These are not compression pants
Frederick A.

I have been going to this gym for several years. 1. During this pandemic people are working out with no mask and no vaccinations cards are being checked 2. People are working out with no mask 3. I was wearing running pants which they consider compression pants that have pockets for my phone so I can run with my phone compression pants don't have pockets. I need to wear a pair or shorts of my compression pants. The rules say shorts must be worn over compression type pants where fabric is see through or resemble undergarments? Clearly my running pants are neither of these. Earl the manager was rude and obnoxious when I questioned the policy. It's ok to have a policy but it should be enforced whether male or female, also be consistent in enforcing all policies.

This what I was wearing

The manager under the name Earl told me that I could not get in the club because it seemed like my shorts were too tight or too short. I saw many women in there in leggings and they had no issue getting in. This is purely homophobia. I asked him to give me the customer service or corporate phone number he said he doesn't have it. How to work for company and don't have the customer service number. I asked him for his supervisor contact info and he refused to give it to me. I feel discriminated against as a gay man. I wanted to talk to another staff member at the front desk. The manager, Earl, told him to not speak to me. The staff member comply and ignored my questions Planet Fitness this unacceptable. It is a discrimination against gay males. You should train your stuff against sexual orientation and gender expressions biases. and I will make sure my membership is cancel. I have been going to the gym for years and I was never stop or had any type of issue for the clothes forI wear.

Yes!

Being a native Washingtonian, I was a bit skeptical about this location when I initially joined. The neighborhood has been a little "interesting" in years past, but I am happy to see that this PF came in and brought some life to Ivy City. I absolutely love this gym and the staff here!! I only use the cardio machines and some weights, but this gym has all I need to get me back in shape after taking a couple of years off. The gym is always clean - equipment, Ladies restroom, and general areas in the gym - and the bright and open layout of it says "Welcome" to everyone. I absolutely love this location! Wait, did I already say that?

This is a great planet fitness. Its very classy and the clientele myself being the prime example are top notch!

Ask the Community - Planet Fitness

I just read some horrible reviews from one year ago. Are the issues resolved? I am planning to join this week. It doesn't have to be perfect but I Just need a temperature controlled, clean, guest friendly place that's open 24/7.

if those are your criteria then it fits the bill!

Is this location Metro accessible?

Only by Metrobus - otherwise it's about a 25 minute walk from the NoMa stop.

Do they have pizza night?

Yes I believe on the first Monday of the month.

The coach introduced me to the workout and checked in on my throughout the 50 minutes. Many of the members were very friendly, making it a point to say hi and check on me as a first timer. 2) Workout: I know their workouts change, but the one I went to at 4:30pm on a Thursday in May involved five different stations- boxing, weights, jumping, kettle balls, and a shuffle run. You line up behind a color dot based on the size of the weights you want to work with. For this workout, we went around the room six times- two starting with easier weights, two on medium, and two heavy. We spent 40 seconds at each station with 20 seconds to transition. It was a great workout and it kept my heart rate up. 3) Coach: She knew her workout and was super friendly and approachable. 4) Space: There's cubbies to keep your belongings, a drinking fountain, and restrooms. If you're looking for a community-minded gym with great coaches, I recommend MABabolic.

I then joined a few months later with a Black Friday deal as a way to add some variety to my lifting routine. I've done group classes like Elevate and Orange Theory and really prefer the MAD programming. I love that everyone is able to do the same workout but work at their own strength levels. The programming also isn't as intimidating as CrossFit or Olympic lifting. There's also a solid variety of dumbbell and kettlebell work mixed in with a variety of cardio machines to work on endurance. The class is fairly fast paced (in a good way) and before you know it you've completed a total body workout. I generally go in the evenings 2-3 days a week and on the weekend . I've had a chance to take classes with most of the coaches. My favorite coaches (and Carol! ) are the ones who give a gentle reminder of when it's appropriate to go up in weights for the day. I've been going to MAD for a little over six months and I'm happy to bring guests with me anytime I can because I love the workouts and members at H Street. I also love that Carol is so welcoming and takes the time to get to know members. Her attention to new and old members has gone a long way, several friends I've brought with me have commented on how personable she is. If you're looking for a new gym routine (beginner or advanced) I highly recommend giving MADabolic a try. Sign up for the 5 for 5 pass and try different coaches you won't regret it.

I…read morejust moved here about a year ago, and the one thing I've noticed is that no gyms in this area are cooled properly. Yes--cooled. The temperature should be from 60-65, and anyone getting a good sweat and workout in would understand why that's ideal. Here, I was literally dripping sweat after a couple of sets on the leg press. No cardio before. Ridiculous. Oh, and the towels to dry off all the sweat? They were full size. That's all they had. No regular towels for the hot gym that causes you to drip sweat. I've lived in Texas, California, and Arizona--all of which were just as if not more hot than the DMV, with sufficiently cooled gyms. All I keep getting from gyms around here when I ask are excuses. I'm tired of it. It's unacceptable for a large corporate gym. If anyone knows of a COLD gym to lift at please, let me know.

I called the club and asked to cancel, they referred me to their Gm who confirmed via email that my membership was cancelled (with 30 days notice which was fine with me). Life is good right? Then the drama starts... This email was on 3/11/25 so any reasonable person would thing it was cancelled 4/11/25. Instead they hit my Amex on 4/25/25 for the nexts months membership. I email the GM multiple times with no response (again I'm now traveling constantly so coming in person is not an option). Finally at my wits end I dispute with Amex. Amex approves the dispute with my proof in writing (and blocks all further charges from them). Then not only did they ghost me. Their 3P harasses me for payment on a membership I have clearly cancelled (in writing). And threatens me with collections. When I forwarded them the written confirmation of cancellation they stated that it wasn't sufficient and not in the clubs policy - I have to pay $450+ despite having written documentation my cancellation. WHAT?! So hear me out - an employee, at the club. With a club email said my membership was cancelled. Why am I now being threatened with collections for $450+ because of this and they refuse a Golds gym email as proof of cancellation! No one will call me back from the gym, and their 3P is abysmal. This is the horror story you hear about gym memberships. People screw up, but honor the screw up - especially when it's in writing. Spend the $ and go to equinox - this gym and their admin function is trash

Why The LAB? Smart programming. Knowledgable coaches. Positive community…read more The LAB isn't one of those "let's throw random moves in a random order at people and hope they think the workout is good" or "one-size-fits-all" type of classes. The LAB offers top-notch and smart programming. The class is broken down into 4 parts, which is what makes it different than any other workout I've done in the DC area: wake up (mobility), warm up, work (lifting/barbell work), and cashout (conditioning). You spend a significant amount of time on proper mobility and warm up so you can prevent injury. This is one of the things I appreciate about The LAB. Many other classes don't focus on the mobility/warm up piece enough in my opinion, which is why I hear about and see injuries from time to time. Don't worry, though--there's still plenty of time to do barbell lifts (deadlifts, front squats, back squats, bench presses, etc.). This is one of the things I've missed the most in group fitness classes. You don't really find real barbells in classes except in CrossFit gyms and barbell clubs, so it's been great to be able to implement this back into my routine again. I really like that there's time to work on these skills at your own pace with a partner or two (and your coach). You build good skills, technique, and strength during this portion of the class. ...And we can't forget about the cashout. This is the last part of class where you get to do some conditioning work with cardio machines (treads, assault bikes, ski ergs, rowers), dumbbells, kettlebells, and other pieces of equipment that I haven't used before like hex bars and aqua workout bags. I feel like I learn a lot of new moves that I've never done before, which keeps it exciting! The coaches are really knowledgable, positive, and encouraging. They know when to help you with your form so you can prevent injury and what I appreciate most: they know exactly how and when to push your limits. I don't mean in a "I'm going to push you and you're going to hurt yourself" or awkward cheerleading type of way, either. They watch you and immediately know you can go up in weight, or when you're getting tired, they can see you have a little more in you to do a few more reps (in a safe way, of course). The programming makes the workout challenging, but the coaches take it one step further. The people are really welcoming (and strong). There's always conversation flowing, people cheering each other on, and big smiles even when we feel like we're dying. This is one of the best parts: having like-minded people surrounding you to celebrate your victories, along with having cool coaches who care about your ability to grow and facilitate it in different ways. At The LAB, you'll develop your skills properly and have the opportunity to be challenged, all while working at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
