budget club with an environment and maintenance to match. You better like the music they blast throughout the club, or bring good noise cancelling ear phones, or earplugs. I will continue my membership there because I can make do with what they have and all their faults, just to get a workout on the cheap and get out. In summary, you can get a good workout for a reasonably low price. read more

This is by far the worst gym I have ever been a member of. Facilities are very limited. Machines routinely offline for service. 8most of the staff is discourteous and not helpful, but the managers are the worst. Also be advised they will put you through a number of hoops if you ever want or need to cancel your membership. I was month to month. Moved. Tried to cancel. "You have to do in person where you joined." If not then you have to send certified letter to cancel. Equally absurd. The worst location in Hudson Valley! Looks like management believes they are running a prison, not Planet Fitness franchise. I would recommend entire staff to go trough basic customer service training, safety/liability training and also brand compliance class, since none of them really knows or understands what Planet Fitness brand stands for. Their practice of selective policies application is simply discriminatory and illegal. Lack of scanner at the front desk wouldn't be so much of a problem for guests from other locations if staff tried to be a bit more polite while barking at customers. read more

I have had several great experience at Planet Fitness! People are very friendly when you enter and leave the facility. They are really wonderful! The gym is clean and has a no judgement zone which is great! People can really feel comfortable there. I like that you can tan and get a massage after your hard workout. The price is extremely inexpensive yet they do maintain a very nice place to sweat it out! I'm not sure why a work out facility offers pizza or bagels but I do think offering your customers something extra once in a while is great for retention. Major downfall is that the relaxation zone is right by the front desk so all through my massage i have to hear about alexis and how they hated working here because of the shifts blah blah very unprofessional and loud conversation interrupting my gym time. I have been coming here since March and I am very pleased with the gym. The location is great , the staff clean all the time. The only issue I have is when I am using the 30 minute circuit and people come in and use only two of the machines and cut in front of me. Even though there r signs not to do this. The staff always say hello and goodbye which is nice. read more

It's bright, clean, friendly, there are enough machines, and most of them work most of the time. The main "dislike" is the music, which is mostly Autotune-based torture and mumbling boys waving their hands about, and makes you want to work out and get out as fast as possible. read more

Can't beat it for 19.99 a month. They've expanded this particular location which was a good size to begin with. Now they have a bigger circuit area. I like having a black card membership so I can go to any of their locations, just wish they would make it easier to check in, I preferred it when you could just send scan your card. Decent place. Always seems quite warm and humid inside even in winter.. I'd wish they'd open a door or something. Staff is always polite and give you a customary goodbye when leaving. Staffers always seems to be scrubbing the place, lots of times in places I doubt even get dirty. Seems like busy-work to me really but at least it gives you the impression it's a clean place. As far as new equipment, they added 4 fancy looking Stairmaster-type machines not long ago but they always seem to be breaking down. Not their fault really, but still annoying. They replaced all their treadmills not long ago from ones that had fans in them to ones that DON'T. I mean WTF? Considering how hot it gets in there, I really needed those! Would be nice if they'd provide towels to soak up your sweat, but you get what you pay for I guess. On that note, I have a real cheapo membership of $10 per month plus the bogus yearly fee of $25 (I think). I only get use of the workout equipment (no tanning or massages (like I care) and am stuck at this one location for the price, but it's still a a steal nonetheless. Sometimes the low cost of it works against me since I'm not as inclined to get my ass in there to workout to get my money's worth. This location can be an extremely busy place right after people get off work (like around 5pm weekdays) and you really have to fight to get a machine at that time. You literally have to run to one the minute it frees up or risk some other schmuck getting it. If you can, do yourself a flavor and go a few hours later or earlier. To me, the place has wacky hours: Open 24hours M-Th, yet closes at 10pm Fri and 7pm on Sat/Sun. You mean I can work out on a Wednesday at 2am when no one in their right mind would, yet I can't go in at 7pm on a Saturday? Really!? read more

I have been working out and tanning at this establishment since I was 16 years old. To be honest, it's not the best gym but it's inexpensive and close to home. Though throughout the years, I have received nothing but attitude from the ungrateful employees. Early this Winter renovations were taking place, as a tanning member I was not informed the tanning beds were not available for use. Again, I was not informed and was charged my normal membership fee (I pay an additional amount for the tanning facilities). Disappointed by the lack of professionalism, I asked one of the associates when the facilities would be up and running again. She replied in a nasty tone that she was not sure and that it could take months. During this time, I tanned and worked out at other local locations. The Lagrange location was beyond clean and professional. After receiving news the tanning was back in Wappingers, I decided after a long work day to attempt a tanning session at this terrible location. Walking in I was immediately reprimanded for wanting to tan. I was told I could only go in for 3 minutes because the bed would be hot and my skin was too pale. Meanwhile I had just returned from a trip to the Bahamas. This was all too much to handle, not only were these associates condescending but now they were profiling my skin tone ? I have been dealing with this young manager for years now and she is beyond rude. This is not how you retain guests, there is a way to handle these types of situations and clearly this girl is not in the right profession. I plan on canceling my membership (mainly due to management) this month, Gold's gym is looking quite promising. I mean who likes working out at a gym with broken machines and televisions? Absurd. I canceled my membership over the phone in April of 2014. I was told I didn't have to do anything else. The person on the phone even said I would be missed. I recently reviewed my billing statement from my bank. It is now September of 2014 and they have been billing me monthly since April. The customer service at corporate is awful. I would never sign up for this gym no matter how low the monthly payment is, because now I'm out $120. read more

So I went to work out on New Years Eve and took my son with me. I thought my membership included guest passes. When I asked the girl at the counter for a guest pass for my son she was so rude. She said, "your membership doesn't have any guest passes," as if she was really annoyed by my presence. She seemed really bothered by the fact that I was asking for help and information about my membership. Isn't that what she's there for? When she was done with her attack of rudeness another women came over and was equally as rude. I recently joined to rehab my knee replacement and back surgeries. I'm a former athlete and have been in many gyms/fitness facilities over the years. First off, the staff has been extremely friendly, approachable and professional. I've noted them cleaning the facility and in general assisting others. The facility itself is in good condition and the equipment appears to be well maintained. I would recommend this PF to all. read more

I started going to the Poughkeepsie one.then I moved to wappingers falls and I started going to this gym since around 2008. this gym has turned around tremendously . its clean machines are working much better the place is updated and the personal that work there are friendly and nice. awesome job keep up the good work read more
