It's relatively clean. The staff is friendly. My one big complaint is the noise level. Often, someone is vacuuming (with a very loud vacuum) and the music is blaring and not the type of music conducive to working out! (The Science Times has reported on research that suggests that classical music is best). I wear ear plugs and, if a staff member is vacuuming in an area where I happen to be working out, I leave. I've been a member of this location for years. There are periods of time when it is moderately clean, and then longer periods when it is not. The one bathroom stall in the women's room has been out of order for over a month. The locker room is so dirty. Most often than not I'm playing musical treadmills because the majority of the incline doesn't work or they are so off balance it shakes terribly when you run. This morning a young lady was running and her phone flew off backwards. Despite numerous surveys submitted nothing changes. Unfortunately this is the closest gym to me after I searched for something better. Regardless of the affordability it is clear management takes zero pride in this location. WOMEN, BE CAREFUL. A guy was taking photographs of me while on the treadmill. He took out his phone multiple times and aimed it at me. At the third (obvious) time I go "HEY. What are you doing?" He then starts cursing at me, flipping me off, telling me to f*** myself. I was so surprised at his reaction I laughed, prompting him to say even worse things I won't repeat. He huffs and puffs his way to the front desk as I keep walking on the treadmill, bewildered, because what did I do? Obviously the front desk did nothing, so he went to another machine and stared at me until he left. My friend came and joined me because I no longer felt safe. When I got off the machine, an older gentleman who was next to me said I was right, he was taking photographs. I asked him to tell the front desk and he said "I think you handled it." New member here. On Monday the women's locker room was closed all day (no ladies bathroom available) because they couldn't figure out how to turn the lights on in the locker room. On Thursday come in to find out their Wi-Fi is locked out and you need a password, but nobody knows the password. They've been open for eight hours. At this point how do they not have this fixed? Seems like it will be a simple phone call to fix it but nobody's fixed it, so therefore I cannot use my iPad to watch a movie while I get in my cardio. Time to find a new gym read more

2 weeks ago after months of talking to the manager and staff at Planet Fitness in Wethersfield about the disgusting bathroom and shower facilities along with the broken equipment(broken for months) and getting no where I posted my concerns. Low and behold someone higher up the food chain took notice Looks like they cleaned house, and are bringing in new blood to clean things up. I'm already seeing an improvement. Clean! One of the cleanest gyms I have been to. Lots of space to spread out, tons of cardio machines if that's what you're into. If you're into weights, seek other options. No bench presses or squat racks are a huge drawback. If you are serious about lifting you'll know Smith machines just don't cut it, and that's all this location has to offer. read more

So Planet Fitness Wethersfield,CT charged me twice in July, once on 7/1/24 for my normal $25.64 and then again on 7/24/24 for $$30.64 ($25.64 plus a $5 late charge). Their answer to this was the original 7/1/24 of $25.64 didn't go through it got returned yada yada, but it clearly show that my account balance was indeed reduced my $25.64 on 7/1. So, I get the manager on the Phone, some kid named Alex, who is super unprofessional and should not be client facing, sounded like a teenager on the phone who basically told me " it is what it is", can't help me. I told if needed I would file a small claims suit for the lousy $30.64 and he simply told me " you do what yuo have to do" rather than say : " I'll look intothis further, we can meet to review you staement etc" and still couldn't offer any help. Super weird and unprofessional. Alex just said : " take it up with your bank"....Which I did. So since Alex showed no interest in resolving this, I am filing a small claim suit for the $30.64, which he'll have to push up the line to Planet Fitness Corporate...and hopefull lose his job for his incompetance. Only way to end that is 2 block them from your checking account close your credit card and open another one. I have gotten so into the classes at Planet Fitness. The trainer, Sam, is totally amazing; she's great with everyone, no matter their level of fitness. However, they recently changed the class schedule and it is terrible! They used to have 30 minute classes for a specific muscle group (legs, arms, back, etc.) Now they've combined them into strange combinations. So a 30 minute class will now be "legs and shoulders." But that means I'm only getting 15 minutes of each group! Also, they've added all these blocks for "orientation" for new members. Which seems like a great idea, except that there aren't enough new members to fill the sessions, and now the trainer has to do that rather than teaching classes. All the regulars who have come to depend on the classes are pretty unhappy! Since the schedule changed I am only able to actually get to one class a week, rather than 4-5 that I used to attend. read more

Awful location. Asked front desk to fix machine multiple times. Weeks went by, still no fixed machine. Workers at front desk are not friendly, everything you ask seems to be alot of work for them. This seems to be to be a money pit, "we are looking for your $10 a month". Not a clean nor friendly place to go. There are many other options in the area to look into. read more

I have been at the Wethersfield the past 10 months. Started off well Matt at the front desk is very helpful and sincere when answering questions about dress code and logistics. The past two months have been increasingly frustrating. Some customers leave the equipment all covered in sweat when completed, countless minutes of people on their cell phone talking while they are working out (so distracting) the stretching room has the fitness trainer holding a somewhat large group and no room to stretch if not taking the class. Tonight while trying to do the 30-minute workout the room was more of a social hour where people just sat on equipment and chatted with one another. No need to talk with a manager - you should be walking around and noticing! I am impressed with the cleanliness of the changing rooms, the overall appearance of PF and the availability of parking is good. read more

I don't know how they did it because working with the public is a nightmare but, this planet fitness has put together the absolute best team ever. I actually switched gyms to this location partially because everyone here is so nice. Always greeted warmth and the people here actually know how to joke around with the public. If anything is ever wrong (never anything major) the people here are apologetic and prompt at fixing it. Love it here. It makes the agony of working out not as bad! read more

This facility is large and kept clean. I'm obsessed with the star climber and although there are only 4 at this location I've never had a problem getting one, typically in the afternoon. I've tried their hydro massage bed and that is cool. You can even play games on the touch screen monitor while you get a massage. read more

I've waited to write my review, but since I've been a member for about a month now, I feel I can give an accurate review. I was hesitant to join PF since I had a less than stellar experience with them previously (not at this location) so I initially didn't want to join. But it's on my way home from work and just over the river from where I live, so at the recommendation of some co-workers, I joined. This is probably the cleanest gym I have ever been to! That is was caught me off guard. Everything is clean and in it's place, I love it. The front desk staff have all been friendly and helpful when I was signing up and asked some questions. There's TONS of cardio equipment, but also an equally large selection of weights and machines. There is a separate area for the 30 min circuit, and another room for stretching, which I appreciate so you're not just in the middle of the floor stretching in downward dog. The locker rooms have been clean every time I've gone, and while I have not showered here yet, I would feel comfortable doing so. I got the black card for $20 a month and it's worth every penny. The tanning area is spotless, and the stand up bed is better than the tanning salon I used to go to!! I can't speak for the hydromassages but I'll prob try that out sometime soon. Overall, this location is a great deal, and the best part is, it's hardly ever full, even after work. #winning read more

Planet Fitness - Gyms Near Me - Wethersfield, Connecticut

It's a decent gym, with a few problems. The staff is friendly and it is almost always clean. It is a very crowded gym unless you go at very specific times (which can be tough if you have a demanding schedule). The crowding occurs partially because there isn't much competition in the area, but another problem is definitely the overabundance of cardio equipment. There is no need for 2/3rds of the gym to be taken up by cardio equipment when half of it remains unused even on busier days. If the free weights section was expanded, it would satisfy the needs of many more people. Aside from that, most complaints on here are about the people who go to the gym, which is really no fault of the gym itself. It caters towards people unfamiliar with and new to working out, so people not knowing proper etiquette is should be considered if that's a deal breaker for you. read more

This review is not about PF Wethersfield club. It's about PF billing. I feel like I need to educate people regarding how much they are paying for Planet Fitness. If you are on the $10 monthly plan, you are not really paying $10. In my case, it's $14.09 a month but it could be a couple of bucks more for you on the first year if you also paid the start up fee. I signed up with no start up fee, zero prorate, $10/month with tax ($10.64), and an annual fee of $39 with tax ($41.48). Now, $41.48 (annual fee) which you pay once a year (it states in your contract when), comes down to $3.45/month. $3.45 + $10.64 = $14.09 per month. For 12 months, that's $169.08. You have to make sure you have sufficient funds in your account, because if you don't, you will pay more. It's in your contract. They get away with it (legally), because you agreed to it (even though you might have not read the contract), when you signed up. First, they try to charge you with the credit or debit card on file. If that doesn't go through, they can charge you $25 or more just because they tried to make a payment. It states so in your contract. If you have lost your card or the card has expired and you got a new one, you must make the change. You can do it online (create an account there), or go in person. Then they will try to charge your checking account on file. They will not notify you that the payment did not go through, they will just keep charging you until it goes through and that leaves you with unpaid dues (the $25 fee or more). Next, if you are on a 12-month commitment and you want to cancel before the 12-month is up, you have to pay the $58 cancellation fee. This is also in your contract. After your 12-month commitment is up, they will continue to charge you every month and an annual fee just like before until you cancel. The only time you don't pay the cancellation fee is when there is no monthly commitment. People get mad at them, but really, all of this is in your contract. They can't charge you for anything else, otherwise it would be unlawful. I've heard stories that they charge the annual fee at random times of the year and if that's the case, bring it up with them. Show them your contract. Tell them it says that they will charge the annual fee on the anniversary date of the month/day/year stated in the contract, not at random times. If you want to cancel, it's best to go in person and sign the cancellation form. Ask for a copy of the form and if they refuse to give you one, take a photo of it with your phone because this will be proof that you cancelled. I've read horror stories about people going in person and cancelling but still being charged the monthly and annual fee for months or even years. Scary! You cannot cancel if you have any unpaid dues. Sorry for the math, but hope this makes more sense on how you are being billed. read more

I've been a member of many a gym and by far this is the cleanest gym I have ever seen and not because it is new. The entire chain of Planet Fitness is like this. Staff is pleasant and attentive always ready to answer a question. If they don't know the answer they will find someone who does. I've never used the Personal Trainer so I can't speak to that, however it truly is a judgement free zone all over. I'm a Black Card Member so I get all their perks; tanning, massage tables, Angel, bring a buddy and half price drinks. Love the price point for all of this as it's more than fair. read more

I actually really like all the workers here. While all are cordial (which cannot be said for other gyms I have attended), some are actually really nice. They go out of their way to remember their guests by name. I even (mistakenly) thought that I had forgotten my bag in their locker room, and when I called to check if it was there, they left the front desk and went through all of the open lockers to confirm that it was not there. When I originally looked to sign up they recommended that hold off for one more day so that I would get the special promotion that was coming up. HQ might not approve of that, but it won me over, and I'm sure they would rather have a customer for life, than make an extra $20. Compared to some of the other places in the area this is the newest, cleanest, and has the nicest staff. read more

This planet fitness is always hot hot hot in the summer. Their ceiling fans r useless. When u complain nothing is done by the staff or corporate. Been a PF member for a year now. Frequented the locations in middletown NY, Enfield ct, and manchester ct. This is the nicest planet fitness I've ever been to. The facility is clean, spacious and staff is friendly. I go on weekdays and its never been over crowded or even close. Their machines are clean and well organized. Part of the reason I joined as a black card member was for the unlimited tanning and this one has the best tanning beds I've ever used at any pf. I was blown away because the other locations didn't have great tanning beds and no matter what I could never get more than a base. I'm finally not pasty white any more!! Now it's even more crowded when working adults show up... with cell phone watchers and machine hogs. This is a new gym so everything is new, in amazing condition and is nicely laid out. This gym is lighter and brigher than other Planet Fitness locations I have visited and I have to say that this is hands down one of the best gyms that I have found. This particular location is clean, great equipment, the temperature is perfect for working out, the staff is nice and its $10 a month. I really dont think you can ask for a better deal anywhere! I joined this gym for a couple of reasons. One it's closer to where I live and two it's cleaner than my last gym. The bonuses are that it's less expensive than my last gym and they offer aqua massage and tanning if that's your thing. I will say I've tried the massage it's a nice little treat after a workout. No where near like a massage therapist but a nice little treat. They don't offer classes per se but I don't usually take classes anyway. They also have this 30 moon workout room that if in a pinch or for the novice it's a good option. The staff is also very nice and friendly. read more

AVOID PLANET FITNESS LIKE THE PLAGUE. They charged me an annual fee of $41.48 yesterday (5/31/18). That's in addition to the monthly payments each month. I thought that I was no longer a member because I signed up only for a year and that time has long passed. I called PF to see if I could get the annual fee reversed and cancel my account today (6/1/18). I was told, in a snarky voice, that, No. That's not possible. It's in the agreement that you signed (3 years ago). In other words, I have to pay the annual fee for the year even though I'm canceling my membership. I say, Well, please cancel my membership immediately. I was told that I have to come in IN PERSON TO CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP. THEY ARE CRIMINALS. The monthly charges don't appear on your statement as Planet Fitness, Membership is automatically renewed, You're charged an annual fee, Regardless of your circumstances, you have to go to the PF where you signed up to cancel your account. All of this is done to steal as much money from you as possible. They are worse than cable companies and I didn't think that was possible. GO TO THE YMCA INSTEAD!!!! read more

Since the beginning my membership 4 month ago there has only been stress with the billing. This gym is horrible with there billing. I was told they could change the dates of deductions and that was incorrect. Then they would go into my account 4 times and cause major damage to my bank account. When I nicely called to speak with a manager (Matt) he stated that he was sorry and he would look into this matter and he would stop my billing and would call me back with answer. Well he never called me back and again billing went to my account again. When I called again not happy and explain he was surprised but stated I going home for the day and I can't take of this now. You have someone managing your office like that? I have 5 accounts with planet fitness and when I asked to speak with corporate office he stated he could give me that information and when I asked to speak to owner Mike he stated he will let him know still no phone call not even a curiosity call. I believe Mike doesn't know that manager advised me that he would stop all billing and that is not what happened. I ask again I need someone to contact me in regards to this. I have been a part of Wethersfield for many years and can't understand how and who let this company with these rules into our town. Maybe I need to speak to town representative on the matter. it's a brand new facility and they're always walking around mopping, cleaning equipment and just generally maintaining the place. everyone there is friendly and helpful..they do pizza and bagels on the first monday of every month (i believe?) bae and i signed up for 20$/mo which includes unlimited classes (which cap at 5 so you're always getting individualized attention), tanning (stand up and lay down beds) and they also have hydro-massage beds and massage chairs. the hydro-massage beds are divine and worth their weight in gold. believe that. they're also open 24 hours monday-thursday..so NO EXCUSES! i'm not normally a proponent of gyms but with all of the perks i might be converted! read more
